CurlyCasper thanks
I actually only moved to Scotland as a teenager, born and lived in Norway before that, but did a little searching around and seems as if the situation is the same for both of us -we would have been immunised first at 15 months and then again at age 12.

It's likely that the vaccine sticks for life, but if the body never developed anti-rubella-stuff (highly scientific term there...) then it could be a problem, so I guess it really is worth finding out.

CurlyCasper · 05/08/2009 20:11

thanks immaterial, guess I'll just have to see what the doc says on the 12th! Sorry for making assumptions - So jealous of you being in my fave city. Lived there for 4 years while studying and realy miss it at times.

Ozziegirly · 05/08/2009 23:58

Hi immaterial and casper - when I had my blood tests, the only things I was immune to were the things I had actually been vaccinated against (rubella basically), so I think it does "stick" as I had mine back when I was about 12 and I am 31 now.

And it's not like you have to have the vaccination, but if you know you're not immune at least you can avoid anyone with german measles.

I am a scardy cat though and would probably have wanted the vaccination anyway. Plus it made sense for me as I wasn't immune to chicken pox, mumps or measles.

I actually think I may have ovulated last night. I have been kind of watching out and keeping a vague record of things, and my temp went up a bit (like last month) and I had a vague periody like pain for a while.

Typically DH is in Sydney til the end of the week, but it would match similar symptoms from last month, so at least in the future I will be able to pinpoint things a bit more carefully.

It's only CD8 though so I may be imagining things!

ImmaterialGirl · 06/08/2009 13:20

Afternoon all,

CurlyCasper Edinburgh is pretty great, definitely! Been here six years and love it. But if you miss it too much, just remember what the weather is like most of the time and you'll feel better

Ozzie I keep thinking I've ovulated as well! On CD12 today so perhaps possible? How long have you been TTC? I'm only on my first cycle of 'proper' trying, but in the past two months since off the pill I've been spotting for ovulation symptoms like mad I guess with time we'll all find out how things work for each of us.

fulhamgirl · 06/08/2009 14:06

Heya guys im on cd14 now!! I tried one of them clear blue ovulation tests 2 days agao and I got a blank face!! I missed the test yeaterday as I was out.
DO you think its worth me trying again today?

Is cd 14 normally the perfect time?

Hey Ozzie we are kinda around the same cycle be really intresting. How long have you guys been trying for if you dont mind me asking?

Ive been off my pill now since April but my periods are all over the place!!

xxxxxxxx

CurlyCasper · 06/08/2009 15:27

fulham assuming a 28 day cycle, day 14 would be the perfect time...(14 days before next period)

Thanks Immaterial I supposed I don't miss those icy, face-cutting winds! But I did love it being drier in the 'burgh than on the west coast, where I grew up. Down south now - where conditions are much better!

ozzie thanks for the info. Got to wait till the 12th to see exactly what the GP has to say about my rubella status...

Loving the sunshine today - shame I'm stuck in the office

sky27 · 06/08/2009 20:30

two more negative OPKs hopefully something tomorrow as it's when i'm due to ovulate. Haven't been symptom spotting this month as I've been doing the tests and although it is a pain PIAC twice a day it seems to take my mind off it the rest of the time.

Anyone want to do a stats list so we can think positive thoughts for the others coming up to testing?

Sky27 TTC#1 UCL 24? CD8

Ozziegirly · 07/08/2009 01:37

Hi there fulham and immaterial , I've been off the pill since the end of May, so am on 3rd cycle of trying. First couple of cycles I am not sure if I ovulated at all, but may have last month as I had similar symptoms (not much, just that middle pain really).

My periods went back to normal pretty much straight away, but I think I ovulate early after symptom spotting!

So hopefully this means that next month I can time things a bit better.

My stats are TTC#1, UCL 27, CD9.

Good luck to everyone with baby making over the weekend xx

aly323 · 07/08/2009 03:24

Hello everyone! I've been lurking here for awhile and just got brave enough to post. I'm hoping you don't mind if I hop onto the thread.

First off, I just want to say thank you all for the info here. I started this month knowing next to nothing and am now amazed at how much I've learned. I went off the pill in May, but this is our first month actually TTC. I'm 35 and DH is 36. Neither of us has ever been (or gotten anyone) pregnant, but neither of us has ever tried, either. It's such an exciting and nerve-wracking experience.

I used opk's this month and we did the best we could to hit the right times. Poor DH is worn out since I got a little too excited and started us off way too early. It turns out that I ovulate late in my cycle- cd20. That makes me 1dpo and nervously waiting. I figured this would be a good time to start making friends.

I had a pre-conception doctor's appointment today and was dismayed to find that the nurse-midwife didn't seem to have much to add to what I've gotten from you all. I also think she may have been a little overwhelmed by my enthusiasm.I had a lot of questions about my luteal phase and and cm. She didn't have many answers. I think I'll try another down the road, and try to calm down a little for now.

CurlyCasper · 07/08/2009 08:36

Hi aly and welcome!

