Thought I'd get a new thread started as we seem to have run out of space

Let's hope this one brings us all lots of luck!

Ok, I am currently on a secondment from my substantive job to a high profile role (it's more money than my substantive job too). It's a two year secondment that lasts until October 2011. I NEED to be back from maternity leave before my secondment ends so that I sort out what happens. At worst, I'll go back to my substantive job, but it's almost guaranteed that I'll be offered a further promotion. So I need to be in work to sort it all out - they're hardly going to promote me whilst I'm off on maternity leave ! The other factor is that dp is 38 this year and has no children as yet - ds was conceived with ex. If I don't get a bfp by May, I'll have to hold off until post oct 2011 before ttc again. Dp wants to be a dad before he's 40 and that won't be very likely if we have to wait until Oct 2011. There we go clear as mud ...

BabyHoping · 16/03/2010 14:01

Hi everyone,

Nanny sorry for your DH's pay cut. It´s tough to have a decrease in salary and continue to do the same

cupc4akes I understand what you are feeling, I also find it hard to deal with all the sucessful pregnancies and babies around me. Our time will come.

Harry when did you ovulated? Having af symptoms very early might mean pregnancy but it´s also true that the test was negative...

Right now I´m waiting for the monitor to ask me for the first stick of the month... can´t wait for a high and a peak! I really want to get pregnant this month... although it´s hard to BD consistently with so much work. I´ve been working an average of 14-15 hours a day so I arrive home exausted and just wanting to sleep.

Also, yesterday I went to the dentist and they found a significant cavity. Doctor could not treat it yesterday and I have an appointment for next week but by that time I might have ovulated. Does anyone knows if I can have dental work after I ovulated and potentially be pregnant? I´m not sure as by this time the egg has still not implanted in the uterus and also some doctors say anesthesia does not affect the baby....

Harry2007 · 16/03/2010 14:23

Hi babyhoping

Not sure about the dental work question I'm afraid but I wouldn't have thought it would affect an egg that is yet to implant - I could be wrong though!

I didn't ovulate until cd20 (had the egg symbol on cd 20 and 21, so quite late. That makes me 11dpo - any thoughts?

BabyHoping · 16/03/2010 14:54

harry, if you ovulated on cd20-21, you should get af around 14 days after, so around day 35. I know this is a long cycle for you, but also the ovulation happened later this month. From what I read, it can be normal to have af pains starting at 5 days before af is due. If you start earlier, might be pregnancy and you body adjusting. In one of my pregnancies I started with af pain around 9 days before I discovered I was pregnant.
Also, it might be too early to make a pregnancy test. What test did you do? If you have those high sensitivity ones (cut-off between 10 to 25) they might give you a positive 4 days before af is due but not earlier. I would say that you still have a chance of being pregnant, as it seems to me that af pains arrived too early (from what I recall you started mentioning them a few days after ovulation?), but I do not want to give you hopes ;-)

Harry2007 · 16/03/2010 15:13

Thanks babyhoping. To be honest, not sure if I actually have a shirt luteal phase, just have to wait and see...fingers crossed! Thanks for the advice x

cupc4kes · 16/03/2010 15:40

I wouldnt of thought there would be a problem with any dental work because until implantation you arent offically pregnant.

Im also waiting babyhoping to start testing again, Im only 4 days in though, lol. Might try pre-seed again this month havent used it for the last couple of cycles to see if that makes any difference x

Lychees · 16/03/2010 17:46

I broke a tooth while I was six months pregnant with DS and got a temporary filing because they couldn't drill out the old amalgam [black] filling that was there [if I has swallowed any then it would not have been good for baby] but the new fillings are fine I believe and I still got an injection to numb my mouth with no problems.

No AF for me ..... yet and putting off testing until I get properly late [my cycle has been known to be up to 35 days].

Cupc4kes - its completely understandable. Somehow when you're having trouble ttc, it seems that everyone else is pregnant around you. Three friends/colleagues of mine are expecting. And although I'm happy for them, I'm always wishing it was me .

BabyHoping · 16/03/2010 18:16

cupc4akes I take vitamin C in the begining of the cycle until I ovulate. They say it improves quality of cervical mucus and so I just decided to try it... You should not take it after ovulation though as an excess of viamin c might actually harm the baby.

I have been really tired, but this month I will BD like crazy... Last month BD on peak was not enough and last year I got pregnant with the monitor while I was on vacations and BDing everyday (one week before ovulation and the 2 days after)... I´ll try to do it everyday starting at the end of this week to cover my bases... Hope DH survives... LOL

boba82 · 16/03/2010 20:11

Evening everyone;

Nanny sorry you received bad news, good you are focusing on the happier things in life though.

Harry God nothing like pressure then! Hope you get your BFP soon.

cupc4akes I'm the same, pregnancy seems to be catching for everyone around me at moment except me. I have never POAS and seen a BFP and am starting to feel like I never will .

Still I did my 2nd POAS for the CBFM this morning and am looking forward to the high and peak days shoing up so we can SWI, am stocked up to the max with Preseed and Zest and have had DH on the multivits so FC this will be our lucky month.

Sorry for the long post ladies!

boba82 · 16/03/2010 20:13

oh well I take that back, didn't end up looking too long after all

Harry2007 · 16/03/2010 20:32

Still no sign of af - I was convinced it was going to start this afternoon and I've been having those "it's just arrived" moments and running to the bathroom only to find - TMI alert - white cm.

Goodness, you all seem to be attacking your next cycle from all corners with boba and cupc4kes stock piling the preseed and babyhoping BDing like crazy!

cupc4kes · 16/03/2010 21:15

Thank you all ladies for making me feel better

After reading these posts theres not gonna be much talking on the board if we're all going gung ho,lol.

