TTC - Clomid Thread

1000 replies

MamaMaiasaura · 16/01/2009 23:09

Hi just wondered if people ttc on Clomid wanted to join this thread unless i have been stupid and missed one.

We are due to fertility clinic on 22nd and expect to go on clomid again.

We have 2 dc. Ds1 is nearly 9 and was concieved without fertility help. THis was a big surprise as have PCOS and was told would never conceive naturally.

Ds2 was conceived after 1 course of clomid 50mg. My day 21 test was awful and still no period after 45ish day. Was put on progesterone to induce bleed. Didnt happen as was pregnant.

Was also on metformin but not currently, waiting for all clear next week. I have dodgy lft generally on medication and also bfing.

Ds2 is 1 now and still breastfeeding. Hoping this will not hinder any treatment as really want to continue this too. I am now 33 so fertility decreasing too.

I dont have a cd currently as all up the shoot so waiting to see what happens really.

clure hi! Thanks for getting back. Yes i forgot to mention that jan 08 I suddenly woke up in lots of pain in my side and thought I had kidney infection, docs suspected that or appendix or eptopic PG. So they did laparoscopy: They found inflamed fallopian tube and ovary - just like the scan- i had the blue dye test in april 08 and conf tube still big - but no blockage. So I'm now wondering what to do. My thyroid was checked in nov - and is ok. I have lost 2 stone but cant budge anymore. The weight gain happened so fast but is taking alot to get off! xx

loulabell07 · 13/02/2009 10:42

Stac LOL for Jeremy Kyle remark! xx

Glad you got thru it - my friend cant see an end right now. The way I see it is that she aint losing me and she is loved even if not the way she craves! xx

stac14 · 13/02/2009 10:43

Loulabelle
Didn't see your first post, but I agree with clure the doc should be checking all your bloods. Do you have a gynaecologist now or a fertility adviser? You were saying that your only signs of pcos is the enlarge ovary and fallopian tube, I am pretty much the same and my biggest problem apart from ttc is losing weight, my gp prescribe xenical which is a fat absorption drug that is safe to take while ttc and pregnant. It basically encourages you to eat well because if you dont there are some dodgy side effects. I have been taking it since August and have lost a stone, not much I know but loads for someone with pcos.

Funny you should mention the injection, my niece has been in the same boat, never bled while on it and has only bled once since stopping it a year ago to ttc, I must kick her ass to go to the gp to get checked out.

loulabell07 · 13/02/2009 10:56

Thanks - I will call the Hosp and ask for more checks. I'm under a Gynaecologist although its normally anyone from his medical team I see or speak to. Do you know if its poss to ovulate and not get AF? I'm doubting my pos ovulation test.??? x

stac14 · 13/02/2009 11:01

I haven't heard of ov and no af, was it the ov testing kit you used, attila says the clomid can mess with the results of these, but you shoud have had your bloods done cd21 and if it was positive then you must have ovulated

with your friend, if she wants to pop on I will gab to her about it, is she getting meds? and you are a good friend showing her you are there, it is something she will be grateful for when the depression gets better xx

loulabell07 · 13/02/2009 11:08

Yes it was a home ov test, so that will explain it - thanks. - didnt have my bloods taken - they told me to do that on the second round of clomid - which, as no AF; hasnt come along....Is that normal among you ladies?

stac14 · 13/02/2009 11:24

you said you have pcos so that is normal with regards to the condition, erratic or no periods at all, you may need progesterone to start you off, I had to take it last month and again this month as I havent bled normally since april 08, how long have you been waiting for af? your doc may prescribe something for you x

Alfiemax · 13/02/2009 17:16

Hiya Ladies,

Lots of chatting on here this week, it's so lovely to see. I really hope we can all be lucky on here and get our BFP's in the not too distant furture.

Well just to let you know I haven't took clomid and I'm CD4. I'm just not physically or emotionally up for it at the moment. I don't know what's a matter with me at the moment but I'm not feeling too good to be honest. I'm gonna try and pick myself back up and maybe go and see my GP about how sick i feel all the time before whacking my body with 100mg's of C. I want to take this dose but I really dont think I can at the minute. Also I'm going to ring my consultants sec and ask to be seen as this just doesn't feel right not having up to date tests and no monitoring, especially as C made my cycle even shorter than norm.

