Frizbe · 19/05/2005 18:04

Hi all, no signs here Tabs I'm afraid....who knows? sure will find out one day next week tho! one way or the other (my money is on other, but you never know....)
Roll on next week, so we can all find out what's going on!!
Thanks for the dust ladies, must dash as rather busy night and a dd who really needs a bath.
Hope all are ok?

Tabs · 19/05/2005 18:11

Rom + Wendy - apparently there's going to be an article on Look East news tonight about IVF - not sure what it's covering, but the wife of a colleague is going to be on it with their daughter conceived via IVF.

It starts in 20 mins, so just hoping you see this in time in case you're interested in watching. If you don't live in the east region you can get it on Sky on channel 951.

Tabs · 19/05/2005 19:22

Right - time to try and catch up properly!

Harrizeb - heard a new one today (from the guy whose wife/daughter were on the IVF article earlier) - apparently having a cold could increase your chances of conceiving! If I've correctly understood/remembered what he said, there's a protein (or was it an antibody - we discussed both) in your body which attacks foreign bodies in your body - it's designed to stop you getting thinks like lukeimia (sp?) as it attacks the bad cells, but it can also attack an embryo. So if you have a cold, the theory is that it's busy attacking the cold, so 'forgets' to attack the forming embryo!

Bella - apparently green tea or starflower oil are supposed to have same effect as grapefruit juice, so you could try one of those instead if you really can't face it! (no green tea after ov though, as bad during pregnancy).

Munz/Frizbe - whilst I'd love to oblige with the egg white experiment, I really don't seem to have a problem in that area - 5 days of it for the last few months.

Debbsy + Lilsmum - hugs to you both, hope you're both feeling brighter soon, but Debbsy you must try and talk to DH - someone has to make the first move, so you can feel all smug and righteous if it's you.

Charlee - BDing the day before ov is fine, as the sperm can live inside you for a while as long as there's some CM for them to tread water in!

Sparkly - nice to meet you - how long were your cycles before your m/c?

Piffle - nice to have you and your beautiful bits back

Teuch - any excuse for some extra BDing eh?

Handbag - we'll have none of that defeatist attitude on this thread young lady!! Could have been an implantation bleed - has it gone away now?

Milosmum - chin up honey - it could be good news in a few days, and if not then we'll face it then.

milosmum · 19/05/2005 19:33

thanks tabs- i really hope it is....

charleepeters · 19/05/2005 20:36

Hulababy · 19/05/2005 20:44

My, I only missed a day and there is so much to read. Going to have to be a bit rude (sorry - hope I am excused) and not read through them all tonight. I have scanned them and don't think I have missed a BFP. But I promise to do so tomorrow - my day off. Promise!

CD21 today. So another week or so to wait. Away for weekend - going to visit friends (and DD's godparents) in Surrey. They are expecting their first baby in about 4 weeks!

munz · 19/05/2005 21:33

Tabs · 20/05/2005 08:55

Morning all

Debbsy - so pleased to hear that (about DH, not about work!). Can you fit one more in your suitcase

sparkly · 20/05/2005 08:59

Hi all ... there's a lot to get through - haven't checked since yesterday morning!! Tabs, before my m/c my cycles ranged from 28-32 days. Today is CD38 so I'm starting to wonder if I should test. Feel a bit crampy etc so think AF must just be around the corner. Be good if she were (unless of course I'm miraculously PG!) so we can make a concerted effort next month!

Won't be around much today - too many meetings and not enough time for MN!!

sparkly · 20/05/2005 09:01

Don't where the end of my sentence went ... it was

So we can make a concerted effort next month!

Bella23 · 20/05/2005 09:09

Morning ladies!
Well CD17 so not a lot else to report, one more bd for luck tonight although I think ov has been and gone this month. DH was really soppy this morning and put his head on my tummy and asked if we have made a baby this month - I BLOODY HOPE SO !!!!!

Milosmum - keep your chin up love, I sooo know how you feel when you just have those days when you are defeatest and just can't bear the thought of another BFN. It will happen, just keep that thought and we're all here for the down days.

