Tostaky,

I must confess that I did a test about a week ago, obviously came back negative but was too early to test anyway so I don't know why I was torturing myself.

Today I have all the signs of af arriving so am not going to bother.

This ttc lark is so much harder than I thought. It is literally on my mind all the time.

Congratulations Poppyjen, that is fantastic news!

MummyElk · 08/07/2009 21:05

hi all!!

so Tostaky - in answer, i don't know - i did another test the other day (monday i think) and it was negative..
which isn't surprising - DD1 took 5 tests before I got a BFP..
boobs are hurting tonight so i'll test in the morning i think, I'm not sure though! I don't FEEL very pregnant? but still no AF.
Anyway - just to raise a smile - DH and I had a bit of a shag fest last night (TMI) - just for fun and no real BD intention (slightly wine-fuelled too). I did the whole post coital legs up against the wall (it's a habit by now)...

anyway - i fell asleep in that position. DH carried on watching the Inbetweeners....as I started to snore...
woke up at about 2 with no feeling in my feet and slightly confused....
i'm so classy

lol mummyelk! i have always wondered if putting your leg up after BD was useful? i did it once only i think... how can you sleep in that position.. you must have been exhausted! Lucky you!!!

I have absolutly no idea whats going on with my ovulation... opks should show a positive but they dont... just in case we do the deed every evening now... DP is rather pleased!! I hope it is going to work this months because next month i will be away from dp when i ovulate...

sweetkitty · 09/07/2009 08:40

Mummyelk - the things we do lol

tostaky - always a winner BDing every day, I have always gone for every second day myself, don't want to wear DP out

CD12 here already, almost action stations tomorrow night DD3 is being shipped out into her own bedroom (she is one next week) and is being night weaned as I haven't had more than 3 hours continuous sleep in oh 18 months or so, I think DP and I are going to celebrate having our room to ourselves again by erm well you know hopefully making another one to come and invade our room, oh well.

Bettymum · 09/07/2009 09:05

MummyElk
Well we managed to BD last night, straight to sleep only to be woken at 3.30am by DD crying...went and patted her back to sleep...again at 3.45...DH went in and told her to go to sleep at 4.00...at 4.15 he brought her in to our bed...at 5.00 she clambered over me and out of bed and started pottering around the room chatting. At 5.30 I got up and got dressed. Need a very early night if we're going to BD again tonight! Doesn't help that the Tour de France highlights are on at 9pm every night so we're watching cycling on the telly instead of going to bed .

MummyElk · 09/07/2009 09:50

Well legs in air worked for DD, and the other random urban myth i've heard (it's so completely b8llocks but i like it) is that it nearly always makes a girl!!! ha ha ha

Anyway another test this morning and still negative.... so i'm now awaiting AF i think. It did take about 5 tests last time to get a positive one but I just think it's not happened this time round.
I only had my coil taken out about 3 weeks ago so perhaps my cycle is getting back to "normal" - any thoughts?

bettymum i've got no advice on the tv scheduling nightmare (do they not KNOW our dilemmas?!) but suffice to say Big Brother is on at various points which seems to distract DH too. I've been known to watch the telly over his shoulder before (WITHOUT REALISING IT I HASTEN TO ADD) but not sure that's the most romantic way to make a baby

[shuffles off wondering if everyone thinks she has a completely ridiculous sex life]

Beanmum · 09/07/2009 19:09

Love the image of sleeping legs akimbo for better egg access!! Marvellous.

Well, I'm pretty sure we've had the fertile bit and we managed a fair effort on the bonking front, so obviously the imaginary symptoms are starting already Am determined not to pay them any attention until af late this time. In need of distraction.

Any more news from the front of the bus?

MummyElk · 10/07/2009 07:59

help....
woke up feeling very rough this morning after just a couple of glasses wine last night. thought "my liver can cope with more what's going on"
so did ANOTHER test (ebay cheapie though) and there is the FAIIIIINNNNTTTTEESSTTT 2nd line...
what to do? it took 5 tests with my DD to work get a positive...
should i go buy a posh clearblue one?
help
x

Bettymum · 10/07/2009 09:18

Do a posh one!
I got pg about 8/9 weeks ago and have had a mc since, but I got a faint line on a cheapy, next day tested again and the line was even fainter, so I had to go to Boots that lunchtime and get a clearblue, it gave me a super clear BFP!
Fingers crossed! x

idealcamel · 10/07/2009 09:49

MummyElk A line is a line is a line is a line. Do the post test immediately. Oh, and brilliant stories.

