Hello new thread.

NovemberAli · 26/11/2009 20:40

Good work pixie!
I got back from work to find my new temping thermometer has arrived - is it wrong to be this excited about taking my temperature?!

kkas · 26/11/2009 20:45

well done on new thread pixie so nice to have a shiny new one

hi aly your trip to the eastern medicine school really sounds interesting and i hope that their suggestions helps you get that BFP!

novemberali of course it's not wrong! i love doing my temp everyday. we can be temp buddies and cycle buddies this month too

aly323 · 26/11/2009 21:25

Impressive Pixie! Thanks for switching the thread.

Claire (and others), I'll keep you updated on my Eastern adventures. I too occasionally get some depression and anxiety. I actually went off the pill because I was concerned that it was causing me to have worse moods. I haven't used any medication regularly to treat my anxiety, but I would be thrilled to help it with the eastern stuff.

I have couple of friends who suffer from depression and anxiety who have children. Once, when I was extra stressed and dealing with anxiety issues, I commented that I was worried that having a child would make me a wreck. Oddly enough, they all agreed that having kids actually helped with their anxiety and depression. I was surprised, but relieved to hear this.

Novemberali, I agree with Kkas. It's absolutely fine to get excited about your thermometer. I, too, love taking my temperature and playing around on fertility friend. I have a feeling you'll like it, too!

claireinthecommunity · 26/11/2009 22:13

Aly, I've also had similar conversations with some friends of mine and they said the same as your friends! They also added that once a baby comes along you're so busy with this new little bundle, that you just get on with things and have a different set of priorities and worries.

I do think that my particular problems will always be with me but they will change and I will learn to deal with them differently.

Happy temping November

Muser · 26/11/2009 22:28

Hello new thread. I may not be joining the POAS club anymore. Signs of AF arriving. I'm sulking as I really don't want another week of rubbish discharge followed by a rubbish period. It just doesn't seem fair.

kkas · 27/11/2009 09:09

morning all - good friend had her baby yesterday and all is well. she is so cute and i can't wait to see her in RL. Really jealous though but still very happy for her!!!!

cramps have kicked in this morning but i am actually welcoming them because last month was the first month i had cramps with AF and it was actually the first month following pill that everything seems to be working noramlly! so here's to another 'normal' month

hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Morning all! I hope everything is going well for everyone.

Nothing major to report here, my life currently is revolving entirely around working, sleeping and eating! I'm hoping to get some energy back soon, but I get the feeling it's not going to happen for another month or so. Oh well... At least I can sleep over the Christmas period!

Is anyone testing over the coming weekend??

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 28/11/2009 00:49

Evening all,

Got slightly worried when I logged on for the first time since Wednesday and discovered that the thread had run out - I thought I'd lost you all!!

I'm heading towards the testing zone, have decided I can probably test on Sunday. I feeling hopeful this month as we BDed at pretty much the right time. I've been feeling random pains in my abdomen for the past week and my boobs are feeling heavy and quite tender (but that might just be all the prodding I'm doing to see if they hurt!). It's probably all psychosomatic, but there's enough to make me mildly optimistic.

I've been reading this thread which has made me alternately terrified and envious and, at times, had me weeping at the accounts of the sheer exhausted wonder that most new mums seem to feel. I have no idea how, or indeed if, I'll cope with being a mum, I just really want to try...

[Hmm] anyway, best not get too carried away, chances are this month will go the way of the previous 12

NovemberAli I too find temping satisfying. I'd been off the pill for 10 cycles before I got my thermometer, I am so much more aware of what's going on with my body now i'm doing the daily monitoring. And I like the charts and graphs, I makes me feel like I'm being proactive and taking TTC seriously!

kkas · 28/11/2009 10:00

Spirael, hope you get some you time soon

Yorkshire, great thread you linked to. Yes it conveys so many different emotions, you're right, one minute you're open mouthed the next all warm and glowing at the different accounts of early motherhood. I suppose what I got from it was: you don't know what your labour will be like and you don't know what your new baby will be like - you just need to get on with it, whatever! Which is both scary and exhilarating and it's something I'd really like to experience too

Kkas, thanks for updating the list (I'm CD1 today so will just update that). We've got a busy weekend ahead too, working tonight and out socially tomorrow night - Hope you have good one .

Hellooooo all! I was lost in cyberspace (that means clicked on 'threads I'm on' and finding nothing!) this week so i'm happy I've found you again!

Don't know if I'll be getting excited this month, temps were reasonable and we did the deed for 2 days (CD 9 &10) but on day 11 we had a falling out! So no sweet lurve until day 14 when my temp had already started to rise grrrr! Hopefully this cycle will be my usual length and not weirdly long like last time.

