HI All,

Yorkshire what fantastic news, very very happy for you , and what timing too. Glad you didnt havent to get referred after all! See you on the Grads thread!!!!

Sorry to hear about the BFN mumsnerves still no AF? then there's still a chance!

Sorry its a quick one - hope everyone else is ok. Good luck for anyone else thinking of testing xxxx

capricorn76 · 02/03/2010 21:55

Congratulations YorkshireTeaDrinker !!! I'm so happy for you. Ever since I joined this thread I have admired your positivity. You were the only other person who had crossed the 12 month mark but you never seemed very worried about it and that made me worry a bit! less so thanks a lot for that. . Congrats again!

bunnygirl80 · 02/03/2010 22:07

mumnerves sorry about the BFN. I'll just repeat what everyone else has said-if there's no AF then there's still hope.

Giraffe good luck with testing.

Zippys I hope they get to the bottom of what's causing your sickness soon. And 34G- they must be hard to keep under control

whiteroses I can't believe you've had your scan - it only feels like 2 minutes since you got your BFP. How time flies.......

Yorkshire I actually thought about putting you as Feb 29th on the stats, but chickened out in case you wanted to record an accurate date! Do you think your DH will let you tell your mum early? I think that it would be OK to tell poeple who's support you might need if it were to go wrong (which it won't!). I suppose it's just what you both feel most comfortable with. What do you do for the NHS [nosey emoticon] - everyone else on here seems to be teachers and lawyers so am interested about other healthcare types!

calligraphy I worry that if my boobs grow too much I'll generate a similar headline by suffocating one of my patients. I am aware that sometimes my boobs squash against their heads when I'm trying to reach a tricky area! Am also slightly concerned that as a lot of my patients are teenage boys that they'll enjoy coming to their appointments too much

muser good to see you popping in. I'm sure there will still be plenty of frolickers still around when you are ready to TTC again. And we have a few people on here who are on a break at the moment but still posting.

luckyseven welcome to the crazy baby ladies

Felicity our boxes are being delivered and uunpacked on Friday. I'm mostly excited as I aam hoping the unpacking guys will be like something out of a Diet Coke ad!

DH seems to be convinced that I won't get pg this month Last night we had a conversation that went like this

DH "we haven't been out for dinner in ages, should we go sometime"
Me "yes Mr Bunny that would be lovely, when shall we go"
DH "ummm, when will you have your period - we'll go then so you can drink"
Me (through gritted teeth) "It's due sometime next week, but I'm hoping it won't come for another nine months - WE ARE TRYING FOR A BABY REMEMBER"
DH "yes, but it's not likely to happen yet is it?"
Me

Now I know that statistically I'm more likely to not be pg on any given cycle than to get a BFP, but a bit of optimism might be nice!!! I think he's starting to worry a bit that we're not working, as everyone in his family gloats about conceiving on the first cycle of trying. Maybe I should book some tests at the doctors as it seems to guarantee a BFP

claireinthecommunity · 03/03/2010 01:50

Bunny, I can see why that conversation would have made you , but I will admit to a little chuckle at your DH planning your meal out around your menstrual cycle!

Sorry not responding to all, I just wanted to report in. After all day tampon-less, just had my wee before bed and I'm bleeding again I'll see what happens tomorrow, very strange this period...

CONGRATULATIONS Yorkshire I'm LOVING your news!

None at all from me; I've got cycle length 27 on the stats but my iphone app says I'm due a period tomorrow, probably am getting it too as I just feel completely normal for this time of month (usual mildly tender boobs to prod and that's about it)

I'm rushing as usual to get to work but Hello to luckyseven and any other newbies, I haven't had time to post but keeping my eye on evilgiraffe and YOU ariesgirl (cycle buddy!)

