Hey KiwiKat - welcome, make yourself at home.

We are a good supportive bunch here with much hand-holding experience.

Questions more than welcome..

beanieb · 10/05/2009 11:52

wave to kiwiKat how are you finding teh Clomid? I had very few side effects with mine.

tetleytea you never know you might be lucky with the activity you have already managed but good lick for sneaking some more in!

My cycle is usually bang on 26 days.

tetleytea · 10/05/2009 15:45

beanieb if your AF's usually on time that sounds hopeful! Really keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

Well i manged to get the deed done a 2nd time ,god knows how we managed it in the circumstances!.. in the bathroom literally through the wall to where my mum was sitting at the computer...it made me feel like i was about 15 years old and snogging on my parents' sofa and dp was grumpy about having to "perform" on the spot - poor bloke! This month really took the biscuit for bad timimg...

tetleytea · 10/05/2009 15:49

forgot to say welcome kiwicat!

I've had very few side effects with clomid too, hope it's suiting you

dunno what's going on with those smiley icons, they seem to be munching up the text.

have a good sunday everyone! All i can say is thank heck you're out there - i'd be going mad without you. Dp already thinks i'm nuts...

stac14 · 10/05/2009 18:12

Hi ladies
Welcome to the thread kiwikat I'm also ttc 2nd child, we have been trying for just over a year now, but it doesnt half take it out of you lol Dont know where I would have been without the ladies on here.

I have a quick question for you all. As you know AF came on Friday nothing heavy but from last night I have had no bleeding at all, have any of you had this and what did you do about the clomid? I haven't taken mine yet as AF isn't properly here.

Thanks for your help as always xxxx

KiwiKat · 10/05/2009 22:00

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. It must be the clomid that's making me PMTish and snappy - both DH and I have noticed how snippy I've been today. I feel dangerous, like I'm bruising for a fight.

Tetley, love the image of you bding on the other side of the wall from your mum!

tetleytea · 11/05/2009 15:36

beanieb · 11/05/2009 16:16

hey there tetleytea

no news. I have resisted testing again after the BFN on Saturday. Am now three days overdue. My boobs are quite big and a bit uncomfortable but that could just be PMT.

I am guessing I might test tomorrow if no period but I would actually like to wait until I hit 31 days as it's really really unusual for me to go over 30 days (I think maybe twice since I started trying in 2007) so if I can manage that and then I get a BFN I think I'll be very disapppointed!

I might give the tests to my OH!

Clure · 11/05/2009 18:07

Hi

beanie will you test with one of those early response tests? Good luck tomorrow

i finally managed to see GP today who has given me a prescription for more provera. Have to take 10mg three times a day.
God if that doesn't force a period, nothing will I've also been having a few more hot flushes and have got some Red Clover extract (this is supposed to help with hot flushes) but am not really sure whether I should take it as I'll be taking provera and also I take meds to lower my blood pressure.

hoping rest of you are ok x

beanieb · 11/05/2009 19:46

All I have is Sainsbury ones. I tested with a clearblue digital a couple of days ago - the one's which have the words 'not pregnant' (n my case) but not sure how sensitive they are. Am really not getting my hopes up because I was 14 days past ovulation when I did it.

Can I ask - is provera given to people who just don't get regular periods or because clomid messes up your periods?

MamaMaiasaura · 11/05/2009 22:01

Stac - re the question of the metformin, I was on it 3 times a day, think it was 20mg each time. Was on it longer than the clomid, was using it before to help with symptoms of PCOS. Congrats on vo'ing though the bleeding sounds confusing.. is it possible it was implantation bleeding or is that too hopeful?

I havent gone to drs for prescription yet, but will probably drop it in tomorrow. I have been having alot of low down period type aches and am trying so hard not to compare to my successful time for ds2. I remember the week or 2 before i got bfp i though period was deffo coming for all the low down aches etc. This whole ttc really gets you symptom spotting doesnt it?

Clure - good that you got another prescription, if i get mine started soon we might be on same days

Clure · 11/05/2009 22:35

Beanie - I can only speak from my own experience of provera and it was prescribed because I'm not having a period. Think it can be used to regulate periods too. I know stac has taken provera and possibly a couple of other ladies on here.

nice to hear from you Awen, you sound more positive.

