Over the last two days I have:

  1. Sobbed at the death of Harry Patch, a 111 year old total stranger.
  1. Sobbed at photos of my best friend's baby.
  1. Started an argument with my DH as he suggested having fruit after dinner instead of biscuits.
  1. Eaten cake for breakfast.
  1. Gone into the world's biggest sulk because DH suggested going out for dinner instead of me cooking (I mean - how unreasonable !)

I suppose this is PMT. I have never had it before.

I feel like my emotions are totally outside of my control even though at calm moments I can think "come on, be normal".

My poor DH. He is currently out playing golf and I intend to be really nice to him when he comes back, but I imagine I will instead cry because he has brought home the "wrong" bread.

Calyx - Ohh, a wedding is approaching! Best of luck these last few weeks before the big day! Still no AF for me. I went ahead and did a test Saturday and got a BFN. I wasn't expecting it to be postive as I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms. Back to my irregular cycles, I suppose! This is just going to make TTC even more difficult.

DawnAS · 26/07/2009 21:49

Hey ladies,

I just wanted to pop on and say hello.

To all the newbies, I started this original thread (the one before this one) over a year ago and can't believe it's still going!!

It's been a really lucky thread and we've already had four babies!! My little Ellie is now 7 weeks old (well, will be at 01:31 tomorrow morning - so just a few hours to go!) and there are some new pics of her first cheeky smiles on my profile. She still has a problem with her left eyelid and may need to have an op to correct it, but other than that, she's great. Even sleeps through the night already!!

So, to all you newbies, I am sending lots of babydust to you all and wishing you the best of luck. As I said, it is a lucky thread and I hope that the luck continues for you all. I was lucky to get PG in the first month (after being off of the pill for 2 months - after 16 years of being on it!!), although did suffer a MC with that PG. But then 6 weeks later, I was PG again and Ellie is the result. I know that at 34 I was really really lucky and it's quite unusual to fall that quickly, but hopefully you will all get PG soon.

Calyx, good luck for your wedding sweetheart - enjoy the day and remember to stop every couple of hours and just take in everything around you, otherwise the whole day will pass in a blur!!

Good luck ladies and I will be watching keenly for any progress!!

xxx

CurlyCasper · 27/07/2009 09:04

So much to catch up with this Monday morning - but no time! So, welcome to the new ladies, thanks to Dawn for the kind words and encouragement, sympathy to PMT ozzie, and blissful wedding wishes to Calyx!

Temping isn't easy when you go camping - so that's another few blanks in my chart. Beer festival was fun though! x

will try to catch up properly later

claireinthecommunity · 27/07/2009 12:18

Quick hello from me, I've only just got back online after the transmitter was hit by lightening over a week ago Busy day ahead so will catch up with everyones posts tonight

sky27 · 27/07/2009 20:21

Hello all, I'm TTC for the first time scary and exciting. I came off the pill last month and af came 6 days later. I'm currently CD22. Any advice welcomed.

I am having loads off symptoms but not sure if these are due to stopping bc. My boobs have been soooo sore and have grown 3 1/2 inches in the last week along with other things like back ache, tummy ache etc.

Good luck everyone

claireinthecommunity · 27/07/2009 21:56

Hello and welcome to all the newbies , this is only my second month of ttc so quite new to it myself.

Currently on cd25 of a 29 day cycle trying not to symptom spot too much, last month was a 'symptom'o'thon' with a bfn at the end, so don't want to build my hopes up this month. If af doesn't show her face before I will be testing over the weekend probably Sunday morning.

DawnAs little Ellie is a cutie. Thanks for popping back on, It's encouraging to know you conceived her at 34, I'm 33 now and hoping it won't take too long because of it. Great to hear from others who have been through it all.

Calyx how exciting having a wedding on the thread and only 3 weeks to go!, hope all the last minute preparations are going well.

Ozziegirly did DH bring the 'right' bread home?

beginnings · 27/07/2009 22:26

Hello ladies,

This is my very first Mumsnet post! I got married in May and we've been TTC since. I came off the pill in February and don't think that I've ovulated since. I used to know and have no signs now. Going to the doctor on Thursday for a CD21 test to know whether or not I'm right! And then we'll take it from there. Currently going through the stage where I'm seeing pregnant women every time I turn around.

I've had a period every month since coming off the pill but my cycle has decreased gradually from 29 to 24 days. Has anyone else experienced this?

Taking lots of hope from others here that have been successful!

Ozziegirly · 28/07/2009 00:44

Hi beginnings. I've been off since May, and my cycle was 30 the first month, then 27. I'm currently awaiting AF.

I don't know if I'm ovulating either so have started temping - which has so far not really helped as it's been all over the place. I'm starting to do this properly from CD1 to try to get some kind of pattern.

Claire - as if to preempt me, he brought home two types of bread....and two packets of Tim Tams - my favourite biscuits.....I felt better on Sunday afternoon after a walk and sighting about 5 koalas!

monkeybars · 28/07/2009 13:49

I am a newbie to TTC, MN and all the other mad acronyms you guys use!!! Am learning though!

I had my last pill (having got married, then enjoyed the honeymoon and all the cocktails I could get down my neck ) on 9 July.

So, now we just wait and see I guess. Totally empathise with claireinthecommnuity and the 'sympton-o-thon' mindset. My boobs really hurt yesterday and today and I feel bloated as anything - but probably PMT?!

I wanted to sk - on the Clear Blue tests is it possible to have a faint line that still indicates a positive?

