Hi everyone. I am starting up a new thread since our old one was reaching the 1000 post limit.

Here is a link to the old thread.

Great you made it over here Kiwikat - welcome! have you turned into a complete ogre with the clomid or are things settling now? Hope you're ok.

Welcome too LucyG. It does sound like you didn't get the usual routine tests (HSG etc) and at my NHS fertility centre, you get scanned the first month to check progress. Sounds like the usual postcode lottery. I am learning that you need to be quite assertive and shirty in order to get proper medical attention sometimes. I hope you manage to get some answers.

Just thought I'd join in the acupuncture talk - I've had 2 sessions in the last month (my 3rd due tomorrow) and my lady said she avoids any points in the stomach - especially after OV as she doesn't want to interfere with the work of the drugs. Maybe without the drugs it would be different. I still think it's beneficial having your blockages cleared and promoting good blood flow (into womb etc) is all part of the balancing etc. At least that's how I justify the £30!!

What happened BeanieB? Stac I had the funny thing last cycle where AF faintly started and then stopped for a good few hours. I was totally in denial - did a test and got a BFN but was still wishful thinking it might not actually be AF and should I risk taking the clomid? Sure enough, a few hours later AF pitched up but it doesn't half mess your emotions around all this am I /aren't I? business with the way the clomid can effect your bleeding. How you getting on?

How's everyone else?

stac14 · 12/05/2009 22:23

Hi ladies

As expected AF came with a vengence, I like you fruitbowl did a pregnancy test just in case, as I didnt want to harm anything that was there by taking clomid lol But I am now back on the clomid so I just have to hope that I will ov again this month.

Welcome to the thread lucy 6 years is far too long without any other interventions, have you asked for a second opinion?

Hey clure how are you? Have you went back on the provera?

beanieb I am given provera to induce a bleed as I have pcos and dont take periods on my own. I did however get af this time as I ovulated this month and that will usually induse af itself.

How are you amelied?

Nice to hear from you awen I eventually ov'd on 3rd cycle of clomid 100mg consultant said it usually take 3 months to get into your system so maybe this month will your month. Glad your back xxx

Hi Stac14 - Im well thanks, on Day 27 and resisting opening up the Clearblue Digi I have in my possession . AF appeared at Day 27 last month so I think I will bide my time.

LucyGrif had a session of Acupuncture last night - I had needles as follows (I paid more attention this week after our conversation yesterday!!): One on each of my feet, one on each of my ankles, knees and two on my wrist each. One where my breastbone is and two in a line under that. None on my stomach. I also have one on my forehead between the eyebrows.

Happy Wednesday

Hi Lucy

You've certainly been fobbed off badly here by these people and if you're up to it I would put in a letter to the Chief Executive of your Primary care Trust. Two blood tests and a single semen analysis is in no way a proper investigation. Neither of you to my mind have been investigated at all adequately and now they're washing their hands of you.

NICE also have guidelines as to what tests and treatments should be done.

Given your previous detailed gynae history to date as well you should have both been taken far more seriously, and far earlier as well by a major NHS subfertility unit. It is fair to say that some NHS units are far better than others and unfortunately you are also a victim of the postcode lottery.

You may well have taken clomid for no good reason (also you were not monitored whilst on it which is also a no-no).

Accupuncture won't do you any harm if its done properly but I would look for another person to do this.

I would ask your GP for a referral to a major NHS unit in your nearest city asap.

You will need to be persistant in order to get answers.

Thanks stac was going to amend mine to "taking provera" and you beat me to it! 2nd day of provera, taking 3 lots of 10mg. Forgot to take this mornings and remembered when I'd dropped DD off at nursery so had to walk (very quickly) home grab the meds and walk even quicker to school. Just got my evening dose to take. this week I've noticed more intense hot flushes. Aren't they awful, feel embarassed sometimes when you have sweaty face talking to people, thinking they looking at you like you're a withdrawing heroin addict!

boo are you not eligible for a nhs round of ivf?

babydust to you all xx

amelied · 13/05/2009 21:35

Hi Stac

Today I thought I would test tomorrow morning but feeling a wee bit crampy just now so may hold off and test Friday - How good am I?? .

I have two clearblue digitals so I could test tomorrow; I think I am holding off as Im scared if I am pregnant (I have been there three times before resulting in 3 mc's) but then I am used to disappointment if I am not as this has been going on for three and a half years.

Hope everyone is well...

amelied · 13/05/2009 21:38

Stac also meant to say - the first two months I was eating like a horse - mainly sweet things (I have to admit I made a cake mix but didnt bake it ) as I didnt have anything sweet at home!!

I put on half a stone - Be Warned

fruitbowl · 13/05/2009 21:58

Well I got a BFN this am CD31 as wanted to test to tell the acupuncture lady. Weird thing is I do have sicky and tired symptoms so was v disappointed. Still, I suppose it's not all over til AF sings. But am prob just deluding myself - hey ho (been here before icon - yawn).

Anyone else tested yet? Amelie, Beanie, Sgibbo, anyone else? Or are you being good and waiting?

Stac - Only been sweaty betty at nights but I've def pigged out on sweet things too but that's fairly normal for me - think clomid made it worse tho!!

MamaMaiasaura · 13/05/2009 22:53

fruitbowl - sorry for the bfn but keeping fingers crossed still

Stac - sorry af got you but at least you know where you are i guess. I got the hot flushes with clomid for ds2 but not really any this time

I put prescription in so due to collect it tomorrow and start provera either tomorrow or friday. Not done another preg test, trying ot hold off till weekend or maybe just see if i get af from provera.

