!!! at "a quick update from me" I wrote essays on here. Sorry to bore you ladies

MrsHappy · 07/07/2009 20:25

LOL at GG, Bucky and their donor! I did wonder whether you two might bump into each other but figured it was pretty unlikely. Just shows what I know!

GG well done for getting through nasty egg collection again and yay for Mr GG's steady hand and his man bag! My job is a permanent contract - when I was interviewing I just looked a little fat and there really is no reason to 'fess up at interview. I was lucky I got in when I did though because only a few weeks later and I am the size of a house. I'm 24 weeks now, so courgette is legally viable, which is just fab.

Are you packed and ready to go MOB?

I hope the hot flushes are calming down, PnM Caitni now will you please stop peeing on sticks? I just don't want you to have a panic if one is defective and doesn't give you the results you want. Anyway once you have your scan maybe you will believe that there is a bun in your oven!! Having said that I have a drawer-full of used pee sticks which I used to look at until I could feel courgette wriggling!

Bucky hope dildocam was fine and that it is full steam ahead for you and MrB.

Not a massive amount going on here. I am the size of a house which is I guess because this is number 2 and my stomach muscles have waved a white flag. Her movements are already visible from the outside which seems pretty early to me. I suspect that having made me worry about courgette's size and cone head I am soon going to be told that she is giant. She certainly feels pretty hefty when I am running for the bus...

JollyBear · 07/07/2009 20:26

Hurray for the eggs GG! My fingers well crossed for eggcellent multiplication. How funny you bumping into bucky. Hope you have lots of books ready for sitting on the sofa and having a good rest this week.

bucky How was your trip? Did you sing "the hills are alive..." lots? How did the scan go?

MOB I'm so excited for you. MOB is going to hatch her chicks v soon .

ei Any news from you AF wise? When are you seeing the consultant? I was wondering how your meeting with mibbes went. Does she still lurk? HELLO, if you do!

Hello to everyone else. Must dash, ironing to do

JollyBear · 07/07/2009 20:30

Hello MrsH, cross posted. Glad to hear the courgette is wiggling wonderfully. Is it horribly gross to admit I found a couple of pee on sticks the other day from testing with DD ? Oh the shame. I just liked to look at them as mrsH said . I've thrown them out now you'll all be pleased to know!

Caitni · 07/07/2009 21:27

Evening ladies

GG yay for 10 eggs! That is wonderful (and well done on your DH for his aim ). It's another hurdle you've crossed . Hope they're hitting it off in the lab as I type . Fingers crossed for the call tomorrow - it's nerve wracking. I actually called mine first, as they said they'd call around 10am and at 10.03am I was like "hello? When are you calling?" . And get you with your Britain's Got Talent run-ins! I didn't even notice that it was X Factor (I've watched neither ).

Cool that you bumped into Bucky too . Small world! Bucky hope your scan went well.

MrsH great news about courgette being so lively already - it must be utterly amazing to see movement from the outside . Great news that you're on a permanent contract btw - clever you! And I've no intention of peeing on any other sticks ...in my defense I actually only bought three tests (a single and double pack), and only did two of those to see the conception indicator rise. I did two other tests that were lying around in a drawer and that's it - over two weeks I think it's pretty restrained (especially when I remember the million tests I did last Sept to watch a faint line stay faint ).

MOB am glad it's cooled down for you (although I've rolled out my wardrobe for summer 2009 and am not too amused!). It's amazing to think that you'll have met your babies by Friday . My younger sister is now a week and a bit overdue and is booked for an induction on Thurs so there's going to be lots of newborn news for me this week

JB lol at you finding some old pee sticks from your DD . I do have one in my bedside drawer (the only one that was a line - ruddy digital ones disappear after 24 hours!) and do like to look at it sometimes still. The line is just so thick, I find it very reassuring (although I'd be mortified if anyone spotted it in RL - I did pee on it after all!).

PnM hope you're enjoying your hols

Ei hope you've got your questions ready for the consultant on Thurs

RFN2&3 hope you're enjoying the cooler weather too!

Not much new with me. Still comedy tired of an evening but, bar the odd retch, I've not had any MS or nausea. On the way into the office today I bumped into the lovely HR consultant who gave me the advice on taking time off for IVF and it was lovely when she was like "hope you don't mind me asking but...?" and she was so excited! And lovely, by reminding me that there's no need to say anything "official" until after 12 weeks. I'm 6 weeks today and still at that stage where every day feels like a minor triumph. Roll on next Tuesday as I need to see this bean to believe it's actually full steam ahead!

