Thought I'd get a new thread started as we seem to have run out of space

Let's hope this one brings us all lots of luck!

Hello, another newbie here .

I'm joining you all as I am using my CBFM for the first time. I have been ttc #2 for six months now and at 36 yo, age is not on my side. My DS is two and we got pregnant in our second month of trying; I think we were lucky that time.

I am on CD24 and AF is due 17th March so far I have no symptoms to note.

Sending you all lots of luck.

Harry2007 · 10/03/2010 20:59

Hi Lychees and welcome!

If you post your stats, I'll add you to the list

essenceofSES · 10/03/2010 21:16

Harry - thanks for replying
I guess I was hoping to be able to use CBFM before I get my first period. I'm not convinced at this rate that my periods will be back by the time we want to ttc...

Maybe I'll keep an eye on this thread and wait and see what happens with my cycle...
Good luck all!

Lychees · 11/03/2010 07:58

Harry - What stats do you keep an eye on ? I'm a bit clueless when it come to abbreviations .

BabyHoping · 11/03/2010 09:07

Welcome SES and Lychees! SES If you ovulate you will have a period, so in a practical way waiting for your period will only delay the TTC for one month. I would follow the variances in CM as you were saying for possible signs of ovulation, but I would only use the monitor after the first period.

BabyHoping · 11/03/2010 09:11

Hi Shaggy, sorry for your MC, hope you are recovered.
In my stats you can see that I added TTC #4 (had 3 miscarriages before, so I´m counting this time as ttc 4) and I started counting the new cycles after the last MC (I´m currently in cycle 2).

Harry2007 · 11/03/2010 09:17

Today's stats:

Keziah ttc#1, cycle18, CBFM cycle6, age 34, ucl 28-31, cd29
Cupc4kes ttc#2 cycle 8, CBFM cycle2, age 32 ucl 28, cd28
Harry ttc#2, cycle1, CBFM cycle3, age 28, ucl 29, cd26
Nanny01 ttc#5 cycle 3 UCL 28 age 37 CD24
Shaggy TTC#1, cycle 1, CBFM cycle 1, age 38, UCL29, CD17
BabyHoping ttc#4, CBFM cycle2, age 32, ucl 31-38, cd3
Boba82 TTC#1, cycle 11, CBFM cycle 1, age 27, UCL 35, CD3

Lychees - follow the above format:

ttc# - trying to conceive baby number ?
cycle - how many cylces have you been trying for
CBFM cycle - how many cycles have you been using the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor for
age - I'm not explaining this one!
UCL - usual cycle length (put a ? if you're not sure)
CD - cycle day you're currently on

Hope this helps!

JustShaggy · 11/03/2010 09:57

Harry - So glad you're feeling better. I was really worried ...

BabyHoping - I can understand why you would put TTC#4 because each mc results from a successful pregnancy. I guess that would make me TTC#3 - because I had two MC last year - but I think I'll stick with TTC#1. My understanding was that the TTC figure was for healthy children ..... ? Confusing.

I don't suppose it matters really, but do others count the way babyhoping does ... I ask because I've always been assuming that if someone put down TTC#2, it meant they had a child already ...

Babyhoping, how are you feeling about venturing into another pregnancy? I can't shut the fears out of my head. I feel like I've lost my innocence about pgs now.

Keziahhopes · 11/03/2010 14:18

Hi Shaggy - so sorry about Dec, I don't think it matters what cycle you put, it is what is right for you. And so sorry you had bad experience with dr's too - mine aren't nasty but don't "act" or even seem to know what to do. Like I had to say too high a prolactin level is a problem - and so on.

Keziah ttc#1, cycle18, CBFM cycle6, age 34, ucl 28-31, cd29
Cupc4kes ttc#2 cycle 8, CBFM cycle2, age 32 ucl 28, cd28
Harry ttc#2, cycle1, CBFM cycle3, age 28, ucl 29, cd26
Nanny01 ttc#5 cycle 3 UCL 28 age 37 CD24
Shaggy TTC#1, cycle 1, CBFM cycle 1, age 38, UCL29, CD17
BabyHoping ttc#4, CBFM cycle2, age 32, ucl 31-38, cd3
Boba82 TTC#1, cycle 11, CBFM cycle 1, age 27, UCL 35, CD3
essenceofSES TTC#2 ...

essenceofSES - if it was me and I had the monitor I would use it the next time your cycle starts again, just to collect data and info - it can't do any harm.
Nanny and Harry - I am day 29, but not testing for what feels like first time ever cos I know I haven't ovulated. Hope you both hold out (I am afraid I have weak will power and big bill for tests!!)

BabyHoping · 11/03/2010 14:23

Hi Shaggy, I agree with you, in that sense I should put TTC#1, has I have no children... It´s also true that I already tried to conceive 3 times and I was sucessful in the first part....

