Hello all...

My partner and I are trying for a baby and in our first month of trying. AF is due on Sat, fingers crossed i don't get to see it.

But i cant help but think this is going to be a difficult ride....I have never thought the prospect of having children ever be a difficult one but now i have started trying, I am now wondering if i am going to find it hard to conceive.

Am i the only one who thinks this? Or am i not the only paranoid being on Mumsnet??

Hi!

Hope you don't mind me butting in but just wondered where you guys are doing your charting?? Online or just on paper?

MrsWajs certainly not butting in.....the more the merrier. I am pretty useless at this charting business, although i am on the december bus which you pop your stats down, took me a little while to 'get it'!!
My OH laughs at my little obsession with mumsnet, and my little thread i started, but thinks its great to talk about it, which it is. I have told a few people about us trying but didn't want to broadcast it, as pressure would become too much, so its great we are all in the same boat and supporting each other!

Strange, people you don't know, yet i am absolutely rooting for every single one of us : )

Hello and welcome MrsWajs! Like Lucy I've started charting just so I am better informed when it comes to starting to ttc for real in June. I looked at a few sites online and printed off some paper versions of charts but then I created my own spreadsheet using the best features I liked from each of the versions of charts I had seen, I even have it set up to generate a bar graph everytime I enter information. Charting does become a bit obsessive but since I am a Project Manager by occupation I always like to be well informed and have a report that I can look at to track progress- how sad am !?!?!

Lucy loving the 'paranoid chartet' and 'knicker peeker' expressions, they sum me up perfectly!

Pinkie you should be proud of this thread it's cosy and intimate and has some lovely ladies on it!

MrsWajs · 17/03/2010 00:49

Hi guys, thanks for the friendly welcome

I have been charting already on 'my monthly cycles' but didn't know if that was the best one to be using or not - my friend suggested it so I just gave it a bash!
I've not been doing CM or temps at the moment, mainly because I have no desire to be rummaging around in the lady garden to check out mucus and no temping because I've been working nightshift so can't check them properly until I'm back into a normal routine.

Have been ttc for 8 months now but this is the first month I have charted properly altho was a bit gutted I wasn't able to pinpoint my ovulation this month.

CCBloom loving your bar chart idea!! Doesn't make you sad at all! Sounds like you'll have your cycles totally nailed by the time you start ttc!

PinkiePoo My OH also thinks I am obsessed but also admitted today he is glad I have this because he doesn't understand all the ins and outs of cycles etc! I'm sure I'm boring him to death most days explaining it all!

lucybarnes We meet again - how is the toilet training going!? I'm gonna have a look on fertility friend and see what it's like, I'm guessing probably much the same as the one I'm already using anyway!

Well I'm 12 dpo now and feel like AF is on her way so I'm probably out again for this month Roll on next month for a Christmas baby eh!

PinkiePoo · 17/03/2010 08:44

Morning...

Day 2 of a BFN on the ovualting! Rarggghhhhhh - sorry just had to let out my frustration.

OH is poorly, so think he maybe slightly relieved, but i am not!! ha ha.

Quick question what does dpo mean? never quite got that one! is it days past ovulation by any chance?

lucy i am on CD 13, I don't really have a normal cycle, usually ranges from 28-37/38.

Very very annoying!!!!

lucybarnes Hope they don't get their swine flu jabs if they're not feeling 100% I had a friend who got it as she was recovering from a chest infection and it didn't do her too many favours!
Well think I have achieved the every 2-3 days this month! Although don't think any of it was on the right days! I've tried doing it the first day my OPK's are +ve, done it the day after and this month tried it in the days running up to Ov but not on the actual days!

Pinkie My cycles vary aswell 27-32 days not as erratic as yours but still annoying, whats wrong with a nice average 28 eh!!

Thanks guys.....trying to remain positive! It is hard though when i am surrounded by preggos at the moment, family and friends, but they are older than me, that is all i am telling myself!!
Day 14 - still no sign of Ov.

MrsWajs · 18/03/2010 11:13

lucybarnes Awwww good for them!! Glad they're ok after it. DP's son was hyper after he had his for some reason - it was really bizarre! I went out for a meal with DP last night and it was fine to have some time together out of the house and without work to worry about!! Still no sign of AF and 2 days to go, not really had much in the way of cramping since Tuesday either so now trying very hard not to get my hopes up that I could be pg!! Also trying not to cave in and buy FRtests!! Keep me strong girls!!

Pinkie My ov isn't usually til day 17 and that gives me a 32 day cycle so still plenty time for you yet. Which OPK's are you using??

Haha yes I use CB digital opk's but like you say VERY expensive! Freaked out in Boots the last time I bought them when the cashier said 'that'll be £40 please' had picked up a box of 20 instead of 7!! However I suppose it is good value for money if you're sure you're gonna need them for the next 3 months, I put them back (hopeful me) and changed them for the 7 pack - only to discover them on special in tesco 2 days later!!!

I've heard a few people speaking about the CBFM but also clocked it's £99.99 price tag in Boots, so think I'll side step that one for a wee while yet!