Fingers crossed for everyone (at least trying is so much fun!!

xx

claireinthecommunity · 28/07/2009 15:25

Welcome to beginings and monkeybars, two newlyweds! congratulations to you both

beginings I've not heard of a cd21 test before, what will the Dr need to do? I also seem to be surrounded by pregnant women and babies wherever I go! My first period after stopping the pill was 29 days long, currently on cd26 of this period (second after stopping the pill), will be interesting to see how long this one lasts.

Ozziegirly your DH sounds very well trained! I've heard of Tim Tams but never tried them, what are they like? I was quite snappy at my DH earlier, which has left me a little down beat as I'm sure It signals PMT and therefore AFs imminent arrival.

monkeybars I've never used a Clear Blue test so can't really answer your question, but being optimistic about it 'a line is a line'! How quickly did the line appear?, I do know that you can sometimes see an evaporation line after the time limit and that that line is not a sign of being pregnant, HTH. If you are unsure of any of the acronyms we use on here just ask, we won't laugh at you, we've all been newbies at some point!

claireinthecommunity · 28/07/2009 15:33

Oh dear, I made that sound as though beginings and monkeybars are married to each other!

CurlyCasper · 28/07/2009 17:05

babies are everywhere! You should see my Facebook, a new wrinkly little darling every day. Time we caught up I think!

claire welcome back! bet the weekend can't come soon enough.

and welcome to beginnings and monkeybars. Wish I'd been able to go for it straight after wedding! Been over two years now and many of the aforementioned babies are the product of weddings last summer.

Time to head home and walk the mutt x

claireinthecommunity · 28/07/2009 20:35

Thanks Curly good to be back!

beginnings · 28/07/2009 22:18

Thanks for the welcomes ladies

Ozziegirly - Good to hear that someone else is having funny cycles - I know it'll take some time to level out, just interested to see how close together they get! I also briefly tried the temp thing but was also all over the place. My doctor also told me that for me it would not work anyway as I tend not to have a fully settled night's sleep anyway and you really do need to be lying still for a good number of hours for it to be accurate.

claireinthecommunity - I'm no expert on the science but I understand that the doctor can tell from a blood test whether or not I've ovulated this month and that it's best if that test is done on CD21. In my case it'll actually be CD20 (as that's when I can get an appointment!!) but given the length of my cycle, they say that's ok. There's probably a proper name for the test but that's what my doctor called it. The results will only take a day or so. If I've not ovulated, we'll start having conversations about how to get me ovulating!!

Monkeybars - nice to be on here with someone else just starting out! Hope you had a great wedding - we had such a fab day.

beginnings · 28/07/2009 22:20

claireinthecommunity I didn't read it like that at all!! And thankfully, I don't think DH knows Mumsnet exists yet - happy to keep it that way for the moment!!

claireinthecommunity · 28/07/2009 22:46

beginings It's amazing what can be found through a blood test isn't it! All the best to you for Thursday (well the day you find out the result), hope you get the result you're after

Curly one minute I'm debating (in my own head) testing earlier, say Friday morning, then I get really nervous about testing at all and think I should wait until after the weekend!!

sky27 · 29/07/2009 00:52

Thank you all and thanks mumsnet. I think if I had to go through all this on my own I'd go nuts. I just realised how much calmer I have been this last week realising others are going through this as well!

Good luck everyone!

CurlyCasper · 29/07/2009 06:44

claire as hard as it is, just wait. If there s a BFP, it will still be there, and you don't want to do the stress of an early false result!

Begin and ozzie, yup temps still all over the shop, and I rarely sleep right through (bloody bladder!) so more attention to CM methinks... Hope the test goes ok beg sky think we'd all go nuts having to keep our mouths shut in RL!

Been recalled to the GP after having a rubella blood test, so guess that's ajab for me! oh, the joys, and I have the dentist today too after a piece of tooth fell out

x

claireinthecommunity · 29/07/2009 17:24

I know you're absolutely right Curly, It's just so tempting to test! Will try and hold out until AF is definitely late. Difficult to know for sure though as this will only be my second period since coming off the pill and AF may not have settled down yet. Last months was 29 days long so I shall wait until at least CD30 to test.

I'm still following my CM/EWCM and it all seems to be doing what it should when it should, so hopefully everything is working in there!!

Ditto sky, mumsnet has certainly saved my DH from my TTC madness at times, well apart from the obvious

Ozziegirly · 30/07/2009 03:38

Right. Am CD1. This was to be expected as DH was away on the most likely conception dates this month.

So fingers crossed for this month. Been off the pill 3 months now so it should all be gone from my system. I've also been taking agnus castus which apparently is good if you've been on the pill for ages.

claire good luck over the next few days - will keep everything crossed for you.

Ozziegirly · 30/07/2009 03:40

Oh and tim tams - think supersized, super delicious Penguins!

CurlyCasper · 30/07/2009 09:18

ozzie Could probably work this out from your posts, but how long was your last cycle in the end? I ask because my first post pill was 33/34 days, now on my second cycle and hoping they will get a bit shorter (and regular).

Good luck for this month - v jealous!

I'm now on CD15 of cycle TTC-2 (then its TTC -1 and then we're off!) and I think the EWCM is starting. So tempting just to jump on DH, but I haven't been off my meds long enough

Found out last night that SIL is still trying (thought she'd be PG). So there could be a baby race in the family...

x

Ozziegirly · 30/07/2009 09:52

My last one and now this one were both 27 days - so I guess that's now my cycle length.

CurlyCasper · 30/07/2009 10:42

thanks ozzie glad it seems to have evened out for you!
