Hello everyone, no tickets required, just jump on the TTC Bus, and let's hope we'll all be getting off at the November Stop.

Add your name to the list as follows:

For anyone not familiar with the acronyms....that's what number child you are tring to conceive, how many cycles you've been trying, what day you are on, and what your usual cycle length is.

think we may have missed the boat this month as i have been feeling crap for the last few days as full of cold and not felt like bding at all

georgimama · 06/02/2009 19:23

Koumak you don't need to have sex every day. I would suggest every other day from day 10 to day 18 (that's only five times!) if you have a 30 day cycle.

How long did it take you to conceive DC1, if you don't mind me asking? Took us ages but as I am on Metformin straight away I am hoping to conceive within 6 months this time.

jennybensmummy · 06/02/2009 21:22

well looks like im out this month too as all negative tests and on cd24 ucl is 28 so doubtful this month but still hoping!! All anyone says to me in rl is well it took 2 yrs with ds so why do you expect it any quicker!!!! how annoying, and the usual if you relax and stop trying it wil happen, well im relaxed and nothing happening!!!!!!!

georgimama · 06/02/2009 22:33

Have you considered having any blood tests or other investigations, jennybens? Two years is a long time.

Ralphie0956 · 07/02/2009 10:01

Ladies it's either the control freak in me or I'm really bored, but I've put the CD's at the end of each to update easier! Hopefully that's ok with everyone? It's also updated.

Hi I'm feeling slightly better today, DS and I went out for dinner with loads of friends last night, we've been to a soft play area this morning out for lunch (ds threw a massive tantrum and ate nothing)and bowling this afternoon. DH's flight is going to get in late tonight so our friend is going to pick him up (7 hours to go).
Monkey It's just hard to get him to eat anything other than, crisps, chocolate spread, biscuits, chocolate, you know all the thing's he shouldn't live on, I've tried giving him food then taking it away when he doesn't eat it and offering a healthy snack later and he just doesn't eat, he's gone off all veg, sauces other that ketchup, rice, really everything he used to eat a year ago, the only thing he will eat is dry breakfast cereal like bran flakes and raisen toast.

Hello everyone!

Please can I join you? I have been on most monthly threads since we started TTC this time (since the May babies one ) so I recognise a few names, though thankfully many of my previous thread-buddies have graduated...

Anyhow hope you don't mind but I've added myself to the bottom of the list. I'm on cycle 9 of TTC our third DC- I am very lucky to already have 2 gorgeous children, which fortunately for us were conceived almost without trying- however this time it's taking ages! But my cycle seemed quite a bit shorter since having DD, finishing BFing and coming off cerazette mini-pill, around 24-26 days long, when I used to be a regular 28 day girl, so am wondering if my body just wasn't/isn't ready. This past cycle though we are back to 28 days so trying to be positive this time, and am going to give temping a go & OPKs too!

Good luck all of you, lots of baby dust from the windy north coast of NI!

georgimama · 07/02/2009 15:59

Hi JumpingJellyfish!

Is everyone snowed in? We are having a lovely weekend, DH was working very late last night by which time DS and I were already in bed. A co-sleeping nearly 2 yaer old is making sex (sorry I cannot bring myself to say baby-dancing - shudder) something of a logistical nightmare - we snuck into the spare room the night before last, too tired last night but am aware of being on day 12 so will try to knuckle down over next couple of days as it were.

Sorry, I don't often post on the internet about my sex life, I do hope there's no such thing as TMI here.

georgimama · 07/02/2009 16:01

Homeinthesun, how old is your DS? Have you tried a Teddy Bear's picnic (carpet style at this time of the year) and making lunch a game? DS loves it.

earlynite · 07/02/2009 16:30

Hi Just checking in. Entering my fertile period now so lots of BDing this weekend.

