I thought I'd start a thread for all of us who worship at the shrine of Toni Weschler, spend whole seconds analysing cervical mucus, slip over in the shower checking cervical position and spend two minutes every morning flicking their heads from side to side in a valiant attempt to stop a baby pulling the thermometer out of their mouths. Ladies, this thread is for all of us, may it see many many BFPs!

very for you, it must be gutting.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 31/03/2010 19:53

Right! You ladies are a bad influence - I have now invested in a copy of TCOYF much to the annoyance of DH, he thinks I'm losing the plot.
Plenty of reading to be done!

spilttheteaagain · 31/03/2010 21:03

I told myself I wouldn't get obsessive... and there I suddenly was researching it all on the web, throwing away my pills about 4 months earlier than planned, temping like a mad thing, thoroughly inspecting CM in the loos at work... it gets to us all in the end!

Yesterday I found my cervix for the first time, which was a great relief. I was beginning to wonder if I had one up there at all

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 31/03/2010 21:24

I havent told him about that bit yet, otherwise he will really start to worry about my sanity!

LittleSilver · 01/04/2010 18:50

rofl tea.

I didn't pop by last night as was very upset becaueDH was poorly and refused to oblige me on my (what I think is, and TCOYF has decided is) Peak Day. So I slunk off to bed in a huff. The DH happily changed his mind, so phew for that!

Anyone got any tips on gauging one's os if you've already given birth?

spilttheteaagain · 04/04/2010 23:12

Evening ladies, come on we can't let our thread die so soon!

I'm quite chuffed as I've just seen my first set of raised BBT's which would suggest I ov'd on day 20 I think (which ties in with the whole clear CM thing). Now have to wait and see how long my luteal phase might be. Most interesting!

meggles · 05/04/2010 18:46

does anyone chart vaginally? its suppose to be more stable/accurate - but hmmm....

spilttheteaagain · 05/04/2010 19:48

well I use my mouth, and my numbers are looking fairly stable so I don't plan to change.

There's something somehow unappealing about your first waking thought at 6am being "where's that cold stick I need to insert...?"
Also all the necessary wriggling would let far too many draughts in under the duvet!

Apparently you can chart orally, vaginally or anally though as you choose. Orally being least accurate but most convenient. Are you thinking of trying a non-oral route?

decafgirl · 05/04/2010 20:53

oh, do excuse me! xxxxx

spilttheteaagain · 05/04/2010 22:23

...

meggles · 06/04/2010 09:53

the only reason i think i might change to 'down there' charting is that i wear a mouthguard at night (really does wonders for our sexlife, can i tell you). in the morning i have to take it out, and then pop thermometer in. i know it doesn't sound like a lot, but it can be a faff. since i always sleep naked, the 'vag' route sounds slightly appealing. but i agree- anal temping is just and

hippychick66 · 06/04/2010 10:47

Hi, just wanted to say that I recently bought Toni's book and I am a complete fan now. She helped me identify that I ov'd early this month (which meant we were SWI at the right time ).

Also I had mid-cycle bleeding which I thought was a bad sign due to my recent MMC (discovered at 12 weeks - baby only got to 8 weeks ).

Anyway, Toni was able to reassure me that the mid-cylce spotting was a secondary sign of ovulation - it fitted in with my CM and, in retrospect, it also fitted in with my temps. And was actually a really good sign.

I thought i knew all about fertility but this book has taught me loads more.

I have sort of had a feel about for my cervix but must admit to only using CM and temps at the mo. Apparently if you've had a vaginal delivery then your cervix never closes completely - if that helps anyone.

As for where to take your temp, I'll stick with mouth. I have 7 & 9 year old boys who occasionally catch me temping - imagine the embarassment if I switched to vaginal or worse - anal .

ps. littlesilver I am not stalking you - i promise. I think we are just obsessed interested in the same things.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 11/04/2010 17:30

I invested in Toni's book a couple of weeks ago and I cannot put it down! It's taught me far much more than I'd thought - to think how much money I've forked out on OPKs!

decafgirl · 11/04/2010 20:20

Ladies, as the experts can anyone of you tell me why my temperatures have now risen to 36.60 for the last 4 days?

I'd presumed this was an anovulatory cycle but did have spots (so lovely!) and what I thought was EWCM earlier in the cycle (CD15ish) but today is CD39 when I've had 33/34 day cycles for months now.

I had a BFN on Friday morning so not getting any hopes up, I'm just utterly confused by my stupid body!

Oh, the days before this temp shift showed no other signs of ov either... xxx

LittleSilver · 11/04/2010 20:34

decaf, maybe you just ov'd late? Ihave to say, I have noticed distinct dearth of ewcm this attempt at ttc. I am putting it down to being that bit older (29) than I was when ttc DDs1-3! Who's next to test? Hi hippychick! Where is SBF these days?