Hi everyone

I too have been advised to join this thread, had 1st child 11 years (I am 30) ago with previous partner - TTC for 6 years now, had one ectopic preg 4 years ago followed by lap & dye to confirm no damage to tubes.

Since then nothing. Have been tested at NHS fertility clinic (2 blood tests at the start and a sperm test) and no abnormalities were found. They therefore stuck me on 50mg Clomid for 3 months without any monitoring or scanning etc, I went back after 3 months and they doubled my dose to 100mg. I am now on day 25 of my 5th cycle so only have one chance left. After that, they say they cannot help us and that we should look on the internet for an IVF clinic.

I am concerned that I may have been taking Clomid for no reason and risking my long term health and fertility purely because they couldn't be bothered testing me thoroughly. I have had no examinations in the 6 months I have attended the clinic.

Can anyone suggest any alternative treatments? I have suggested one or two to my clinic who just say that they do not have the facilities and that I will be thoroughly investigated by the IVF clinic!! HELP!!
x

amelied · 12/05/2009 14:08

Hi Lucyfrif - welcome!

Unfortunately, there is clinics like this in the NHS system. Can your doctor refer you to another Fertility clinic/hospital for proper testing. I am on round#3 of Clomid this month and my only testing was a 21 day blood test the first month but other girls on here have had a scan the first month. I think you should have had some sort of check up on the first month though.

There is a mumsnetter on here, Attila the meerkat who is fully versed on Clomid here - maybe she will be on soon to give you an answer.

I think because you have a child that they will not be able to give you IVF therefore them suggesting private clinics.

Hope this helps!

Hi everyone on this beautiful day

Was just wondering where all the Graduates have gone - would be nice to hear how they are all getting on.

lucygrif · 12/05/2009 14:28

Thanks amelied.

Would anyone recommend seeing a gynaecologist? I am just getting worried that there may be something more sinister going on, having not been examined since the ectopic 4 years ago. They just say that the pics from the lap & dye don't show any abnormalities but surely after 4 years that could have changed?

lucy

amelied · 12/05/2009 14:43

Hi Lucygrif

Regardless whether you have a child already or not, 6 years TTC is a long time and I would personally reckon that more investigative work needs completed.

Without sounding harsh, there must be something not quite right and am really surprised they have just left you like this.

There are other alternatives like reflexology, acupuncture etc. I go to an acupuncturist who specializes in fertility problems - at the end of the day, it all depends on your budget. But that is not going to answer if there is a medical issue.

If I was is your position I would look for another doctor/clinic, as your own clinic now looks like they are washing their hands of you.

A lot of others on here swear by Zita West and her clinic if you were financially able.

lucygrif · 12/05/2009 14:55

Yes I agree, which is why I am getting more worried. I have been going to acupuncture for last 2 months, not tried reflexology.
What does Zita west do? IVF? where is she based? I live in Yorkshire. xx

lucygrif · 12/05/2009 15:00

It's annoying too, because my acupuncturist has only done one fertility point on one occasion, she says she can only do it at certain times in my cycle - is this your experience as well?

amelied · 12/05/2009 15:14

Zita West is based in London. I think she has a whole holistic approach and also there is IVF as well. She has a shop on her website that sells pre-natal vitamins - a few girls here have had good results with them.

www.zitawest.com

My acupuncturist does alot of fertility points with me on my arms and lower leg/ankles. After day 14 is over she doesnt put as many needles around my stomach area.

Looked up the website where I got my acupuncturist on:

www.acupuncture-fertility.org/membership.htm#Yorkshire

Does that help?

lucygrif · 12/05/2009 16:07

brill thanks i will have a look xx

lucygrif · 12/05/2009 16:12

ARGH my acupuncturist is already on there, but she doesn't put that many needles in me, usually one in each wrist, a couple in my ankles and a couple in the knee area - as i said she has only ever put one needle in my stomach on one occasion. She seems more interested in balancing my body than the fertility issue....

amelied · 12/05/2009 16:23

That sounds about right - mine likes to work on you for three months to balance as well but as I just turned 40 she knows that im not going to stop ttc - no time, that clock is clanging!!!
