Ridiculous Symptom Spotting... come on... you know you do...

millymoo1234 · 29/03/2010 21:22

OK, so since TTC I've thought (or wondered briefly) the following might be signs of being pregnant...

funny rash on my legs - still don't know what this was
three spots on my forehead - I was convinced this was a hormone induced 'breakout' as I don't normally get spots)
General bad mood - turns out I'm just grumpy
crazy dreams
needing a wee
not needing a wee
not liking the smell of coconut - weird
feeling very weepy and sore boobs - hmmm... this could have just been PMS!
stuffy nose

This month I have a massive craving for Mango which I'm normally indifferent to - I am of course CONVINCED that it's my month...

Am desperately trying to hold out till next weekend to test... I need distractions! anyone else had any funny symptoms and wondered if it could be a SIGN?

pleas join in the madness and let me know I'm not the only one! xxx

Hopeful1980 I had a feint line on Sunday, got a quicker, darker line this morning!! Hope you get the same!

So moral of the story....if your malteasers taste funny then you must be pregnant! I can't believe my symptoms weren't that ridiculous! Going to ring docs in a bit to make booking appointment!

bossyboop · 20/04/2010 15:47

ive been seriously tired for a couple of months so dont know what i would be like with a bfp. Now ovulation has been and gone i will be keeping an eye on my one suspicious looking boob! Tho at least now i know i always seem to get a dull sensation in my tummy at ovulation so thats another thing to spot each month!

HevaU · 20/04/2010 18:59

HiHopeful tested so much last month and a BNF is so much more dishearting than getting AF. Though have been having a lot of cramps today so still not sure will be testing on Thursday morning. Congrats on the faint line by the way hope it becomes a darker x

heehee, this thread has really made me chuckle, am desperate to join in but am only on CD4!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have wished away so much of my life while TTC.
See you all in 3 weeks

Purplefan · 20/04/2010 20:13

Hi, I hope you don' mind me dropping in!! I have been lurking and kept thinking about joining thread but didnt want to tempt fate!!
We have been trying for 2nd child for about a year now with no luck and a few AWOL periods along the way!!
I am on CD26 of a UCL27/28 and am sympton spotting like crazy
I POAS on Sunday because I had 1 cheap test left, but it was BFN, although possibly too early as not due till Thurs/Fri!!
My boobs keep tingling with some sharp pains every now and then and had strange taste in mouth all day yesterday and today...but is it mind games??????

Need to stay away from testing till Fri morn...I think???!!!

Hopeful1980 · 21/04/2010 07:23

emma2617 Congrats on your BFP!

I couldn't help but test again this morning, this time with a clear blue test and it's a proper dark blue line now... yippeeeee!!!

Got heavy boobs and swollen lady bits - all other symptoms weren't so clear.

My womb feels like it's a bit achy - is this normal?

bossyboop · 22/04/2010 19:14

OMG how ridiculous is this...getting emotional watching fireman sam! Tho to be fair the little girl did badly hurt her foot and sam and the dog saved the day...oh dear i have lost the plot! What is even more ridiculous is that im only 1-4 dpo, think im beyond help!

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 23/04/2010 13:50

Hi everyone Can i join you?

I too am symptom spotting like mad!! on cd22 of a 27/28 day cycle. Have been ttc#2 for 23 months, and had my second round of clomid this month. (i was taking clomid for 3 months before and had a months break in between).

I promised myself i wouldnt think about it this time and just relax, but i cant help feeling a little bit strange.
I have been really tired the past few days, and have been having strange achey feelings in my lower stomach since yesterday, and also have an achey back today. I also have such a horrible taste in my mouth, cant really describe it as metallic, just horrible.

Last week i made a salad for dinner and ate a pickled onion (which i love),and it tasted of cinnimon and nearly made me boke lol my df said they tasted absolutely normal, and i must be imagining things. Obv i know it was way too early to be a symptom but u just never know!!

Congrats to all of you who have got your bfps!!!

MyThumbsHaveGoneWeird · 23/04/2010 14:20

Congratulations Emma and Hopeful!!!

Emma, I shared a flake with a friend last night and it tasted really nasty, almost rancid. I thought of you! Not such a random symptom after all!

