Welcome back Eth, and congratulations on your pregnancy, so exciting (although MS sounds horrible).
MAF, that mid-thirties thread is hilarious isn't it. Although I feel a bit of performance pressure every time I post on it How are you feeling? Any pg symptoms apart from the constipation?
Fairy hello, I was wondering how you were getting on the other day. Glad to hear you're doing well. When's your next appointment?
So Summer any news? I was convinced you'd have given birth by the time I got back from my exam yesterday but you were still there. I am wincing at the thought of midwife and fanjo - oooh [crossing legs emotion]. Hopefully bubs will hurry up and you won't have to be induced.

No news here really, I got quite drunk on two glasses of celebratory post-exam wine yesterday, fell asleep on the train and then was tucked up in bed by 9pm. Oh, I do know how to lead a wild life.

Pistachio LOL at falling asleep by 9 - I made it to 11 the other week, was with friends and I think they thought I was joking when I said I hadn't seen 11 o clock for quite some time! (And no - nothing to do with pregnancy, have always been the same - when I was a 'wild' student, 1am was a massive achievement!)

Summer posh burger and chips sounds yum. No sign of anything yet? Sorry, you're probably really sick of people asking you that

I am OK despite a dramatic fainting fit at work first thing, which resulted in me being driven home by my boss MW says it's 'normal' though so just going to take it easy for the day and DH is coming back to work from home.

PistachioLemon · 10/06/2009 11:42

Eht, poor you for having a fainting fit. Take it easy for the rest of the day. Does your school know you're pregnant yet?

Re drinking, I really am pathetic these days. Especially compared to all my fellow students who are 22 years old and so can still take on all day sessions with no food and make it home on their own. It's like they have a sort of homing device which kicks in at 11pm. I consider myself lucky if I manage to wake up at the right stop if I've had more than half a bottle of wine.

I also tried to explain to them that hangovers become particularly painful once you're over the age of 30, but they didn't believe me (hehe they'll learn!).

summerbird · 10/06/2009 13:04

PL i love it how the twentysomethings (no disrespect to any of our wonderful 20's on this thread!) just wont accept that it will happen to them! I work with a lovely girl who is 24 and has a fabulous figure, we were trying to explain to her that no matter how fabulous you are there will always be something that goes in your 30's - she was adamant that it wouldnt happen to HER!! Bless

And my pre pregnancy hangovers were soooo much worse once i hit 30, i am of the 21 year old summerbird who used to go out every night over the weekend and feel fresh as a daisy the next day!

dont worry eth i dont mind the MNers asking for updates - it is the millions of text messages i am getting that really wind me up. DH made me laugh last night, someone at work said to him yesterday 'oh is she not in labour yet' and he said he had to stop himself from saying 'oh yeah she is but i have just left her to it, she doesnt need me - right am off to the pub'

Eth i'm 14 weeks tomorrow so a little bit behind you

eth37 · 11/06/2009 09:31

Fairy yay, are you due in December? I'm due on Nov 21st. Could be an unusual Christmas for us!!

PL yes, my work have known for a while, mainly because I suffered quite badly with morning sickness and had to make frequent trips to the loo mid-lesson (I am a teacher) which wasn't fun. Are you approaching the BD-ing fest this month? Did you book somewhere away to coincide with ovulation this month? I hope you are feeling a bit better.

Hope everyone else is OK. I am off work today after yesterday... Hoping to go back tomorrow and just rest today.

fairywing · 11/06/2009 10:06

Yup i'm due 11th December, i'm excitedly nervous about christmas this year. I think we may not bother with pressies other than for the children in the family and as for Christmas day the current plan is for parents to be invited to come over whenever they like on the understanding that while they are here they cook christmas dinner for us all!! Everyone seems happy enough with that so far! I'm just hoping baby isn't late so we can have a couple of weeks to get used to things before the complete chaos!

Forgot to say before PL my next appointment is a week on Tuesday so than i can hopefully get me next fix of reassurance and with any luck i will feel a bit of movement between then and my 20 week scan so can begin to relax a little more! The idea of a doppler is seeming very tempting at the moment!!!

summerbird · 11/06/2009 10:14

fairy i like your christmas plan, none of us know how we are going to be feeling in the subsequent weeks, so you make sure you are pampered on xmas day. Oo and my friend had her baby on 12 December last year - i got her baby text on a lovely crisp winter saturday morning, it was a real feel good feeling!

Well i am still here ladies!! think the babba has a MN addiction and doesnt want to come out!

OP posts:
eth37 · 11/06/2009 10:44

Fairy we live in London and are planning (at the minute) to somehow all get to Yorkshire for Christmas. The first thing my Dad said when we told him the news was 'Oooo well I'll come and drive down to get you for Christmas then'. Also hoping baby is not late - would be good to feel a bit more comfortable, especially that long drive to Yorkshire...

Summer how many days over are you? Did you make a decision on induction? Eeek, not long 'til next Wednesday though, when you should have him/her with you!!

Hope everyone else is well today.

summerbird · 11/06/2009 12:23

eth i am 8 days over now, and i am not feeling anything significant, i do get twinges and mild dull period type pains but they come to nothing. my friend who was also due last Wednesday is feeling the same as me so we are holding eachothers hands through this, mind you she is being induced tomorrow

they havent made any decisions on my induction yet as i have a hospital appointment tomorrow, that is when they discuss an appropriate time. the MW on Tuesday said it would likely be next week BUT i must be upbeat about this and make the most of a good night sleep

oo and eth if i were you i would take your dad up on his offer, we get sick of going to either Newcastle or Birmingham (from Manchester) every year, even without a baby! nice as it is to see the family it is also nice to chill out at home!

