KayStar Welcome here as well!
We'll be testing around the same time I think, as I'm going to assume I have a fairly long cycle to avoid disappointment. That's unless AF shows up of course...

CurlyCasper that you're stuck WTT, but glad you're with us!

I guess as lots of us are heading for the second half of the cycle we'll see some symptom-spotting galore over the next weeks! Look forward to it

Oh, and I'm on Cycle 1

fulhamgirl · 12/08/2009 10:03

Morning guys another day!!

Welcome Kaystar and trying4ababy and anyone else thats new.

It so nice we are going through this stage together and are we sharing stories and experiences together!!

Curlycasper- Your not on your own hun we are all here for you!! Even if we some of us concieve before others im sure we will all keep comming back on here for everyone still TTC and give support. Im keeping my fingers crossed for u.

Sky27- I took 3 ovulation tests on cd 13,14 and all came back negative. But just carried on bd lol!! Fun times!!

Im confused any way as to when im due on as ive just come off of the pill after 6 years so they are all over the place!!cant believe in on cd 20 now though!!

I have bad pains in my tummy last few days like bad period pains very weired I just wonder if I might have a urine infection as I keep needing to go to the toliet as well!! Im really hoping it dosent muck up my chances of falling pregnant!!

Hey guys as well ive just found out what our materniy pay is here and it sooo bad that if I havent fallen pregnant this month we may have to put TTC on hold until I find a new job!!

We only get 90% of our wage for the first 8 weeks and then for the other 4 months all get get is £117 a week me and my OH would never be able to survive on that. So had bad news this morning !!

Still good luck to you all and looking forward to the second part of our journeys together now!!

xxxxxxx

ImmaterialGirl · 12/08/2009 11:54

sky crossing fingers for you over on the May bus and here as well! xxx

fulhamgirl that's absolutely crazy -how do they expect anyone to survive on that kind of money. It really annoys me, the media is full of government advice not to delay having babies, but at the same time, they're not doing anything to make it easier. Aargh! I could rant about this for a long time...

I hope it works out for you though! I think once you've started on the TTC wagon it's difficult to stop

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Trying4Baby1 · 12/08/2009 22:22

fulhamgirl I'd check out the details of maternity leave if I were you I thought that legally you were now entitled to longer than that at 90% salary. Might be wrong though. Check out the govenment websites as they'll have all the up to date details.

CurlyCasper · 12/08/2009 22:24

Hi all - thank for the encouragement. Looks like I'll be joining you sooner rather than later - my TTC date has been returned to late sept/early October - so happy!

Turns out I am immune to rubella and was called back for almost no reason because the stupid nurse failed to note that my liver function test results are always wonky because of the meds I was on. Get to the doctor and say 'i'm here about my rubella' and get this blank look as if to say "and...?"

Very happy about the result (and not having to wait an extra month) but very peeved with the surgery. This is the second time I've been called back for no reason

anyway, hope you are all well. I'm at CD 28 and pretty much on track for another 34 day cycle - I think!

aly you asked if it's been difficult off my meds. Wel,, it's not stopped my doing usual stuff yet, but I am getting tired more easily and waking up/going to bed in pain. Nothing a bit of movement doesn't fix. Rheumatoid Arthritis is a bit of an up and down condition anyway - I sometimes feel like this while fully drugged up so, all things considered, i', doing ok. Dreading stopping the ibuprofen though, when we are actually TTC. Thanks for asking x

fulhamgirl · 13/08/2009 11:27

Hiya CurlyCasper!!

Thats really good news hun!! Fingers crossed for you now!!

Trying- Thank you for that advice I will look that up!! I was just soooo shocked at that its the lowest of the low!! We oculdnt survive on that!!

My UCL im really unsure to be honest as ive only just come off of my pill so my CL is all over the place last few months!! But this month has been the first month that we are TTC!!!

I think im past my ovualtion time now so im keeping all fingers crossed!!

Ozziegirly · 13/08/2009 12:00

Curley that is fantastic news, really pleased.

And fulhamgirl - I feel your pain. Over here in Oz we have NO maternity provision at ALL. Not a cent.

I do feel very lucky and fortunate that my DH has a well paid job, and so do I so we will be able to save, but I have no idea how people manage who are on lower incomes.

It means I will have to go back to work though probably at less than a year which I would prefer not to do (although I would go back at some point).

They are bringing in some maternity pay from January 2011 but even then it is, frankly, a pittance.

CurlyCasper · 14/08/2009 08:00

Thanks ozzie and fulham

Well, AF arrived today, earlier than expected, which means some alternative analysis of my temps/CM chart. Last five days of cycle were about the same temp, so that's better than the erratic three weeks previous.

I'm now on my last full cycle before TTC! (cycle minus 1, I'm calling it) Meds wait finishes end of Sep, so then the unprotected BDing begins, regardless of what my cycle is doing!

CurlyCasper · 14/08/2009 08:17

ozzie No maternity provision? Does that mean fewer people have kids? How do they manage?

In the UK the situtation is, if you've worked somewhere for more than a year, generally:
Employers must pay 90 per cent of your wages for six weeks, then you get flat rate Statutory Maternity Pay (currently £123.06 a week) for the following 33 weeks. Anything above this is at the employer's discretion.
see this link

Thankfully, after my six weeks at 90 per cent I get 12 weeks at half pay plus SMP before dropping to SMP only. Still doesn't mean I'll be able to take a full year off, being the main breadwinner in our household

Any news from anyone? Sevans? And I guess you'll be testing soon aly? Wishing everyone the best of luck!

sky27 · 14/08/2009 13:35

Hi all, Haven't had a computer so just catching up!

