Bonjour ladies
Am on my way out of the door with DD but just wanted to get this on my 'threads I'm on' list.
Love love love this four day working week thing!

Ei, please do a test. Aren't you supposed to have aspirin/heparin from when you get pg, and if so, don't you need to know one way or t'other?

ButterflEi · 03/07/2009 09:19

xx ei xx

GorgonsGin · 03/07/2009 09:37

hello all,

MOB - I think that we do have the same relaxation pregnancy CD. It does have a horseshoe on the front and a very Lancashire sounding lady intoning, dare I say it, hypnotically, about baaaybeees! Not long to go now - have you lost any more plug? If you don't post here today, we'll assume you are otherwise occupied and very close to meeting Lewis and Jensen I hope the weather isn't getting you down too much and I love Readyfor2&3's cooling tips.

Jollybear - ha ha, love the washing up bowl idea . Very Blue Peter resourceful and much cheaper than a paddling pool! I can just see your DD sitting there splashing around in her sun hat. I completely agree with you about sunburn worries for delicate baby skin and shade, sunhats etc. I am 34 and a very pale skinned Celt. Hell, I didn't see sunshine until 23, when I moved to England! I burn in seconds at the moment, so can only imagine how careful you have to be with your DD's baby skin in this heat. DH's best friend came back from visiting a friend of his (an acquaintance of ours) who now lives in Abu Dhabi with his very fair, blonde haired, blue eyed two year old DD. DH's friend, who is a single, lad about town type who doesn't notice anything 'cept beer 'n'birds, said he was shocked to see she had a deep, deep sun tan and burns . Her parents just let her run around the garden or beach with no or minimal protection. Makes me shudder!

butterflEi - I am LOVING the new name . In fact, I insist that you never change it again, because it is so good I can't believe that you haven't POAS yet, you restrained woman! Come back and tell us when you do succumb to temptation. Fingers crossed that your AF has stayed away (premanently, or at least until you have another baby )

Bucky - happy holidays to you in Austria! Are you enjoying the break and the weather is good. 'Tis dreary and grey again in London today, so I think the heatwave is over here.

caitni - Grrr, yes, it's a pain I have to refrigerate the stimming drugs. What did you use? I'm on Gonal F, so it's fridges all the way amd I may also be taking the trigger shot on Saturday which needs cooled! What a palaver it all is , but worth it . How are you feeling today? I had heard that bleeding gums could be a symptom, but hope it has eased off now for you and you've acquired a suitable over the shoulder boulder holder to encase your poor (.)(.) (ha, I haven't used that symbol for ages ). I'm so excited to find out if it's one or two. Have you allowed yourself to be excited yet or are you holding back for now? I know what you mean about the Karen Carpenter connotations of laxitives . I remember trying to buy them once (for a very legitimate need ) and the phramacist refused, simply on the basis I was a young woman whom he suspected of annorexia. Maybe some Fybogel or something like that would be ok in pregnancy? Hope it eases soon

readyfor2and3 - 7 weeks to go fot you . Where has the time gone?! So excited for you. Big happy birthday to your DS! Hope he enjoyed his day and has got over the number 3 obsession.

MrsH - big wave to you! How are you doing at work. I hope it has calmed down for you and you are enjoying it and not suffering the ill effects of a commute in the heat.

Hello to anyone else, or anyone missed.

Now for the me, me, me, me, me update. I had my Day 9 scan this morning and there are about 7 ripe eggs, so not such a great haul this time I suppose it is ok though? (someone please tell me it is ok, to cheer me up ) Funnily enough, I am more anxious this time round that last IVF cycle -not sure why . I am certainly not work stressed , but maybe it's because I'm not working I have more time to dwell or know what could go wrong. It also feels like there is more riding on this cycle. Unfortunately, we're having family ishoooos with my feckless father, which is pushing my blood pressure sky high . He's an alcoholic and has another melt down and my sisters are having to sort out the mess (I'm too far away), but it's all raaaaather stressful and, because it's my dad, quite difficult to ignore. I'll have to get that relaxation CD out again!

It looks like egg collection will be Monday or Tuesday. I'll find out this afternoon when the clinic calls, but prob won't have internet access until Sunday to let you know (assuming you are interested ). If it's on Monday, I'll need to have a very restrained hen weekend indeed in Cardiff! Not only no drinking, but relaxing early nights too. I'm usually known for being a last-one-standing-party-animal, so I think everyone will be rubbing their eyes in disbelief when I go back to my room at 10pm with a good book and cup of decaffeinated tea My room-mate doesn't know about the IVF, but I'm comfortable telling her - she's my old flatmate and very calm and, once I explain, I'm sure she won't freak that I'll be using drugs, needles and swabs in her hotel room I've also bought a teeny, tiny cool bag and ice packs for the train journey for keeping the drugs cool.

