Aries thanks for the heads up, I'll go and have a look and send her my best now.

felicityFlick · 05/04/2010 11:04

Hi all,

aries I need your help. DH's parents are DOING MY HEAD IN- aghhhhhhhhhh! How did you cope? They've only been here three days and they are staying for two weeks. Oh god!

I have seen aly's post- poor thing. Fingers crossed and good vibes coming all the way to LA.

Welcome pinkypoo!

Great to hear from you kurly have a lush holiday
Glad AF arrived mrswajs- well I'm not of course, but you know what I mean!

I missed calligraphy's post but am guessing she is taking a break from ttc? If you are lurking calligraphy I'll be here when you get back I'm sure Hope you get well soon xxx

cavemum- I LOVE a plan!! Any baby that I have will also be the most planned ever as I have been regulating my cycles for a while now and it has really been so useful.I will keep you company while you wait as I can't start trying until after July's AF due to the waiting period on our insurance and my friend's wedding in NZ.

Big waves to all.

Ariesgirl · 05/04/2010 11:12

In all honesty, Flick, if they are staying for two whole weeks then they are bound to do your heads in. Are they they type who will willingly go and do things themselves? My parents are, and so I can cope with them longer, but the PIL are the types who insist on doing everything together and get offended if you suggest anything otherwise, even if they don't actually seem to enjoy our company and spend the whole time picking fights and being awkward. And she doesn't do a thing round the house - sits on the sofa and expects to be waited on. doesn't even put a coffee cup in the dishwasher! Yet DH is so scared of annoying his mother that he won't put his foot down (makes me want to beat him with a baseball bat). If I were you, I would make up prior appointments that involve you being apart for several hours - meeting friends, or a doc's appointment, or seeing someone in hospital etc (my MIL though would probably insist on coming with me just to check I'm not enjoying myself). Insist on it.

CaveMum · 05/04/2010 11:17

Ok Im having a bit of a moment this morning and cant find the graduates thread! Can someone please point me in the direction of?! Honestly, you'd think I had pregnancy brain or something!

felicityFlick · 05/04/2010 11:26

Thanks aries !! Mine is the opposite to your mil. She won't sit down! She is such a fusser and is always tidying and cleaning when there is not even anything to do, She makes me feel like I must have such a dirty house as she is always cleaning it! I know she is just trying to be useful but I can't help taking it personally! I think I just need to chill out- they are nice but I like my own space. they are always wittering on and talking and flustering and fussing about ridiculous things!

We are off on holiday with them tomorrow for five days - I am dreading it a bit as dh and I are v.lazy on our hols and just get up late, read books and laze around. They are early morning people and I know that they will make me feel like a lazy sloth but it's my holiday too so I plan on taking lots of books and ignoring them and reading and doing what I want to do!

When we get back from holiday dh and I are back to work so that will be a bit of respite for me- they are quite good and will go off and do things on their own so am sure once I am used to them they will be ok

Dinkytinky · 05/04/2010 11:59

Morning (just!) all!
Hello mumsnerves how's everything going?
mrswajs sorry to hear about af but at least you know what's happening.
flick and Aries lots of sympathy about parents and pil's! My mum and dad are like yours Aries but the inlaws are a bloody nightmare! My parents are really independent an just fanny about, I think the most my dads ever asked for is a cuppa and a cheese sandwich haha! But lord, dp's parents ..... Eurgh, his mum is forever makig 'helpful' suggestions like ' ohh dinky, there's some washing up there..' and she's forever nosig about in our financial affairs and when we all go out we have to go to about 8 restaurants if she doesn't like my choice, then insists on paying and brings it up for the next 2 months as though we couldn't afford it, when dp is lucky to have a very good salary!!!! Gah!
cavemum lol military precision or what?! I reckon you'll get knocked up first time!

not much going on here- have only had one easteregg so I'm feeling a bit hard done by! On the tww, not sure why but I'm having a positive ( no pun intended!) feeling about this month!
Hope you all enjoying a lovely weekend! X

claireinthecommunity · 05/04/2010 12:47

Hello everyone, yet another flying visit from me!.