HomeintheSun · 07/02/2009 17:13

Hi georgimama DS is 2.2 years. yes have tried that, there are a few days that he will eat a bit, yesterday he ate nearly nothing all day and then had a few chicken nuggets and a few chips, the only thing he will eat everyday is his yoghurt, I'm going to see the HV on Tuesday so going to keep a food diary between now and then cause I'm sure he thinks when I say DS's not eating he thinks I mean not eating very much. Also (sorry for TMI) Thursday he had green runny poo, he hasn't been ill recently so I just don't know what to do. All I ear from my mum and sister is that no toddler has very starved themselves but this doesn't make me feel any better when I'm putting yet another meal into the dogs bowl.

bubblebell1 · 07/02/2009 17:31

Hi everyone!

hope you are all ok.

this thread moves sooo fast, i cant keep up

thinking of you all and hoping that this thread is the luckiest that mn has ever seen

still nothing to report here. no AF and no BFP! i started agnus castus and am still charting and using those cheapie opks in the hope that i ovulate and can catch it.

trying my best to stay positive and keeping my fingers crossed that my cycles right themselves soon

babydust and sticky thoughts to all xxx

JumpingJellyfish · 07/02/2009 17:33

Homeinthesun really feel for you re your DS's eating. My DD (19 mo) is also going through a difficult stage, and although I know not to turn mealtimes into battlegrounds and all that I find it really hard (especially as due to her CF she needs more calories than most to keep healthy). TBH at the moment I am offering her food nearly every hr, as she seems to eat little and often (think she may be cutting molars too, so maybe that is making eating harder). I try to keep it fairly healthy although due to her CF she needs a higher amount of far/salt so does get crisps & chocolate quite often. At non meal times she is offered raisins (sometimes yogurt-coated or choc-coated!), slices of apples, cheerios or shreddies, ritz crackers (in place of rice cakes, which DS has), sticks of cheddar cheese and cucumber/pepper/carrot sticks with sometimes humous (if at the table). I just throw out what she doesn't eat after 15 mins at snack times. For meal times she is offered what we are having just cut up smaller- at the moment she rarely eats more than a couple of nibbles of it, but have discovered she loves well pureed soups- which she can drink through a straw!! What she doesn't eat after 20 mins gets chucked then we offer "pudding" (fruit, yogurt, sometimes ice cream or custard as a treat). She doesn't get pudding if she hasn't touched any of her dinner, but even if she's only had one mouthful of dinner she still gets pudding. She loves yogurt so usually eats quite a lot of that too!

I recall DS being very similar at this age and it took a few months but he did grow out of it, and although can still be a bit fussy I think he's fairly normal for his age now and he eats pretty well to be honest- quite a wide range of fruit/veg although likes his food "separate" i.e. not casseroles etc., which can be a pain, so trying to work on that still... It's never ending!

Good luck trying to keep calm about it all, it will get better. Just keep offering everything- sometimes 3 months later they'll start eating a food they'd refused up til then (I always put sticks of pepper out for DD even though she has never eaten one, just hoping one day she will).

The waste is awful though, I have started composting a lot and hope to move house and get chickens to feed a lot of it to (a dog helps too!)

smallone · 07/02/2009 17:43

Hi! I'm moving over from Oct thread as AF is threatening, lots of names I recognise and lots I don't so hello to everyone!

Will add myself tomorrow coz I don't think today will count as day one.

Lets hope that its 7th time lucky this month.

HomeintheSun · 07/02/2009 17:50

I was telling my friend from next door about his none eating and she said (she has no children I need to add at this point) that she would just stop offering any food and after a couple of days of not being given anything then he would go back to eating everything. Don't think I'll be taking that bit of advice.

smallone · 07/02/2009 18:20

Home are you sure she's not got kids? just so thin you can't see them? My friends ds is funny about food, seems to only eat for 3 days a week, but perfectly happy to nibble a few dry shreddies the rest of the time. Is there anything he eats that you're happy for him to live on? I'd just give him that as a basis and supplement with a few "no pressure" extras and see what happens, if he's just not hungry then getting stressed about food isn't going to help either of you in the long term. Hows his weight?

Does he drink alot? Is he filling up with liquid? I have the opposite problem with DD so am giving her lots to drink to try and reduce her calorie intake, coz she'd just eat constantly if I let her.