My colleague left for maternity leave yesterday and is looking gorgeous with six weeks to go. I'm jealous but not in a very upset way (in public anyway)!

maamalady · 03/03/2010 07:53

No AF still, so tested as soon as I got up this morning. BFN. I wish AF would just damn well show up now so we can get on with the next cycle! I'm feeling quite gutted, am trying to remember that it can take ages, but still feel

chalky3 · 03/03/2010 08:06

evilgiraffe aww, sorry to hear about BFN. Try not to get too down it, though I know it's hard not to. Maybe you should do what the tests advise and wait a week before testing again. You will either have AF or a BFP by then hopefully!

zippys · 03/03/2010 08:06

Morning,

As usual I am rushing, wanted to say hi to Luckyseven and any other new crazy baby ladies

Thanks for the tip White I will try to get some of the bands and see if they help

Evilgireaffe sorry to hear your BFN but as always its never over until AF arrives.

Sorry I cant say hi to everyone one but I have come on to ask for quick advice.

My appointment has come through for my CT scan for my tummy, which is like an xray. BUT it says you have to let them know if you could be pregnant. Well I am on day 30 and normal cycle about 34/35 days so way to early to test and then even on the slim chance I am pregnant then poas would not show BFP anyway!! The doctors have rushed this appointment through so quickly and pulled loads of strings so I can get seen so quickly but I would never forgive myself if I damaged a little bean I just dont know what to do Going to ring the docs this morning but just wanted to see if any of you had any pearls of wisdom (as you all usually do

Ariesgirl · 03/03/2010 08:14

Helloooooo Calyx (cycle buddie - tee hee!). Still no sign of evil red tide of doom. Well apart from, it has to be said, the too-often-mentioned boobs are now very sore and big, for me that is (must be a B cup now at least!) But that's normal for me I'm afraid. Also am starting to get those little clenches of fury whenever DH does something terribly wrong; you know, really awful things such as sniff, or swallow loudly or leaving a bit of toothpaste on the basin.

Love the story about your would-be date, bunny. Aren't men daft?

For what it's worth, I'm really enjoying being on this thread with you lot. And Bellaby I'm starting to wonder very paranoidly if I know anyone on here in real life, so much so that I'm thinking back to see if I've given any clues away. An Aries - tick. Has cat- tick. Ex-teacher - tick.

Ariesgirl · 03/03/2010 08:16

Sorry zippys we crossed. Um...perhaps you should say at the appointment that there's a chance you could be pregnant and then they can test with something more definitive than POAS? Like a blood test (sorry, I'm useless).

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 03/03/2010 10:18

Zippys I think get your overall health sorted will have the best effect on your little bean, should one be developing in there, so I would not reccomend that you avoid your scan because of wories about possible damage.

CT Scans release between 1.2 and 3 rad (12 mGy and 30 mGy). According to the National Council on Radiation Protection, 1977, the risk [of abnormaility] is considered to be negligible at 5 rad or less when compared to other risks of pregnancy, and the risk of malformations is significantly increased above control levels only at doses above 15 rad. (Info taken from the Health Physics Society website). I've done a quick literature search on the suject and the articles I've scanned seem to agree that radiation levels below 50 mGy cause no damage at all. This article suggests that medics and patients perceptions of the risk are often higher than they should be. So your doctor may advise caution, but the medical literature seems to suggest that a CT scan at this stage would do no damage to a developing embryo. There also appears to be some consensus that the stage of development where your bean is most at risk from radiation exposure is between 8 and 15 weeks, so you are a long way off the danger zone!

This is obviously not a medical opinion as I'm not qualified to give advice! (In answer to your earlier question bunny I work in NHS IT, helping Trusts to get the best out of new and existing IT systems, but I used to be a medical librarian, hence my urge to research wheneever anyone as a question!). But, having read a ittle bit around the subject, I would be pretty confident to go for a scan at this stage, provided I knew what levels of radiation would be likely to be used. Hope that helps zippys and I really hope the doctors get to the bottom of what's causing your sickness soon.

evilgiraffe sorry about the BFN. Is this your 2nd post pill cycle? It could just be your body messing you about, whilst your cycles find their new pattern. Its pretty rotten, I know, but it can take a while for things to get sorted after a prolonged time on the pill, so you may get your hopes dashed abit whilst your body adjusts. That said, it ain't over until AF arrives, so you still have reason to be optimistic! But I think Chalky is right and you should wait a few more days before testing again.

