Hello all, my first time on this discussion. DH and I have been TTC for two years now (hoped for a honeymoon baby but no luck).

Went to doctors last month and blood tests showed that I did not ovulate that month. waiting for referral appointment to come through to sub fertility unit but using CBFM while we wait - would be lovely to say, thanks but no thanks for treatment!

Got my first high today (Day 12), however wondered, does anyone know if it is possible to get peaks with CBFM and still not have ovulated? or is it pretty good evidence?

I'm particularly interested as everyone tells me that losing weight can kick start ovulation and I've been losing weight steadily for a while now and would be fab to find out if it worked - also want to try and work out whether not ovulating was a one off or if I never ovulate... Sorry lots of questions from a newby!

Hello everyone

My CBFM has started flashing the m sign at me don'teven think I will bother POAS unless AF hasn't arrived by next wend. Pretty sure I didn't ovulate which was backed up by lack of PEAK. Feel totally deflated this month by it all but have GP appt next week to get some tests done which should hopefully help.

So many of us nearing testing hopefully het some BFPs here!

babyhoping We've also tried really hard ths month but I've been cramping last few days too. Hopefully you'll get a BFP hun.

nanny I had something like 11 HIGH days but no PEAK. It was my first cycle using CBFM but I'm totally gutted. Others have said it's quite common in your first cycle though. Is this your first CBFM cycle/

Hi Boba, do you have any indication that you might not ovulate rather than this cycle? I´m only asking cause in my first cycle of using it I also had a lot of high days and no peak. Than the m started flashing and I got AF around 4 days later. I do not know why I did not peak, it could either be cuase the machine was still learning me or I might have ovulated later (the monitor ended asking me for sticks). I do not think it could be dur to lack of ovulation cause I was having EWCM and I had a quite painful AF. Also, although I am quite irregular and my ovulation gets easily delayed by stress, I always ovulate (doctors check this very easily with an ultrasound on the second half of your cycle).

Another detail, on my first cycle trying with the monitor, I had no peak, but on the second one, I got the highs, the peaks and I got pregnant! I ended up having a miscarriage but that was due to the reasons I explained in another post. So, I would stay positive and even if you do the tests with your GP, I would use the monitor next month...

BabyHoping · 05/04/2010 13:50

Hi *Flyingcat", I do not know any specific cases similar to the one you ask. I´ve read several scientific papers claimming that beeing overweight inhibits ovulation by an overproduction of estrogen, working a bit similar to the pill ;-). They say you need to have a reasonable amount of fat (too little inhibits estrogen production and you end up not ovulating also) and that usually you can restore ovulation either by loosing or gainning weight. So it seems very reasonable that if you have been loosing weight (assuming you had a bit too much) that you might be reducing estrogen levels to the desired ones to ovulate...

Your other question regarding the peak, the monitor identifies the LH surge, which triggers the release of the egg from the ovaries. I think that if you have the surge you ovulated, although as all cases probably there are exception and it only happens on 99,9....% of the cases. Hope this helps.

boba82 · 05/04/2010 14:05

baby I was just assuming I hadn't as didn't get a peak but I'll bear in mind what you said.

I'm just fed up of the whole TTC emotional rollercoaster ATM but am defo gonna keep on using the CBFM as I've found it really useful & interesting to follow my cycle.

flyingcat if you post your stats I'll add you to the list. We too were hoping for a honeymoon baby but no luck for us either I am just approaching end of first cycle on CBFM and although I didn't get a peak it was still really useful.

Lychees · 05/04/2010 17:47

Hi boba82, try not to get too down about not getting a peak. As BabyHoping proved, not getting a peak one cycle does not mean that you won't get peaks in subsequent cycles.

It is very emotional ttc and although I try not to get my hopes up each month, the disappointment of AF arriving is really upsetting but at least its nice to know that there is support here and people in similar situations.

I got my peaks on CD15/16 this cycle, without any previous highs. Now I'm back to a low so onto my 2ww and keeping my fingers crossed.

Hoping for some more BFP's on here soon.

Pamsie · 05/04/2010 18:28

Hi Ladies,

Hope you all had a nice Easter break.

I've got a quick question regarding the number of test sticks on the first cycle.
Basically, I'm on day 24 and so far, the CBFM has asked for a test stick sample for 19 days out of those. I'm just wondering if this is normal and whether I should buy a third box in case it asks for more than 20 sticks this cycle.