Logged on to check if there was any news from Aly - thanks for the heads up Aries, I've just made a post on the grads thread.

See you all soon x

Dinkytinky · 05/04/2010 13:14

Ohhsorry I meant to say hello to pinkiepoo too! I'm relatively new too and I love this thread, it's so friendly and fun, I'm sure you'll fit right in with all us crazybaby ladies!

pipsicles · 05/04/2010 13:29

Hello everyone!

I've popped in a couple of times this weekend, when I could sneak a looky on the computer without being noticed - it sounds like you've been enjoying yourselves, mostly, although I don't envy those with PILs to stay!!! Mine often don't bother coming because our house is too small and they'd rather stay at SILs because she's their more successfull offspring with a big house to prove it!!! grrrrr! I should think myself lucky really. I've been having a lovely relaxing Easter break, not so much choccy, but that's no bad thing!

DH and I just waved my parents off on their holiday to Wales while we're house sitting. I should be getting on with work - Am a secondary school teacher and have piles of marking to do, what with gcses coming up, but I don't want to start! DH is busy applying for a new job so we can (hopefully) move closer to home

Still no news on the AF front. My mum is of the opinion that it's too early to tell, so she seems hopeful for me, but I'm trying not to get too excited. I had more cramps this morning and the tiniest spotting when wiping (prolly wouldn't normally notice), but nothing else yet - fingers crossed! Not going to POAS until Saturday - anyone else planning on joining me?

Welcome Pinkypoo, I've only been on this thread since Thursday, but everyone is really friendly and I'm sure you'll fit straight in!

Kaloki · 05/04/2010 13:42

I've decided my body is weird, have had cramps constantly for weeks now, but they stopped for my period

Hope I've managed it ok.

DH and I are rehearsing this afternoon (music - just to make it clear! ). We've a string of gigs coming up and we're feeling a little rusty. We'll be getting some practice in of the other kind as well hopefully! .

haloflo · 05/04/2010 14:19

Afternoon all. With the rainy weather, going back to work tomorrow, DP being at work today, and generally not feeling like im pg I feel sorry for myself. I know thats no reason to be when others are going through much more but I think TTC does silly things to perspective sometimes. Its the final week of the 2ww which gets me low. I have AF type pain in my lower back, nausea and a slightly anxious worried feeling about everything. I also feel I could cry at any moment. Before everyone gets too excited about symptons, they are the same as my last cycle.

In a stupid error of judgement I had too much to drink on my birthday (sat) & felt tired and hungover yesterday. I still feel tired today & achey all over. If I haven't ruined my chances already this month i'll now spend the next 9 months stressing that I have done something to my baby. I just got carried away in the moment.

calligraphy You will be missed, I'm really sorry to hear that you have to stop TTC and I just hope your health improves quickly and you can start agan. With cavemum and felicity starting in a few months hopefully you will in good company.

I hope everyone else is ok, I'll try and do another post later when hopefully i'm have snapped out of my mood. Back to the sofa for now to carry on with my book. Its called "One Day" and is by David Nicholls who wrote Starter For 10 and is very good. I should do some exercise but we'll see.

felicityFlick · 05/04/2010 15:15

Hi Flo! you didn't tell us that it was your birthday!! Hope you had a lovely time, please don't worry about having too much to drink on your birthday. Like I said to someone (can't remember who sorry!) earlier in the week, if you are pregnant you're baby won't take anything from you at this stage as it's in it's own little sac and gets all of it's nutrients from there for it's first few weeks. Ttc is stressful so it's good to let your hair down sometimes .

I have packed 'One Day' in my suit case for holiday reading so I'll let you know how I get on with it. It looks like it will be really good from reading the back.

Good luck rehearsing claire ! What do you and your dh do? Do you play instruments or sing? or both?!