BuckyAndCocktails · 07/07/2009 23:08

Hey, yes, it was pretty funny seeing GG, I was chuckling as I left that we were either lesbos with a donor or one of us was a surrogate...hee hee. . Poor Mr Gin, coming out for a quite major life moment and he has Bucky cackling like a banshee at the wankypornroom and dildocam. .

MrsH Courgette is growing so big! 24 weeks already? Where does the time go?

MOB I'm ashamed to ask, when are the chicklets coming? Something makes me think its next week...15th? Let me know so I can diarise it. Thinking of you though, very exciting. x

Lots of love to everyone. Time to go to bed and as DP just said, do the 'handdance' LOL. He has a date with the wankyporn room on Friday morning and AF is here!! .

Oh, dildocam was the same old same old...all was fine. Night night. Sleep tight. x

OP posts:
BuckyAndCocktails · 07/07/2009 23:10

um not that anyone cares, but AF turned up after the dildocam episode. Thank goodness...I was totally freaked out that it would be the three of us, Me, the dildocam operator and AF .

GorgonsGin · 08/07/2009 10:11

hello all

The embryologist called this morning and 5 out of the 10 eggs have fertalised (other 5 didn't get close ) The eggs were all mature and good quality and they "managed to capture a few motile sperm" . That's about the same fertalisation rate as cycle #1, when 6 out of 11 fertalised normally. That's not a terrific rate, and that's also was why I was so concerned about getting as many eggs as possible. DH's sperm is not up to much apparently!!!

Now it's all a waiting game . They need 3 x good quality embryos tomorrow, to go forward to blastocyst stage. Please keep your fingers crossed for the 5 developing away in the petri dish . The embryologist will call me again tomorrow morning for another update and to see how they did over night. I'll be called in on Friday for transfer if they look to be slowing, otherwise it will be Sunday for blastocyst transfer.

Oh god, another me me me post Hope you are all well. I'll check in later.

GGx

GorgonsGin · 08/07/2009 10:16

god, my spelling is awful too

Caitni · 08/07/2009 10:47

GG well done on 5 embryos! This is a nerve wracking time and and anxiety is normal, but I just wanted to remind you that we only had 4 fertilise normally (the 5th fertilised abnormally). 5 is a good result at this stage . Not sure what you think of it but we actually named our four - after the Marx Brothers - and it helped me with trying to feel positive. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the famous five keep on growing well . Have you arranged any acupuncture for transfer day? Hope you're not feeling too tender after yesterday and hope you have a nice comfy sofa to relax on.

Bucky glad to hear the date with the dildocam went well

GorgonsGin · 08/07/2009 11:03

Caitni - thanks for posting! How are you doing today? I am such a nervous wreck I'm still a little tender Down There, but basically right as rain - bleeding has stopped and no sharp pains. I'm meeting a friend for lunch today (she knows nothing) to keep my mind off everything and trying to keep busy as possible! I haven't booked accupuncture yet because of the lack of certainty about transfer dates, but will speak to accupuncturist today to tee him up. I think it's our 50% fertilisation rate which got - 4 out of 5 was fantastic for you guys! The five that didn't fertalise didn't catch at all - not even abnormally. DH is also a bundle of nerves.

I love the idea of naming the embryos . The Famous Five it is then - Julian, Dick, George, Anne and Timmy

GorgonsGin · 08/07/2009 11:06

or perhaps, to be more topical, the embroys can be names after another famous five:

Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, Michael and
Tito

Madoldbird · 08/07/2009 11:56

GG I couldn't wait to get back from my midwife appt to find out the news!! So pleased to hear that you have 5 embryos - i am sending loads and loads of positive vibes to them, and pray that they all continue to divide and do their thing. I completely appreciate your anxiety - i remember what i was like, but just keep positive. Remember we are all hear rooting for you and the famous five Let us know what the embryologist says tomorrow. XX

Good morning to everyone else!!!

Madoldbird · 08/07/2009 11:58

here

Not sure that it is the correct spelling of "rooting" in this instance either?!

