Ok fellow ditherers, as we have filled up one thread (and still not made too many firm decisions) here's another one for us to continue to procrastinate and worry on.

Here's to more monitoring of relative green and redness, mutual support and occassional chivving, discussion of everything baby or not baby related, and perhaps even our first BFP...?

NHS direct may be able to help - will also get Googling on your behalf.

Deep breaths

SeaGreen · 30/03/2010 22:25

this is the nhs advice on bleeding (not spotting):this is what they NHS says- but looking at the comments it looks like this does not refer to spotting, which does occur and is usually not a problem.
i pulled out a couple more pages to help you determine what you want to do:
here
here
this - pasting the relevant part here right now-
"Spotting during early pregnancy can be very normal. Sometimes it is accompanied by low back pain and cramping in the lower abdomen.

The endometrium builds up a thick bed of blood vessels and as the "blastocyst" implants, some blood is released from the uterine wall. Of course, this is typically how miscarriage begins as well, so it is a good idea to notify your care provider and monitor the spotting. For example, does it increase after exercise, sex, a busy day? If it does, it is best to limit such activities until the spotting goes away.

Bleeding in the second and third trimesters is much more ominous, but first trimester bleeding is very common. Some authors say it happens frequently when the next menses would have been due."

Thanks confused

Not sure if I x post with your post but the the only number i have is for the midwife unit for the appointments and tehy are open during the day. Thanks for the reassurance about your friend.

Other than this I feel fine, a bit over-sensitive looking out for any other symptoms but everything looked ok at scan on friday.

SeaGreen · 30/03/2010 22:26

and don't worry- nothing's too graphic!

SeaGreen · 30/03/2010 22:29

from the article i posted- "Some authors say it happens frequently when the next menses would have been due"-That seems to tie in with what you just said..
Take care.

confuseddoiordonti · 30/03/2010 22:30

Read this if you've not found similar already.

Call the doc in the morning I think and take it easy!

lizardqueenie · 30/03/2010 22:33

Thank you guys I really appreciate it. It does tie in with what I said about it being around that time of the month.

Sea Green thanks for all of your googling, at least I can be reassured its not ectopic.

As I feel ok (other than shitting myself) and nothing else seems to be happening I will wait until the morning.

Thanks again guys xx

confuseddoiordonti · 30/03/2010 22:33

Ah, cross posted with SeaGreen. Think her links were more comprehensive than mine.

You okay? Was it light spotting? Dark red? That seems to be 'okay', it's the red heavy stuff that's worth worrying about and that doesn't seem to be the case.

You're not going into work tomorrow are you? Can'r remember if you are still off or not

lizardqueenie · 30/03/2010 22:34

confused did you know you sent me a link on how to train your dog??? Honestly made me laugh out loud despite the panic and tear welling.

confuseddoiordonti · 30/03/2010 22:36

Ah.
Er... maybe better to rely on Seagreen for these things then. She is probably more reliable!

lizardqueenie · 30/03/2010 22:36

Hi confused, sorry cross posted again.

It was light red - like I could have cut my finger. No not going to work tomorrow, still trying to sort out the big fat mess that is work but will put that on hold until i have been reassured about this.

confuseddoiordonti · 30/03/2010 22:38

Canine dancing, freestyle if you please, is what I've been recently looking up! Well, it might take your mind off things!

confuseddoiordonti · 30/03/2010 22:39

Call the doc's in the morning and take it easy. Frustratingly there isn't much else you can do. How do you feel? (Physically, I can guess mentally)

lizardqueenie · 30/03/2010 22:44

The dog stuff really made me laugh - just told DH and its raised some laughs with him too, he wants to borrow your dog now!

I feel ok, I mean I thought does my tummy hurt but no it doesnt (you can make anything ache if you think about it for long enough!). I feel ok other than that. Just got home have been up to Oxford Circus tonight and met a friend for a curry. But nothing's happened, no falls or drinking anything toxic. I went swimming today but other than that nothing really.

