Afternoon all! Welcome to strawberry and jellytots!

Am quite Envy of all the dec/jan TTCers, I shall be here after you've all gone

On the other hand we don't actually have anywhere to live right now, so probably best to wait until we've sorted that out!

By the way, I noticed some of you saying you'll be coming off the pill a few months in advance of TTC. Anyone know how long is needed? We I want to start TTC immediately after our holiday next year, but the hol involves scuba and anti malarials and all sorts of things which could mess up a foetus - so I had planned to be on the pill then to reduce risk of accidental pg-too-early. But does that mean I'm unlikely to get pg for several months afterwards? Should we just switch to condoms and be extra careful during the holiday?

Minipie - I think there is a school of thought that you have a fertile 'spike' as soon as you stop taking the pill. So maybe staying on the pill wouldn't be a bad call if it's risky with the drugs. Think the biggest reason that people stop in advance of TTC is so they can effectively track when they conceived/ due dates etc based on cycle length...which can be a bit erratic after you stop the pill. But I'm no expert, it's just what I have heard! :)

have joined new thread Smile

minipie in a few of the very many pregnancy books i have they say that you have a fertile peak immediatly after stopping the pill, and one book even suggests that if you have trouble concieving go on it for a short while so you can make the most of the fertile bit afterwards as a way to help you TTC

so i wouldnt worry about taking pill until last minute...

personally i want my body clock back in order and am looking forward to all the charting and OPK-ing!!!!

also everyone says its fine to TTC just after the pill, but i just irrationaly want all traces of artifical hormones out of my body way before a baby enters

Hi! Have joined new thread also!

Minipie I don't know much about the whole thing but I did see on this site the line that staying off the pill for a few months before trying to conceive helps reduce chance of mc but I don't know how true it is? :)

Will head over to the new thread, but just wanted to say thanks for the book recommendations and info Smile Am going to look in more detail later (hb is currently on computer and I'm on my phone!)

bebe can you freeze any of the almost-out-of-date stuff? And make cakes with the wrong type of sugar?

minipie I have the coil and not the pill, but decided to stick with it until the antimalarials are finished, just to avoid any accidents! Think I'd do the same if I were on the pill too.
