Hi all,

nothing really to report here, just on the 2ww! Hope all are well x

KiwiKat · 01/09/2009 18:26

Hi everyone, hope you all had good long weekends. I've just logged onto the computer for the first time since Friday to see that three friends have had their babies - all girls. And I'm delighted to say that I'm delighted for them and not sad or jealous - that's a bit of a turnaround! Hmm, have just realised that it's the achieving pregnancy thing that hurts the most if I think about it, as that's the first step which I seem to be unable to take ... Ok, am getting better but am still not there yet.

AF due today/tomorrow, and all the signs are there that witch will arrive on schedule.

stac14 · 01/09/2009 21:02

Hi sara I havent had the clomid yet as no af, last af was 2 weeks long so not sure when it will come on for me to use clomid. I have successfully managed to go up to 1000mg without any problems, bit of excess tummy acid but thats all. I am on 75mcg of levothyroxine what do you take? What side effects did you have with the met?

kiwikat sounds like your relaxing a bit about ttc, I felt the same when my cuz and his partner had a baby girl in August she is the most gorgeous wee thing, I just cant wait to have my bfp.

clure have you got lots of things to keep you occupied during the 2ww? when does dd go to school?

fairy thats good you feel better with the clomid.

paddington hows you?

clairebear are you feelin any better hun?

Hope everyone else is good xxx

saraross · 02/09/2009 10:27

I took provera to make my af come perhaps you could ask for that? I am on 50mg levonthyroxine. The metformin made me very sick especially at night or if i didnt eat too much that day! Also when i first started taking it i got the runs pretty bad but now im used to it its really not so bad. I would say i have suffered from exhaustion since taking metformin as i have been tired all the time. I am getting hot flushes now too but i think that is from the clomid? Every one seems very positive on here!

stac14 · 02/09/2009 12:19

hey sara i have felt really tired but thought that was just me, how long you been taking met? I have provera but not due on for another week or so, so I will wait to see if the met brings me on. The clomid gave me hot flushes so i'm sure thats whats cousing yours. Everyone on here is great, defo know how to pick you up of your feeling down. Also helps cos they know what your going through, i would say its been a lifeline for me xxx

Fairygodmother1 · 02/09/2009 13:00

Hi Sara,

Tablet 5 today! Fingers crossed for this month (month 2).

Kiwikat - I agree, it's the getting preg not the actual babies thats heart wrenching.

Back to work for me after 6 weeks off tomorrow. Kinda looking forward to the new school year but also enjoyed having a rest all summer!

Side effects all gone really so thats a total bonus!

saraross · 02/09/2009 18:50

HiYA stac14 i have been taking metformin since mid june. I still get sick now sometimes if i dont eat enough which is hard as i find that metformin really puts me off eating! I just really dont fancy anything! The side effect of exhaustion is listed in the patient information leaflet with the met so i am sure that is why you have been tired too .... its very difficult feeling exhausted all the time and i have felt that its got worse over time.

fairy hi, i missed the fact that it was your 2nd month on the clomid .... i have my fingers crossed for you too! Did they give you a scan on day 12 to 14 of your 1st month? I am waiting to have mine aswell as a blood test on day 21 to confirm wether i have ovulated or not as if i havnt they will up my dose of clomid for month 2! What did your results show?

Fairygodmother1 · 02/09/2009 19:02

Hi Sara,
i didn't have a scan but had a blood test on day 21 9well day 22 as day 21 was a Sunday). i have to go this month too. I really feel i've been left to get on with it. I bled again after a week after finishing p & then started belleding again at day 35 so thats where I am now with taking Clomid. I went to GP when i bled & he said it can happen but if it happens after taking this months Clomid then to go back & see him. i have an appointment with my specialist in Dec. Like i said, left to get on with it.
it was a bit of a nightmare in the first place because they only seemed to take us seriously once we were married 3 months ago. Before that they wouldn't give me anything although it was obvious that it was me at fault with PCOS & irregular p. They even lost my husband's test results & we had to get them done again via GP!
Oh well, fingers crossed for this month!

xxx

clairebear88 · 02/09/2009 19:02

hiya
thanks for all your well wishes i feel much better now. its just all the paperwork thats a nightmare when you have an accident.

im back on the clomid for the last cycle and tbh not very hopeful as had 5 months last yr and 5 so far this yr with no bfp.
I dont know anyone in rl who has been through IUI or IVF so really nervous about the next step.

baby dust **

KiwiKat · 02/09/2009 22:04

You just can't misread those signs, can you - Kiwikat cd1. (Blah) Back on the clomid rollercoaster tomorrow.

Hope you're all having restful, pleasant Wednesdays.

saraross · 03/09/2009 12:54

FAIRY that is terrible! Has your GP not reffered you to a gyne?
I must say that my gyne is very supportive and is following up my progress very well. They should be monitoring you as if the 50mg was not a strong enough dose to make you ovulate then you are just wasting your time until december my first follow up with the gyne is 5th October and this is my 1st month on clomid and metformin! I am hoping that 50mg is enough to make me ovulate though as i am sure the side effects of clomid will get worse as the doses get inctreased~!