Off to get my hair chopped now so will catch you all later.x

PinkiePoo · 18/03/2010 13:07

lucy i was going to buy one but was a tad too pricey so stuck with the CB Digitals Opks......i am another thread and someone said they have the same problem as me, and apparently ovulate too late which means they will find it very hard to conceive...

great, another new thing to panic about!

I am trying to stay calm but failing miserably!!!

MrsWajs thanks for sharing that you usually ov on day 17 of your cycle. This is my first month of charting and I was naively hoping for a 28 day cycle. I thought I had ov'd yesterday because I had a temperature dip but then my temperature dipped even further today so maybe it's today I am ov'ing? I'm on day 18 now so starting to despair and hoping every morning that I get that temperature surge that I'm waiting for. Even though we weren't trying this month and just had our one off unprotected drunken experience I'm still disappointed to know that this won't have come to anything since I still haven't ov'd!! I was really hoping I was going to have one of those dream 28 day cycles that lucky people seem to have! Pinkie I'm feeling frustrated too!!

lucy so are you saying if i ovulate after CD 10, it should be ok but anything before then it could cause probs?

OH keeps telling me to relax but im really finding it hard to and becoming obsessive, im not a very patient person, as you can tell!

Hi Ladies, hope it's okay if I join in here.. I'm TTC, we have only been trying 5 months and got pregnant last cycle but unfortunately miscarried.. still it was a relatively 'normal' miscarriage touch wood so we have been able to start ttc again which is something positive

PinkiePoo - they say most people ovulate about CD 14 but it can be between 10-17 so anything within that is grand I think (obviously i@M no more of an expert than anyone else).. key is to take the ov test at the same time every day.. you then get AF 14 days after ovulation regardless of what day you ovulated on if that makes sense!!

It's crazy 5 months ago I knew nothing about ovulation dates, when you should try to conceive etc and now it's second nature.

Got my fingers crossed for us all ladies

MrsWajs · 18/03/2010 20:47

Pinkie Think you're getting confused with the 10 day bit! Let's say for example you ov tomorrow so that would be CD15, it would be most likely that your period will come (assuming you're not pg) 14 days after that, giving you a 29 day cycle. The bit after ov and before period is the luteal phase. This can be anything from 10-14 days and needs to be this long for the lining of the uterus to be thick enough for the egg to implant and grow. So if you ov'd tomorrow and then your period arrived 8 days after that then you would have a problem. As for ovulating on CD10 it would be pretty unlikely unless you had a 24 day cycle.
Sorry that prob doesn't make much sense but only way I can think to explain it.
But anyway the bottom line is don't worry about it!! It'll happen when it happens and even when you do pinpoint ovulation to the day it still doesn't guarantee a BFP - sorry don't mean to sound harsh there but I know all too well from personal experience that sometimes no matter what you do, it's really all down to mother nature!

CCBloom I'm no expert on temping, haven't been able to do it lately cus I've been on nightshift for the last 2 months but plan to take it up for next cycle. Today possibly is ov day for you, I know from some of the other charts I have seen that ov is usually determined as the day before an obvious spike in temp which needs to be sustained for 3 consecutive days. For example (and I know these numbers are wrong but bare with me) say today it was 35.0 and tomorrow it went to 36.0 then the next day 36.1 and so on.....I think that's kinda the general idea anyway!! I was hoping for a 28 day cycle too but no such luck, at my guess you'll prob have a 33 or 34 day cycle if you ov today or tomorro? But could be wrong!
Been ttc for 8 months now but still don't know the half of it!!

MrsWajs · 18/03/2010 20:51

Oh yeah CC meant to say are you not ttc yet then? Just getting to know your cycle? And if so when do you plan to ttc proper? You've probably already mentioned all this at the beginning of the thread but I have a terrible memory!!

Hi happygirl and welcome Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, you're sounding quite positive about getting back to ttc though, which is good!
Like you I also knew naff all about how my body worked until I started this carry on! Now it's all I think about! Been ttc for 8 months myself but so far no luck

lucy haven't forgotten about you luv! Do you like my new 'do'??? Nah just had a trim nothing exciting at all really oh and a rant at my hairdresser about still not being preggers lol!!
Well even at 70squid I'll still be bypassing the CBFM!! Just can't spare it right now and I know I want a baby a lot but I think putting it towards my holiday fund is a better idea haha!! Informed DP tonight that our new plan of attack for next month is BD'ing every 2 days religiously, no excuses! We surely can't miss it that way! And if it's successful I will have a Christmas baby! Yeah like literally I put it in one of those due date calculators and I would actually be due on Christmas Day!

Haha lucy I'm not shy about the hair - have gone from platinum blonde to brunette to almost black with a bit of red in between!! My hairdresser works from home, so my only option would be to copy her hair, currently fire engine red! I gave it a bash just before xmas but unfortunately my hair just won't keep red very well!! So at the mo I have a brown inverted bob with a blunt fringe (think Alexandra Burke), but my hair grows at amazing speed so just needed to get the fringe in check today!!
Quite like chopping and changing my hair tho and I'm apparently one of those lucky people who can carry off any colour!! Happy days!