Boba which do you think is better pre-seed or zest?

Keziahhopes · 16/03/2010 21:51

Hi,
sorry to hear those financial concerns with reduced income and increased nursery fees.

Harry - it may be that you could try after May, as I think it is now possible for a man to split maternity leave with the mother... don't know if this would be an option?

I have had frustrating news and good news these past few weeks. Didn't get a high at all on monitor last month. Since Jan been asking for referral to fertility - and this complicated with prolactin level being too high to conceive ... had to cancel my appointment for April as they couldn't do endocrinology element, then I couldn't get an appointment at other hospital as no dates released.

Good news - got an appointment today for May6th! At last, then even better - due to dh accepting it politely and having phoned the same secretary daily, she rang an hour later with a cancellation. So Thursday here I come! Managed to book time off work, although bit short notice.

Anyone got any advice or questions I should ask at a 1st apt?

Babyhoping - every day, wow! My dh just cannot produce semen every day, so that rules that out! Hope it works and you not exhausted.

BabyHoping · 17/03/2010 08:46

Harry did you do another test this morning? Those just arrived moments sound familiar ;-)

Started testing this morning with the monitor. Gave me a low but the first band (the estrogen one) is quite strong. Last month the monitor did not pick up any high(it went straight to peak)and I think it might be that my estrogen levels in the first half of the cycle do not change much (after ovulation they do go down). I do think cm is already strating to change although it is too early to start ovulating.

Hang in there Harry, Sorry to here about the BFN I was the same hoping though it wouldn't have been good timing either but still wanted the BFP. Now all I am hoping for is for af to finish and we can start the next cycle.

JustShaggy · 17/03/2010 14:34

aaargh - sorry Harry - for some reason didn't see this page and that you'd done stats already. Hang in there - you sound very very low.

cupcakes Big sympathies. I've reached the point where I'm avoiding pg friends and hiding all their blether on my Facebook page as well. It's like a twisting knife. Three of them are about 1-2 mths away from having their babies and had I not MC'd I would have been a couple of months ahead of them. They don't know this - never told anyone I was pg - so in their ignorance can be unknowingly cruel, thinking DH and I have decided to never have kids.
Nanny so sorry to hear your news. I am on about 50% of my usual income at this stage so can appreciate how that impacts on everything.

Hebe the CBFM has been lucky for me twice - both times last year (first time took 1cycle, 2nd time took 2 cycles). Both times we swi every high day preceding the peaks, and definitely on the peaks (I seem to get two peaks every month....?? Do others??). I usually intend to bd on the one high day after the peak, but DH and I are usually so sick to death of swi by then that we give it a miss. I think the high days are important so blokes can 'flush out their tubes' before peak days (sorry if tmi). I got that insight from the 'great sperm race' documentary last year.

Trying very hard to not do early tests at this stage... They won;t work, will they...?

JustShaggy · 17/03/2010 14:42

Just to say Harry, in my last pg I didn't get a single positive result on a HPT until late in the evening of CD29 - end of my cycle - and it was very faint. And a sample given to my GP the next day for testing came back with a 'borderline' result a couple days later so I had to re-do the GP test. And it was only on the second laboratory test that I was given a proper positive. I have no idea why...? Have you thought about maybe dropping a sample off at your GP? Maybe fetch a bottle today because you need first urine of the morning. I'm days before I can start testing and already antsy so can appreciate you must be really strung out about this. Hang in there.

Harry2007 · 17/03/2010 15:24

Thanks Shaggy it's really comforting to know that others are empathising with me. I was positive that af would arrive yesterday - just had the "feeling" and niggly pains, but absolutely nothing today, not a twinge, just some more white cm. Feeling very low though, so perhaps af's arrival is still imminent -feel as if I could cry at the drop of a hat

boba82 · 17/03/2010 15:24

Afternoon all;

cupc4kes this will be my first cycle using Zest. Thought it was worth a try as we have been using Preseed for 5 months with no success. We tried out the Zest last week and felt very similar to Preseed. I got it in the pre-filled syringes and a cool wee spray thingy which is quite handy to have in bedside drawer which Preseed don't do. FC it worksand helps towards a BFP this month!

Harry really feel for you, I have been there quite a few times. It's so frustrating.

Men really don't know how lucky they are do they?!

Lychees · 17/03/2010 16:24

Harry, really feel for you. I can understand that point when you're frustrated to tears ... been there before.

Still no AF for me yet either and I have a bad hormonal headache; like she's about to arrive. For me though, my cycle has been known to vary between 28 to 39 days [most normally between 30-35 days], so theoretically she's not that late yet.

Morning ladies

Nothing to report today - still no af, another BFN

Thanks for all the support, it really helps x

cupc4kes · 18/03/2010 12:10

Hi All

Shaggy that must be terrible for you seeing your friends esp if you never told anyone. hugs to you xx

Harry cant you go to the Dr's and ask for a blood test? Or if theres any clinics by you, you could always go there to have tests because they are generally free.

Boba I have used both of them but with the Zestica I just had the vials like how you get with the Pre-seed. Not used any for the last couple of months but gonna use Pre-seed this month and hopefully it will work for us

Everyone Dont know if anyone uses Access Diagnostics but I have a 5% discount code. The code is reward it has to be used before the end of March tho xx

boba82 · 18/03/2010 16:32

Thanks for that cupc4kes I will keep a note of that although trying to steer clear as I always end up spending a fortune on that site!

Harry sorry you're still having a crappy time of it .

Anyone POAS this weekend?

It is our 1st wedding anniversary on Sunday so will be plenty of SWI even though not @ peak fertility stage yet. I have to say being able to tell DH that we had finally conceived would be a lovely belated anniversary pressie, will be keeping everything crossed this month.
