Hi just wondered if people ttc on Clomid wanted to join this thread unless i have been stupid and missed one.

We are due to fertility clinic on 22nd and expect to go on clomid again.

We have 2 dc. Ds1 is nearly 9 and was concieved without fertility help. THis was a big surprise as have PCOS and was told would never conceive naturally.

Ds2 was conceived after 1 course of clomid 50mg. My day 21 test was awful and still no period after 45ish day. Was put on progesterone to induce bleed. Didnt happen as was pregnant.

Was also on metformin but not currently, waiting for all clear next week. I have dodgy lft generally on medication and also bfing.

Ds2 is 1 now and still breastfeeding. Hoping this will not hinder any treatment as really want to continue this too. I am now 33 so fertility decreasing too.

I dont have a cd currently as all up the shoot so waiting to see what happens really.

Good Evening Ladies!

Stac Sounds like you have had a long day! How annoying that she didnt call you back! It's not easy waiting around for someone else to be bothered to follow up on these things for us! Hope you will find out first thing tomorrow x

I have got to say I am so pleased to have found this network and the support I see you all give each other has been inspiring for me - having gone about my own fertility problems without the understanding of any of my close friends. And I'm still trying to get used to the abbreviations and names of procedures, that I have never come across myself before, it's def a learning curve!

Thanks for the welcome x

MamaMaiasaura · 11/02/2009 22:54

Hi everyone Sorry been not on here. Have started clomid but just had really busy week. Is ds1's 9th birthday today He has had a lovely day.

Am CD5 taken clomid 4 nights now and last dose tomorrow. Consultant called as was due to have scan on Monday as on a higher dose (100mg). She is away so rather than seeing someone else will have day 21 bloods on 27th February and see if i ov'd. Am a little dubious as last time the day 21's said nada, but then i fell preg with ds2.

Side effects on clomid, am spotty (prob due to provera), but not really bad. Am having hot flushes in early hour of morning. Feeling a little wobbly but not too bad at all. Will be having a busy weekend too . Oh and i had my pre treatment blood test results and all ok, indicative of PCO but even my testosterone is relatively low 2.1 and prolactin levels ok too. so hoping this all works quickly.

Stac - thanks for support - side effects not too bad. Sounds like we are in the same boat with progesterone and 100mg clomid Glad the pynae was nice.

Mummycat - Sounds like the right thing - all that pampering. A night on your own not had that in a loong time! What is green tea good for then? Your post about the scan showing up large eggs has got me worrying the same will happen here. Now wishing the consulatnt still said to have the scan..

TishB - It does get to be a chore (but look at it as exercise ) Re the weight, i know too low or too high can have neg effect. Not my area of expertise, best speak to your consultant.

Alfie - Sorry Personally i would take the 100mg if that is what they recommend. I dont know if a higher dose would make you feel worse. I remember on 50mg i felt a bit crappy but this does hasnt knocked me much at all really (weird). Attila's post is good though.

Attila Hi. How are you doing?

Clure - How are you doing? Wow at marathon and triathlon.

Dawni - Hi, Sounds such a frustrating situation to be in. The whole unexplained diagnosis must leave you wondering which path to take. How are you doing?

Hi Awen!

My hopes are def up! I keep trying to stay cool and not get carried away though. Feel so anxious about the results of blood test - due tomorrow - Eek!

DH and I have wanted a family for so long and it has been so painful at times.

It's nice to hear about your DS2 - I was hoping someone might relate to my situation like that! Gives me hope, so thanks

BrandyBaby · 12/02/2009 02:57

Wow so many posts in such a short time!!! I LOVE IT!

mummycat1

Baby aspirin improves uterine blood flow and enhance embryo implantation.

Vitamin B6 is known for helping to normalize the reproductive hormone levels which in turn helps to lengthen the luteal phase and to minimize PMS and morning sickness.

Omega-6 fatty acid stimulates the formation of prostaglandin. Prostaglandin?s are produced by every cell in the body, and control such things as reproduction and fertility.

Robitussin helps with your cervical mucus, which is great because most women on clomid need help with that! Clomid can cause hostile cervical mucus, which will make it that much harder for the sperm to make it.

Raw baby carrots has a positive effect on cervical mucus as well.

L-carnitine is concentrated in the epididymis, where sperm mature and acquire their motility.

Grape seed Complex works with Vitamin C to make it more effective. In addition, the presence of this specific antioxidant can give additional support and protection to the sperm.

Preseed is sperm friendly personal lubricant. It provides the perfect environment for sperm while trying to conceive.

Progesterone cream should be used 72 hours after you ovulate. It balances the effects of estrogen in the body.

