Hi just wondered if people ttc on Clomid wanted to join this thread unless i have been stupid and missed one.

We are due to fertility clinic on 22nd and expect to go on clomid again.

We have 2 dc. Ds1 is nearly 9 and was concieved without fertility help. THis was a big surprise as have PCOS and was told would never conceive naturally.

Ds2 was conceived after 1 course of clomid 50mg. My day 21 test was awful and still no period after 45ish day. Was put on progesterone to induce bleed. Didnt happen as was pregnant.

Was also on metformin but not currently, waiting for all clear next week. I have dodgy lft generally on medication and also bfing.

Ds2 is 1 now and still breastfeeding. Hoping this will not hinder any treatment as really want to continue this too. I am now 33 so fertility decreasing too.

I dont have a cd currently as all up the shoot so waiting to see what happens really.

Hi stac14 just got my biggest suitcase out to fit you in hun!!
AF came on strong today, Day4. Not heard anything from consultant at new clinic yet, I guess it will take a coupl eof weeks for my referral to get through to them, then hopefully they will write to us to let us know when/what will happen next. DH seems to think that the nurse said our first contact would only be when our number comes up for the treatment - don't thik this can be right as I'm sure they need to contact us and have us go through more tests to determine best course of action for us - anyone got any info on standard procedure or would it be different for each clinic/area.

Hi Alfiemax yep me too, I used to be over n done with AF in 5/6 days, it now drags on for almost 8/9 days because it won't start properly - must be my reaction to clomid, don't remember it being like this before
Sorry to hear about your infection, hope you get it sorted quick n easy (no trips to hospital)!

Hi Mummycat sorry the 2ww is driving you mental...everything on your list sounds like a good idea to keep your mind off it all...goodluck hun x x

Alfie knitting is not sad at all! I grew up with a knitting mad mum. I Cross -stitch and embroider - doing a humpty dumpty cushion at the mo for dd.

Clure went for mini run this eve - twas nothing compared to your runs though!

Cheeky have been for two good walks!

So list of things to keep you occupied when 2WW gets tough? Now looks like this:

  1. Have lunch with good friend
  2. Read good books - have been on mn book chat all eve - recommend it
  3. Chocolate
  4. Buy good magazine to flick through
  5. Work extra hard
  6. Browse catologues and choose new outfit for "oh no I got my AF cheer you up treat"
  7. More chocolate!
  8. Run/walk - do sporty stuff
  9. Get creative (erm knit or sew or bake a cake etc.)
10. Gardening does it for me too.

Giving up chocolate as of tomorrow (not for religious reasons) I just think it's time to stop snacking post Christmas and want my old clothes to fit properly again!!

Hey all
New to the site and have some questions, i finished my 2nd month of clomid at the beginning of the month. First month i had 35 days between period and didnt ovulate. this month my pogesterone level come back at 60 yayayyyyyyyyyy yesterday started spotting hardly anything day 27, tonight again slight spotting day 28 any ideas? is this normal?
Advice appreciated

mummycat1 · 24/02/2009 21:39

That's what we're here for Alfie

Tish I had to have bloods done and DH had to have sperm checked before we could get an appointment. The tests themselves were organised via our GP. The clinic I'm at won't accept a referral until certain tests have been done first. Unfortunately for me Dr who did original referral didn't really seem to care and did none of these things - he then retired and I was rejected which slowed things up by a few frustrating months! Hope you hear soon.

All's good here - though have been tearful a couple of times over last few days and got a bit anxious earlier. However, I'm having training at work on Thurs so that I can then train others and it feels good to have been chosen and be appreciated.

baby dust to everyone

mummycat1 · 24/02/2009 21:41

Hello Lisylou - sounds like you got you AF hon, but on the upside that means you definitely ov'd. I'm on month three of Clomid second time round. First time round I ov'd day 16 and conceived - this time I'm not ov'ing on my own and am being given an HCG shoteach month - no joy so far. I also have scans on day 12 to check for any action - speak to your clinic

Lisylou1980 · 24/02/2009 21:44

sorry for being thick wats AF? i aint picked up on all the short cuts yet.
I did ring gyny today and they told me to do a test and if neg then start my 3rd lot of tabs

TishB · 24/02/2009 21:52

Hi Lisylou AF = Aunty Flo (your period)!!!

mummycat i haven't seen my gp since i was referred to hospital(gynae) back in June/July last year. I have had all tests/scans/xrays through the womens health dept. and my gynae cons. and they then prescribed me clomid. As our local hospital doesn't do IVF or anything further they have referred us to another nearby hospital where they do. I'm pretty sure my GP knows nothing about what's going on! It's confusing, I would have thought there was a standard practice/procedure throughout England!!