Have a lovely weekend ladies and please excuse my mammoth post! I'm off to fit in some reflexology today before my train to see if I can stim my ovaries any more,

GGx

GorgonsGin · 03/07/2009 09:45

ei - sorry, I crossed posts with you. I am that it was a BFN for you.

Madoldbird · 03/07/2009 10:00

Bucky Thank you for the lovely new thread! (and for starting it while you are on your hols!) Hope those hills are alive with the sound of music and cocktails.

EI I'm so sorry that it was a BFN for you this morning. No wonder you are not happy. Not sure about the spotting, but definitely mention it all to the consultant next week. Hopefully they will start getting a bit more pro-active in getting you pregnant. Take it easy today.

GG Don't worry - i'm still here! Losing little bits & pieces of the plug but Lewis & Jenson still in situ. The CD definitely made me chuckle the first couple of times i heard it - not very conducive to relaxation! maybe persevere with it to get past the giggling stage!! 7 eggs sounds absolutely fine, it's a bit of a cliche, but it is quality not quantity. Don't forget you may well end up with more on the day as well ( i did) as they can't always see them all in the scan. Not a good time to have all that family stress - try to distance yourself as much as you are able. Hopefully the weekend away will help you do that, and it's great you will be able to tell your friend, rather than sneaking around to have your fix Look forward to hearing when your EC is. Have a wonderful weekend.

MrsH Are you doing a 4 day week every week? If so, that's great, and a nice balance.

Well i am going to be a bundle of nerves later on, along with most of the rest of the country - COME ON MURRAY

GorgonsGin · 03/07/2009 10:07

mob - argggh, I want to watch the MURRAY MATCH! I am going to be on the bleedin' train to Cardiff when he's playing. I have dug out an ancient mini radio and headphones I used to use for going running in the days before iPods, but I'll be leaping out of my seat and shouting and ooooh-ing like a mad woman if it gets exciting. Not sure my heart can take another five set thriller after last Monday. Glad that Lewis and Jensen are staying put for now.

COME ON ANDY!!!!!!

GorgonsGin · 03/07/2009 10:09

I mean "JenSON"

Caitni · 03/07/2009 10:24

Just a quick note for GG about eggs - I only got 5 eggs suitable for fertilisation, of which only 4 fertilised normally. Hence our amazement that we could get to blast (4 embryos doing well on day 3 is the Lister's minimum for trying for blast). 7 ripe follicles is very good - MOB's right - the mantra is "quality not quantity"! 7

Will be back later for a proper catch up .

GorgonsGin · 03/07/2009 10:32

thanks loads Caitni . Maybe I'm just in a negative frame of mind (bl**dy fathers!) I had 14 folicles last time and 11 eggs recovered, so I was a bit stunned at "only" 7 ripe folicles (and 2/3 unripe). I know it should absolutely fine and 7 is good. I think it was only because I was convinced most things would be the same as last time I was surprised, IYKWIM

Must dash off and pack. Have a lovely weekend

GGx

Caitni · 03/07/2009 10:36

Those 2/3 unripe may still ripen up and as MOB says it's reasonably common for them to get more eggs than expected at egg collection as those U/S scans aren't foolproof. Have fun in Cardiff! A relaxing weekend is the best way to get ready for egg collection

MrsHappy · 03/07/2009 15:05

Hello ladies

Ei I'm sorry it was a CFN (crappy fat negative). Definitely mention this to your consultant. When I had something similar (spotting, delayed periods, temp bouncing around above the cover line) my doctor thought it was probably an ovarian cyst which happens from time to time. If that's what it is it's no big deal but very very annoying. There's nothing like ttc for messing up your cycle, hey?

Caitni am I to gather from GG's email that you are feeling a bit, ahem, bunged up? Maybe ask your chemist for something that works as a stool softener rather than a laxative, as that should help but be a bit less severe. Or just scoff lots of dried apricots which should do the trick. FWIW your guts slowing down is a classic early pregnancy symptom and so, I think, a good sign.

GG Don't worry about having less eggs at all. I'm sure I read somewhere that some doctors now think it is better to stim less and get a few really great eggs than to get loads and loads, of which maybe half fertilise if you are lucky, and Caitni's experience seems to bear this out. They'll be cracking eggs, I am sure (sorry, couldn't help that one).

MOB how exciting that you are losing bits of your plug. Do you have to sprint to the hospital if it all kicks off? When I had my DD my plug came out when I was in labour and I was so strapped sown in wires that I couldn't see what it was so I had DH have a look. I've never forgotten the look on his face when he told me "I think a jellyfish sneezed in there" . Poor chap.

bucky I hope the hotel is nice and you are having a lovely time.