How weird kaloki?! At least they've stopped now, even if it is for AF!

mumnerves · 05/04/2010 15:19

haloflo I'm sure you wouldn't have harmed the baby. Just think of all the one-off accidental drunk pregnancies, I've never heard of anyone having a problem baby. Especially not if you take care of yourself the rest of the time! Hope you had a good time (although it does sound like you did ) Big hugs for you, you sound like you need it, just keep thinking no AF is a good thing and we will all get there eventually!

Claire hope you enjoy your 'practice' later

dinky Keeping my fingers crossed for you that those positive feelings are right!

Flick I just nod and agree with the in-laws and keep reminding myself that they will be gone soon! Hope they start doing your head in less soon. Can't you get a friend to ring you with an 'emergency' to get you out for a few hours for a break?

kaloki sorry to hear about af

Hope you're all scoffing lots of chocolate! Have a good day everyone! x

CaveMum · 05/04/2010 15:37

Thanks felicity I've been over and had a read. Poor Aly sending her lots of positive sticky thoughts.

Kaloki · 05/04/2010 15:52

felicity Annoyingly, AF has finished and the cramps have resumed My body works backwards!!!

claire What kind of gig?

haloflo I second what munerves said

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 05/04/2010 16:10

Flo, most babies in the world are conceived whilst pissed! And it takes a while for the placenta to form. I'm firmly of the opinion, as is my doctor friend, that all this "zero alcohol to be on the safe side" during TTC and pregnancy is a ruse put about by the powers that be, because they don't trust women to be sensible about it. There is nothing wrong with a bit of alcohol, just a lot of alcohol. Sadly, many people are too stupid to understand what sensible drinking means , but we are not amongst them, which can be demonstrated by the fact that we are able to string a sentence together. Each to their own, and I respect the fact that some women choose not to drink at all at this time, but I am not one of them and I refuse to feel guilty about it. There!

Oh and by the way, AF arrived big time today. A 31 day cycle it was! I used to think I was regular as clockwork, but that was before I started taking notice of everything properly. And looking back over the last three months, my cycles have been 27, 29 and 31 days. Does that mean anything to anyone? Is that considered to be irregular?

CaveMum · 05/04/2010 17:09

I'm with Aries on the alcohol front. Moderation is the key, and I seriously doubt that the odd glass of wine will do any harm. Don't forget only a few hundred years ago people only drank alcohol (ales, wines etc) as the water was not safe to drink. There weren't masses of deformed children running around then!

I'd like to think that I will drink as little as possible when I am pregnant - I'm not a big drinker now - but I'm not going to flog myself over the odd glass of wine here and there.

haloflo · 05/04/2010 17:22

You lot are so good ! Thank you for much for the kind words of reassurance. I've done some exercise, told myself to snap out of it and I feel better now. Going to catch up with a programme called 24 tonight, nothing like a few action scenes with guns and bombs to make you forget about TTC!

aly thinking of you.

felicity I hope you get chance to read One Day on holiday, I liked it . Where are you going? A holiday is a holiday even with IL's so I hope you enjoy yourself. We went on holiday with my DP's parents in September which was good. At first I think they felt we should do everything together but by the end though we went our separate ways and just met for dinner and breakfast. Much better!

dinky I had no easter eggs - can you believe that?! (The fact I had 2 chocolate cakes is beside the point) One has been eaten, the other is from M&S and best before the 12th. When AF no doubt arrives on the 11th I shall tuck and hand slices of it out virtually to all! I'm glad you are feeling positive.

kaloki Any chance your body is perparing to ovulate very early? Otherwise you heading to the doctors? Cramping for most of the month can't be any fun so maybe get checked out?

ariesgirl Your cycles sound totally normal to me, I think I that read that 24- 36 day cycles are normal & this is not just women to women but cycle to cycle. Thanks also for talking sense .

calyx Sorry about AF, I do hope your computer gets fixed soon & you are ok. Are you going to visit the doctor about TTC? Booking appointments has done the trick in the past and I do hope some of that luck will come your way soon.

pipsicles Maybe your spotting was implantation?? It would explain the BFN but lack of AF. I'm going to try holding of testing until Monday when AF is actually late.

pinky Hello! Remember OPK's are just predictors and no smilie doesn't mean theres no chance. As long as you DTD then theres a chance so let us know how you get on.

claire big wave and thanks for doing the stats.