I hope this helps!!!

BrandyBaby · 12/02/2009 03:34

TishB

I approached my husband like this: I am doing everything that I can possibly do. I watch what I eat, take vitamins, use proper lubricants. I track my ovulation and use ovulation predictor kits. I have done all the blood work that I needed to. I am also taking clomid? which you don?t need me to remind you of all the side effects that come with it. Hunnie? I need you to do your part as well. I need you to start taking some vitamins that will help out. Plus, drink lots of water on my proper days and 8-10 minutes with a cool wash cloth. Also no caffeine or alcohol. And please if you could try very hard for me? please reduce how much you?re smoking. Thank you babe. I love you. And we make a great team!

BrandyBaby · 12/02/2009 03:49

stac14

Thanks for thinking of me! I have been feeling a little bit better. I have been really upset lately and crying a lot. Clomid makes me so emotional! Hope you are doing well!

BrandyBaby · 12/02/2009 03:59

Alfiemax

Thank you for your concern. I take 100mg of vitamin B6. At that dosage it is perfectly fine. What you are referring about is... if taking large dose of vitamin B6 (500mg or greater), yes it can affect hormonal imbalance and have adverse affects.

BrandyBaby · 12/02/2009 04:04

Awen

I know that is different... About the cool washcloth. It was his doctor and my doctor told us that the cool temperature can increase sperm count and help with mobility. Just by doing it foe a few minutes a day. So the positive outcome is to great to pass up. And I just told him to do it and he does.

stac14 · 12/02/2009 09:22

Hey awen
Good to see you back lol

Brandybaby I get like that on the clomid to, think its all the hormones flying about lol.

Well I am still waiting for the nurse to call, but they have clinic between 9 - 10 so will wait till just after 10 then I will be on the phone.
I feel quite crampy, but doubt its AF as I haven't taken one of them on my own in 10 months lol.
DP has to give an SF sample but the place it's to go to is on the other side of Glasgow and it's to be there within an hour so god knows how I am going to manage that, also its only open between 8.30 & 1pm. DP starts work at 9am and DS doesnt go to school till 9am, omg its a nightmare, why is it when you want a baby there seems to be so many obstacles (soz girls had a nightmare night so venting again lol)

I'll pop on later when I hear from the nurse jst waiting for the disappointment to set in lol
Talk soon XXX

stac14 · 12/02/2009 12:44

Hey Ladies

Disappointment came got a negative, but on the bright side I can go back on the progesterone so in about 14 days I should be taking the clomid again. Its back to the waiting game lol

Hows everone else today?
Loulabelle any news about you yet? xx

Clure · 12/02/2009 18:13

Hello hello

Hoping your all well. Wow can't believe so many posts!

Stac so sorry about your result but as you said you can now take the progesterone to get onto the clomid.

Can I just clear up as couple of posters have mentioned about me losing weight, i think I'm being mixed up with you stac. I deffo haven't lost any weight, am fairly static at 8st

Loullabelle hugs to you I (and I guess a few others out there!) know how that feeling of wanting a family really badly. I went through it too. Also i notice from the CD list above yours is CD44 can you remind me why you have a long CD cycle too?

am now CD (....blimey need my calculator to work this out) CD 39 and not a hint of feeling like a period on the horizon. I do get a bit hot flushy and am so scared its menopausal thing. Got gynae monday. Bricking it

stac14 · 12/02/2009 20:15

Hey clure
Thanks for the support, wish I was 8st lol I was before I starting seeing DP then I must have got pcos and put a lot of weight on, but over the past year I have managed to loose 2st so I am getting there (I now sound like a big fat bird, but I have to be honest I am overweight which I hate lol)

I have no CD yet but I am on progesterone day 1 lol I dont know what I am counting after the CD days.

Just glad started the progesterone, means life is kind of normal for a while.

How are you all? xxx

stac sorry for neg at least you can start provera though. This ttc is tough.

Final day of 100mg clomid here. Had a very stroppy evening and all silly. Still released the tension with a bit of rumpy pumpy. Dp laughed at me as i had me legs stuck up in the air after watching telly upside down

Remember everyone to take folic acid. Really important.

I take santagen pronatal vits, as still breastfeeding and also good for ttc and also pregnancy. Do drink grapefruit juice but not any of the otehr stuff. Lucky that dps sperm is good motility and lots of the little swimmers!

