Hello
Was hoping to join this bus but have just been informed by my dh that he's going away this month...right over my predicted ovulation time! So upset and wanted to share with others ttc as we haven't told anyone. Lets hope the trip is cancelled or the little wrigglers live longer than 5 days!!

CatherineEarnshaw · 31/01/2010 20:41

Thanks. I know I'm being a bit silly about it all. But dh is going away with work over the summer too so feel like I'm losing a 'chance'. Still I know it only takes one...
Also read about shettles but think I'll just be happy with either.

hello
I've been lurking on the bus
Just thinking abou gender planning is too much for my brain. I have a girl and 2 boys so not really bothered I had. I suppose a girl would be nice for company for DD but then again DS2 would be more likely to play with the baby as (hopfully!) small age gap.

Just back from a very cold and snowy Manchester and have the fire going ahh bliss!

digitalgirl · 31/01/2010 21:32

catherine how much longer? Were you and your dp in your very fertile twenties at the time?

...straws...clutching...

I would LOVE to have my ovulation tracked. This cycle I had loads of ewcm just after my period stopped. Two/three weeks later no af no bfp. Had a 'ripe' cervix the Friday before last weekend. But cm was watery/creamy and not at all ewcm like. Followed by cramping last weekend which with hindsight am guessing was ovulation. But who bloody knows? Cervix is now well and truly closed. So am not fertile anymore. Hoping will find out what's going on this week. Have been known to have cycles up to 50 days, was so hoping that after having one dc my body would know what to do with it's cycles. Bored of being irregular again.

wow this being incognito takes work!

DP and i were having ovulation tracking ( very stressful i assure you!) and his sperm lived for 7 days

they thought we were lying about not having done it when i was found to be pg after being told to abstain due to multiple ripe follicles ....but we weren't

we were delighted having read every gender book going certain we had got a girl ...9 months later out popped 8lb 10 oz boy ( light of our lives though!)

Thanks catherine - seven days is impressive! What a determined little swimmer. I hope dh's have just as much stamina. Don't worry I have NO idea who you are.

Any news from anyone? from looking at the bus it seems that most of you are in ovulating/SWI stage so I don't imagine there is much to report- or perhaps there is but we won't go there

Medee are you entering the 2WW?

Hope you all had a great weekend- I saw it snowed again in some parts of the UK?!!,

Flick xx

Hi Flick and everyone else!

Not much to report just sitting here drumming my fingers waiting for AF to depart. Have suggested to DH that we're apply ourselves with some determination this month, he's volunteered to have an extra shredded wheat each morning to keep his strength up . Also suggested he go jogging to get in shape, but I think he should save his energy

In the meantime, he found a torn off corner of a packet saying 'clear blue digital' so have been sussed for compulsive POAS. He asked if I thought I was pregnant then - I said 'no, not at all, in fact I'm pretty certain I'm not - that's why I didn't tell you I was testing as I wasn't sure if you'd approve of my pointless compulsive behaviour'. So far I'm being indulged

Report
FelicityFlick · 01/02/2010 11:01

Ha ha Lucie - that is so funny I got busted mid POAS ! Got up early to do first morning urine test thought DH was in bed safe and sound and in he strolls catching me red handed !

Hi all, addicted DP and I also have very busy lives and only managed to SWI once last cycle but it was at the right time so I still had my fingers crossed!

It's looking likely that I will be made redundant in April so have been wondering what to do about the whole TTC thing (DP's business is also a little quiet). But we have decided to keep going after finding out that you can claim Maternity Allowance off the government as long as you have been working doing something and I have a qualification that means finding temp work is pretty easy. Am I bonkers?!?! I have spent 10 years waiting for it to be the 'right time' and now I am just so determined it seems nothing can stop me!

Report
Maclaren · 01/02/2010 11:24

Teafan I dont think anytime can be completely right! I would just go for it and do temping until the baby comes - I was in the same situation with my first and got my MAT fromthe gov they just pay it straight into your back with no trouble, The second time round I got it from my employer who decided after 4 months that hecouldnt afford it anymore (even though he is given it back by the gov ) anyway it took me a year to get the rest of the money I was due and that was from the gov as they then took my former employer to court! Thank goodness this time around I work for my DH so wont have any touble getting the money lol!

lucielooo · 01/02/2010 13:32

Ha Flick.. I wonder if it was men who got pregnant if they'd be as obsessed focused? or if there'd just be loads of suprised males who got up the stick without really thinking about it?

TeaFan DH is being made redundant some time this year as company has been taken over. Whole situation has been going on for nearly 2 years now. In the end we decided to get on with it anyway. He has to get another job baby or no baby so it doesn't really change anything. Sorry to hear about your redundancy though.

Thanks maclaren and lucie it's good to hear i'm not the only one that thinks this way!

Report
FelicityFlick · 01/02/2010 13:52

Hi teafan, same here. Moved to HK in August and decided to start ttc in November. We have a two year contract here so the sensible thing to do would be to wait two years and ttc back in UK where we would have support of friends and family etc and things would be a lot cheaper. However, we're doing it now! Totally agree with what Lucie and Maclaren have said.

On another thread ImmaterialGirl has written;

?Do not worry about costs, changes, planning and analysing.
Do not worry about whether you should have a child or not.
Only worry about one thing -do you want to have a child??

and I think that this is great advice!

Report
addictedtomn · 01/02/2010 15:30

i agree, just worry about whether or not you want a child.
when dh and i got married mil told us we weren't 'allowed' to have any children until dh had qualified (he is working on becoming a chartered accountant, so working, just doing lots and lots of exams and studding) this would have taken 3 years. we decided to go ahead anyway and ttc. as it is dh is 8 months from qualifying and were still trying, but i'm glad that we started when we did.

do what your heart tells you, not what other people, or other influences tell you.

Hi all, just lurking on the wrong bus - I'm not due on here for 2-3 weeks yet! Just to say how sorry I am to see you back lia. And also sorry about your job teafan I think you should just keep going with the ttc. I got my mat. pay from gov as got made redundant when preg. (long story but I was doing nothing so was redundant - not just preg!) I did have to do all my own research into it and go and tell the numpties staff at jobcentre what I was entitled to.

Cheerio and see you in a few weeks! (must find my optimism pills, they have got lost again!)

my dh has just been made redundant. We figure that we are hopingbhe will have another job before 9 months anyway, and it could be usefull having himhome during the ms stage of preg. Right enough it doesn't make much dif in the long run dh was made redundant while I was preg with ds1 we never imagined that happening.

DH just came down with a nasty cold, he's got 5 days to get better so we can start SWI... I just force-fed him VitC, no man-flu in this house!

DD (12yo) just found my POAS sticks, she was all . I had to bribe her not to tell my mum, cos she thinks I'm 'too old for all that'

Report
smallblackflowers · 01/02/2010 21:48

my DH was made redundant in April last year. DD was born in March so we made the decision that he wouldn't start looking for work until September. He's not even found anything to apply for up here in the North West so is now looking for contract work in London...and we're still TTC!

As he put it, we'll never look back and say we wished we had more money or a better lifestyle instead of potential DC#2. I really love him for that as I'm sure men don't feel the all consuming broodiness that we ladies do.