Caitni · 08/07/2009 12:20

GG that's great that you're feeling so well physically (all the swimming and relaxing have paid off ) and excellent call on lunch - it'll help the time to pass which is A Good Thing . I'm liking the famous five names - five have high jinks in Hammersmith - although perhaps they'll be dancing away a la the Jacksons . Whether they're dancing or having a spam picnic with lashings of ginger beer they'll be raring to go by the time you get to ET .

The acupuncturist should be flexible about ET day as they know the drill with switching from day two to day three to day five transfers. I got a bit stressed out with the one I used as I was expecting him to give me definite time slots (when I was expecting a day 3 transfer with the possibility of a day 5 one) and he had to explain that if it's on a weekday he'll just cancel patients to fit around the ET (moi? a control freak? ).

Waves to MOB hope the midwife app went well and that she's happy with everything. Have you got a list of things to do before the babas arrive? Or are you just trying to get lots of rest?

Oooh tis an exciting few days on here with GG famous five and MOBs chicks arriving

GorgonsGin · 08/07/2009 17:48

MOB - how did your midwife appointment go? Was she happy with everything and leaving you to it until your C section date? I know you have been through this waiting game too - it's bloody awful, isn't it?!

Caitni - thanks for the reassurance about the accupuncture appointments. Sunday transfer, if we get that far, is a little anti-social but great to hear about the flexibility.

I had a lovely afternoon eating caramel ice cream cones on Clapham Common with my friend and I honestly managed to forget about the Famous Five for a while. 'Twas lovely but my clutching at straws continues - patron saint of conception is St Gerard. He might be my new best friend

Madoldbird · 08/07/2009 18:12

GG Shouldn't you have been having "lashings of ginger beer" . Oh, and finding a mystery to investigate! Glad you had a lovely afternoon. Midwife was happy with everything - happy to leave things 'till friday, thank goodness!

Caitni 6 weeks now! Roll on that scan. Yes - i have a list of things to do before the babies arrive, but i seem to spend most of my time resting now!! Nevermind, we have everything ready for the babies, so everything else can wait.

Bucky LMAO at you and GG at the hospital! At least it appears that you didn't put poor MrGG off too much Oh, and the babies are arriving this Friday... eek!!

MrsH It's lovely to get to 24 weeks, isn't it? It feels like a real milestone. Certainly sounds like courgette is growing well! And i think you should not be running for the bus any longer

EI Hope the appt goes well tomorrow - will be thinking of you.

Big hello to anyone not mentioned

GorgonsGin · 08/07/2009 19:40

MOB - Jenson and Lewis will be here THIS FRIDAY???!! Just where have the last few months disappeared to?! Bleedin' hell, I really have been wishing my life away for a BFP

I'd better get knitting those matinee jackets, like a good cyber auntie .

Madoldbird · 09/07/2009 13:05

Hi Ladies

Just a quick one from me.

GG Hope you have been knitting all night Any news from the embryologist?

Well, we're on countdown now - this time tomorrow Lewis & Jenson will be here Feels totally unreal at the moment, i think reality will hit when i get to the hospital tomorrow. I will do my best to log on from my mobile tomorrow. As the thread is not too long, i should be able to. Will also put a message on FB, so will get word to you one way or another! (Unfortunately our hospital does not have those bedside thingys with tv, internet, etc)

Caitni · 09/07/2009 16:12

Afternoon ladies

Just a flying visit as am going to bunk off early as my friend arrived this afternoon (and had a nice looooong lunch with her) so am off tomorrow and won't be internetting much til Sat afternoon.

GG Hoping the fabulous five are getting on famously . Are you gearing up for ET tomorrow or Sunday? ET was the best bit of the whole thing for me - made all the crazy drugs worth it! Am thinking of you and your little crowd of embies

MOB glad to hear that rest is taking precedence! Think of it as your most important thing to do . And wow that this time tomorrow the twins will be here. So wonderful [caitni throws MOB some cyber booties ]. My sister had a little girl today - name not confirmed yet - so am all happy and emotional about the new little people entering the world this week

Ei thinking of you and hoping you have a good app with the consultant

Things fine with me but am so worried about the scan on Tuesday. I love MN but the downside is that I know far too much about missed miscarriage, which I'm totally anxious about (having horrible dreams that there's nothing there ), although I know (rationally) that things should hopefully be fine. Guess I won't relax til I see the heartbeat(s) on Tues! Glad I've got my best friend visiting so I can keep distracted

Waves to everyone else - must head off and actually do some work after mysteriously disappearing for about 3.5 hours in the middle of the day

GorgonsGin · 09/07/2009 18:42

hello all,

Caitni - I was at the accupuncturist this afternoon - your recommendation. Thank you! He is managing to calm me down a little and he's just so nice . As The Queen Of Worry at the moment, I am probably a poor example and someone who doesn't practice what she preaches, but please, please try not to worry about m/c. You have the evidence of a very strong BFP (actually, several very strong BFP's I think ) and while it is a horrible wait until you see more evidence of pregancy from the scan, you and bean will be absolutely fine, I am sure Best friends are a great distraction and you will have a ball with her. Have a lovely weekend!