Parker23 · 23/04/2010 16:14

Your posts made me laugh! I'm exactly the same and no matter how much I try to chill out and just wait till I miss a period, those little demons in my head keep saying, 'Ooo! Hang on! Maybe that spare tyre around your waist isn't due to the massive take away you ate! Maybe your pregnant!'

I miscarried in Dec/Jan too Dirty girl. It was very early on but it kinda gave me hope that we'd get pregnant again soon. I know it doesn't really happen like that but you've got to keep hoping eh? I had a really bad few months, just feeling rubbish and hormonal. Totally out of sorts.

Then I finally started feeling better and much less desperate about it all. More energetic and was looking forward to Summer BBQs without watching what I drank etc. So sod's law, I suddenly started feeling really ill yesterday. It's approximately 6 days till my period. So here I am again, as with every month, wondering if the 48hr bug I've got is a sign that I'm finally pregnant again!

If we weren't trying to conceive I'd just take it for what it is, a bug! But since we first started trying (16 months ago) I've been convinced that I'm pregnant EVERY month!

Just so you can share my pain, here are the symptoms of my 'bug,'

Nausea
Dizziness/feeling faint
Dry mouth/Raging thirst
Bloated tummy/light cramps
Aches and pains
...and a couple of other more intimate symptoms that I won't go in to now!

Now we all know what we'd be thinking with THAT list eh! : D Lets face it, I only wrote it here in the hope someone would say, 'OMG you're definitely pregnant! No doubt about it!.' Hehe!

bossyboop · 23/04/2010 18:24

I found a great website which had women with bfp talking about their symptoms and how many dpo they got them and was great to see lots of symptoms like described here within a day or 2 of ovulation - helps to give hope that it isnt that ridiculous after all!

At the mo ive got the whole dry mouth and thirst, extremely tired, a bit sensitive to smells and feeling sick with it, major blue veins on the tops of my thighs. Ive come to realise I usually get a little achey tummy at ovulation and a feeling of fullness just after so not reading too much into that. Also a headache and dizziness and a fair bit of cm even tho ovulation been and gone (unless this is where ive made a mistake and ive ovulated later than i thought and therefore missed the boat so to speak!). Tho dont feel pregnant but then again tbh i didnt feel pregnant even when i was if it wasnt for the ultrasound i wouldnt have believed them! Oh and of course very weepy.

HevaU · 23/04/2010 21:01

Hi All

Well AF was due on Wednesday normally like clock work, well she has not showed her ugly face!!! but every time i do a test its BFN so decided to book my self in with the doctor on wednesday if she shows up before theni'll cancel but we will have to see.

not feeling any different at the moment - suppose i'm more grumpy then normal oh and my tummy is cramping a tiny bit so who knows... will keep you all posted x

bossyboop · 24/04/2010 09:25

This morning cramps (lower abs and back) thought maybe bad constipation, tho having been to loo still very achey, would think af was due in a few days but only cd16, sat with hot water bottle. Dont know if this is a good thing or not. Feel very achey and sore but way too early for what would be pre menstrual cramps even tho feels just like that. Ive no idea what to make of this so will keep browsing...

Bicnod · 24/04/2010 17:02

Hello ladies, mind if I join you? I'm on cycle 4 of TTC baby number 2. I think I ovulated 8 days ago and am CD22 today. AF due next Saturday.

So my symptom spotting is driving me nuts. I've got AF like cramping going on and increased CM (sorry for TMI ). Trying very hard to be sensible but can't help hoping.

I hate this 2WW

bossyboop · 24/04/2010 17:19

hello, double checked my calendar and im actually on cd17, cramping like af today tho not due for another 10 days or so...

www.twoweekwait.com/bfpsymptoms/dpo/

this is a good site for those who want to compare their early symptoms against those who had bpf, im about 5dpo and was glad to see lots of people on there who also had cramping at 5dpo who went on to have a bfp, gives some last hope for all those frantic symptom spotters and well we have to stay positive dont we!