They are giving me a scan to see if i have produced any mature folicles. Fingers crossed! Wishing you all lots of baby dust ................

stac14 · 03/09/2009 13:47

hey saraross beleive it or not my side effects didnt increase when I upped the clomid. IF anything they seemed to ease up but that may your body getting used to it. Whens your scan?

Hey kiwikat soz af got you, are you ok?

fairy I agree with sara that isn't good treatment I would defo go back to the gp about your blood results I didnt ov on 50mg and it was increased after 2 goes on it.

How is everyone else today? It is a miserable day here yet again, but I should be used to it by now lol xx

KiwiKat · 03/09/2009 22:04

Fairy, that's terrible. What can you do about it?

Thanks, Stac, I'm fine. It didn't hit as hard as it has done in the past.

Saraross, good luck with the scan.

How's everyone else?

Fairygodmother1 · 03/09/2009 22:35

I don't know if I can do anything. It was the specialist thats sending me for blood tests on day 21 so don't think GP will be able to access the results. I really don't know tbh.
Not really been given any advice. It's been such a struggle to get the appointments with specialist. That was put back a month in May. Thats how I finally got the Clomid at the end of June but had to wait another month for my cycle!
I can honestly say that since I moved here I have found the NHS to be utter crap! I went nearly 4 years ago to my old GP to say that my pill wasn't agreeing with me & was told that he'd never heard of that so i took myself off the pill & thats when the PCOS symptoms worsened. Then thats taken me a few years of complaining to GPs & a year of trying for a baby to get them to investigate!

Fingers crossed for this month!

I'm 44 and had a baby naturally when I was 41 after 5 years of ttc and 'unexplained infertility'. We've been trying for another baby and recently two day 21 blood tests revealed I was not ovulating so have had one month of clomid 50g and doctor has upped it to 100g this month. Would be good to hear from 'older women' as not sure whether our age means that we're less likely to be successful on clomid?

My doc told me to take the pills days 1-5 but I've read over and over it should be 3-7 or 5-9? When is most effective? Also people mention scans which they've had done. I've not been offered any monitoring (maybe because I already have a child)? What do the scans tell you?

AttilaTheMeerkat · 04/09/2009 07:02

Devonmade

Is this doc you refer you your GP?. This is appalling if this is the case. Not everyone is suitable to take clomid to begin with, you should be monitored whilst on it.

Given your age and your previous gynae history (Unexplained subfertiliy is no diagnosis at all, all this means is that they have failed to find out what is wrong. Also this "diagnosis" can be given to couples who have not been adequately investigated) you should at the very least be under the care of a gynae cons at a subfertility unit.

I think they should be checking your egg quality and ovarian reserve if they have not done so already as this does decline with age.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 04/09/2009 07:08

Fairy

You can complain and I would do so, you can complain to the Chief Exec of your Primary Care Trust.

You should be under the care of a gynae at a subfertility unit at hospital; PCOS is a condition that should not be messed around with by GPs. Also clomid is not suitable for all PCOSers and you should be carefully monitored whilst on it as it can increase LH levels markedly. As many PCOSers have an excess of this hormone to start with this is not always the treatment of choice.

You may find Verity's website www.verity-pcos.org.uk helpful

AttilaTheMeerkat · 04/09/2009 07:09

IN your case as well Fairy I'd be requesting your GP to refer you to another NHS unit particularly if you live near a large city. It is fair to say that some subfertility units in the NHS are far better than others.

stac14 · 04/09/2009 09:58

Hey ladies
I see we are fast approaching a 1000 posts again does anyone know how to start a new thread? I will try see if I can do it lol

How is everyone today? The rain has stopped for the moment yay lol xxx

stac14 · 04/09/2009 10:01

managed to make a new one the link is as follows
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/819131-TTC-Clomid-Part-3?rnd=1252054796335

Devonmade · 05/09/2009 09:31

Thanks AttilaTheMeerkat. I will speak to my GP and ask whether they can do some further tests so I can be more realistic about my chances at least.

Chloe55 · 23/01/2011 22:25

Hi everyone, do you mind if I join in?

An on my first month of clomid, cd16. Had 2 mcs, my last one being a mmc in august last year and i have a 4yr old ds. I have PCOS and endometriosis.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in but I am very confused about my cycle so wondered if anyone could enlighten me as to whether this normal when taking clomid:

So cd2 - started Clomid

cd3,4,5,6,7,8 - was a total bitch with lots of abdominal pain, headaches etc. Dh even told me he considered telling me it wasn't worth it as he didn't know who I had become but kept reminding himself it was the drugs.

cd9,10 - swi, attitude/personality back to normal.

cd12 - had some spotting so presumed o had come early, boobs hurt, swi

cd14 - swi as gp had advised to def swi on this day.

cd16 (today) - blood streak discharge when I wiped. Have taken myself off to the bedroom since 4pm as actually want to kill dh (I know i am being a total bitch hence removing myself from him) and have had period pains for the past couple of hours.

Any ideas? Thanks. Ok, willhave a proper read through the thread and try to familiarise myself with names and situations Smile
