Morning girls!

Well, I'm in the middle of symptom-spotting extravaganza! Sometimes I'm sure there must be something going on, other times I'm sure it's not. Argh! And this will go on for how many months??!!

This morning I'm feeling like I'm about to get my period, but it's a bit early for that, and a bit late for ov, so I really have no idea.

Thanks for the update trying4! So when are you all planning on testing? I can't believe how soon we are all coming up for it! I'm thinking CD30 if I haven't come on by then...

And, yes, claireinthecom where are you?

kkas · 17/08/2009 11:11

Can I please join your thread?

Am just starting this whole process of TTC. Went off the pill about a week ago and am in the middle of a withdrawal bleed. At first we thought we'd wait to let my cycle settle down. But I am just too broody so we are just gonna go for it and see what happens.

My stats are as follows (I think!)

kkas TTC#1 UCL? CD5

Sevans TTC#1 UCL? CD53

Updated list. Welcome kkas

Ozziegirly · 17/08/2009 12:46

To be fair CurlyCasper I can't really complain, most stuff is really good over here, but maternity provision is one of those things where Oz falls waaaaay down.

Good luck with the symptom spotting everyone!

THe only symptom I"ve had is a kind of twingy feeling now and then. A kind of slight periody pain feeling, but not all the time, and I think I may be imagining it!

ImmaterialGirl · 17/08/2009 12:54

Welcome kkas! The time coming off your period is sooo frustrating, not knowing how long it will take for things to normalise themselves, when your period is due, when to test, etc. Hope you get lucky straight away!! How long were you on the pill for?

ozzie I've had period-like symptoms for a few days as well, but always unsure whether they're in my head or 'real'... Getting a few spots though, which are definitely real
Wonder what it all means...

And yes, good luck to everyone!!

sky27 · 17/08/2009 13:26

Just got the results of my rubella resistance test...I've got antibodies No waiting!!!!

Dancing around sprinkling babydust everwhere

ImmaterialGirl · 17/08/2009 13:36

kkas · 17/08/2009 14:45

Thanks for adding me to the list Sky Immaterial I have been on the pill for about 7 years, so it could well take a while to sort itself out. But I am hoping I'm one of the lucky ones in this "extra fertile" month.

Looking forward to sharing the ups and downs with you guys!

sevans · 17/08/2009 14:52

Hi everyone! I'm still here! Just been a little busy the last couple of days. Still no sign on AF for me. I did a test a week ago and got a bfn. This is my first month off the pill and I never expected AF to take this long! Wow, CD53.

Good luck to everyone and welcome to all the newcomers!

ImmaterialGirl · 17/08/2009 15:01

kkas fingers crossed for you! It's an obsessive road you're going down tough
I've found this site to be a huge help -if not I would have driven DP mad by now by all my speculation and symptom spotting craziness. Most of the advice here seems to be to not discuss every detail with him, to avoid things getting too clinical. Bit unfair though -I do all the charting and worrying and obsessing, and he just gets the shagging (well, I guess that one is shared...).

fulham shame about the bfn but it is still early days... Give it a few more days and if no AF then try again? It's not over til it's over!

sevans glad you're still here! Sorry AF has gone AWOL although I suppose that means you could still get lucky any time...

sky27 · 17/08/2009 20:30

fulham The first response aren't supposed to be that great early...look at the percentages. Try it the day after your period was due or 14 DPO for best results

Hope everyone is well

aly323 · 18/08/2009 01:52

Hello ladies. Just wanted to check in. AF arrived right smack on time. I'm amazingly regular considering I just recently got off the pill. Looks like I'm now cycle2 cd1 and ready to get to work. I'm loaded up on OPK's, vitamins and positive thoughts.

I tried to stay realistic about this whole process, but still took AF harder than I would have liked. This is difficult stuff- and I know I'm still early on. Where I work, I'm constantly around teenage moms and loads of unfit parents. They don't even try, but it happens for them again and again. It sure can get frustrating.

Speaking of maternity benefits, I'm in the US. My job will give me 70% for six weeks. That's better than most. I'm lucky to get anything.

Wishing everyone lots of luck!

CurlyCasper · 18/08/2009 08:36

Morning,

Sorry to all hit by BFNs and AFs - and to those still waiting for AF!

Sevans I remember my periods being every two months when I was a young teenager, and while it's not what you want when trying to conceive, it is blissful to not have the hassle of AF IYSWIM. Hope she turns up soon though

I went from 34 days in first cycle off to 29 in last. And while my first proper non-pill AF was short but horrendous, I have just finished the most hassle-free one I can ever remember having. But I wonder if that might not be a good thing in terms of fertiility?!

