Shiney new thread before we drop off the end of the last one!

Evening all.

Sorry to sound ignorant, what does AF stand for? Hope the happy accident is so.

Bebe hope the moping stops soon.

Went for coffee to after a playgroup with a friend today who is 7 weeks, brilliant for her, but makes me qustion our decision to wait all over again. Poor DH very bored of me and my one track mind.

minipie · 26/07/2010 21:45

AF is Aunt Flo. i.e. your period. (No idea why we can't all just say period but there seems to be some MN mumsnet obsession with acronyms )

I get your reasons for waiting ... but it does take most people a few months to get PG so no point in timing it to the month really! (Mind you my own mum timed me to arrive in summer as my gran was a teacher and she wanted her around! and I duly turned up at the start of the summer!)

JustShaggingForNow · 27/07/2010 08:54

Got to love a good acronym!!!

bebe - I totally understand your views in the dreaded manflu. Mine is the same, still goes into work but with a real "poor me" face on him!! Thank God it's women that have to go through pregnancy and labour - otherwise the population would be seriously depleted!!

Still no sign for now. Usually a 29/30 day cycle. Now on CD32. Slightly freaking out because as much as I want a "happy accident" to occur, I'm not 100% convinced that DH will believe that it was an accident. Although surely the horrific binge drinking I've managed to undertake in the last month would indicate that this wasn't planned......

When do you think I should test? Thinking it might be a freakishly long cycle and that I should wait until the end of the week but that also thinking that I just want to know..... Advice please!!!

mermummy · 27/07/2010 09:01

Just- I would test now, but then I have all the patience of a ... not very patient thing (couldn't think of humerous analogy).

I am sure your DH will trust you enough to know that if you are pg then it was a happy accident.

Good luck and keep us posted.

JustShaggingForNow · 27/07/2010 09:11

Do I need to test with my first morning urine? God I'm so dense on such matters!!!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 27/07/2010 09:25

The pg hormone is apparently strongest in the concentrated morning pee, and so more like to give a BFP, should there be one to be had. But if you can't wait you can test at any time of day (esp as you have us all waiting to know too )

nannyl · 27/07/2010 09:33

yes

let us know will you be buying a test today and testing 2mo am?

good luck

bebejones · 27/07/2010 09:37

JS - do it, do it, do it now!!!!

DH has 'dragged' himself into work again today! He complains constantly about how rough he feels but doesn't take anything to make himself feel better!

Seeing my PG friend again today. Makes me all excited and sad at the same time! Can't wait til the LO is here so I can have a cuddle! Not long now!!!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 27/07/2010 09:46

Will wait until lunchtime and then pop out and pick up a couple of tests. That way I can do one today and then another tomorrow to check.

bebe - very exciting about seeing your friend today. Me harping on about being late is really not what you need right now is it. Sorry Am sure I will get a BFN and we can go back to ranting about our OH's!!! I will then be able to add irregular cycles to my rant having been pretty pleased to go straight to a 29/30 day one straight after coming off the pill!!!

JustShaggingForNow · 27/07/2010 11:48

looks like I'm going to be staying here in the waiting to TTC thread! BFN from First Response just now. will check in the morning but pretty sure it's just my body playing tricks on me.

bebejones · 27/07/2010 12:58

JS - I don't mind my virtual friends getting PG! Was excited for you! But that there is no 'happy accident'! The irregular cycles is probably your body adjusting, give it time.

Had a lovely morning with my friend, she has a date for her c-section...6 weeks away! Eeek!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 27/07/2010 13:09

:D Damn the body, I though that it had settled into a pretty regular cycle having had 2 at 30 days and one ay 29 but trust mother nature to do something random when you least expect it!!!

Glad to hear that you had a lovely morning with your friend. My colleague is on her last week in the office before her maternity leave. She's probably the only nice person here so next week is going to be miserable!! Going to have to step up the job hunting!!!

JustShaggingForNow · 27/07/2010 13:43

Ladies - some help please!

My colleague is going on maternity leave at the end of this week and I have been given the role of choosing a pressie for her.

I have asked her DH for suggestions as to things that they don't yet have but as she is super organised she has bought everything already. He suggested gift vouchers but I think that's a bit uninspired!

what do you think about these two options

John Lewis blanket or Little white Company blanket

I have approx £100 to spend to any other suggestions would be very welcome!!

x

bebejones · 27/07/2010 14:20

JS - Love both of those, but as a mum would have been terrified of using them & them getting ruined!!! Prefer the JL one I think of the two.

Have you thought about getting a few smaller things and perhaps making up a basket? Even if she is super organised there are some things you can never have too many of! These were invaluable for getting our DD to sleep properly as I could feed her & put her down & she wouldn't wake when I put her into a cold basket. You can use them from when baby is 7or 8lbs I think. We had several. And these are good too. Also maybe get something for her as well? Something like this perhaps? Also heard good things about this stuff

Can you tell I like baby shopping?! Have fun, must be nice to indulge in some baby shopping even if it is bittersweet! Sad that the nicest person in your office is leaving.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 27/07/2010 16:55

you could have a look at this thread BBJ. There are lots of lovely ideas.