Well, if fertility friend is right, aly and I may well be cycle buddies! I put my temperature and CM data in this morning and suddenly it all changed - quite exciting - lines appeared and FF tells me I ovulated on CD20 (so now three days past), which would be correct to repeat last month's CL of 34 days. So now I wait to see if AF arrives on/around the 18th...

But then, I am still only on my second cycle off the pill, so time will tell.

Stats:

WTT#1 (TTC OCT/NOV) UCL 34(?), CD23

fulhamgirl · 07/08/2009 08:40

Welcome aly and good luck hun!

Im new to this sight aswell and I posted because everyone in here seems so friendly and supportive.

I missed a period in May and thought I was pregnant then af hit with such force. The doctor thought I may of lost the baby but cant be proven. Me and my bf have left it 3 months just to be on the safe side.
We wasnt trying for a baby back then but because I thought there was a chance I could have been pregnant we were both upset when I found out I was wasent so we decided we were both ready to try this month.

My stats are ttc#1, IM 23 AND CD15.

Good luck to you all!! And thanks guys for making me feel so welcome!!

xxxxxxx

ImmaterialGirl · 07/08/2009 09:38

Hi aly! Welcome!
And good morning to everyone!

I know what you mean about being maybe a bit to enthusiastic I'm so glad I joined MN as I would have been driving DP mad otherwise. I seem to be unable to think of anything but TTC, which is a bit of a problem as I have a thesis to finish...

I came off the pill in May, have had one 'real' period since, and this is my first cycle of trying. Not using okp's or temping, but will probably start that next month. Thought I'd be patient and 'see what happens' but I just want to get on with it now that we've decided.

My stats are TTC#1 UCL no idea CD13

So lots of BD'ing at the moment

fulhamgirl · 07/08/2009 10:01

This is gonna sound a little bad and silly but what does UCL mean? Sorry guys.

Yep looks like there is alot of BD'ing atm lol!! Fun times!!

We are all really round the same cd time its really good!! One of us must have good news by the end of this month!!

I cant wait to be honest but I know it prob takes longer than a month to conceive!!

xxxxxxx

ImmaterialGirl · 07/08/2009 10:14

fulhamgirl UCL stands for 'usual cycle length'. I'm only on my first real cycle since coming off the pill, so don't really know as I never used to count days between periods when I was younger. Wish I had done that now.

The average cycle lasts 28 days and the average day of ovulation is day 14, but then looking at these boards, very few women are average

And I can't wait for us to get results in a few weeks! I'm so glad we seem to be around the same time!

xxxxx

fulhamgirl · 07/08/2009 10:23

Ty sooooo much for that!!

Same with me really I dunno either tnh with you!!

I was on the pill for 6 years so just really come off it in May so I have no idea either how long my UCL is!!

I took a clear blue ovulation test on cd13 and it came up with a blank face last two days though ive been to busy to take the test so not worth trying it again as im now on cd15!!

But still my bf hasent let me down in that department so if I have ovulated lol it does not really matter!!

Its so exciting though but im nervous at the same time!! Im such an impaitent person lol I just wanna know now!! !!

Ive got bad pains today though like im comming on really weired!!

xxxxxxxxx

CurlyCasper · 07/08/2009 11:10

fulham it may be worth testing at CD15 and beyond - a few of us had really long cycles just off the pill. My ovulation day looks like CD 20. But seeing as you're doing lots of BD'ing, it shouldn't be an issue and I hope you get a BFP in a fortnight or so.

CurlyCasper · 07/08/2009 11:11

ps fulham if you have period like pains today you could be ovulating - it's a sign for some people!

fulhamgirl · 07/08/2009 11:29

Oh really thank you for that its really helpful!!

Ive never looked into any of this kinda stuff before so you guys are really helping me thank you!!

You know this first responce that can tell you if your pregnant 6 days before your missed period do you think its worth it?

xxxxxxxxxx

CurlyCasper · 07/08/2009 12:00

no idea I'm afraid - not got to the PG testing stage yet!

Perhaps some of the others one her - or MNers on other threads, like this one where there are mums trying for second, third, and more children, will be able to help?

fulhamgirl · 07/08/2009 14:08

Oh thats ok hun thanks n e way!!

I was just wondering if tests could pick up that early!! I wouldnt get it, its just me and my friends were talking about it and thought it might be a waste of time!!

Thank you though!!

I cant wait to see everyones results!!

Yay! It's good having first-timer friends

fulhamgirl I've heard that first response can be wildly inaccurate, and often just make you feel more stressed. I don't know though, only ever tested once, last month before I got my first real period after going off pill. It was BFN of course -I just got impatient waiting for AF.

Sevans CD43? I assume you have tested? How long were you on the pill for? It's so frustrating being just off and having no clue isn't it? Obviously I hope you get a first-time-lucky, but at least once AF has been visiting you can assume that your system is getting back to normal and reasonably normal cycles should ensue.

Fingers crossed for everyone!