I would appreciate views here, I am meant to be taking clomid 150 cd2 to cd6, they dont tend to prescribe higher dosage as they dont feel it makes a difference at my clinic.. however i have some clomid left over from previous prescription and i am thinking of trying it ay 200mg a day, just for this cycle as will be last attempt till i have completely stopped breastfeeding (down to 3 a day now). What do you all think?

sissy0928 · 13/05/2009 23:23

Hi ladies,

Checking in again, hope all is well with everyone. Amelied, thank you for asking about us graduates, and best of luck to ya, I'm crossing my fingers!! I was the same way...

Just FYI I was on 100mg Chlomid 2 months and it put AF off the 1st month my 2 days...2nd month 2 and 3 days late, I wasn't about to test, plus my boobs hurt like crazy and I was cramping, swearing AF was to hit at any second!! So you never know.

I go in tomorrow to the high risk drs for the special testing...I was referred due to my age (I'll be 40 next week). I'm 12 weeks now and things are definitely stretching and pulling in there, it freaks me out to feel that way, don't remember it so much with DD1 14 years ago! Then again, I wasn't 40!

I'm wishing you all Baby Dust and love love love!

KiwiKat · 13/05/2009 23:40

Hi everyone, final day of clomid today - I've been prescribed 100 mg, but I notice most people seem to have been on 50 mg - is this normal, or does it vary? Off on Monday for a scan to check egg development, or whatever it is.

amelied · 14/05/2009 08:42

Im out! Caved in at 5am this morning - BFN.

Getting used to sporting a face. Going to nip out in my lunch hour and shop, the only way to take my dark cloud away

Here was me thinking as well, that Clomid would sort me out...

fruitbowl · 14/05/2009 09:24

Ahhh Amelied - really, sorry. I'm joining you with a devastated face today too as got AF this am. Really thought I was pg this time. What an absolute load of crap this is to go through eh? Take care.

Awen - ooh I'd be inclined not to up the dose if it was me without getting proper advice. You might end up with quads!! Seriously, I understand why you're considering it though. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Kiwi - I'm on 100mg like you. I was nearly going to have to take 150mg because the consultant said he wanted me to produce not 1 but 2 mature follicles each month to give me a better chance of having one good quality one being fertilised - due to my age. Maybe it's an age consideration?? Sure you wanted to hear that!!

Great to hear from a graduate sissy - have you had your 12 week scan yet?

How's everyone else?
xx

paddington21 · 14/05/2009 20:05

Hi ladies! I have internet woo hoo! I am back, back, back! Missed your much needed advice but I am here on day 14! Af came on like clockwork on the 1st- mad! I am this month ovulating already the last 2 month's I ov'ed on day 18/19 with a 31/33 day cycle? Any ideas on why I am early or is this my cycle working itself out.
Was gutted not be pg last month it really hit me hard. Was an emotional wreck. I am glad to say totally dandy now though. Took robitssin (however you spell it) the red one twice a day 10ml. After my clomid I did few days on ust on 10ml dose then upped it to twice a day until now. 1st day not taking it as to be honest i think it has made me very coldy and two i dont know if it really works.

That is all my news I am going to catch up on all yours now. So glad to be back

Hope and Dust x xx

paddington21 · 14/05/2009 20:30

just read everything- accupuncture, been toying this idea over for a while- do you feel anything different? I've been bathing in epsom salts while on af this month to clear myself of impurities. If anything felt very relaxed afterwards.
i hope we get BFP's soon we so deserve it!

KiwiKat · 14/05/2009 22:30

Fruitbowl, yes, obviously due to my advanced age! But glad to hear that I haven't been taking the wrong dose.

Clure · 14/05/2009 22:31

hi, I'm on day 3 of provera and feeling ok, still having hot flushes though.
paddington good to see you back, though disappointed for you that Af came. just a quickie - the robitissin - does that help to produce CM or does it make the CM you have more sperm friendly? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?! Only asking as since my last period (5th Jan!!) I haven;t had any CM, thought maybe the robitissin would help?

Awen I would be inclined to agree with fruitbowl on seeking advice before upping the dose. hope you ok though

fruitbowl you got AF

night all, poopt and off to bed xx

paddington21 · 15/05/2009 11:00

Hey clure I think its meant to produce CM however I have only got mucus everywhere else! It is better today though so perhaps I am ovulating. I've had trouble with CM for 2 months. The 1st month I had lots... oh clomid why do you play such tricks and confuse me so!
Sorry about the Af fruitbowl

lucygrif · 15/05/2009 11:12

hi girls - thanks for all your advice I will certainly be giving them what for when i go on 29th!! can anyone provide me with some more info on what else I can suggest to the consultant? Also, has anyone got any success stories on IUI? I've heard its cheaper than IVF so thought we would give that a go first, after this next and final round of Clomid. On CD 29 at the moment and am optimistic, but then again I am every month!! Have sore boobs (right one moreso) but no cramping yet (although I did last night), have been tired, slightly sicky and very little PMT. Am tempted to do a test but don't wanna waste my money! Must have spent £100's on tests - will find out this weekend one way or another. Good luck to everyone!

fruitbowl · 15/05/2009 11:14

Thanks girls. Erm read somewhere that the cough med doesn't create any more CM but just thins out what's there. I have been seriously mucously challenged so will be trying all the tricks again this month - grapefruit juice, cough med and someone mentioned eve primrose is good?

Remember how we had to keep our thoughts of mucous to ourselves before the dawn of t'internet?!

fruitbowl · 15/05/2009 11:15

xposted lucyG - good luck!

beanieb · 15/05/2009 11:29