Anyone else in 2ww of horror?

idealcamel · 10/07/2009 09:50

Posh test! Not post test.

Yesterday, in a Very Important Meeting, I was trying to say that I'd congratulated someone on their promotion - only promotion came out pregnancy. Freud, much?

MummyElk · 10/07/2009 11:19

ha love it Idealcamel! that made me laugh!

Well...i went for the middle posh (there being a Bogof on first response at boots)
and it's positive!!!

yiiiikkkkeeesssss...

sorry to anyone in the midst of a horrid 2ww etc, i suppose it does prove it does happen though...
what do i do now? am i still allowed on this bus or am I swiftly kicked off
xx

Bettymum · 10/07/2009 11:39

YAY!!!!!!!!! Congrats MummyElk and future BabyElk!

Beanmum · 10/07/2009 12:22

idealcamel - excellent - have you managed to start an entirely unfounded rumour about your colleague.

Yes, I'm also halfway through the 2WW of misery, and it's symptoms a go-go, though i don't trust them.

mummyelk huge congratulations - no, you certainly do not get thrown off the bus in your condition

MummyElk · 10/07/2009 13:10

ahhh thank you bettymum much appreciated! I'm sorry about your last mc but all fingers crossed for you this time...
I can't believe it took so long for test to come up but still, never mind, all good now! i think my failsafe is the alcohol thing, though my boobs have been feeling it a bit too the last few days.
looking like i'll be due about 3 days before my 30th birthday
anyone else on bus thinking about testing? cangaroo think you were thinking about it?
tostaky?

idealcamel · 10/07/2009 14:22

Woo hoo! Congratulations MummyElk.

Bean Is worse than starting completely unfounded rumours - I was congratulating a BOY. Now I look more mad than usual. And given that I'm insanely symptom checking, I look pretty nuts to start with...

TFI Friday is all I can say.

Bettymum · 10/07/2009 14:53

Haven't they seen Junior?

sweetkitty · 10/07/2009 17:08

mummyelk - fantastic news congratualtions, as I tell everyone a line is a line is a line, ebay cheapies are awful for those faint lines took me a week after AF was due to get a good BFP

I'm on EWCM watch today, now from last time ov is CD15 but as it's only my second cycle post DD3 and I didn't know about the last one I could be all over the place

Beanmum · 10/07/2009 18:34

camel - TF indeed. We've got friends staying this weekend and we're off to see the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain tomorrow, so am intending not to think about P-ingOAS at all.

Have a good weekend, everyone.

kaffywaffy · 10/07/2009 20:52

Me again,

In response to your question rachxx about d and c, and d and s...

basically the same thing - cleaning out the womb, following a miscarriage (also used as a means to abort)occasionally used for other gynae conditions.
d stands for dilate (the cervix to allow access of chosen tool)
c stands for curretage (spoon type thing)
s is suction - like a hoover.

bit gruesome, but you did ask!!! but very important to prevent infection.

sweetkitty · 10/07/2009 22:27

welcome to mumsnet kaffywaffy word of warning you will very quickly become addicted

cangaroo · 10/07/2009 22:33

Congratulations mummyelk. Three down - excellent!

I had a question for anyone who has advice.

My job is really stressful at the moment, and we also have other things going on i.e. trying to sell our house. I have read lots of things about stress as being one of the main factors that makes it difficult to conceive. I am really worried that I am not going to be able to conceive due to lifestyle factors, but of course this worry is making me more stressed...

I have tried doing things that I can control, such as not going out for late nights (hence on MN at 10.30 on a Friday night ), exercising and eating well. But the main thing that I cannot control, which is my work stress I cannot do anything about. Has anyone conceived whilst they have been very stressed, or can they offer any reassurance?

Thanks very much x

Beanmum · 10/07/2009 22:49

Hmm interesting one, cangaroo. Well I don't know about really stressed, but when I conceived ds had plenty on my mind - was just starting retraining for complete career change, we were saving up to buy a house at the peak of the market etc and it happened first time V lucky, I know. There's nothing more annoying than people saying, oh just relax and it will happen. Grrr... YOu can't control all the external stresses in your life, but it's certainly not going to help getting stressed about being stressed!

Welcome kaffy