CappuccinoCarrie · 24/04/2010 18:33

Can I drop in? AF due tomorrow. I read this thread yesterday and recognised so many of my symptoms such as the taste of tea changing(and I've had much more saliva since you pointed it out...) but the point I knew I had to join you was when I blew my nose and there was a little bit of blood and I thought "my mucous membranes are changing!".
I had awful tummy cramps earlier, then a very bad toilet experience [TMI] and have had niggles all day and have my usual spot breakout. But still...till I see blood there is hope. Having already had two children you'd think I'd recognise the symptoms, but no! I think the only symptom was a lack of period. No obvious blue veins on chest, but then none of my symptoms (like sickness) really got going til about 6 weeks with my previous pregnancies. I've got a scan on Tuesday checking for ovarian cysts, obv I'm hoping they find a baby! We're 3 months into ttc #3.

bubblebrain · 24/04/2010 19:00

Hello,

Been absent for a bit as the big AF reared it's ugly head! Bugger (day 39 in the end!) Oh well on to next month. I don't want to dampen any hopes but I guess the problem us ladies have is that AF and BFP signs are all too similar. I too had the too much saliva, low back ache, spots, metallic taste and a nauseous feeling throughout the day until in the end AF appeared and I had to conceed that this was not our month.

I will keep my fingers crossed that the signs Cappuccino, Bossyboop, Parker and co are feeling turn into BFPs. Keep us posted ladies!!

bossyboop · 24/04/2010 19:01

oooooooooooo cappuccino i had the changing membranes yesterday, wondered if it could be classed as a symptom!

good luck for tuesday!

bossyboop · 24/04/2010 19:19

bubblebrain, i feel your disappointment, im searching for something to say but im not sure what, guess all i can say is that you arent alone, we are all here sharing our highs, lows, disappointments and ridiculous symptoms united in our common purpose of being sent round the twist in our quest for a baby!

Parker23 · 25/04/2010 09:17

Oh Bubblebrain! I'm so sorry to hear that! It's such a horrible thing to have to deal with the disappointment, especially when your feeling the usual hormonal blues of AF! Has anyone elses hormones gone sky high since TTC. I never used to experience such extreme symptoms till we started trying? I've had 14 months of this hormonal roller coaster! I wanna get off!!

On a lighter note, after reading this thread yesterday, I was chatting to my husband and managed to rather disgustingly, spit at him whilst trying to pronounce the word 'cervix.' I wish I could say I was mortified and apologised profusely but what I actually did was leave him grimacing as he wiped his face whilst I skipped off, delighted at the possibly that had excess saliva!

What has happened to us!?

bossyboop · 25/04/2010 09:58

Dont know about anyone else but since all this symptom spotting ive learnt so much more about my monthly cycle and whats happening before, during and after ovulation and how i seem to get irritable at the same time each month and tired, and that my so called pregnancy symptoms are just part of my monthly cycle, including bloatedness. So I at least understand my body a bit better at least if nothing else.

bubblebrain · 25/04/2010 14:12

Parker LOL. We are all going mad aren't we! I hope the excess saliva was a good sign (your husband may be a little more understanding then!!) Thanks for your kind words! Onwards we go!

bossyboop · 26/04/2010 10:54

I always look for positives in that if it hasnt worked this month then it means the baby wont be due so soon after xmas so would give a break financially, if it doesnt work next time then it means baby will be due later again when the weather is better for pegging the extra washing out etc etc

My latest 'symptoms' are feeling starving even if ive already eaten and tummy feeling sort of tight and quite firm. The runny nose continues and was feeling a bit sick again yesterday and didnt like the smell of dd cheese even tho i love cheese and was just a double gloucester! Couldnt bear the smell of the citrus shake and vac the other day...clutching at straws??!! I will keep charting my symptoms anyway!

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 26/04/2010 11:55

Bossy i will join you in the clutching at straws camp . I was at df's parents house yesterday for a birthday party, and the smell of the bbq pork ribs in the oven was really making me gag (the last time i gagged at a smell was when i was pg with ds and a customer came into my office with really bad body odour lol)

Not sure what to make of these disappearing/reappearing symptoms

I had really sensitive nips for a few days but thats gone now, cramps are coming and going and the only consistant symptom i have is that i am still really tired.

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 26/04/2010 13:26

just reading back over the posts and we all sound like mad women!!! im going to have such a red face when af arrives in a few days
