Hahahaa! I know Minipie - I'm never going to actually do it but sometimes it is so damn tempting!!!!I think I will just continue trying to wear him down until he gives in and agrees with me talk him into it!

It's funny when you think about it isn't it.... My body is the one that will go through the actual pregnancy but he is the one determining when we do it. I did explain that by waiting we are doing what he wants and not what I want. If we looked at it and tried to compromise fully then surely we would be trying at xmas 2010?!?!!? Nedless to say.... that didn't go down well!!!

bebejones · 05/08/2010 15:51

Whywait - Have a lovely weekend! of massage, could really do with one too!

I am planning a jungle themed nursery next time around too! DDs is currently pale green with pink bits (change mat, blind & her name on the wall) & a few butterflies, girly but not super twee IYSWIM? We painted it green before we knew what we were having coz the sahde we chose went with pink & blue, idea being we could accesorise later! I love decorating & can't wait to re-decorate the nursery & also decorate the room DD will move into...already bought paint samples for that!

JS - I'd say prob an 8/9 to plan an accident...snap out of it woman!!

JustShaggingForNow · 05/08/2010 16:01

also very of massage whywait I was going to book one whilst DH is on the golf course on Saturday but now thinking that it's a little indulgent for someone who is suppposed to be being careful with her money......

nannyl · 05/08/2010 16:31

i too would love a massage

JS on your scale im about a number 6 / 7, but really think its probably not a great idea.

whywait I literally have EVERY conception / pregnancy book avaliable from the library at the moment, (except for the ones i have bought fro myself on ebay!)

(oh and went past my bargain charity shop again and sure enough there is another IMMACULATE mother care own travel system for £5...)

strawberrypie · 05/08/2010 18:56

Hi everyone!

I'm new to MN and have been lurking for a few days! I hope you don't mind me joining in with your thread?

The plan (ha!) at the moment is to come off the pill at the start of October, use other contraception and take folic acid etc for 3 months then start TTC in Jan when back from hols! (Hello nannyl and bebejones- I think I'm possibly going to be TCC around the same time as you two )

Does anyone have any experience of how long it usually takes for cycles to get back to normal after taking cerazette (progesterone only) pill for years?

Thank youuuuuuu!

bebejones · 06/08/2010 07:43

Welcome Strawberrypie! How exciting someone else (possibly) TTC at the same time! :o I have no advice about the pill but sure someone else will!

Well I'm feeling all Confused, said to DH that I'll need to talk to my GP about all the supplements I'm taking before we TTC. He said we will talk about it after DDs birthday! Now I'm all worried he is going to want to delay again. Getting such mixed responses from him all the time :( Going to stick to my guns this time though...or at least try to!

OP posts:
nannyl · 06/08/2010 08:25

welcome strawberry pie

wahoo another TTC buddy Smile

I have come on / off the pill several times and it normally takes me about 3 / 4 months to get back on track, so therefor i have just 4 pills left in my pack and will be stopping them in 4 days time, to allow my body to get back on track

bebe grr at your DH, when is your DDs birthday? good luck trying to stick to your guns Smile

nannyl · 06/08/2010 08:28

strawberry have added you to our list Smile

nannyl TTC #1 - Jan 2011 (but start TTC after xmas)
bebejones TTC #2 Jan 2011 (but technically starting TTC after 24th Dec 2010!
JustShagging TTC #1 - March 2011
minipie TTC #1 May 2011
strawberrypie TTC Jan 2011

squirrel007 · 06/08/2010 09:16

minipie kruger and diving also sounds fab Smile

js I love Bath too, such a lovely place. I'd always thought it'd be one of the best places in England to live (though there's almost zero chance of me ever moving there!) For your list, we will ttc #1 in Oct 2010.

bebe sounds like great fun organising a party, how old will your dd be?

whywait massage sounds great, I'd love to have one Smile

Hi strawberrypie

Sounds like you are all well prepared with the books! Can anyone recommend me a decent baby book? I think hb and I are completely ignorant about babies and he loves books about things!

I am trying to convince hb that we should turn the spare room into a nursery, I think he might let me but he just needs a bit of persuasion. I'm thinking that yellow would be a nice nursery colour Grin Anyone know, what age would babies normally have their own room instead of being in with their parents?

Have a lovely weekend everyone!!

nannyl · 06/08/2010 09:24

squirrel you will either love or hate her (and not sure we are allowed to mention it on here so i wont say much,) but my favourite book is about "contented baby" by G.F.

it is controversial.... then there is tracy higgs baby whisperer.

there are a million and one books of looking after babies and they do mostly say the same things!, although GF is definitley very different from most other baby books.

why not get a few from the library and see what you think before buying?

I'm very lucky as have had 10 years practising with other peoples babies Wink and have learnt alot about what i will and will not do with mine, and what equipment i will (and will not) buy for my own!!!!

squirrel007 · 06/08/2010 10:14

Thanks for the recommendations nanny! I just looked on amazon and both are popular so I'll think about reading them both Smile

Unfortunately I never seem to be able to make it to the library, but they're fairly cheap to buy! I have zero experience with anyone else's kids, so need all the advice I can get!!

strawberrypie · 06/08/2010 10:34

Thanks for the welcome squirrel, bebe and nannyl!

