So a slightly lighter and less scary thread for those who are chucking away the pills and the condoms and hoping for the best!

Hi ladies, can I join you?

We took the plunge and decided to start TTC yesterday. Little bit apprehensive to say the least but thinking that might be because this will be our 2nd and not sure how our first will take it. This time I am in no rush to get pregnant, when it happens it happens

takethatlady · 21/03/2010 22:33

Stepping away from the charts! Thanks!

pipistrello · 22/03/2010 08:35

Hi emsie and takethatlady and welcome. Impatient and fond of charts is a deathly combination...

On 10th day of AF here. FFS! I know one can shag for fun regardless, but I am just fed up of it.

pipistrello · 22/03/2010 08:37

Does anyone know - is it possible to ovulate while you're still bleeding? Or is that a question for one of the scarier threads?

OnlyWantsOne · 22/03/2010 08:45

Pip - dont no about the ovulating whilst bleeding, would seem unlikely - as thats not what a "normal" cycle would work, surely?

Think 9dpo today, will be POS tomorrow - cheapies from ebay...

feel really tired, and have a mASSIVE spot on my bum (which my DD noticed, great!)

^ never get spots normally... so, maybe - I can handle bum acne (lol) if I get a BFP

would 10dpo be too early to test, I dont think my period is due til the 27th/28th

BrassicaBabe · 22/03/2010 11:24

Welcome emsie and takethatlady

(Currently typing this into Exchange trying to look like I?m typing an important e-mail rather than keeping up with you guys. I try not to have MN on the screen at work.)

owo ooh a live POAS moment! You could be our second BFP.

Using counting techniques only , my fertile period starts this Wednesday. So SWI starts in earnest.

Self involved dithering ahead? Although I?m in a bit of internal turmoil. I thought it would take longer than it has for AF post-pill. I get marred in May so on one hand a BFP (would be 7 weeks pg if successful this month) would be a pain in the arse as I wouldn?t be able to drink at the wedding, or my birthday do before hand, or on honeymoon. But for some reason I feel in competition with my body to ?get going? now that we?ve decided to ttc. I?ve had my first AF post-pill, so we are ?good to go? and my body will do as it?s told! Does that sound weird?! But also it?s unlikely that I?d catch first time, so we may as well keep SWI and stop worrying. Talking myself round in circles. We?ll probably SWI and see what happens. Surely there are worse things other than not being able to drink?!! Thoughts?

frakkinaround · 22/03/2010 11:54

waves to the newbies

Brassica - My main thought, to be carried throughout this thread is 'what happens, happens'. Just enjoy having sex - if it's the right time for your body for you to get PG it'll happen. It might not happen first time but there will never be a 'right' time to do it.

pipi here might help but I think you need to stop bleeding for your body to produce FSH so you ovulate. Not a biologist though!

frakkin You know what? You are quite right! Stepping away from the calendar on my mobile. Stoopid! No SWI for me. Going back to just shagging. I have to say, we're quite good at it too

Phew, feel better now.

frakkinaround · 22/03/2010 12:12

Yay! Just keep shagging

I think we've finally discovered the purpose of this thread - it's to calm each other down when we get tempted to get a bit serious

OP posts:
BrassicaBabe · 22/03/2010 12:20

You are quite right. This is only my first month at this game. There is every possibility we could all lose our minds if not bought down to earth regularly. It's amazing how this lark "gets" to normally sane people!

tanmu82 · 22/03/2010 12:28

Just popping back in to say 'Hi'

30andMerkin · 22/03/2010 19:19

Hello ladies!

Well, first non-Pill AF has arrived, I think my countdown is getting closer....

My DH sidled up to me the other day and said 'Shouldn't you be, you know, counting stuff?"

And I very nearly said "Oooh no, that's against the rules, we're going to be just shagging!"

But seeing as he doesn't know you lot exist, I didn't think he'd quite understand!!

frakkinaround · 22/03/2010 19:39

Tanmu! How are you doing?!