Not much to report from here. DD is being very sweet and yes, my new job is Mon-Thurs only which is a much better balance. I basically took the job to have a bit of a lifestyle change and to try something new. Things are still hectic (that steep learning curve, plus they are v busy) but everyone is very helpful and I am sure I will be up to speed before long. This heat is starting to drive us mad; DD has turned into a Spanish child and has a siesta at lunchtime but then won't go to sleep until 10 at night. I thought it was supposed to rain today but clearly North London is exempt. Right, must go - DD snd I are playing a game which seems to involve putting cushions on my head and cackling wildly...

PicknMix · 04/07/2009 00:35

Evening everyone,

Very quick message to apologise for lack of posts (been working away all week, ridiculously busy). Tis dh and my wedding anniversary today - 5yrs, doesn't seem that long tho! We're off on holiday tomorrow (surfing in North Devon then on to a cottage in Cornwall) but I'm thinking of you all and will try and catch up properly soon!

Sorry to hear about the bfn Ei although i'm loving the new name.

Am thinking eggy thoughts for you gg - have a lovely weekend away.

Hope the heat isn't getting to all you pregnant ladies too much? Will def be popping on to check up on you mob!

Hope you're enjoying your holiday bucky?

Love to you all - sorry for such a short post. Am also on mobile so apolo for bad typing!

Still suffering from silly hot flushes - i now know what my poor mum went through when she hit the menopause!

Xx

GorgonsGin · 06/07/2009 10:01

Morning all. I'm just checking in quickly to say hello to everyone and say that my egg collection is scheduled for 11am tomorrow. I did the final injection at 1am this morning. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I had a wonderful hen weekend. Great fun and absolutely hilarious, because we were in the same hotel as all the contestants from the X Factor. Saw all of Diversity and the grandad from Two Grand (or whatever they're called) and I sat next to Susan Boyle at breakfast She was very nice and chatty and not fat at all! Also I had some fun Trainspotting stylee moments of having to shoot up me drugs in the public loo. In the end (long story) I had to store the drugs in the main hotel fridge and get up at 7am, dash to the kitchens to get them and then use them in the ladies. Just call me Renton

Hope you are all ok. Sorry for the me me me post. Will check in later and see how you are all doing.

picknmix - have a wonderful anniversary in Cornwall. I am so jealous of your break.

Caitni - hope you have got something to take away the -ahem - blockage

MOB - any sign of the boys yet?! I had a very funny moment on the hen weekend - we had had to wear badges with our names/nicknames on them. The bride had one with "Bride" on her badge, the bridesmaid had "Bridesmaid" etc etc and this one lady had "M.O.B" on hers and I said, completely without thinking (I blame the drugs! ) "Why are you called Mad Old Bird?" and she said, quite offendedly, "It stands for Mother Of the Bride!"

Big hello to MrsH ready Bucky Ei and everyone else missed

GGx

Caitni · 06/07/2009 12:04

Hi ladies

MrsH four days a week sounds very civilised, and glad you're coping with the learning curve! I've turned to prune juice - icky but very effective - so am back on comfortable terms with my digestive tract

GG I was LMAO at your comment to the mother of the bride . Hilarious! Glad you had such a good weekend and woo hoo for EC tomorrow! I hope it goes swimmingly and you get top notch eggs . I can't believe how fast this treatment has been going - will be thinking of you tomorrow

Ei so sorry about the negative result . And how frustrating that your body is acting up...you have your consultant's appointment this weekend don't you? Hope you have your list of questions ready and they can shed some light on things.

PnM congrats on the anniversary! And I'm well at your holiday - how lovely! Hope you have a lovely, relaxing time and can't wait to hear about it when you get back.

Bucky hope you're still having fun in Austria!

MOB any more news from you? Was thinking about you over the weekend - wonder if the boys are here yet? Very exciting altogether.

Waves to RFN2&3 - can't believe you have so little time left as well . Hope you're not suffering too much in the heat (though it's cooled down a bit in London at least).

Waves to JB

Had a very busy weekend and now feel quite knackered. Have been waking up comedy early - yesterday morning I couldn't sleep so snuck off and did my last conception indicator test at about 5.30am and it had gone up to 3+ weeks so was happy (and relieved!). I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and I've got my first scan next Tuesday. I've got Friday off this week, and a very busy week, so am hoping time will fly until then!

Madoldbird · 07/07/2009 06:40

Just a quickie, then i'll be back later...

GG GOOD LUCK for EC today - i'll be thinking of you. Lots of eggstra eggquisitely eggy vibes for you!!!!

BuckyAndCocktails · 07/07/2009 07:06

OK, crap as usual I have only scanned.