Anyway, I know someone who is with this clinic at the moment, she says they are quite quick to get in touch and start proceedings so fingers crossed we're not waiting too long.

'Night all and lotsa babydust sprinkling your way x x

Lisylou1980 · 24/02/2009 21:56

Ah thanks tish, god i'm thick!!!!
i'm getting fed up of waiting now its just dragging me more and more down. We've been ttc for 14 months but after 9 months the gyny finally found that i've got PCOS and also endometriosis so not a good combi! they drilled my ovaries for the PCOS but they buggered up in op and never fixed the Endo, me and my partner decided to continue trying instead of another op as the endo is in a bad postion and a hysterectomy has already been discussed! fingers crossed for next month as if it doesnt happen in the next 2 months its gotta be put on hold for another 6 months

BrandyBaby · 24/02/2009 22:43

Hello Ladies

Today is cycle day 18 for me! I?m really excited this month... I hope that this could be the month for me. And of course for all you ladies as well. How is everyone doing?

MamaMaiasaura · 24/02/2009 23:01

Hi guys

Sorry i disappeared for a few day, been busy with half term and now dp has gone to belgium till thursday night. Cant believe cd18 now. Is this now the 2ww? yikes. I am trying not to get hopes up and telling myself i didnt ov (though i hope i did ) because i just dont want to be too dissappointed. It is only first round this time and though it worked quick last time it doesnt mean it will again. THis PCOS is a real bitch isnt it? Just wish i had a 'normal' body and didnt have to mess with all this stuff.

Attila - thanks for info again i appreciate you giving advice as you've been there and also very well researched.

Alfie - fingers crossed you did ov. Know what you mean in the wanting to know a yes or no if ov'd.

Brandy - sorry if my comments re breastfeeding were insensitive. Not meant to 'rub it in' that i already have children. Just am aware that this would have affect on med. Glad you have good faith in your doctor and hope it works out for you too. I think i am feeling a little emotional myself as feel i have to justify why i want another child even though i have 2 wonderful boys.

Tish - sorry that period came (hugs) The hol sounds fab though... room for us too??

mummycat - love the list.. add mumsnetting to it

Lisylou - Hi and welcome, re the spotting I would wait and see. Dont want to get hopes up but if you have a 35 day cycle usually on clomid could be implantation bleed. Did they say wether you ov'd? Fingers crossed for you.

I have blood test this friday and am kind of dreading it incase it comes back and says i didnt ov. Despite me gearing myself up for disappointment i have worked out what the due date would be 10th Nov ish and been day dreaming about it all...

Hey ladies,
About the baby aspirin, I read about it online and Brandybaby has loads of info on it, I asked my nurse if it would be ok to take and she didnt see a problem. I will phone the consultant to double check but the dosage I bought are 1 a day 75mg good for blood thinning so will have to wait and see.
Hi lislou, welcome to the thread.

Cheers for finding a big suitcase for me,tish tell me when and where lol

mummycat you are so organised for your 2ww wait, think I will be busy studying during mine so that should sort me out lol

Alfie, sorry to hear about you having to go to the clinic, does your doctor or local hospital not offer a family planning clinic, our local health centre has it and they do all the checks there. Rotten nurse has a 2 week waiting list ours does a drop in from 9-10 and 2-4 weird how different centres work

Fingers crossed its your month brandybaby well for all of us really

Hope everyone else is well xxxx

AttilaTheMeerkat · 25/02/2009 07:39

Lisylou,

Re your comments:-
"We've been ttc for 14 months but after 9 months the gyny finally found that i've got PCOS and also endometriosis so not a good combi!"

No it is not but it is still not completely hopeless (I have both endo and PCOS and am a parent following surgery).

"they drilled my ovaries for the PCOS but they buggered up in op and never fixed the Endo, me and my partner decided to continue trying instead of another op as the endo is in a bad postion and a hysterectomy has already been discussed!".

What type of op did they exactly do, if it was a lap sometimes this is used only as a diagnostic tool. They could and should have diathermised the endo as well.

I would (and did!) ask the surgeon exactly how much experience they have in doing such an op beforehand. Never be afraid to ask such a question.

I'd seriously look into getting a second opinion now. A hysterectomy is not always the treatment of choice for endometriosis these days and your ovaries would need to be removed at the same time should a hyst be performed. Also endo can recur post hyst so its not always the option of choice.

"fingers crossed for next month as if it doesnt happen in the next 2 months its gotta be put on hold for another 6 months"

Would seek a second opinion in the meantime.

Two websites for you that may be of interest:-

www.endo.org.uk

Good luck!

Attila

Morning all,

Awen they said i had ovulated my pogesterone (cant spell) level was 60. i havent got a clue when i did ovulate though.I'm totally confused as have no bleeding again today and if it is my AF need to start taking my clomid, oh so confused.