Thanks.

Medee · 05/04/2010 19:34

what's your typical cycle? I have a long one, and am now coming towards the end of my first CBFM cycle, and it asked for exactly 20 sticks.

Lychees · 05/04/2010 19:53

During my first cycle, I was testing from CD6 for 20 days exactly. I'm on my second CBFM cycle and was poas from CD9 and have used 10 so far but I am back to a low after peaks so I don't think it'll ask me to poas tomorrow.

Pamsie · 05/04/2010 22:44

Thanks ladies. My cycle is usually 28-32 days. I have one last stick left and that would be 20, so hopefully tomorrow will be the last poas day. I assumed that the maximum poas days would be 20, but just wanted to check anyways.

I think I'll pop into Boots to get another box just in case. It's just that they are rather expensive at Boots and I should have bought an extra box online sooner. Oh well, I've already invested so much already, might as well spend a bit more. :-)

BabyHoping · 06/04/2010 10:20

Anyone preparing for testing near this weekend? For me AF is due next weekend and I´m currently feeling a bit of a mess... I have cramping like AF is going to come tomorrow, still recovering from a cold, nose bleeding almost everyday (anticoagulants I have been taking probably help) and today I don´t know why but my left foot started hurting when I bend it and had to find some old pair of flat shoes to be able to come to work...
Well, I have to say I always feel a bit down on the 2ww... It´s probably hormonal, the first weeks of the cycle I´m always more positive and energetic.

AF is due on Thurs for me Baby so if no sign by Sun I'll be POAS but not holding out much hope. Are you going to POAS before next wend?

BabyHoping · 06/04/2010 11:19

Boba not sure if I will POAS over the next days, probably yes as I have those cheap tests that I do not mind using. I do feel some symptoms (like sore boobs, more than usual and in a different way), but I also had such a problematic last week that it´s hard for me to believe an egg was able to implant between the fever and the pains. I was really trusting on this month cause I felt like I was really fertile with lots of EWCM... Last month we BD on the peak but I did not even got highs and I think I probably had some hormonal inbalance... Not all months are alike, and I felt this one was a good one...

vnewmummy · 06/04/2010 13:15

Hello everyone,

Baby thanks for asking about me. I am still POAS but latest one this morning was negative too. I am due on tomorrow and the M started to flash today so I doubt we have had any luck this month. Hey some of your symptoms sound possible/positive so fingers crossed. Hope you have recovered from last week.

Boba82, I am sure the monitor is just finding out about you, hope you will feel better after your tests next week. Try to stay positive, I know its hard but reading other posts you may be just fine. Hugs.

As Lychees said, all the support that we can give one another really helps. I feel sad but not as bad as I would have been if I was not in touch with you all.

xx

boba82 · 06/04/2010 13:23

Well FC for you baby, I always keep a stash of the cheapies also, good for POAS addicts!

boba82 · 06/04/2010 13:27

Sorry to hear that vnewmummy you're right though it's such a relief to have all of you to talk to and share experiences with as all my friends in RL conceived with no problems.

Lychees · 06/04/2010 22:18

Sorry about BFN's so far. Hope we start getting some BFP's here soon.

I feel "funny" today but I might be imagining things like previous times. I'm trying hard not to get my hopes up again but at the same time keeping my fingers crossed.

Lots of baby dust and luck to all.

Nanny01 · 07/04/2010 09:48

Get BDing Nanny!

BabyHoping · 07/04/2010 10:17

Another BFN for me... I got up in the morning thinking about the possibility of being pregnant and I had to test... Now I feel quite low and sad... Assuming that I ovulated on my second day of peak, I´m at 11dpo and I used a high sensitivity test (from Amazon) with 10miu cuttoff. At 11 dpo you should have already more than 10miu HCG... I do not want to think too much about it, but I´m afraid that this might be really a negative... Any thoughts or experiences on this? I know that I should wait until AF id due... having these tests it´s probably worst than not having them.

Harry We´ve never heard from you again, are you ok?

boba82 · 07/04/2010 12:15

Don't give up yet babyhoping it may just be too early? This is the downfall of early testing, I don't know why we do it to ourselves.
