Oh dear, clomid grumpiness seems to be really kicking in today. I have been horrendous the last few days and I stopped taking the pills last Friday. I thought you only got the side effects whilst actually taking the pills and unless there is another reason I am being horrendous, then the clomid is making me feel awful. Poor dh has barely dared to speak to me the last few evenings and tonight I have been, well, indescribable really. No wonder clomid is also called "bitch tabs". Grrrrrrrr. Going to have to get over it as if all goes well at scan tomorrow have some serious BD to do this weekend, but the way I feel at the moment, we won't even be in the same room!

katierocket · 11/08/2005 22:02

sorry to hear that roobedo, I think that it can change from day to day so hopefully you'll be feeling better tomorrow. One rather unpleasant side effect I have noticed is a certain...ahem...dryness down below , not nice.

milesysgirl · 11/08/2005 22:29

oh dear sorry to hear about the bad side affects my dp is reading this in horror he said he might move out for a few days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Loubie37 · 12/08/2005 10:24

I don't think I dare let the OH read this!! We've come to a pact, we've admitted I might be hellish to live with for a few days, but have agreed we'll try not to let it get to us too much, afterall there's a good reason for us all to be taking them I hope!

I know that's easier said than done though, and I'm not quite so excited about taking them though now....

Hopefully your scan results will be good and that will put you both back in the mood for some serious making up

Good luck!

PS forgot to ask - is the dryness a problem for everyone? I've heard it's one of the side effects and wondering whether it's worth me ordering some 'pre seed' ready? It's quite expensive though, works out at over £2 a time.

I've also heard that drinking a glass of grapefruit juice (yuk!) a day from AF to OV helps produce more fertile CM. Failing that I could always buy a bottle of Robitussin I suppose?

Any hints/ideas?

Thanks

katierocket · 12/08/2005 10:39

loubie, not sure but it's a bit unpleasant seeing as we're supposed to be doing lots of BD!
I've got some pre-seed (I kind mumsnetter sent it to me) and also some stuff called Sylk (lubricant thingy that doens't harm swimmers) but it's still not quite 'right' IFYKWIM.
I'm sure it's one of those things though i.e. a side effect that some people get but lots of people don't.

milesysgirl · 12/08/2005 10:44

I haven't had the dryness though know it effects a lot of people.

Had scan this morning. 3 follicles are there but they weren't big enough, only 13mm and need to be 18mm so going back on Tuesday. If they've reached 18mm by then I'll have the injection to pop them out, then have a 72 hour window, aka BD marathon!

Loubie37 · 12/08/2005 19:43

Hi milesygirl, sorry to hear about your AF, has it returned yet?

Roobedoo - good news about the follicles, I hope they grow enough by Tuesday! Can I ask, have you gone private or are you on the NHS? Is that the next step after having Clomid, having scans and then injections to induce OV? If so, how many rounds of Clomid have you had already?

katierocket thanks for that info - can you buy sylk locally or do you have to get it online? Just trying to get ready for every eventuality!!

It's time for OPKs for me from tomorrow again - who knows I might not need to start the Clomid?! But after 15 months of ttcing I know I'm probably kidding myself, just like I do every month....

milesysgirl · 12/08/2005 19:45

hi everyone yes it come back about 4 hours ago so fingers crossed its back for good....ive never wanted a period so much in my life!!!!

katierocket · 13/08/2005 09:37

good to hear milesy

loubie - I got Sylk from their website but you can get it in boots I think.

milesysgirl · 13/08/2005 10:11

morning ladies.... spoke to doctor and he said to start today so ive just had my first dose of clomid ,waiting for some strange side affect!!!!!

OP posts:
Roobedoo · 13/08/2005 13:23

Loubie, we went private just for initial consultation. My initial scan to check ovaries was done by same consultant but at local hospital and have been treated on NHS since.

This is my first month of clomid. Not everyone has the monitoring though I think it's just what they do round here. If we're unsuccessful this month then next time I'll be on holiday when I'm due for the scan so I won't be monitored, which frankly scares me a little, only in case I produce 10 follicles!

Roobedoo · 13/08/2005 13:25

So Milesygirl - have you grown horns yet? The nurse I saw said headaches are the most common side effect. Good luck.

milesysgirl · 13/08/2005 18:49

havnt been too bad this is only my first day though!!!!! just got stomach pain at the moment...

OP posts:
milesysgirl · 13/08/2005 18:52

i know this might sound a bit dim but when is the best time to [do it]??? i finish clomid on day 6 of my cycle ....

OP posts:
Roobedoo · 13/08/2005 19:07

Oh, don't know that one. Having the injection will give me a 'window' but the nurse said if you don't have it you will ovulate at the usual time - whenever that may be. Hard to tell really as I thought clomid gave you a shorter cycle (shorter for me, my cycle is really long). She did say that OPKs should still work though. I suppose I would start on day 10 if I were you and just keep going....

ebbie22 · 13/08/2005 19:43

congrats on a.f milesy, though guess i wont c you for dust, what with all your baby dancing....