Going to have a go at OPKs this month. Perhaps around day 12 (?)

Aly Looks like we're not cycle buddies anymore with you being regular and me not! I know what you mean about the teenage mums.

Annoying that so many people get PG when not trying but those who are sometimes struggle for years. But, then again, we are supposed to be most fertile in our teens, when the majority of us are doing everything we can to not get PG! I'm 30 and been on pill for 13 years, so trying to be realistic, if a little hopeful!
x

ImmaterialGirl · 18/08/2009 09:18

aly I'm really sorry your AF arrived I guess it's good to know that you are regular at least...

I'm also trying to stay realistic, although with all the symptom spotting it's difficult not to let yourself get carried away. But all statistics of course point to me starting cycle two next week.

sky27 · 18/08/2009 10:45

2ww for me. I WILL NOT be obsessive...much

kkas · 18/08/2009 10:54

Immaterial I know what you mean about not getting too detailed with the DH. Guess we better just focus on making sure they enjoy all the BD! So far he seems all for it (last night said - so we can try again tomorrow!) Hold on... haven't even got to the best fertile window yet and I'm already starting to get a bit sore! Although I guess it doesn't hurt if he's up for it given I have no idea when I will ov (if I even will) this cycle!

Anyway, I haven't started the BBT yet, am going to wait until my first proper cycle to do that, so now just knicker spotting and hoping that this weekend something will start happening.

Also - I was mad at myself last night cuz I told my sis that I came off the pill. I had wanted to keep it a secret, but then it just sorta popped out. Didn't go into too many details and will try to keep it that way from now on. She has a 1 year old though and it is being around her baby that has made me so broody anyway, so I suppose that is what made me say it?

CJ2007 · 18/08/2009 11:29

Hey there,
im new to this but hoping having somewhere to vent my feelings will be helpful whilst TTC. We haven't used any form of contraception now for 2 years and still AF continues to arrive like clockwork!!
Currently TTC1, UCL26, CD21
Hoping despertaely that a few well timed BD's will be successful for me and DH this motnh. feeling frustrated as BBT and OPK didn't highlight any surge so BDing timed only by counting days and CM...

Have taken the advice of fellow posters regarding not over sharing with DH details as I agree it all may be a bit much for him!!

ImmaterialGirl · 18/08/2009 13:45

sky nah, none of us here are obsessive at all!

kkas I haven't temped or used opk's at all this cycle, but will next time, unless I get lucky of course. It's quite frustrating not knowing when you ov, ended up shagging pretty much every day between CD10 and CD20. Not that I'm (or DP) complaining too much! But it will actually be easier to know exactly when it's the real deal, and then just do it for fun for the remaining time. Of course, I'm sure I'll find that opk's and BBT brings their own obsessions and issues with them...

Oh, and I've been sooo tempted to tell people. Managed to keep shtum up until now, but not sure how long that will last.

CJ welcome! Glad AF is regular, but sorry it's taking so long! Have you been actively trying the whole time, or just 'seeing what happens'? Without wanting to sound alarmist, have you spoken to your GP about it? I think they'll talk to you if you've been trying for one year without success...

I've added you to our little list of first-timers, and yes, this is indeed a good place to vent.

Thanks Immaterial for the welcome.

I think it's fair to say that we haven't been activley trying and i'll be honest in saying that i've been poorly educated regarding my own body and all it's timings until recently! Not only that I think we all expect that after we stop contraception having a baby will magically happen after all that's what we're told during our teenage years!

We've probably been actively trying for about 6 months now wih me getting completely obsessive about it for the past 3!!
I am hoping now with a little education we can make some progress...

Found the post on here about OPK tests really helpful and will prob look at testing more that once a day should AF arrive as expected...

Good luck to everyone

sevans · 18/08/2009 14:51

kkas - I didn't want to tell anyone that I came off the pill and TTC but managed to tell a few friends and my family. So much for keeping my mouth shut! It's just hard to keep something so exciting to yourself!

sky27 · 18/08/2009 17:21

IM and sevans I know what you mean, so far I've told my mum and 3 friends. Which is OK apart from one friend who's being really down about it and keeps telling me I won't get pregnant if I obsess about it.

claireinthecommunity · 18/08/2009 20:36

Hello everyone,

I've not been feeling too well over the last couple of weeks and haven't really felt like posting, but I'm starting to feel much better now.

DH and I managed to get a few days away last week which was very much needed. Even though I've been under the weather we were still able to BD around my fertile time so I feel there is still a chance this month, may even get a couple more in just to make sure

So much to catch up with, welcome to all the newbies and I see we have a list, I'll pop myself on it.
