Hello everyone, no tickets required, just jump on the TTC Bus, and let's hope we'll all be getting off at the November Stop.

Add your name to the list as follows:

For anyone not familiar with the acronyms....that's what number child you are tring to conceive, how many cycles you've been trying, what day you are on, and what your usual cycle length is.

Yeay DH's home, the bd'ing has started and I slept in until 10.45.

DH got DS a buzz lightyear toy and put it in his room last night so when he woke up at 6.30 it was the first thing he saw and has been excited ever since, DH got up with him so they had some bonding time before I got up.

Monkey DS did eat baked beans but now he's off them as well, he'll eat apple but not very often, when I ask at creche about his eating they always say that he eats really well there.

Love and hugs to everyone and a double shot of baby dust all round.

georgimama · 08/02/2009 14:19

The creche are almost certainly telling the truth, toddlers know that eating (or rather not) is a powerful weapon for getting mum's attention. No child of that age will deliberately starve - DS ate masses yesterday, we've just been out for lunch and he ate vanilla ice cream. Wouldn't touch the rest. I just look at his overall diet over a period of say, a week, and realise that he does on the whole have a perfectly balanced diet.

No doubt his "lunch" looked appalling to the casual observer.

TickysMum · 08/02/2009 17:19

Hey! Just checking in - hoping you've all had weekends full of BDing - any news girls??!

Ralphie, sorry I can't give you my CD (as per previous moan re not having a cycle for over 2 years ) BUT my consultant appointment is this Wed and I get a load of test results back - hopefully something will point to where my cycle's gone! Don't worry, one day soon I'll be joining you guys working my way up that list too.....

FifiOK · 08/02/2009 18:41

yes lots of BDing at Fifi's house Giving him a night off tonight though. Then one final try tomorrow, then back to practice mode. Am trying not to raise my hopes too much this month for fear of disappointment.

littlemiss26 · 08/02/2009 19:45

hi all, just thought i'd pop on here for an update! its wierd seeing my name at the top of the list, with the longest CD days so far!!! well i finally ovulated according to my opk (hurrah!! ). It was positive last sunday and monday night soooooo obviously did lots of bding and am now on the 2WW - well tecnically the 1WW now. I'm hoping to test this thursday/friday before we go on holiday for the week!! wish me luck

anyone else close????

vtiredmummy · 08/02/2009 19:57

Aargh!!! Limited BDing for me this weekend.

DH is really ill (man flu) and has spent the whole weekend in bed...on his own sleeping, sniffling and moaning about feeling unwell.

Was bit about how poorly he was until he turned down the offer of BDing, at which point I knew he was really sick!

Hope others have had better luck!

scarlotti · 08/02/2009 20:04

Hello ladies

Sorry for not checking in for a while, things at home all went a bit pete tong for a bit. All is well again now though which is a relief!

Homeinthesun - hoorah dh is home! Try not to worry about ds not eating, my ds is very similar although now he's getting older he's better. he eats like a dream at nursery but at home refuses any veg at all. It's the sheep phenomenon - i.e. they're like sheep when they're together! Can you try inviting a pal of his for tea on the days when you're really worrying about it?
What about smoothies too?

As for me, I think it will be this weekend and next week that are the 'right' nights so excited about that.
Sadly I've had my Mum telling me I shouldn't be thinking of another baby as I had post natal depression last time and she thinks I'll get too stressed out by it all.
Why can't some people just keep their opinions to themselves?!

Twiglettini · 08/02/2009 21:27

Hello, have been lurking after early mc two and a bit weeks ago. Would like to join you and add my name to the list, but sadly, we only managed one BD 2days after ov due to DH being ill with muscular spasmy back thing! So don't think there is any hope of a November baby for me this year

Am enjoying hanging around, if that's ok to see who gets lucky - here's hoping for lots of BFPs.

(Hello Rainbow and KatB)

georgimama · 09/02/2009 07:08

Hi Twiglettini,

So sorry about your MC, I had an early one just before Christmas so I have limited hopes for this month but am hoping somegood luck will rub off on me from others.

FifiOK · 09/02/2009 08:09

Welcome on Board Twiglettini sorry to hear about your MC. There are a few of us here who have had them too. But they do say you can be very fertile straight away so good luck. I've added you in, just add in the missing numbers, if you know them.

We are hoping to get a few graduates this wee.

Thanks for kind words Georgimama and Fifiok, sorry about your mc, too GM. Did not really want to be part of the list as really VERY unlikely to have conceived, but, no harm in joining, I guess and I do like feeling part of a group .

Anyone testing early?? Have to admit that I was a complete POAS addict last cycle and am really going to try and stop myself this time.