Attila They did a lap, but they cut a blood vessel trying to get to the endo and it took an hour and half to get back under control, i was in a bad way. Because she knew we were trying for a baby thats why she has put me on the clomid and she said the pregnancy could get rid of the endo (dont belive it myself) touch wood the only time i have pain is the week leading up to my AF now which is why i am even more confused about this bleed coz no pain!!!!

Thanks for your support i'm really glad i found this site
Lisa x

stac14 · 25/02/2009 09:27

Hey lisa
I agree with attila my sister-in-law was advised to get a hysterectomy as her endo was so severe but she has been left with far more complications and the menopause now, so she is the first to advise against it. Sometimes docs seem to only look at what is the easiest option rather than most helpful. Regarding the spotting have you called your consultant to advise you if it is af or not, at least then you know what to do.

How are we today ladies? I have had lots of cramp but no af What do I do if it doesnt come?? Anyone else been in this situation?

Thanks xxx

Lisylou1980 · 25/02/2009 09:41

Hi Stac,
I wont be doing anything i'm not up for a hyst!!!!! if theres still a slightest chance i can get preg i will do all i can to get there.
i phoned gyny yesterday she said do a test if your not preg then start taking next course of clomid, but i dont feel i want to start next lot of tabs as i'm just spotting!!! thats why so confused and also if it could be a implantation bleed then it may be to early to show on a test! Thanks

stac14 · 25/02/2009 09:57

its too confusing, how many cycles of clomid have you had? When af arrives this will be my second I didn't ov on 50mg so was upped to 100mg cant wait to get started again

Lisylou1980 · 25/02/2009 10:00

i've done 2, first time didnt ovulate, second time i did my levels were at 60 which is quite high. i just really dont no hwat to do why arent these things explained clearly

AttilaTheMeerkat · 25/02/2009 10:16

Hi Lisylou,

Re your comment:-

"Attila They did a lap, but they cut a blood vessel trying to get to the endo and it took an hour and half to get back under control, i was in a bad way. Because she knew we were trying for a baby thats why she has put me on the clomid and she said the pregnancy could get rid of the endo (dont belive it myself) touch wood the only time i have pain is the week leading up to my AF now which is why i am even more confused about this bleed coz no pain!!!!"

I am shocked to read this. The lap as well seemed also to be a purely diagnostic which if it was would incur more surgery afterwards.

Did they talk to you at all about the lap's findings, were your ovaries diathermised or was that not done?.

The clomid as well will not get rid of the endo deposits. The pain in the week leading up to AF could well be endometriosis.

The spotting should be checked out further to ascertain the cause.

You should be aware too that clomid is not always suitable for all PCOS patients to take, you should be monitored whilst on it with either/or blood tests and ultrasounds.

Would seek a second opinion as a matter of course and would seek advice from a cons gynae at a major subfertility unit in the city nearest you. You need to find a gynae with a specialist interest in endo and up to date knowledge. It is fair to say that some NHS units are far better than others. Think you have been very poorly served to date and you will need to be persistant in order to get answers.

Lisylou1980 · 25/02/2009 10:21

no all they told me straight after the op was that they drilled the ovaries and when they were going to the endo they cut a blood vessel and because it took so long to get under control she didnt feel confident to go on further, i think she will operate to try sort it but as i want a baby so much she wanted me to try this option first.
i have my blood tests on day 21 but thats about it. i really dont no what to do now or where to go.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 25/02/2009 10:28

I would still seek a second opinion (your GP can refer you to another gynae unit) and find a more qualified and experienced surgeon to perform any further surgery. I asked the surgeon outright what experience he had (you have every right to do this) and he told me.

Do ask questions of them (am sure you do already) and take nothing on blind faith.

You're having day 21 tests but they should be testing you around day 3 to see what your LH and FSH levels are like. They could also do internal ultrasound scans to see if an egg is leaving the ovary. Clomid can increase levels of LH and can impede fertilisation in some cases; this is also why it should be given with a degree of caution to PCOS patients.

Lisylou1980 · 25/02/2009 10:34

yeah i think i'm going to have to see someone else, there is another gyny at the hosp who i had last time and he was brillant. i will see what the outcome is this month, my partner is off to afghan in april as hes in the army, so when he gets back we will be going for it again so might be a good time to get referred to someone else then. thanks for the advice.
do you think i should go with the flow and se what happenes with the spotting, or should i start talking tablets?

stac14 · 25/02/2009 10:57

Lisa you can change when you take the clomid I have heard of people taking it cd 5 - 9 so you could hold off, are you not spotting quite early?

MamaMaiasaura · 25/02/2009 12:35

If there is any doubt and you may be pregnant dont take clomid as it can cause fetal abnormalities I didnt know i was pregnant after first course but thankfully found out before starting clomid 2nd round.
