Back again! (Am just addicted to MN)

MAF the boys will be the best 'uncles' in the world, of course it would have been lovely to have them as daddies but as you found out it could have caused years of heartache (with all the best intentions). I think you did the right thing and it has preserved your friendship. This is just a thought as it is something we have had to think about. It is none of my business but have you and DW thought about 'legal guardianship' should (god forbid) the worst happen to you both? DH and I have appointed my sister, it was a really hard conversation to have but she was so touched. Maybe you could appoint the boys? If you think about it, it is a similar scenario to appointing godparents. Again - none of my business but it wasnt until someone at work mentioned it to me that i realised we needed to think about it.

Right i had better go now before i get even more morbid/deep/way too meaningful!

Right i am definitely leaving you TTCers and Frolickers to it!

Summer, just in case you log in (again) before tomorrow, I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK for tomorrow's sweep, although I hope that the waterfall comes on tonight!

MAF your trips out to Borough Market and Canary Wharf sound like the perfect weekend. And as Summer said, the boys will be wonderful uncles to the MAF baby.

I've had a lovely weekend too, the open gardens this afternoon was wonderful and some kind lady gave me a whole load of seeds and cuttings of plants that I was admiring, and said to come back later in the summer as she was going to be dividing some plants and would give me the left overs. Result!

DH spent the afternoon tagging along but lusting after all the beautiful houses, on the way home he started muttering about moving until I reminded him that the amazing houses are completely out of our price bracket for now! Still I suppose he can dream. One day hey!

I also got talking to an artist lady and mentioned that I was thinking about going to the beginners pilates class at our village hall and she said to come along to her class this week to try it out. I may just do that - am getting really bored now that exams are over and it's been less than a week so god knows what I'll be like after a month or so.

Anyhow, off to watch seven pounds on DVD.

Good luck again Summer, I'm looking forward to hearing about baby Summerbean very soon.

summerbird · 14/06/2009 21:43

Still here!! But def going to bed now.

Ooo it isnt a 'sweep' it is full on induction which is either gel or pessary and then if that dont work they will break my waters

can i not just wake up one day and have a cute little summerbean in the moses basket? no? ok then!

right - good night

Well, DH is back from the doctor this morning (did I tell you he was going? can't remember).

The doc wasn't very helpful at first and said we had to be trying for at least 12 months before they'd even think about tests. But I'm so proud of my lovely husband, he stuck to his guns and explained that I've been charting and that we've not been using a scattergun approach (as the doc first intimated) and that because he had a tortion on his testicle when he was younger we want to know for sure that his fertility hasn't been affected. So...the doc finally agreed that he could do a sperm test if we wanted and DH came home with a little brown box with a white label on it in very big black lettering saying 'SEMINAL FLUID OUTFIT'. Woohoo.

We've decided that we're going to have a really good go this month and if it doesn't work then he'll do the test. Bless him, he doesn't want me to have to have all the invasive tests if I don't have to.

JasHook · 15/06/2009 10:15

summerbird "can i not just wake up one day and have a cute little summerbean in the moses basket? no? ok then!"

...I have lost count of the times I wished it was that simple!! (and not labour-intensive...agggh, bad, bad pun)

eth37 · 15/06/2009 17:47

Summerbird - am thinking of you... Hope your day is going as smoothly as possible....

Hi to everyone else! I am relieved Monday is over... And it is soooo hot!!

PistachioLemon · 15/06/2009 17:58

Hey there Eth, it's grey and cloudy where we are, no sun at all. Although it was very hot over the weekend and I have sore pink bits from doing the garden on Saturday - ouch.

Last night was too hot though and I could not sleep at all. I read a tip on here somewhere about putting a frozen bottle of water in front of the fan for turbo-charged cooling but I never have a frozen bottle of water handy when it comes to it. Next time, eh.

Summer, hope all's going well today.

makingafamily · 16/06/2009 10:11

Ozziegirly · 17/06/2009 07:00

Thank you! And so we are...

I think my UCL is 30, but I've only been off the pill one month so I'm not really sure.

Figured DH and I will just get DTB regularly, hope for the best, and if nothing works, I'll start properly temping etc.