Ariesgirl I like the sound of your symptoms. If AF doesn't turn up by the weekend, I think that warrents a test!

Hope everyone else is keeping ok and not getting too obsessed. It still doesn't feel very real for me at the moment. I am planning to try and pretend nothing happened for a couple of weeks. Once we get to 6 weeks, I think I will tell my Mum. I will try and keep it quiet generally until the scan, but I really want to tell my Mum. It's not just the expecting a baby bit that I want to tell her about - my body is suddenly starting to do woerd things - I want to talk to her about it! I am much closer to my Mum than DH is to his parents, so I don't think he really gets why its important to me to share the news. So I'm goign to compromise, we'll have a couple of weeks of it just being us who knows (and you lot, of course!!), then I'll start sharing with my nearest and dearest.

zippys · 03/03/2010 10:40

Oh Yorkshire I cant get over how lovely you are . You deserve lots of

Thank you so so much for that, I think I will go ahead and have the CT scan as you say it is more important to get myself better and I am unsure when I could get another scan. I will however do a test first thing on Friday morning just to doublke check.

I can understand that you want to tell your Mum I will as soon as a get BFP.

Anyway better get back to work, but thanks so so much again

seablue · 03/03/2010 11:41

I wrote a whole post on my phone on the train and then it just went to this strange security site and wouldn't let me post - any one else get this on iPhone when it's using 3G?

But what I wanted to say was - WOW - yorkshire - what fantastic news to wake up to! I'm so happy for you. I think 6 weeks sounds like a very sensible compromise. And until then you can enjoy the feeling of it being a secret between you and your DH (and all of us, of course!). hoorah hoorah!

Hello and welcome to biscuitbreaker and luckyseven. Glad to see you've bought into our prime number superstitions!

Saying that, no sign that 11 is going to be lucky for me. Spotting went away (like pidgin's , after a small bleed on DPO 6 (like yorkshire's ) which was hopeful, but it's now back and presumably dribbling dismally towards AF. But it's not over till it's over.

bunny - I know exactly what you mean about planning for drinking! Am looking forward to my AF cosmopolitan on Friday night! I think sometimes DHs do seem to deal with all of this by not hoping - because hoping is impractical and they see how it messes us up. They'll deal with it when it happens, like a domestic emergency. They can't really understand that our bodies are so changeable that we can't just "not think about it". Have fun playing with your stuff!

Must work, but good luck to all those with late AFs and stubborn BFPs. Keep up yorkshire's good work!

claire - hope AF is settling down into something recognisable now.

zippys - sorry you're still feeling so sick. yorkshire's research sounds good. I'd think it was too early for it to be a real problem... and you really need to get yourself better.

Have a good day, all.

maamalady · 03/03/2010 12:45

Yorkshire - you are right, it is indeed my second post-pill cycle. I know it will probably take ages for my cycles to get back to normal, but the grain of hope is still there anyway! I am trying to tell myself it's unlikely, but just can't help it. I think the first post-pill cycle being 28 days exactly didn't really help either, it's like my body was trying to trick me into thinking I am super-average! Am trying to get over the idea now and just wait for AF rather than hope for a BFP this time round. Maybe will test again in another week as if no AF by then it will be a very long cycle. I can't remember exactly how long my cycles were before I went on the pill, but they were always very regular and in the region of 24-28 days I think. Arrrgh!

claireinthecommunity · 03/03/2010 12:58

I'm in a hurry too,

Sorry to hear of the BFN evilgiraffe.

Fingers firmly crossed Calyx and Aries.

Great advice there Yorkshire for Zippy.

Zippy, I totally agree with Yorkshire that getting your "...health sorted will have the best effect on your little bean..." Best wishes for your scan.