CaveMum · 05/04/2010 18:21

Ladies IMPORTANT NEWS!!!!

Hotel Chocolate - the place with the yummy chocolate - has a 50% sale on the leftovers of their Easter stock!

More here

Dinkytinky · 05/04/2010 18:50

Haha cavemum I'm already on it!!!!!!

cherrycobbler · 05/04/2010 19:01

halo enjoy 24! it will definitely make you forget about TTC - although it may make you think about having Jack Bauer's love child ( or maybe that's just me ). Glad you're feeling a bit better - I always feel gloomy when hungover so maybe it was a bit of that too. And def don't worry about the drinking - I agree with what everyone on here has said. When are you planning to test?!

aly if you're lurking, just to say am still thinking of you and sending you LOADS of positive, sticky vibes. Hope you're ok. calligraphy, similarly I missed your post but think you must have decided to take a break from TTC while sorting out your health - hope you're ok, will keep a seat warm for you for when you return xx

aries - boo re AF - your cycles seem pretty similar to mine (though mine are a day or so longer - have had anything from 29 to 38, usually 31 or 32) and have always been told that mine are pretty regular.

felicity enjoy your hols! And def don't feel guilty about doing not very much - that is precisely what holidays are for.

cavemum sounds like a very good plan! And September is so not very far away at all...

Thanks for all the AF commiserations - bank holiday weekend has been filled with lots of consolatory wine and chocolate and feeling kind of ok about it and optimistic about next month. Apart from one madness moment when I convinced myself that lighter than normal period was implantation bleeding (yes, yes, for three days, and definitely much more than spotting) so took a HPT. Unsurprisingly, negative (!). Have decided to start temping this cycle - BBT is really low (35.9 celsius was today's) so trying not to google "low BBT infertility" obsessively. Am abit much more balanced in RL, honest...

Hope you all had good Easters! xx

Ariesgirl · 05/04/2010 19:24

Cherrycobbler I did temp charting for about three days before getting bored of it - I'm dead committed me. Anyway I was surprised at the lowness of my temperature and thought my house must be even colder than I thought/underactive thyroid/low level slow acting hypothermia. Then I read the instructions properly and it said you have to add 0.5 degrees if you're taking your temp in your armpit! or you could go for the fanjo option, but I didn't fancy admitting to DH what I was doing for fear he would never have sex with me again . Perhaps you're doing the same?

CaveMum · 05/04/2010 19:27

On the temp monitoring front, am I right in thinking I just need a digital basal body temp thermometer? Like these: www.accessdiagnostics.co.uk/acatalog/New_Basal_Boby_Temperature_Thermometers.html

I'm going to sound stupid here, but is £3.99 not a bit, well, cheap?! I mean, is it bad quality? I just expected to have to pay more than that!
It's kind of like when you get married - you assume flowers and cakes can't be that expensive, but hang on! It's for a wedding? Let me add a few 00s to the price tag!

Can anyone vouch for a good thermometer?

cherrycobbler · 05/04/2010 19:42

Thanks aries - I am taking my temp orally whilst half asleep every morning - so presumably don't add 0.5? am with you on the fanjo option, even mentioning cervical mucus to DH seriously impacts shagging probability.

Cavemum mine was about a fiver from Boots - its just a normal digital thermometer and seems fine. I know what you mean about expecting to pay more - probably the reason why pregnancy tests are sooo expensive, they know that women will pay over the odds for anything to do with TTC!