Debbsy - glad to hear that DH is being supportive, you see they are good in the end!. Cuba? How jealous am I ???

Tabs - yes have got Starflower so might give that a go next month is I need to ....obviously willing that I won't need it !

Rom - what CD are you on? You must be coming up to bd time?

Munz - am hoping that the lack of o symbol on the persona means that the powers above are in control and are going to deliver this month

How is everyone today?

charleepeters · 20/05/2005 09:29

HandbagAddiction · 20/05/2005 10:25

Morning everyone! Just checking in. Had a massive hormonal episode (more than likely PMT related as AF is due on Monday) with dh last night fuelled by the building hell we are currently living with, cash flow nightmares because of the building hell, feeling like I am the only one o our household that does anything, feeling like I am the only one that cares about what dd eats, when she should eat, how the building dust may be affecting her lungs or her ability to explore, letting the mountain of paperwork and filing get on top of me - which includes both mine and dh's (overdue) tax returns...etc. etc. Most of this is complete rubbish as to be fair dh does more than his fair share and is brilliant with dd - however last night, I completely lost it, broke down and sobbed! Feel so much better for it this morning though. Felt a bit sorry for dh though - he looked crestfallen as I reeled off all what was getting me down.....

Anyway to catch up with everyone else.....

Tabs - thanks for the positive vibes...but after last nights outburst, I really do think AF is on the way.

Charleepeters - 2ww - they suck don't they?

Bella23 - lol at your DH - how sweet is that. There is no way on earth that my dh would even contemplate doing something like that!

Debbsy - great to hear that your dh was being supportive last night. Whilst the work thing is horrid - it could be the catalyst to get you two taking properly again.

Sparkly - maybe you should put out a 'Missing' ad for your AF....???

Hello also to Hulababy, Romilly, Frizbe, Teuch, Piffle, Munz, Harriezb and Milosmum. Hope you're all looking forward to your weekends. I now I'm so looking forward to my mudwrap treatment at the spa tomorrow!!

Lilypad, Puppy and Wendy11 - where are you? Hope you're all OK.

StarryEyed · 20/05/2005 10:31

Hi all

I have been offline for a few days and boy did I have a lot to catch up on. I am on CD16 think I ovulated yesterday. Did a quick BD yesterday morning before I knew I had OVted so hope I was in time. Otherwise its next month for me. I am also on the 2WW - not very nice but I am going to be busy for the next two weeks which should help take my mind off things. Celebrating my wedding anniv tomorrow (5 years) and birthday next Fri (36 - prime of my life ) so life is looking good

romilly · 20/05/2005 11:17

hi starryeyed - have a lovely wedding anniversary and birthday - 36, ooh catching up with me!

tabs - thanks so much for the programme tip-off but i missed it unfortunately, was it interesting? only saw your post much later

handbag - sorry your having a spot of PMT trouble - hope d/h is extra nice to you today and maybe buys you a new handbag or something talking of handbags, i just fell in love with a Celine boogie bag yesterday - divine (£620 of divine though, so i better get to handbags anonymous meeting before i succumb )

bella - LOL at your d/h - cant see mr.rom doing that either. so its the loooooooooooong wait for you now hon.

munzie - i am tucking into a chocolate brownie with my latte this morning, i'm saving half for you its delish.

debbsy - so glad you are talking again cause i reckon its going to be pretty tricky ttc'ing if you arent talking, LOL. also v. envious of your hols. its disgusting weather in the big smoke today.

Tabs · 20/05/2005 12:40

Rom - I recorded it, so just watched it again and made some notes for you...

Apparently there was a big conference in London yesterday with international experts in fertility - they predicted a new era of hope for couples with fertility problems.

Then they showed the family I know and talked about how after 3 failed attempts at IVF they went on a trial of a drug called LIF, which succeeded first time and gave them baby girl.

Success rates now much better than the 11% recorded 20 years ago. Now about 24-25% - younger women maybe 30% chance, and older women (40-42) maybe a 5-10% chance.

