Hello everyone, no tickets required, just jump on the TTC Bus, and let's hope we'll all be getting off at the November Stop.

Add your name to the list as follows:

For anyone not familiar with the acronyms....that's what number child you are tring to conceive, how many cycles you've been trying, what day you are on, and what your usual cycle length is.

Hi everyone

Just checking in. Nothing to report as yet! AF was due two days ago...waiting (im)patiently now...I've got a really bad headache today and that normally symbolises the start of my period so I'll keep you posted!

Oh, I visited my GP yesterday to get a bit of advice about TTC and he was so not interested! You know what he said? In a really bored tone: "eat healthily, adopt a healthy lifestyle and wait for nature to take its course"! I asked was there anything else and he said "avoid alcohol"! And that was that! I've gotten more information and support from the people in this discussion area than I got from my own GP. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't looking for him to be all excited for me, or anything like that, it's just that he didn't even suggest that I track my cycle!

Rant over...

Morning all. Ralphie0956 I live near Limassol. DH hasn't been home that much.
DH arrived home sat, went back to work Mon at 6.30am got home at 5pm was home 5 minutes and got called out was back by 6pm. Yesterday he did 6-6, DS was a nightmare and was up until 10 again. (so no bd last night). DH has gone to work for 6am and DS's at creche this morning so I get 4 hours to myself DH just text me to say he's going to be back at 3pm so hopefully DS will have a nap, and DH and I can get in a BD. anyway how is everyone this morning???

Koumak · 11/02/2009 09:29

morning all. Can you please tell me when is the earliest I can start testing with the pg tests? I swear I felt pg all day yesterday ? hungry all the time (funny as I didn?t when pg with ds) and dh said my boobs looked bigger!

AmandaHugankiss · 11/02/2009 09:44

morning.

just joining from the october thread - adding myself to list. wasn't sure whether to count yesterday or today as CD1. For half of yesterday it was just a small amount of brown and then went to full on period in evening (TMI I know). Would I count that as CD1 or would today be CD1? ta

violebubbles I know exactly what you mean took ds to gp yesterday re earache (our usual gp wasn?t there) but I thought I will ask him about ttc anyway I swear he used the exact words! I thought maybe they should do some tests to see if we are immune against something no? Does anybody know?

violetbubbles · 11/02/2009 12:50

Hey Koumak - I guess I was annoyed as well because I rarely visit my GP and I was just looking for a bit of advice. I even mentioned that I didn't like to rely on information that I found on the internet cos sometimes it can be unreliable or of dubious quality, but he didn't echo my concerns. I visited the practice nurse recently for my smear test and she seemed much more interested in my health; and I wasn't even TTC at that point! Anyway, the experience with my GP just left me cold!

I'm glad I've got this thread to rely on as I'm learning so much about the female body and how it works from all of the lovely ladies who share their stories and offer help & advice!

georgimama · 11/02/2009 12:57

Koumak I agree, a woman's immunity to rubella should (I mean ideally) be checked before she conceives but frankly, can the NHS afford these kinds of well woman checks before conception?

Can I just ask, ladies with variable cycles, when are you planning to test? Day 28 or a bit later? My cycle has varied between 21 and 35 days in the last six months, I was pleasantly surprised when AF arrived more or less as it should in Jnauary after MC in December (that was 35 day cycle). Not sure how long to wait.

Koumak · 11/02/2009 13:08

i dont think i can wait that long 28 seems long enough to me!

Koumak · 11/02/2009 13:11

Also just read somewhere that if this is second pregnancy than everything should have been tested with first pregnancy i.e. should be ok as trying for #2

Koumak · 11/02/2009 13:12

sorry yet another one warning TMI if i am indeed pregnant can is still have smear test mine is long time overdue

monkeybumsmum · 11/02/2009 13:29

Not sure Koumak - have heard that you shouldn't but that's just from reading stuff on MN. I've had 2 smears whilst pg, and although I'm pretty sure they were coincidences, I went on to mc both times
Good luck - hope you are indeed pg