Regarding innocence, I totally feel the same as you... Getting pregnant does not feel as the first time, when I still thought that pregnancy equalled baby... Now everytime I get pregnant I get anxious from not knowing if it will end well. I´m staying positive cause I know that I really want a family and I´ll do what I have to do, even if it´s harder than for most people. Also, I did some exams and it turned out that I have 2 mutations for thrombophily and the doctor thinks at least 2 miscarriages were due to this. I also changed to an infertility doctor who gives me a lot of tranquility and who is medicating me with some drugs that are supposed to avoid the blood coagulation problem during pregnancy.

Lychees · 11/03/2010 19:40

Thanks for the welcome.

Sorry that some of you have had such difficult times. I hope that you turn a corner soon and positive things come your way.

My stats for the record are as follows:

TTC #2, Cycle 5, CBFM Cycle 1, Aged 36, UCL 30-35, CD5

essenceofSES · 11/03/2010 21:02

Thanks for welcoming me and adding me to the list

I actually really want AF to arrive so I can get started! I'm worried I could be waiting months...

I can relate to that loss of innocence too. Mc is so cruel. I know I'm v lucky to have DS and will always think of my 2 babies that could have been.

Keziahhopes · 11/03/2010 23:13

ok AF begun, which in some way is a relief as no peak on my monitor for the first time in using it, but still a blow - so will be cycle 19 and cd1 on Friday.

Lychees, I am nearing 35, know that age feeling... hope not too long for you.

Harry2007 · 12/03/2010 09:16

essenceofSES TTC#2 ...

Keziah sorry to hear af has arrived, but glad you're looking at it positively

I have the usual af crampy symptoms today, so I assume the arrival of af is imminent

...and how is everyone else today?

Keziahhopes · 12/03/2010 23:04

ok Harry - I am confused, thought AF had come, but nothing today, and am not pregnant!

Sorry sounds like AF for you Harry ... try and think about it as another chance coming up soon.

Keziah how odd! I've put you back at the top of the list until you know for definite. It seems like a strange cycle for you - keep us posted...

I just did a test - BFN . Silly really because I feel as though af is going to arrive soon in any case.

boba82 · 13/03/2010 13:08

Sorry Harry I'm exactly the same don't stop POAS until AF starts.

Keziah I think there are AF gremlins this month. My period seems to have disappeared now too after never really getting going. Still bloated like a whale and am really tired all the time.

Have POAS and am not pregnant. Anyone else suffered from anything like this?

yogamat · 13/03/2010 13:36

Hi ladies
sorry to highjack but can I ask you a question please? How many high days do you get before a peak?
I used it when trying for ds and got two then a peak then a bfp. All very easy and straightforward - wish it was that simple now!
Have had four high days - this is cd 16 for me.
Anyway if anyone can give me any info I'd really appreciate it.
What is the high day a measurement of?
Is the peak the day you ov or the surge before it?
Sorry sound really thick don't I?!

boba82 · 13/03/2010 15:53

Sorry yogamat this is my first cycle of CBFM so not reached a high day yet as only on CD5. Maybe look in instruction booklet or their website has FAQ and help/info on it www.clearblue.com.

Keziahhopes · 13/03/2010 18:01

hi yogamat - I have between 2-4 high's before a peak (well all apart from this bizarre cycle with 14high's and no peak's!) - great it worked so well with ds.

boba - agree gremlins!!

sorry Harry .

Medee · 13/03/2010 19:27

I've had several highs so far, but as it is my first month with it, it is probably just confused.

Keziahhopes · 13/03/2010 23:46

Lucybarnes - have not compared at all, but have found it very useful - for eg first 5 months using it my cycle was fairly similar but this last month I had no peak's, 3x the usual number of highs etc - which is good evidence to go to dr with, as already had a blood test that says my prolactin is too high and this means it can stop ovulation and just as this cycle started had another blood test that showed a much bigger rise in my prolactin. Not great news, but helpful to track and notice the difference.

oh and Harry - Sun will be day 2 (never been so relieved to have stomach pain before!!)

  • so can have my blood test for day 2 (well it will be 3 as nowhere open on Sun's and 7dpo this month after all!!)

Keziah fingers crossed this cycle is a positive one for you. So glad you know where you stand so that you can get those tests done x

Lucy it's my first cycle but am finding the CBFM invaluable for telling me exactly where I stand with my cycle, for example, it's indicated that I have a short luteal phase. I'm sure you'll find it helpful but would be very interested in finding out the results of your research

Yogamat it's my first cycle using the CBFM but I got my first high on cd8 and they continued until I got my first peak on cd20 - 13 high days!

Sorry to hear your in limbo with your af boba - there are definitely gremlins about