You never know Seablue, keep us posted.

A warm welcome to biscuitbreaker and luckyseven.

That's it I'm off, sorry if I missed anyone.

kkas · 03/03/2010 18:43

wow - you lot are chatty! i just read 12 pages of catch up!!!

first of all - so happy for pidgin Fudgecat and (especially) yorkshire i knew it would happen this month!!!!!! and it really gives me hope for me too

i am like aries and don't want to test until i'm 'late', but usually my lp is less than 12 days, which would be sunday, so i think i'll test then

no real symptoms, other than a minor thrush infection (no pain, just really creamy cm and funny smelling wee - sorry tmi) and some funny aches/buzzy feelings down there. boobs would normally be hurting by now, but are just normal. temps have generally been raised since ov, shot way up yesterday (7dpo) but down a bit today (but still above the coverline). oh will the madness never end?!

anyway, glad to be back with all you lovely ladies and will now be able to continually keep you posted on every twinge, etc

Ariesgirl · 03/03/2010 21:13

Where are you girls this eve? I've been out (yes I know, amazing stuff) and you're all very quiet. Still nothing to report. Husband is away again this weekend from Fri morning til Monday evening so shall be all alone with Ungrateful Cat again. Family AWOL. I shall need comforting a) because droid-bitch arrives and I'm lonely or b) droid bitch doesn't arrive and I still don't get positive test or c) droid bitch doesn't arrive and I POAS and it says yes and there's no one to tell!

Have a good evening all.

I honestly have literally no idea! Usually I would be having some spotting by now, but AF is due tomorrow or Fri at the latest and there's none. And I've had this for quite a few days now, a seasick hungover feeling with accompanying lightheadedness. It's dead weird! I bet you though that soon I'll be saying it's arrived and I feel stupid.

bunnygirl80 · 04/03/2010 01:44

zippys I would have to agree with the others over your scan. Yorkshire's already posted the kind of facts I would have tried to give you, but much more scientifically! You should tell them when you go for your scan that you are TTC, so there's a possibility you may be pg. But I have a feeling that as you would be so ealry on the radiologist may well just inform you of the risks and let you decide.

claire this would not be the first time DH has planned taking me out around my menstrual cycle - he has been known in the past to check how many pills I had left in a pack and work out when my period was due from that. I think his man brain thinks that there's little point paying for my dinner if he won't get a reward afterwards I still love hime dearly though!

giraffe are you sure of when you ov'd? Maybe you ov'd late so are having a long cycle. On ym second cycle off the pill I didn't ov till day 24 so ended up with a 37 day cycle. ANd like you the first one had been a textbook 28 days. Hopefully you're just having a shy BFP, but if I were you I'd wait another week before testing

Yorkshire I don't envy you in NHS IT - I'm sure the only way to get the best out of the computer system in the trust where I worked would have been to ban any doctors over 45 years of age from touching the computers. My consultant would manage to lock us all out of every computer in the department by getting his password wrong multiple times on all of them. His password was usually his wife's name so he really had no excuse for forgetting

calligraphy I think my DH thought it would happen straight away, but now that it's not he's feeling a bit pessimistic. Poor thing said to me thoe other day that he doesn't think we've done enough bd this month - although what he doesn't know is that we may have done it less but it was very well timed

Aries I'm pretty sure if anyone I know is on MN they will be able to tell who I am - but if they're interested in reading about my CM and how often we SWI then they are welcome to! Do you think you'll test while your DH is away or will you wait for him to get back? Either way, we need to be the first to know the result anyway

I just dropped the in laws off at the airport for their flight back to the UK. I am actually a little bit sad to see them go as it'll be another year until we see them again I drove back from the airport via a slight detour that took me past the maternity hospital where I would givd birth if ever I manage to get pg. I had better not have a fast labour as the traffic around there was really bad even in the middle of the day!! I probably have a while to plan a route for driving there when the tim comes though