HomeintheSun · 11/02/2009 13:36

Koumak I found this on a baby.com site (not very technical so couldn't do the link thing)
If you become pregnant and you are not up to date with your routine cervical screening (you have not had a screening test in the previous three or five years, depending on your age), you may be asked to have a screening test at your first antenatal appointment. The screening test will not interfere with your pregnancy.
HTH

Koumak · 11/02/2009 13:47

great thanks i think that i had one some time after ds - now 4 so cant be that overdue

Koumak · 11/02/2009 13:50

aha reminder for test received april 08 would this mean it was 3 year in april then? is that long time?

mad4mybaby · 11/02/2009 13:50

hi ladies just want to say hi and reminise. am currently feeding my 12 week old ds2 and i cant believe this was me a whole year ago!!!!!!! i wish you all the luck and happiness in the world! xxxx

monkeybumsmum · 11/02/2009 13:58

Thanks mad4mybaby and Congratulations to you!!! Hope you are enjoying this very special time and that of course you're not too tired!

scarlotti · 11/02/2009 14:11

Fifi - thanks for the info on the Deanna plan.

When we concieved my ds I asked the GP whether we should do it every other day to give his swimmers chance to rest and she said no need. Fine in theory but it does get tiring doing it every night for a week when you have RL to contend with too!!

Koumak - ideally you'd have your smears every 3 years but some places are every 5 so I think you'll be fine.

Violet - annoying when your GP is so blase! Don't let that disappoint you too much though. If you want to read up on it all, go on to fertilityfriend.com - they have as much information and answers about it all that you'll ever need!

girlwithacurl · 11/02/2009 14:29

Hi everyone, just checking in as I am only on CD8 so still have 20 days until I even ovulate grr.
Anyway, on GP's... mine was also useless and just gave me a lecture about not going to see them until I had done two tests a week apart that were positive... which apart from anything else is totaly irrisponsible, if I get a positive (a proper one) then even if I do have an early MC they should still be aware of it IMO. Didn't even tell me to start folic acid and had no advice/literature etc.

Smear tests - you're supposed to go 1 week after your AF anyway, so wouldn't be able to have a "routine" one if you were pregnant. I assume an Anti-natal one is done by someone who knows what they are doing. btw. we have them every 2 years where I live, which I think is a bit extreme, but I would definitly have one if you can koumak

Koumak · 11/02/2009 15:20

thanks for your advice ladies
Monkeybumsmum I am sorry to hear that now I know I am not going to do anything about it unless I am thrown off the Nov bus that is?!

Koumak · 11/02/2009 15:24

just looking at girlwithacurl post and checking CD8 is the 8th day after your 1st day of period correct? so ovulation date cant be 20 days later? or have it got it wrong? unless your cycle is really long?

Koumak · 11/02/2009 15:54

yes the cycle is longer should've checked... sorry
also i need to get a life and stop checking this thread so often

girlwithacurl · 11/02/2009 16:09

Hi koumak yes stupidly long cycles grrr...

nunnie · 11/02/2009 16:35

JUst butting sorry.
I was on yearly smears when I got pregnant and was due one the month I found out, I was told it would be fine to wait till after the baby is born and an appointment was made at my 6 week check, all fine and dandy. Hope that is helpful.

TishB · 11/02/2009 19:45

sorry georgiemama i can be a bit dizzy sometimes!!!

Thanks for the explanation about the Deanna Plan FifiOK.
'
My mum told me about the 'trying evey other day' being a good method but I was researching on the net and found tips from Dr Chris Steele (of GMTV/This Morning Fame) - he advises to bd from at least 2 days before ovulation, on day of ovulation and on the two days after! Phew - if that doesn't put the pressure on don't know what will!

But tried it this month - would have thought I had a better chance of a BFP but I hate to say it - I don't think I'm oving - even with the 50mg clomid! Still, am now waiting till AF is due.

Any other advice on best days to bd or not to bd would be great!

Also someone told me it's a goo idea NOT to bd for at least 3 days before the day before ov day - and then to go at it - this saves up the sperm to give good sperm density when you DO bd!
Then again, have read that going 3+ days without bding will mean sperm is getting old and not as potent.

So confusing!