I've read your posts bebe and I understand that it's been quite complicated deciding when to TTC due to your medication..that must be so frustrating especially when you DH keeps changing his mind! (but it sounds as though it's because he is worried about you so it must be very reassuring knowing he is looking out for you so much! :)

ps- does anyone know how amandacooper is doing? I read her posts and she seemed to be having a tough time but has not posted for a while :(

bebejones · 06/08/2010 10:37

Squirrel - it isn't a parenting book per se, but I have a fab book which covers loads of aspects of pregnancy & birth & the first year & a bit. Has loads of information in it about pretty much everything & really helped me! here

It's generally recommended that babies are in with parents for 6months. We had DD's nursery ready before she was born & used to change her in there so she was used to the room. She started using it from about 4.5months as she got too big for her moses basket & we couldn't fit the cot in our room!

Finding DDs party a real stress! She is only 2 so sure I will get better at doing it in time!! :o Tesco delivery just turned up with a stuff that will be out of date by Sunday & the wrong type of sugar for the cake & this is causing me major panics! Confused Just need to chill!!!

OP posts:
bebejones · 06/08/2010 10:40

xposts Strawberry - Haven't heard from AC in ages! Hope she is ok too!

My situation is beyond frustrating sometimes. Originally we were going to TTC last xmas which was before we found out I needed medication. I get quite resentful sometimes that DH changed his mind as if we had done it then things would have been much simpler! I know he is only worried about how we will cope as a family, but it's really annoying! Wink

OP posts:
bebejones · 06/08/2010 10:41

Just noticed we are nearly out of room here...anyone want to do the honours? Don't mind, if there are no volunteers!

OP posts:
nannyl · 06/08/2010 10:50

I got complete first year planner and contented babies first year and the new contented baby for a whole 70p (for the lot) in the charity shop yesturday (+ a few others)

from the library i have loads (mostly just pregnancy) but i really like conception pregnancy and birth which also talks about the earlier days with baby

I have loads more baby / toddler books on my shelves from nannying and about every baby / child cook book as well (which i frequently use for MY dinners, in fact i have just made the cheesecake in kids in the kitchen right now.... but am digressing! LOL)

loveulotslikejellytots · 06/08/2010 11:09

Hi all! Can I join too please!

Been lurking on here for a while. Hopefully DH and I will be TTC the end of this year. Having my implant taken out beginning of December now (was going to be this month, but got a holiday booked in November and want to take advantage of all inclusive alcohol enjoy myself!)After that we'll just see what happens!

Really excited!! Smile

nannyl · 06/08/2010 11:26

welcome jelly tots

a few of uss are waiting til then Smile

bebejones · 06/08/2010 11:38

Oooh the December/Jan TTCers are mounting up now! :o

Please everyone cross their fingers that DH doesn't change his mind again! Really panicing as he wants to talk about it next week & I know he is having a crap time at work which is a massive influencing factor for him.

OP posts:
strawberrypie · 06/08/2010 12:29

Hi jellytots!

bebe I hope the work thing does not put you DH off TCC, December is still quite a way off so hopefully things may have improved by then?

My DP has just finished a PGCE (after being made redundant) so our plans hinge on him getting a job in September which is a slight worry. I feel very lucky though because he is very keen to have a DC and is broodier than me at times I think! (although who knows- that might change when it actually comes down to TTC and becomes more 'real')

I think if we all waited for the perfect time to have DC we would die out as a species! :)

bebejones · 06/08/2010 12:33

Strawberry - the problem is that I have to stop medication 3 months before TTC, so can't just wait & see how things are in Dec IYSWIM? DH works in financial services & is self employed & it's a very tricky industry right now (still)...stupid credit crunch! Hmm

I'd love to do a PGCE, what is your DH planning to teach?

OP posts:
strawberrypie · 06/08/2010 12:38

Oh I see... you would only stop the meds if deff starting to TTC in Dec otherwise it would be better for you to stay on them for longer......I see, sorry for not being on the ball. That is such a tricky situation. I wish we could see into the future and predict when things will improve for the financial sector!

DP is going to teach D&T (resistant materials) but has done a bit of textiles also which I think is your thing isn't it? :)

bebejones · 06/08/2010 12:40

Squirrel - just remembered I bought this too & it's quite funny & lighthearted. Written like a diary of pregnancy so is easy to pick up & put down.

OP posts:
bebejones · 06/08/2010 12:46

xposts again - I have a knack for that at the moment Hmm

Strawberry - Yes Textiles is my thing! I was advised to do D&T as well as textiles as it would be easier for me to get work. I wanted to do Art & Textiles though, but not sure how that'd work! Confused Although I had also considered doing Primary teaching but would be limiting myself a bit there. All up in the air though as want another baby first! :o

OP posts:
strawberrypie · 06/08/2010 13:00

Bebe- I think textiles and art could work- A lot of jobs are advertised where you teach two subjects and one of which is not your PGCE subject. In theory I think that as long as you have a PGCE it is up to the school's discretion what you actually teach and if you have experience in another area they would snap you up!

ps I have recently got into sewing as my MIL (she's not as we are not married but I'll call her that) is really into quilting and bought me a kit to make a patchwork bag and I loved it- have done some hexagon patchworking and also started knitting- is this nesting instinct or have I gone mad?! :)