Day 17 and still no+OPKs

Hope everyone's well

ImmaterialGirl · 14/08/2009 14:04

sky sorry you're stressing out.

The POAS website has this to say about negative opk's in their faq's:

Q: "I never get a positive OPK. Does this mean I'm not ovulating?"
A: "No, not necessarily. It can depend on how often you test. Most OPK's say to test once a day, around the same time each day. However, it is possible for your LH to surge and dissipate in less time than that, so testing only once daily may result in missing the surge. Here is an example of my OPK's for one cycle: On Day 14 of my cycle, I tested at 11:30 p.m. The test was negative (the result line is fairly dark, but not as dark as the test line.)

On Day 15, I tested at 10:00 a.m., only 10.5 hours after my previous test. By this time, the test was positive, and my LH surge had been detected.

Again that same day, I tested at 4:30 p.m, only 17 hours after the previous day's negative test. This test was positive; I was still surging.

And once again that day, I tested, this time at 8:00 p.m. The test was now negative, indicating my LH surge had ended-- and this was still only 20.5 hours after the previous day's test. Therefore, my entire surge lasted less than 24 hours. If I had not taken the additional tests, but followed the instruction to test "every day around the same time," I would have taken a test later that night and missed my surge altogether.

So, if you are unable to detect your LH surge, try testing twice a day! It is possible that you are not ovulating, of course, but this is not a conclusion you should draw based only on a lack of positive OPK's. If you still have concerns, talk to your doctor.

Incidentally, the length of your LH surge may vary from cycle to cycle. If you visit the OPK Odyssey, you can see pictures of my OPK's from several cycles prior to the one above-- in that case, my surge lasted longer than 24 hours, and I had positive OPK's for two days.

As a footnote, some ovulating women simply just don't get positive OPK's, like some pregnant women don't get positive HPT's (though both scenarios are rare.) The mysteries of the female body! :-)"

Maybe that helps?

fulhamgirl · 14/08/2009 14:37

Heya Sky hun!!

I read the same as well!! Mine kept given me a negative so I threw them stressed me out!!

Its such a horrible thing to go through I know but u might feel alot more relaxed if u didnt test for a few months!!

Thats what I had to as it was driving me mental and now I have all the pains and symtoms as im comming on!! Its horrible feel like crying!!

What Imma said to you is sooooo right as well!!

My cousin went through the same thing she got a negative all through her month she tested every day at the same time after cd9 and guess what she stressed out and then guess what 3 weeks later she found out she was pregnant how mad is that!!

xxxxxxxxxxx

sky27 · 14/08/2009 16:35

Thank you both so much, I've missed the support while the computer has been down. Sometimes you just need at little reassurance.

I was testing twice a day but too close together so i'm going to space them out. It's my first month testing and I just wanted to find my luteal phase. hey ho!

aly323 · 15/08/2009 02:28

CurlyCasper, I'm so glad to hear you get to start TTC sooner rather than later! I'm sure it has to be incredibly difficult to wait after you make up your mind. It's good that you've taken so well to being off the medications during the wait. I really hope it takes fast for you!

I'm holding out as long as possible for testing... maybe Sunday. Yesterday was a tough day. I got really down (and really, really irritable) since I really hadn't had any strong symptoms. I've noticed little things here and there, but it might just be that I'm hypersensitive. However, I'm now having either implantation pains or will start AF very soon.

Last night, I woke up in the middle of the night with some sharp pains and thought "this is different." It only lasted for about 10-20 minutes. Today, I've had the same on and off, but not as intense. I also had a tiny, tiny bit of pink earlier. I keep looking, but there hasn't been more.

I'm thinking my moodiness yesterday may have also been part of the whole thing. Question is, is the just AF coming on... or something better. Fingers crossed.

sky27 · 15/08/2009 13:55

Aly Fingers crossed for you, hope it is implantation

ImmaterialGirl and Fulhamgirl Thanks for the advice, I felt better for having talked about it. I then changed the timings of my OPKs. So I did one at 10pm last night and to my surprise it was almost the same as the test line Then this morning did another and it was stronger still. So I'm waiting to test again at 3pm fingers crossed

So, if I get pg this month it's with the help of you two as I was really tierd and pi**ed off last night and although we've been bd every other night I nearly didn't last night.

Dancing around sprinkling baby dust

ImmaterialGirl · 15/08/2009 15:06

Yay!!!

That is really brilliant news! Good thing that you've been bd'ing anyway, and I'm sure the DH won't mind another day or two before being allowed a rest

and aly really hope it's implantation!

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone.

Ozziegirly · 16/08/2009 07:11

CurleyCasper, I have no idea as to how people manage to be honest. I think there are various tax breaks and things for people on maternity leave, but I don't know how women who have high incomes cope, or those on single incomes, it's a total mystery.

Apparently Australia has the worst maternity provision in the world or something!

The weird thing is they are encouraging us to have more children (to stop us being overrun by immigrants ;-) ) (I can say this because I am an immigrant here).

Good luck to everyone else as well - I don't have a single symptom this month again, so I can't believe I am PG. It's still early days, but I feel totally normal.

Anyone heard from clareinthecommunity recently?

Well, according to my calendar on Fertility Friend my temps suggest that I ovulated on Friday, so now just crossing my fingers and hoping that we have done enough BDing for it to work - first month so trying not to get too excited

Now just the tww to get through, which might be hard since I am very impatient and as I've already been analysing each and every little sign all weekend long

Good luck everybody!

Morning all,

Been off here for a few days, so just a quick catch up. Thanks to all for the 'great news' wishes, all the best to those on the TWW, and happying BD'ing to everyone!

ozzie really shocked about the OZ maternity pay thing, as we're always hearing how everything is so much better over there!

As ozzie said, claire are you still with us?

have a good day x