I'm loving your restraint, 30. My DH has a nasty habit of responding 'is that what your mumsnet friends say?' to anything remotely conception related! Keep it from him a while longer... In fact have lots of sx to distract him

OP posts:
30andMerkin · 22/03/2010 19:41

Ha, frakkin I think he's been reading up on it in secret.

In fact, he's probably here somewhere !!

OnlyWantsOne · 22/03/2010 20:53

30andMerkin - you should tell your DP you're "just shagging" - then come and tell us his responce.

DP asked about my ovulation dates, I nearly spat my tea out of my nose... i said thats private and got all flustered, sad eh?

Bought the by one get one free from superdrug, so have uber stock of tests - what test do I use tomorrow?

An ebay cheapie, or a superdrug one?

It will be 10dpo

BrassicaBabe · 22/03/2010 21:58

PMSL @ 30's "just shagging" thought-comments to DH.

I delete my net history in an attempt to keep you lot secret! Clearly he knows that AF came and went, but that is the full extent of his knowledge I think. Poor chap.

If there are any DH's posing as TTC lovely ladies will they please stand up!

owo hmm, cheap one, save the more expensive one for a more conculsive date. Or in the spirit of the thread, step away from the stick until AF due! No, don't POAS, POAS!!

30andMerkin · 23/03/2010 09:15

I thought this was an acronym-free zone - I don't even know what POAS means??!!

BrassicaBabe · 23/03/2010 09:34

Oops. Sorry, I've been lurking here for far to long

POAS - Pee On A Stick - take a Pg test

notsoteenagemum · 23/03/2010 10:04

Can I join you please, have been lurking around conception for a while, but scared I might get obsessive.
Just shagging sounds good to me and I have evidence it works.

tanmu82 · 23/03/2010 14:30

Hey Frakkin I'm ok - feeling nauseous all day and bone-weary, but trying to be positive. Sypmtoms = baby, so I am just taking each day at a time and trying not to go crazy waiting for my scan at the end of April.

pipistrello · 23/03/2010 14:34

Boyfriend knows that I lurk and post on mumsnet, but I keep my username secret to prevent him stalking me. Although actually he would probably retreat in horror, permanently limp at the gynaecological chat in some areas.

Hi *notsoteenagemum". Congrats on the success of your previous "just shagging". Fingers crossed it works again!

OnlyWantsOne · 23/03/2010 17:55

swaggers in

afternoon all - DD munching "worms" happily, thought Id log on... welllllll i did an ebay cheapie this morning, and, I think, perhaps, that maybe there is a faint line - but I mean FAINT

did another test just now and nothing, so will do one again in the morning. I am using my ebay cheapies (which is making me fairly test happy)

Oh, and my boobs ache (and they are tiny and never give me any grief, but my oh my today I would have lopped them off)

was leaning over a desk talking to a pupil and literally jumped up in shrieking pain, poor kid thought Id been stung by some thing

BrassicaBabe · 23/03/2010 19:34

Oooh, owo faint congratulations maybe

Bli'me! They are dropping like flies on this thread. Maybe this sex lark actually works

Bored tonight. I've been working from home today which means I've been on my own and DP is now back out working which means I'm on my own again. Quite happy in my own company, but you can have too much of a good thing.

Crap all on telly, but might freak myself out with One Born Every Minute (OBEM from here on in becuase I'm going to get RSI!)

What's everyone else up to?

pipistrello · 23/03/2010 21:28

On train home after working late, feeling cross about missing OBEM!

Am very impressed at the success rate of the just shaggers (and trying not to convince
myself that that will mean something ominous for me, statistically speaking!)

pipistrello · 23/03/2010 21:32

Btw, owo , are hurty boobs really that hurty? I've definitely been deluding myself with my optimistic prodding at the faintest twinge then! Have you retested? Any news?