Just wanted to say hi, that I am back from Austria and my hen weekend in Amsterdam and am on my way to my scan at Hammersmith this morning.

GG, I am there at 10am so may bump into you .

Will have a proper read later and do some shout outs. Sorry I was so brief when I started the thread, I had paid for thirty minutes on the hotel computer and has precisely 3 minutes left when I decided to start the new thread .

I have very little phone coverage here so, at the risk of sounding like Ei and MrsH, just a quick message to say best of luck with the egg collection GG and hope the scan goes well Bucky

GG Hope it went really well today, and that you are tucked up at home now. LOL at your comment to the mother of the bride at the weekend!!

MrsH Love that comment from your DH about a jellyfish sneeze! Nothing so dramatic here - more like a jellyfish with a bit of a snotty nose Yes - if anything does happen in the next couple of days it is a mad dash to the hospital, although fingers crossed that they can stay put unitl friday now.

PnM Hope you are having a wonderful holiday, and that the weather is a little better that it is here!

Bucky No need to apologise for the short post when you started the post - i was mightily impressed that you had taken the time to do it while you were away. Hope the scan went well today.

Caitni Only a week to go until your scan! I hope the next few days fly past for you.

EI How are things with you?

No major news here... still losing bits of plug but nothing dramatic. Am so glad it's cooler and rainy - i have much more energy!

GorgonsGin · 07/07/2009 19:51

Just a quick update from me, because my broadband connection is playing up. They got 10 eggs today and DH performed like a trooper and didn't spill a drop (apparently!) That's one egg less than last time, but I am really pleased with that number. Phew! Thanks Caitni for being so positive with me last week and keeping me bouyed up. We find out tomorrow morning from the embryologist what's happening, so please keep your fingers crossed for me ladies. I was the last on today's list so they discharged me pretty quickly because I was the last one there. I thought I was fine to go, until the taxi got to within a mile of home when I suddenly thought I was going to faint - then I barfed lavishly into DH's man-bag after he hastily emptied it. I never was any good with anaethetic I'm still feeling a little sore down there, but I hope that wears off soon although DH knows that a night of passion is out of the window for a wee while

Comedy appointment coincidence Bucky! I saw Mrs B. Cocktails at the hospital . It was hysterical because Bucky, me and my DH ended up chatting in the waiting room for a few minutes after her appointment and before mine. Everyone else was sitting there in boy/girl couples, waiting to go in for egg collection. I could see people looking at us puzzlingly, wondering why on earth we were there as a laughing threesome (it's not exactly somewhere you bring a friend!). DH is convinced that everyone in the waiting room thought that Bucky and I were a lesbian couple, and he was tagging along as the random sperm donor (although he wouldn't be much use in that role with his swimmers on zimmers )

Bucky - it's been simply aaaaages since we caught up How funny to see you today at the hospital!! Hope your scan with dildocam went well and that Amserdam and Austria were fun. Also I hope your first day back in the office after your holidays wasn't too traumatic. How is the janitor obsession?

MOB - any news with you or any sign of the terrible F1 two arriving? I am sooo excited for you I can hardly sit still. As Bucky said, we can't wait to be cyber aunties again. At least the weather is not so hot now for you and the other pg ladies. Did you dodge the thunder storms?

picknmix - are you still suffering from the hot flushes from the Clomid? They are horrid. I hope you are having a wonderful time in North Devon and Cornwall and you had a lovely time celebrating your anniversary with your DH. July is a gorgeous time of year to get married and celebrate anniversaries. Do you think the drugs are having any effect on your cycles or just your internal temp? I can't wait to hear all about your trip. I'm not sure where you are in your cycle, but a lovely relaxing holiday might be just thing for striking it lucky with a BFP

ei - I meant to ask; did you meet up with mibbes and meet the miblet while you were in Stirling? Are you in London soon or am I imagining it? Sorry again for the BFN. Is there any sign yet of your AF? I hope this list of questions for the doctor is coming along nicely.

MrsH - how many weeks are you now? Also, can I ask a personal question about your work?: are you on a temp contract or permanent that will recommence after your maternity leave? I have been giving some thought to my unemployment situation and what will happen if I do get a BFP this time. My employability will go from its current position of; "not-very-high" to "wouldn't-touch-her-with-a-shitty-stick"! LOL too at "a jellyfish sneezed in there"

Caitni - I hope you are feeling sprightly. Hav eyou got any more symptoms yet? I am also at your re-testing. If it ever happens to me, I am sure I'll be the same - utter disbelief! Not long now until your scan.

readyfor2and3 and jolly - big hello to you both

Take care everyone.

p.s. I meant "Britain's Got Talent" in previous post not X factor. Duhhhhhh!