I hope everybody's well and not too cold/windy/flooded wherever you are.

Eleanora · 28/11/2009 17:02

Hi all,

May I join you? DH and I got married 6 months ago and after waiting for various work-related reasons have decided to start TTC this month. Very excited but also nervous - no idea how long it will take. My stats are:

TTC #1 Cycle 1 UCL 33(?) CD1

Calyx · 28/11/2009 17:20

Hello and welcome Eleanora, congratulations on getting wed and on deciding to TTC! You'll like it here, I've not been on this long but everyone's really nice and friendly and supportive. Good luck and fingers crossed for you! xx

Hiya everybody, thought I'd lost you all! Glad to see there's more graduates and I can't believe how big the the TTC list is getting now!

Well I've got just under 2wks till my 20wk scan and I can't believe it's passed so quick so far. Still worry all the time about something going wrong although I know that the biggest risk stage has already passed. Don't suppose you stop worrying once they're out either. Hope everyone's well, good luck to all on their 2WW!

WhiteRoses, I've been in a similar dilema. We've been TTC since last September and at the time I was in a job I loved and had been doing for a while. However, there was a reorganisation and our service was moved into another parent organisation in April, which mean my head office moved 100 miles away, so for that, and a few other reasons (the transfer was not an altogether happy one) I started looking for a new job and started my current job in August. From a legal point of view I'm ok, I've moved from one NHS organisation to another, so my maternity leave entitlement remains, but I would feel very bad about going off on mat leave after less than a year in the role.

When I started my new job I suggested to DH that we should stop TTC but DH came up with similar arguments to yours and also the fact that we've been at it for ages and nowts happened yet does make me think we could be a while yet. So I have decided to carry on TTC. I don't think you should plan your career on the possibility of conception, you don't know how long it will take. You organise your work around your family when you know that you are going to have a family.

Having said all that - I am slightly concerned that if my persistant abdominal pains do turn out to be an early pregnancy sign and not just long range PMT, then how do I tell my boss of 3 months that I'll be off for a year come the summer?

I think a compromise position might be take the promotion but maybe knock TTC back for the first couple of months of the new job, just so that you don't get pregnant immediately. There after get back to it and see what happens. You might be in the new job for a month or a year, you just can't predict when you are going to fall pregnant, so best not to make too many decisions on that basis.

However, my advice is skewed by the fact that I'm on cycle 13, so I naturally assume BFPs are a long time coming...

morning all

whiteroses sorry i don't really know what the right answer is either. i agree with yorkshire that if it really bothers you, perhaps give it a break for 2-3 months. that way there was no risk of falling pg straight away. but then again, i know how difficult it would be to take a break from TTC once you have made up your mind that you want a baby. i think if it were me, i would probs just take the promotion and carry on TTC. you never know when you're going to fall pg and it could take awhile anyway. plus i agree with your dh that you don't owe your company anything and they know there is always a risk you might be pg and they have likely factored that into their offer. just be honoured that they really value in despite that risk! anyway - lots to say for not knowing the answer! lol

yorkshire am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Trying4Baby1 hello it's nice to meet you! You'll need to come back on and tell us how your scan went please

WhiteRoses hmmmm long cycle or.... little bean about to stick?! Fingers crossed here for you. That would mean you didn't have to worry about whether to continue TTC or not Seriously though, I'm with your husband and Yorkshireteadrinker and kkas in thinking it's best to carry on TTC as it could be a few months anyway and if you did stop trying for a few months would you not be kicking yourself if it took ages after you'd held off for months... (does that make sense?! I know what I mean anyway!) Congratulations on the promotion though!

I was going to come on and ask about the 2WW and BD... this is probably a stoopid question... once your temps have risen after ov, do you halt everything until after the 2WW or continue to BD anyway? We are continuing this month but last month I stopped play as I didn't know whether it could 'dislodge' anything (I feel so silly saying it!) But DH got a JOB this weekend (full time! 40 hours a week over 4 days - he's a chef - so still get to see him 3 days a week! And he loves the restaurant, honest scottish cooking and only 50 seats in the restaurant...so no grumping for hours and hours after he gets home at midnight about how terribly busy it was (last place he worked had 200 seats in the restaurant). I'm sooooo happy!) and I wasn't going to put him off when he's in such a good mood. What do you girls do after your temp rises? Sorry if that is a daft question!

Muser awwwww bum about AF arriving, agree with Whiteroses it will be nice to have a wee glass of wine/champers/voddy or whatever over christmastime if you like a tipple though? A whole new cycle awaits (I say that to myself a lot, for some reason it helps a tiny bit!)

I'm off to get tidied up, my sis is coming over with my gorgeous niece. Hope everyone's weekend is going well xx