My mate is now the queen of hidden food. Her DS will eat toasted sandwiches which she hides all sorts of things in, which he will happily eat as long as its stuck together with melted cheese.

Does he like to eat things off your plate? Could you try giving yourself a snack but not him and see if he wants to see what he's missing?

I hope you can get somewhere with you HV, try not to worry, although its not ideal, your ds will never starve as long as he's happy to eat something, even if it is chocolate biscuits. You can always give him some vitamin drops if your worried about the lack of variety.

FifiOK · 07/02/2009 20:04

welcome on board smallone and jumping sorry AF got you. But you have joined a merry crowd and there is lots of baby dust for all to share. homeinthesun I am sure there are thousands of toddlers living on yoghurt, chicken nuggets etc. I won't say don't worry, as you clearly are worried. It's is probably worse for you as you are one on one so much with him, I hope that DHs arrival takes the pressure off you a little. I'm mid BD-marathon (not quite now - I can't do that and type ) but last few days, & tonight if DH doesn't OD on beer & curry ! I might give him a night off for good behaviour tomorrow. Fingers crossed this is our lucky month girlies.

Small he likes breakfast cereal like bran flakes, honey loops, raisen toast and cheddars.

DH's flight arrives in just over an hour I'd be very surprised if he's up for bd'ing tonight cause it'll be after midnight our time by the time he gets in.

Thanks small Fifi georgimama and Jumping for listening to me and for all your advice. Hopefully the HV will be of some use on Tuesday.

rainbowdays · 07/02/2009 22:45

Homeinthesun - hope your dh is home now! I just wanted to say that at just over 2 years old is a NORMAL age for fussy eating as it is referred to often. It is not easy, but the general advice from dieticians is to eat together as a family and just offer the food, ignore any not eating, then remove it after 30 mins when you have all finished and just continue as normal. They recommend not bringing attention to it, just ignoring it, treat it as normal, but they should stay sat with you while you eat and just have general chit-chat and normal time. It is not easy, as a mothers instinct is to want to see their child eat. At this age it is often about the child asserting their independance, and one thing they have control over is eating, and they can get attention for not eating. I hope that your HV will be of help on Tuesday when you see her.

Allwayshopeful - welcome to mn.

Ralphie - so sensible to have cd day at the end for ease of updating!

My news - I started doing OPK's for the first time this month and today I finally got a positive.... yee-ha, so I better go find dh and get some loving!

monkeybumsmum · 08/02/2009 08:32

Morning, oh my goodness I'm on CD6 already The first 2w does fly by doesn't it!

Homeinthesun It is terribly worrying when they don't eat, but as your family say he's not going to starve. My ds has set things that he'll eat, and then the other stuff I try to offer him and hope that he'll try at least one mouthful, but more often then not it ends up on the floor before he's got that far... One thing he does love, which might be worth a try with your ds if you haven't already, is Baked Beans. For some reason he adores them! Maybe I'm wrong, but I always think of them as being pretty healthy, and as he's a bit older now I think it's okay with the high fibre content (hope so anyway!).
I do tend to give him at least one thing in a meal that I know he'll eat, because I can't bear the thought that he'll go hungry . I think rainbowdays' advice is spot on.
DS always has a yoghurt after his meal too, as I know it's something else he'll eat... Even if he hasn't touched his lunch/supper I'll give it to him - I don't think he'd grasp the concept of 'if you don't eat, no pudding' yet. I will certainly be doing that when he's older though!
What about fruit? Will he eat that? My ds loves grapes... (And also has a serious addiction to Loops (cereal) which we are trying to address . Keep on looking round and finding him sitting in front of the cereal cupboard with his hand in the box, and cheeks like a hamsters . Can't tell him off as am too busy trying not to laugh!)

Hello AlwaysHopefull Welcome to MN! Hope this thread's a lucky one for you

rainbowdays Happy loving! Lovely way to spend a Sunday........

Am a bit worried as dh is working so hard, that I fear by the time I get to the end of next wk, he'll be too knackered for any action. Hope that's not the case... There is always that new underwear that he bought me for Christmas