I'm not expecting miracles as I've been on the pill for donkey's years and I didn't really get any symptoms of ovulation last month, or PMT or anything really. Just felt exactly the same all month through!

PistachioLemon · 17/06/2009 11:26

We did pretty much the same thing when we started trying - although I wasn't on the pill beforehand so didn't have to worry about strange cycles luckily.

Temping is pretty good though if you're not sure you're ovulating. That's why I started doing it and it shows that I am ovulating, just a lot later in my cycle than I originally thought.

Still hopefully you won't need to do that, and joining our lucky thread is all that's required! Also, I heard (but don't know if it's true) that some people can be very fertile when they come off the pill, so fingers crossed for you.

Ozziegirly · 17/06/2009 13:30

Yes, I've heard that too - fingers crossed.

Hopefully the lucky thread will work its magic.

Good luck to you too - happy humping!

hehhe, "hump".

summerbird · 17/06/2009 21:31

HELLOOOOOOOOOOO

First of all thank you MAF for your stirling work in passing on the good news. I am currently the happiest proudest woman in the world. And i sooo sincerely want you all to have this feeling at some point so get humping!!!!!

I will do a full post tomorrow, but just want to say that i am home, happy and proud! William is an absolute dream and DH is downstairs marvelling at his hiccups!

The labour was eventful but TBH once i got to the stage of CSection it was a blessed relief.

So i will do a full post tomorrow and put some pics on of my wonderful son!

Happy days xxxxx

HELLO Summerbird!!!!
So wonderful to read your message, you sound soooooooo happy!

I can't wait to hear the news about William and to see some pics of him!

Congratulations once again to you and your DH!

lots of love & hugs xxxxx

PistachioLemon · 18/06/2009 09:05

Hey Summerbird, CONGRATULATIONS again to you and Mr Summerbird!

Such wonderful news about William. I bet he's gorgeous.

PLx

summerbird · 18/06/2009 16:46

Hey guys, just jumped on in a rare quiet moment to say that a picture of the little dude is now on my profile page.

Soooo Monday was rather dramatic, I will cut a long story short but basically they wired me up to the monitor and realised that he was in distress every time i was having a contraction, it later transpired that his cord was wrapped round his neck and as we later found out - the sheer size of him would have made it nigh on impossible to deliver naturally. It turned out that my cervix wasnt dilated after all (even after induction!) so thankfully they decided the quickest and safest route was by c section.

They did at one point break my waters - my god that was barbaric!! I have never felt pain like it but i wont digress on that for those who dont want to know!!

Anyway the actual CSection was fine and my recovery so far has also been fine. William just makes up for it a million times over and i would definitely do it again (however i would just elect for the csection immediately this time as i am now entitled to do so!).

Sorry for the quick message but i want to go and look at my gorgeous son again!! Poor guy

i havent had a chance to catch up with all your news yet but hope to do so in the next few days so hope you are all well and catch up soon

x

OP posts:
PistachioLemon · 19/06/2009 10:13

Summer, William is gorgeous!

Was the birth very traumatic or are you okay with it? It sounds like it was very eventful. Thank goodness they went for the C section in the end.

summerbird · 19/06/2009 16:21

Hi PL

well, it was certainly eventful, i wouldnt say traumatic as it could have been a lot worse and they also whipped me into theatre once they realised what was going on.

we have just been on our first trip out for lunch - to the pub!! his Uncle Summerbird came to visit so i scraped back my hair and put on some mascara and packed the LO's bag and we went in the car. He was sooo well behaved i was a proud mummy!

anyway i notice we have another newbie - welcome ozziegirly i want to hear lots more TTC stories as we arent going to be TTCing again until next June (when i can officially start again due to csection). Yep we have decided to go for it!!

Anyway, hope you are all well, and lets get back to symptom spotting and knicker checking!

Summerbird William is GORGEOUS! You MUST be very proud. So glad to hear you being so positive given that you had such an eventful delivery. Good on you! And for starting TTCing again as soon as you can. That really is a good advertisement for motherhood!

Check you out PL! Hope you have a great weekend!

And a big welcome to ozziegirly, good luck with the TTCing!

All's fine with us and our bean. We're off to Cornwall on hols on Monday and finished work early today so that's great