MOB - wishing you lots of luck and happiness for tomorrow and the arrival of your beautiful boys. I absolutely can't wait to see some photos of you with Jensen and Lewis, although whatever lovely names you choose for them, I'll think of them your little F1 winners . You have been such a positive influence on us ladies on this thread and I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all your wise words and support as your dreams come true on 10th July. Now there's a date you won't be able to forget in a hurry! Have you packed the little rugby strips you bought?

Hello to mrsH Bucky Picknmix ei and all the others . Any news with your guys? I hope you are having a wonderful anniversary break in devon and Cornwall, Picknmix! ei - didn't you have your consultant's appointment today or am I jsut bewildered and daft on the dates? Come and let us know what he said.

Well, the embryologist called this morning and as of 8.30am, Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, Michael and Tito are still dividing and looking good - three strongly, two averagely, but all described as "good". She will call back first thing tomorrow with another progress update and we'll decide whether I go in tomorrow for Day 3 transfer or on Sunday at Day 5 blastocyst stage (you can't touch them on Day 4 because they are doing super-duper complex biological things that day which I'm far too stupid to understand). I am on absolute tenterhooks here and attempting distraction techniques like updating photo albums (Stepford Wife), clearing out my knicker drawer (needed!) and putting the tins in my cupboard in alphabetical order (joke!). Ha, I thought not working would keep my stress levels nice and low, but I'm better at work with meaningful distractions instead of imagining spontaneous arresting of embryos As Caitni said, Mumsnet makes you too knowledgable!

Ggx

JollyBear · 09/07/2009 21:09

Splendid news on the famous five GG . I'm away from tomorrow so won't be able to pop in till Monday. My phone is not able to do clever things like post on the internet! So wishing you lots of love and luck with the ET.

MOB Have a lovely last twin free evening! I can't wait to hear all about their arrival. It has come round so quickly.

caitni How wonderful to be real life Auntie, congratulations. Try not to fret too much, remember that the vast majority of pregnancies go really well with no complications.

Haven't packed a thing yet so best go.... can't wait to hear all the news when I get back!!

MrsHappy · 09/07/2009 21:33

Just a quick one because I am having a bit of a crappy time and need my bed.

MOB heaps of luck for tomorrow. You'll be fine. Just remember to drink plenty of water afterwards, get up (slowly!) as soon as you feel ready and stay on top of your pain meds. And give the boys a kiss each from their cyber aunties.

GG hurrah for the Famous Five (prefer that name as I would not want them to be as weird as the Jacksons...). Hope they keep splitting like billy-o!

Caitni do not worry about your scan. Some things are just meant to be and I reckon your pregnancy is one of those things.

Higs to everyone else. Right, off to my pit!

PicknMix · 09/07/2009 22:22

Hello!

Found a brief spot of reception so am posting quickly lest it disappears (the reception)...

Wanted to wish mob the best of luck tomorrow - am really excited that you're finally going to meet ur beautiful boys and I totally echo gg's sentiments re all your help and support for us all. Can't wait to see pictures and wish you the speediest of cs recoveries xx

Am also thinking of you too gg - am so pleased to hear the famous five are doing their thang properly so will check in tomorrow to see what the outcome is.

Love to you all, apologies for no other personal mentions, will catch up properly when I'm home on Sat. I'm off for a dip in the jacuzzi before bed now!

Xx

GorgonsGin · 10/07/2009 08:33

Hi there - very quick one from me.

MOB - it's your big day at last. Lots of love and luck to you and the twins

I am going in for transfer today! 2 very good embryos, two average, one small but still struggling on. The embryologist felt that with only two very good ones, we shouldn't go to blastocyst, so I am heading off to Hammersmith now for transfer this morning. Looks like no frosties this time, but hopefully this time it will work. Fingers crossed.