Hi girls

You all seem to be so scientific about trying to get pg. Took me 3 years to get pregnant with DD#1 and that only happened once I'd given up with all the science, tests and drugs. Can't face the thought of it all again - it drove me mad last time. Is anyone else just crossing their fingers and hoping for the best?

nunnie · 09/02/2009 11:07

Hello Alwayshopefull. Took me four years with #1 and that was just crossing fingers no charting etc.
Taken me 17 months of trying for this one and uptill last month was crossing fingers, this month is the first time I have checked when I am most fertile and it didn't work anyway cos I went to bed early and he didn't Think I may go back to crossing fingers for next month. Christmas is a lovely time to have a baby anyway .

andi0411 · 09/02/2009 11:27

Hi ladies- can i join you?
I have been reading with interest the problems with feeding a toddler- my ds is 20 months and some days i feel he eats nothing- other days it seems ok. i think if i balanced it out it would be ok over the week, but its hellish at the time. I refuse to let either of us get stressed over it though as i know it'd make things worse...

Trying for no. 2- been trying for around 6 months 'properly' and had a long wait for my first combined with multiple m/c etc. I had a chemical pg the month before last so I'm hopeful that somehow my fertility is raised..at least something is happening. Just got some opk sticks from e bay and will start those soon.
Good luck!!

Hello newbies!

I know what you mean Always, I am trying to avoid temperature taking and OPKs at the moment but I have PCOS and without the science bit I don't think DS would ever have happened.

I do think that there is a lot to be said for regular sex and a positive mental attitude though!

scarlotti · 09/02/2009 12:03

Morning ladies

Guess it does seem a little scientific but I think some of us just feel better having a little bit of control on the whole thing, even if we're not getting the results we want!
Nunnie - we argued recently so our chances this month will be slim I suspect so you're not alone

Anyone for another cocktail?!

AlwaysHopefull · 09/02/2009 12:26

Make mine a large white wine, please - it calms the control freak in me! I think that's what broke me last time I was trying.. doing everything right and not getting the results was a killer.

Best of luck to everyone.

PS what's a chemical pg?

FifiOK · 09/02/2009 12:48

Alwayshopeful lifted this off another site.

The term chemical pregnancy is used to refer to the situation where a pregnancy test has shown up positive, but there are no clinical signs of pregnancy and no developing embryo. In simple terms, it is a miscarriage that occurs within a week of the missed period. Fertilisation has taken place, and the pregnancy hormones that are registered by a pregnancy test have begun to be produced, but the pregnancy has then failed. As pregnancy tests are now very sensitive, and tests may, in some cases, give a positive result even before a missed period, many women find out about their pregnancies much earlier than they would have done in the past. Miscarriages are especially common in the early days and weeks, and a high proportion of pregnancies that are identified at a very early stage do not continue. Many of these very early miscarriages would in the past have been considered to be late periods. There are all sorts of reasons for early miscarriages (genetic problems, immune problems etc.), but in most cases we do not know why they have occurred.

Probably a good reason not to test too early. (easier said than done)

Yes I would agree that some of us are a little scientific about the whole TTC thing but I know with me, even when I get a BFN, at least I know that I did everything I could to help the sperm meet the egg. I have worries about the quality of my eggs as I'm 35+ and have had one blighted ovum so I don't want to miss out a month when it could have been a good egg.

Although I'd like to try without the science I know that I just wouldn't and I'd be counting days etc. Good luck to you thought, you must be very self controlled.

OP posts:
AlwaysHopefull · 09/02/2009 15:22

Thanks for that. I think maybe that's what happened to me last month. I usually have a 28 day cycle and did a test at 30 days. Myself and DH argued over the result - I'd have sworn there was a line, but he said it was too faint, so it didn't count. Either way, the next test I did a day later came up negative and finally got AF on day 32.

As for self control, I think I've mis-lead you! I'm just interested to find out how other people cope with the same situation without getting into the anti-depresants, councelling and a ruined sex life that I experienced last time round. You are all a source of hope and support which I hope will help me keep things in perspecitive.

violetbubbles · 09/02/2009 15:34

AlwaysHopeful I like to share info with everyone else in this room too Especially since I haven't told anyone in real life that we're TTC, this thread gives me an outlet to discuss the kind of stuff that I'd normally chat about with family and friends. But as I'm keeping it all hush hush I'm enjoying the support from everyone on this thread! Thanks for the info about early miscarriages/late periods - v informative!

Still waiting for AF to arrive...due today

georgimama · 09/02/2009 16:07

Things didn't get quite that bad for us AH but I did spend many an hour crying in the loo at yet another BFN. I think my worst moment was when I was given a leaflet (by the fertility clinic(!) on a (no doubt perfectly lovely) organisation called "More to Life" which is networking/social links for the childless-not-by-choice.

I'm trying not to get too demanding with DH about times/dates as he (understandably) resents becoming irresistable for 7 days or so a month. This is where we can let it all out without being mental in RL!

scarlotti · 09/02/2009 16:16

Yes, echo the posts above.
Now I know what a chemical pg is, that's what I had in September. I would have been 5 weeks pg when I miscarried.
I then got pg again the following cycle but miscarried that at 10 weeks, and had an erpc on xmas eve.
We've deliberately waited for a full cycle this time so everything is starting from a level playing field but the biology is only half of it. Emotionally it's a rollercoaster and it's so helpful to have people here to talk things through (incessantly?!) so that you don't become a bore about it in RL.

I have to say one of the bonuses (in some respects) of all my temping was to work out that my nasty mood swings are definitley pmt related. DH now knows when the temp shift has happened and therefore when to duck!!