OP posts:
meggles · 13/04/2010 15:44

i should be getting 'watery' CM sometime soon - which is as fertile as i get. feel like a ticking time bomb!

spilttheteaagain · 14/04/2010 19:48

I'm on my period now, which I'm actually quite pleased about as it's the first full cycle after the pill.

Turned out to be 29 days, ov'd on day 19/20 I think, so a 10 day LP which all things considered, seems pretty reasonable (I was on Cerazette before and shat myself somewhat when I read some of the horror stories about how it can bugger up your cycles).

Ladies, can you clear something up for me - when you see a temp spike, do you assume you ovulated on the day before the raised temps, or the first day of the raised temp? Thanks

decaf any update on your situation?

LittleSilver · 15/04/2010 19:32

split I asume I ov'd the day before; so, if I got a spike on CD 20 I think I ov'd on CD19. Are you on FF, because normally it will tell you? (no expert though!)

Well, AF got me despite SWIing diligently on Ov day -3,-2 and 0. Bugger. How could a million or so sperm MISS the damn egg?

On a different note, I checked my CP in the bath last night and oh my gosh I noticed the difference! It obviously is just experience, because I found it so hard at first.

OP posts:
decafgirl · 15/04/2010 21:20

Still not ready to start locating my cervix!

spilt I'd assume cd19 was ov day and I'd be SWI 17/18/19/20 if I could...

Quick update from me; I think littlesilver was right - I must've ov'd late and think I'm in with a slim chance of success. I reckon I'm 10dpo today, feel sick and have slightly weird boobs. Probs all in my head but still.... Oh, temps still good and high too!

LittleSilver · 15/04/2010 21:58

decaf sounds as if you might not need to locate that cervix as sounds very positive! When are you going to test? Do you temp in Celsius? Can I ask what kind of pre and post ov differential you are experiencing? Pre I'm about 36.20-35, and post 36.50-75.

OP posts:
decafgirl · 15/04/2010 22:29

I'm definately in celsius (am v dim at farenheit!) I'm usually about 35.90/36.10 pre ov then 36.35/36.40 post ov and have been about 36.55/36.60 for the last 8 days. Oooooooh, I'd love to be pg!

My temp went from 35.90 to 36.30 on cd33/34. In previous cycles it's roughly the same. The only time I've ever been 36.70 is when I was pg with my DS....

How wrong of me is it to snuggle a little bit further down in bed to ensure I'm as warm as I'm gonna be before temping?!

How's things with you littlesilver? xx

decafgirl · 15/04/2010 22:36

Oh, am hoping to test on monday - maybe it'll be a good start to my week?! First day back after the easter hols xxx

LittleSilver · 15/04/2010 22:40

Oooh decaf it sounds as if you have gone tricyclic!!! How exciting is that! And you are holding out til Mon, so you will be 14 dpo, is that right? "Snuggling down" to ensure warmth, decaf I have done that, also swapping thermom round mouth to ensure it finds hot spots! Am on CD2 argh so still ages before I can even SWI. Oh well, will put time to good use by SWOI to confuse DH and make him think it's not just about babymaking.

OP posts:
decafgirl · 15/04/2010 22:49

Yep, will be 14dpo by mon (hopefully) so will defo poas if the witch doesn't get me first. Am so pleased I'm not the only one to try and up my temps! Not sure what good I think it does my mental health but what the hell eh?!

CD2 is defo the dull part of the cycle (almost as dull as CD42!) but good luck tricking proving to dh it's all about the romance...

hippychick66 · 17/04/2010 20:06

Hello ladies. I usually temp at 36.20/30 for the first half of my cycle and then go up to 36.60/70 for the second bit - have no idea if that's good but it seems ok based on Toni's book and I think it means I defo ovulate.

I am on CD 7 or 8 (my period takes a while to get started and I'm never sure when to count day 1 from) and I just got a faint line on an OPK - I'm guessing this means I'll get a more definte line tomorrow and probably ovulate about day 10/11.

Since the MC I seem to be ov'ing very early but that's quite good (as long as the LP is long enough) cos it means that no sooner is your period over than it's time to SWI (shag with intent).

I am going to use Serenity Progesterone cream this month just cos my LP was only 11 days last month and i want to extend it a bit.

I know it's daft but last month on day 20 I felt like I was definitely gearing up for a BFP (judging by the boobs) and then suddenly on day 21 my temp dropped and by day 22 I started spotting and it was all over. I know it's a long shot but I'm hoping that by using the cream from the first day of temp rise I might extend the LP and give any possible embryo a chance to bed in and snuggle down.

Can't wait to hear how the test goes on Monday decafgirl.
xxx