JustShaggingForNow · 28/07/2010 09:00

Baby shopping was fun!! Also quite overwhelming though. I spent a good hour wandering around the John Lewis baby department and really struggled to come up with anything at all. I know that there is a changing bag that she wants but it's £180 and so we couldn't quite stretch to that! Instead I ended up choosing the blanket and a cute toy and have got a gift receipt for her with a note on it that says "just in case you want to change it for vouchers for the changing bag!!"

The team here would have been pretty pissed off if I had just gone for gift vouchers and she is pretty particular about skincare etc etc etc. I have also bought her a bottle of neals yard arnica bubble bath for her to use before and (hopefully) after the birth.

Not to self - Baby departments are not a good place for broody ladies! Speaking of which, still no sign of AF....... didn't test this morning as I thought I'd wait until Friday and then if she fails to make an appearance then I'll do another test. Haven't yet mentioned the fact I'm late to DH - probably best to wait until I know for sure rather than panic him for no reason!!

bebejones · 28/07/2010 09:09

Some really nice suggestions on there. JS - would definately recommend getting non newborn clothes for baby. We got so much neborn & 0-3 months stuff that when DD grew out of it we had very little to put her in!

DH had a little dig at me last night saying that I 'only hear what I want to hear'. Came out of nowhere & not even sure what it was about. Very confused. He is so massively stressed about work that I just don't feel I can talk to him about TTC. More stuff just keeps going wrong for him & I know TTC is the last thing on his mind right now. I just figure things can't still be this bad a year (or more) from now & it's not like I can just TTC at the drop of a hat!

OP posts:
bebejones · 28/07/2010 09:11

x-post JS. Sounds good what you got, I could spend hours in JL baby department! Or any baby department come to think of it!!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 28/07/2010 09:38

I would have loved to have been able to buy clothes but as they have decided to wait to find out the sex it's a little tricky. If it was just me buying a gift I would have waited until after the birth and got a super cute 6 month outfit but sadly I had to get something to give her tomorrow.

It sounds like your DH is pretty confused and is probably speaking before thinking how it will impact you. I can totally understand how hard it is when your DH is under a lot of stress and pressure at work. Mine is very similar and some days I just don't know what to say to make him feel better.

bebejones · 29/07/2010 09:58

JS - probably best not to indulge in baby clothes shopping

Very quiet on here at the moment, is everyone off on holiday or have more ladies sloped off to TTC

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 29/07/2010 10:06

I was thinking the same thing!

Having a shocker at work today as I ahve been landed with all the work for one of the other PAs who is on annual leave and so have spent hours listening to her boss' droning voice on tapes. YAWN!!!

Still no sign of AF and starting to go slightly mad because I can't really think of anything else. I've so far managed to resist the urge to do a FUM test but think that if there is no sign by tomorrow morning then I will do one.

Still not mentioned it to DH (he has enough to worry about without me stressing him unnecessarily!!) but if it's a BFP then I'm going to have to tell him pretty swift and hope that he is ok with it as we're going to stay with my family this weekend and there is no way I can hid me not drinking (not that me or my family are massive drinkers but they'd know something was up if I turned down the 6pm G&T!!!)

Is it bad that I am doing sympton spotting?!?!? Help me bebe i'm going insane!

bebejones · 29/07/2010 10:17

JS - Try really hard not to symptom spot it will tip you over the edge!! Stress can do funny things to your cycle, I know it does to me. So worrying about it isn't likely to help AF appear! But you do need to know before you go away as you won't be able to relax at all with it hanging over you!

I've been having really bad OV pains last 24 hours, almost crippling last night. Always makes me feel bad when they are really strong coz I just feel like it's such a waste of the little egg!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 29/07/2010 10:31

Oh No! I have no idea what OV pains feel like (that's how bloody clueless I am about everything) but it must be really crappy to have to feel that and then not be able to use the egg.

How are you feeling in yourself? I remember you mentioning that the steriods were making you feel pretty lousy - are you still on them or have you finished the course yet?

Trying v hard not to sympton spot - promise!!

bebejones · 29/07/2010 13:04

Finished the steroids a while back but still have some residual (sp?) numbness from the MS relapse. It's going & not getting worse & that's the main thing!

OV pains (for me) feel like they come sort of through my hip & radiate round (usually on one side, but this month both sides ) almost like period pains but not IYSWIM? Don't usually last as long as they have done this month. Prob more signs of my meds mucking my cycles up! Boths sides together makes me think maybe it was 2 eggs, which is even more wasteful....stupid body!

Must be v frustrating for you being at work & having to wait to test again?

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 29/07/2010 13:25

Pleased to hear that you are not getting any worse. It must be so frustrating to have to keep on putting chemicals into your body buthopefully that are doing you good and not having too much of an impact on anything else.

Quite busy this afternoon so that is helping distract me but everytime I go to the loo there is a distinct lack of AF which reminds me all over again!! TMI alert but I have had a lot more CM in the last few days - to the point where I think that AF has arrived, go to the loo to find that it's just CM.

Just looked at your photos bebe - your daughter is adorable!!!