Male infertility being investigated by Cambridge Uni using some new software to try and understand genes that are lost or altered, which may then help them to come up with a cure.

So nothing in terms of 'big news' that will help us, but encouraging in terms of outlook for the future.

Bella23 · 20/05/2005 13:14

Afternoon ladies

Rom - am so with you on the handbag addiction, I am afraid that nothing gives me grater satisfaction than a nice expensive handbag. My theory has always been that you can get away with slightly cheaper clothes by accessorizing them with expensive items like bags, shoes and jewellery.

Handbag - arh, sorry you have had an outburst about things getting on top of you. Do you at least feel better for getting it off your chest? I think sometimes an outburst is necessary in order to clear the air and make some chages.

Starry - happy wedding anniversary, hope you get spoilt rotten

HandbagAddiction · 20/05/2005 13:20

Ahhh handbags!! I feel as though I can speak from a position of authority of this particular topic....... Nothing like a bit of handbag retail therapy to get things back on track. Problem is though - that none of my handbags every seem practical enough to suit both mine and dd's needs. e.g. can't see me getting a beaker full of juice and a tub of breadsticks into one of my £400 slimline Tanner Krolle bags??!! Imagine what leaked Ribena would do to the leather finish..... .

Bella / Rom - I do feel so much better having had the outburst though...very cathartic! But think AF is now well on it's way, so I'm not going to be the bearer of the first BFP this month....

milosmum · 20/05/2005 14:10

must be a girl thing ladies- i have over 50 handbags and over 25 pairs of shoes. DH goes mental everytime i buy some BUT as you said i buy cheaper clothes and accessorise with bags, shoes and jewelrey.

still not feeling good -Bella-thanks for the kind words, its was really needed....

HandbagAddiction · 20/05/2005 14:21

Milosmum - you and I can console each other and I'm expecting AF to arrive imminently and I know when it happens I'm going to be gutted....

wendy11 · 20/05/2005 14:51

Afternoon Ladies

Laughing at handbag and shoe addiction. DH bought me a little wooden lady with the words 'A girl can never have too many shoes'. I absolutley adore shoes and have them all in their boxes in season and colour order. Probably the only completely organised part of my life is my shoe cupboard

Tabs - thanks for telling me about the news article unfortunatley I missed it but from what you have said at least the sucess rates are increasing which is good for those of us headed in that direction.

Rom - glad to see you are in a better frame of mind and that your DH would at least consider the option of IVF. It is the most terrifying decision DH and I have ever made to go down this route, but we are here now and have coped much better that either of us would have believed, although DH is having the wobbles about giving me my first injection in the morning. I am certainly not an expert but if there is anything that you want to know ask and I will help if I can. I will know more about the reality of the whole procedure in the next couple of weeks.

Bella - 2ww!! Came over all fuzzy when I read what you DH said this morning. Sometimes they can be so sensitive and at other times complete pigs

Debbsy - glad you and your DH have made up. Look forward to your hols and come back fit, rested and ready to go.

Busy at work at the moment so only get snatched minutes on here. Exams are over and just the marking to do with external examiners coming on Thursday, so head down tail up this weekend for me.

Hello to everyone else....Handbagaddiction, Milosmu, Starryeyed, Charleepeters, Sparkly, Munz, Hulababy, Frixbe, Piffle and anyone esle I have missed.

Hope you are all OK and looking forward to the weekend.....enjoy.

Frizbe · 20/05/2005 14:59

Oh Milsomum and Handbag, have a virtual £500 on me, and go and get yourselves something nice, to cheer yourselves up, AF hasn't acutally arrived for either of you has it? you could just both have horrible pregnancy hormones?

Starreyeyed, happy aniversary! and birthday next week, I wish you the best present ever

Sparkly, do you think you should test? I do!

Debsey that's good re you and dh speaking , I hope the work thing has gone ok as well?

Frizbe · 20/05/2005 15:02

Oh, forgot to tell you girls, I've raised a trace on the missing parcels for Munz, Rom, Wendy11, and Hula, it appears they were miss routed, via Japan, but don't worry they're on their way!