Its slammed the work stuff right into perspective.

confuseddoiordonti · 30/03/2010 22:50

I bet it has! Hopefully it's nothing at all, and, in your favour, it does seem reasonably common (and I am glad it has happened with a friend of mine as I don't feel as if I am solely going on Dr Google!)

lizardqueenie · 30/03/2010 22:53

Thanks for your support. Have got the no for the midwife unit so will give them a call in the morning, hopefully this is be it and nothing else will happen but even if there's nothing else I think still worth giving them a call.

I'm gonna try to get some sleep (knowing full well that will be easier said that done) but feeling more tired isnt going to help.

Night night and will keep you posted tomorrow. xx

confuseddoiordonti · 30/03/2010 22:56

Night and good luck x

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 30/03/2010 23:23

LQ hope you are managing to sleep and not panic too much. Spotting in first trimester is v common and usually not significant. Cramping around this time is also to be expected (currently got lots of PMT type aches myself at the moment).

In view of you recent scan, I thik you probably have less reason to fear the worst. However, do ring either the midwife unit or your GP tomorrow morning. It's worth having a quick trip to the Early Pregnancy Unit to check that all is ok and your GP should be able to refer you.

Hope all goes well tonight and you get confirmation tomorow that everything is going to be fine.

HP fertility friend guesses a lot. The last month of charting I had a temp hike 9dpo and I was up the duff then. In my experience high temps = pregnant, low temps = AF imminent.

If you were wearing gum boots, you'll be fine. However, if a super swimmer did slip through, just remember you mustn't dress a girl in pink!

confuseddoiordonti · 30/03/2010 23:29

YTD shouldn't you be in bed?!

SeaGreen · 31/03/2010 00:10

i'm lurking too

lizardqueenie · 31/03/2010 08:19

Pleased to say that this morning there are no further signs of any spotting at all - just got off the phone to the GP who said that it was v common and that their advice would normally be to rest up etc.He said not to panic being as i had no other symptoms or pain. So - just going to take that advice. He initially seemed a bit narked that I had gone for the early scan but when I explained why (previous mc, endo) he calmed down a bit and that seemed to reassure him everything would be ok - no talk of sending anyone to an early scan unit. Hmmm.

Anyway panic hopefully averted for now, keeping everything crossed and thanks again all for your sensible & kind words during my panic.

YTD it was a relief to hear that you are having a few PMS symptoms too, not that i'm wishing them on you of course.

confuseddoiordonti · 31/03/2010 10:11

Great news LQ

Can't write more as on my way out but back later. Have a lovely day ladies! (and a lovely and lazy one LQ!)

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 31/03/2010 13:39

Great news LQ, although your GP has no bloody business being narked if you choose to go for an early scan. For what its worth, I think he's given you the best advice. You need to rest up, look after yourself and not stress too much. When's your appointment with the midwife?

I guess this puts your problems with work into a bit of perspective. I didn't comment earlier (events overtook us!) but I think moving off the project that was stressing you out is the best thing for you. Now is not the time to be engaged in work projects that you are passionate about - you have a much more important project on your hands now. And work is neccessarily going to have to take a back seat. For me at the moment work is a means to an end, I aim to be as diligent as I can until I go off on mat leave, but I am not at all bothered about what I actually do at work anymore.

I've just watched OBEM on 4OD (am off work this week using up annual leave) and have been left a sobbing emotional wreck. Still feel a bit in denial about birth - despite teh inevitability of this whole process, I still don't really think that I'm actually going to have to do that. I hope I'll be stocial and have plenty of stiff upper lip, but I can imagine that I'm going to be sobbing and swaering and screaming for drugs at the first opportunity!

LQ - great to know you?re fine. hope you're having a nice relaxed day.

Ha! Talk of lurking around MN too long! Dreamt last night that I had a girl. Only,I didn?t know what to do- how to feed her, take care of her, etc! Must channel energies into other things! I think I?ll go check out the link that confused posted yesterday