Apologies to Stac and Clure for getting you mixed up and well done Stac for the weight loss.

I hope everyone is ok and I hope you don't mind me being on here still as you have all been wonderful to me and have offered great advice and been an ear that I can bend LOL.
I'm hoping to feel more up to scratch very soon. This period has been very very heavy and clotty, and miserable lol.

XXX

stac14 · 13/02/2009 18:04

Hey Alfiemax
Think this is the best place to let off steam so if there is anything you need to get off your chest you should do it, we have all got to know each other reallywell and just cos your not taking clomid this month doesnt mean you should be going to another thread.
Think your right about getting your doc to give you a complete overhaul, when I go back to the nurse I am going to get her to check my thyroid levels as I havent had them done for a while (I have an under-active thyroid on top of everything else)

Hope your feeling better soon and remember we are all in this together XXX

MamaMaiasaura · 13/02/2009 21:35

Alfie - stay on this thread, nothing wrong with having a break from clomid for a month. We are all here to support eachother. Sounds like a horrible period

Clure - after provera waited for period (can take up to a week) and start clomid day 2 of cycle.

Stac - what CD are you?

I have been feeling very emotional. On SD 2 here (sex day 2) am going to try and keep it going till either bfp or period. lol, one way of keeping fit.

Feeling guilty as ds2 seems to be having problems with my breastmilk I seem to still have milk but he is not happy. Either not coming out at normal rate or different taste. I feel so shit because it is probably the meds that have affected it. Poor baby.

Last time i had metformin too but the guidelines have changed. Also the waiting time here wasnt long, but i dont know if that changes according to postcode.

mummycat1 · 14/02/2009 10:56

Hello everyone - I work Thursdays and Fridays - am a secondary school teacher - and so life can be pretty hectic for a couple of days!

Mad dash at 7am across the city yesterday morning and back again in time for work - just made it into early morning meeting and no one noticed that I was half an hour later than I normally am!

Went to the fertitlty unit for CD13 scan. 2 eggs on right at 2.3cm and 1.7cm and 2 on the left at 2.2cm and 1.4cm. The 1.4 is prob not viable though. So vitrelle injection given as the other three are big enough to go - This means that my eggs will release this eve. Now I'm under strict instructions to BD tonight and we did it on Thurs too.

Had a chat with nurse about all other suggested ideas on here and she said that they only suggest - no smoking or alcohol and take folic acid. Eat a healthy diet and maybe some zinc and selenium for DH if his seeds are in need of some help.

Main advice as usual was ..... you guessed it.... CHILL OUT!

easier said than done!!

Will also be BDing on Sun and Mon and having bloods done next Fri.

Awen Green tea is for EWCM - think Alfiemax might have told me that. I was told to stop bfing before going on the Clomid - my DH was 2 by then so not such a big issue, but they actually said that they wouldn't give me Clomid if I was bfing!

Brandybaby thanks for all the ideas - if/when I get my bfn I think I'll give some more of those things a go. Though grapefruit juice and green tea seem to be working well right now!

Stac14 sounds like you're thinking positively about the next step - think we always have to look forwards don't we?

millymolly83 · 14/02/2009 20:33

Hi Everyone!

Just checking in! Hope you all had a good Valentines Day? Glad to hear you have Stace sounds like a good approach to remember to have fun! I'm sure all the pressure we put on ourselves doesnt help the situation!

I'm still trying to get to know everyone on here, I cant tell you how much this helps me with my ttc issues so thanks everyone for posting such helpful info! Brandybaby I found your list incredible! I never would have thought of any of that stuff - thanks for sharing.

I havn't made any progress medically since Thursday when my negative pregnancy test was confirmed. I will be calling the hospital up on tomorrow to arrange an appointment. Emotionally I am dealing with it better than expected - thanks to you ladies xxx

Clure · 15/02/2009 13:07

Hi all,

am just trying to gather my thoughts and make a list of questions/query's for seeing gynae tomorrow. Feel a bit sick now.
Just re-reading parts of thread and wondered about PCOS. I know the condition is related to ovarian cysts and hormone imbalance.

Awen I was just wondering how you were diagnosed and about symptoms. I've read up a bit about these. From the list I could say I have very few periods, previous hormone tests showed low progesterone, oily skin. No issues with weight or hair, not sure about ovarian cysts

Anyway hoping all you ladies are ok today