Well day 1 of nooky post clomid so we'll keep going till either period or pregnancy

OP posts:
stac14 · 12/02/2009 22:42

hey Awen
The Doc prescribed norethisterone is that the same as provera? How long do you take provera for? Its 10 days with norethisterone, just seems so long. I kind of know it was going to be positive so had prepared myself for it so not feeling too bad. Are you glad the clomid is finished? I can't wait to start again and I didn't think I would hear myself say that lol

Whats happening with everyone else? xxx

MamaMaiasaura · 12/02/2009 22:56

You still up too I just been searching for when is best to have sex etc etc. I am obsessed

Provera is progesterone but this is the best one to have when bfing. I took it for 7 days iirc. Then had to wait for period. It was so light though but at least there was some blood. Sorry about bfn again I understand the looking forward to starting it again though. Positive attitude is great xx

Started sex tonight as i reckon if we do it everyday, we wont miss ov (if it happens). Also it is good fun and nice start to the evening. lol.

Awen Dawni

All three of us are cycle buddies!!! What days and dosage are you ladies on? And how long do your cycles normally last?

loulabell07 · 13/02/2009 09:20

Hello Ladies!

my blood test result showed no sign of a pregnancy

I'm feeling for you all, this is heartbreaking stuff isn't it!

Can anyone tell me what is my next step here? I'm confused and hormones are on a riot!
My situation is that I had no Gynae propbs until in 2004 I had the depot contraception injection: which was offered to me when I went to GP to get the pill as a better alternative(!) From there on in (I only had 1 injection) I put on 3 dress sizes in 3 months (12-18) and my AF didn't appear again for a year, and is still hit and miss. the back end of 2005 DH and I seriously wanted to start a family, so both of us got checked out when after a year there was no such luck. Thankfully, DH is fine but I had suspected PCOS according to blood tests, but according to ultrasound scan - no cysts at all!?! But enlarged right ovary and fallopian tube. Blue dye test done:same no blockages, just large right tube.
After trying to loose weight and sadly not much, my gynae eventually agreed to give me clomid in Dec 08. (as you know I took ovulation test on day 13 and it was pos so when AF didnt arrive on time I optimistically stupidly got my hopes up until its all just tumbled down after GP receptionist gave me the bad news!

I'm sorry this is very long winded! I just really need your help and experience on this.
Thankyou xx

stac14 · 13/02/2009 09:28

Hi Awen
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I wonder why I haven't been given the provera, would prefer something that went quicker than 10 days lol oh well just have to grin and bear it

Whats everyone got planned for valentines day? DP and I are having the night to ourselves DS's are going to stay with his sister for the night, so think its nice dinner and bottle of wine since I know I'm nowhere near ovulating this month.

Hope everyones well xxxx

loulabell07 · 13/02/2009 09:31

Me again! I thought I ought to add to the above, that my AF is still unpredictable but cycle somtimes every 28 days, sometimes 35 and I miss 1 every 6 months or so until I do a HPT and it comes the next day! well until now .......

loulabell07 · 13/02/2009 09:37

Hi Stac

For valentines day DH is cooking. But I have a very close friend who is suffering post natal depression and to top it off her DH has left them so we have invited her to have dinner with us. We just cant bear the thought of her, in the state she is in being all alone. DH's cooking should make her !

Hope you have fun!

Clure · 13/02/2009 10:07

Hi

Anyone here have a prolapse? I have prolapse uterus and been living with it until "my family is completed"

loulabelle did you ever have a laparoscopy? I had the dye test (HSG) and a lap was going to be the next step. In between this my bloodtests showed low progesterone and I was given clomid so didn't have to go through the lap. Also have you had a full set of blood tests? And have you had your thyroid checked? just a thought

stac how long do you take the progesterone for and how long then does it take for period to come? Also wondered if taking progesterone is always successful in inducing a period. Sorry loads of questions

Awen are you able to take clomid straight away on your first period after a progersterone induced period?

Hoping all you ladies are well today. Not sure what we'll do for valentines day yet, hopefully DP will have something up his sleeve!

stac14 · 13/02/2009 10:32

Hey Clure

The one I take has to be taken for 10 days then periods comes bout 2-4 days later. It works by raising your progesterone levels while taking the tablets then your levels dramatically drop to make you take a period, which is apparantly what happens naturally to most women, as far as I know it's always successfull, and defo worked for me. Saw your question to Awen and I took clomid on my first progesterone induced period last month. Awen takes provera and I take norithesterone but I think they are pretty much the same thing.

Loulabelle
Your a wee luv doing that for your friend, I'm sure she will love being a pampered for the night. I had post-natal depression with DS so I have every sympathy for her, I to had an a**e for a partner at the time but she will get through it.

I am supposed to be starting my assessment for uni to day and so can't be bothered so I am watching jeremy kyle instead, nothing like listening to someone elses rotten life to cheer yourself up lol