OP posts:
eth37 · 11/06/2009 16:20

Aaaw summer you sound fed up... Will they do a sweep tomorrow do you think? Expect you have tried all the usual things... Well, sounds like he/she is very comfy in there!!

I am still coughing like a maniac and feeling faint as soon as I am stood up so being a wimp and having a day flopping around... Think it will do me good as been so so tired and feeling like I've been running on empty for a while now.

Wonder how Dawn is??

summerbird · 11/06/2009 20:37

Hi Eth yep they should attempt another sweep tomorrow, i have been told to take my bags in just in case, (need to hide them from the neighbours tho as the last thing i want is them all fussing over me thinking i am in labour - you have no idea what my neighbours are like!!).

So hopefully i will be 'sweeped' and if the little bugger is behaving i might even get induced. My appointment is at 1.45pm tomorrow so i will jump on line in the morning to update you on my non-movements! I have been eating curries and chilis for the last couple of weeks, we also attempted some nookie but it was an absolute joke as my belly is sooo huge!

And pleeeease nobody recommend castor oil as i am not going there!

Hope you are feeling better soon eth it is rubbish when there is nothing you can take for a cold/cough. A tip from me - if you get bunged up in the nose dept then Vicks vapo-rub really did the trick for me over the winter, and as for your cough then try hot fruit juice, if nothing else it soothes your throat.

I havent heard from dawn since the weekend. She posted her experience on the Bonkers Anonymous thread, it sounds like the poor girl had a hell of a time of it. I think she was sparing us the gory details because none of us already have kids and havent been through the experience but here is the link if you want to read it. page 20 posted on tuesday

I will send her a text and tell her we are all wishing her well, sounds like she needs cheering up poor thing.

Anyway, enjoy your evening ladies

Summer, just wanted to say hope it goes well today in case bubs decides to make an appearance after the sweep or if you get induced.

PLx

summerbird · 12/06/2009 10:19

grrrrr summerbird is still here!! absolutely nothing in the night other than getting up three times for a wee!

my hospital appointment is 1.45pm today, i reckon they will just 'sweep' me then send me home. although they have told me to bring my bags in just in case they want to keep me in.

i am going to have to be really cloak and dagger about it as i have 'curtain twitcher' neighbours who will all see us loading the car and thinking that i am in labour [rolls eyes emoticon] they are lovely but just too fussy. I am also worried about them ambushing me when i get out of hospital, you know the type, wont let me even get out the car without 'ooh give me the baby here - you just take it easy - i will take it next door to give you a break' gaahhh!

I am also currently too scared to put the bins out or leave the house as they keep jumping on me going 'oohh have you not had it yet? have you tried curry and sex??' Honestly i feel like an A List celebrity who cant leave her house

hows your cough eth ?

OP posts:
summerbird · 12/06/2009 10:20

oo crossed posts PL thanks hun

OP posts:
eth37 · 12/06/2009 10:57

Oh my god, just read Dawn's post, that sounds absolutely horrendous, poor thing. Really, really traumatic.

Summerbird Will be thinking of you at 1.45... FIngers crossed... And fingers crossed the neighbours are out when you set off

Thanks for asking about cough - seems a bit better today, although I now seem to have, ahem, an upset stomach. Think it is a bug as children in my class have been dropping like flies with tummy/diarrhoea thing, so think it can't affect the baby??? Hoping so, anyway! I am a total wreck right now!

summerbird · 12/06/2009 13:09

LOL - i just had to jump on and tell you this! I was loading the car with the bags and true to form the neighbour was walking past!!!!

'ooooooooooh is this it then!!!???' she yelled

I had to explain to her that NO this isnt it but i am just going for a check up. DH was behind the front door literally pi$$ing himself laughing!!

see ya later guys

OP posts:
PistachioLemon · 12/06/2009 13:13

Summer, LOL at your neighbours!

Good luck!

summerbird · 12/06/2009 15:44

OK am back from the 'sweep' it went really well and the MW said that the head is down and my cervix is basically ready for labour

they couldnt induce me today as their policy is 12 days over and they want to see if the sweep can kick start spontaneous labour.

Sooo i am booked in for induction on Monday!! Aaaand she said that she reckons i will be in natural labour over the weekend anyway!

DH and I are going to have Fajitas for dinner tonight and have a quiet relaxed evening in before action stations

Eeeeeeeeeeekkkk!!

OP posts:
PistachioLemon · 12/06/2009 15:48

Woohoo, little Summerbean will be here soon then!

Enjoy the fajitas, hopefully they'll kickstart the action

summerbird · 12/06/2009 15:50

thats what i am hoping PL DH wants some nookie tonight but i told him that i have been violated enough today thank you very much!

oo by the way i heard from dawn she is in much better spirits and is all loved up with Elesha! I sent her all of your love and best wishes

OP posts:
eth37 · 12/06/2009 15:52

YAAAY summer that is fantastic!! Will be thinking of you this weekend!! Was the sweep ok? I hope you have kept the bags in the car boot so the neighbours don't get too excited when you actually go to hospital!!

PistachioLemon · 12/06/2009 15:53

Oh good, I was a bit worried about her traumatising birth story.

Your DH is very hopeful isn't he! I can't imagine even wanting nookie so near to birth!
