MamaMaiasaura · 16/01/2009 23:09

Hi just wondered if people ttc on Clomid wanted to join this thread unless i have been stupid and missed one.

We are due to fertility clinic on 22nd and expect to go on clomid again.

We have 2 dc. Ds1 is nearly 9 and was concieved without fertility help. THis was a big surprise as have PCOS and was told would never conceive naturally.

Ds2 was conceived after 1 course of clomid 50mg. My day 21 test was awful and still no period after 45ish day. Was put on progesterone to induce bleed. Didnt happen as was pregnant.

Was also on metformin but not currently, waiting for all clear next week. I have dodgy lft generally on medication and also bfing.

Ds2 is 1 now and still breastfeeding. Hoping this will not hinder any treatment as really want to continue this too. I am now 33 so fertility decreasing too.

I dont have a cd currently as all up the shoot so waiting to see what happens really.

millymolly Having a period doesn't necessarily mean you won't be given clomid (if thats the right course of action for you) I was having very erratic and not many periods and I was prescribed clomid. I was also offered a progesterone tablet which can bring on a period. I think stac and a couple of other ladies are taking progesterone so they may be able to tell you more about that.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 18/02/2009 08:13

BrandyBaby

That's quite alright.

BWT do you have a diagnosis of the underlying problem?.

loulabell07 · 18/02/2009 09:08

Good morning Ladies!

Awen - thanks for getting back with that info for me. I feel better now.
When my AF comes, I have been asked to call the medical team, so I will be asking about increasing my dose.
I'm pretty sure it won't be long either. The cramps are are getting worse! I will be glad of it though! I'm eager to get back on track!

Can I ask for a reminder of where everyone else is in their cycle, and how everyone is feeling about how they're getting on, please?

Take care everyone!

MamaMaiasaura · 18/02/2009 10:29

attila - thanks for the input, i remember how much you helped last time as well. Sorry that the clomid didnt work for you I think my pcos isnt too severe as my testostorone was only 2.1 so it is steadier than it was pre ds2. Does that happen do you know? as in can pcos improve?

Milly - am surprised your gp said there is nothing they can give you to bring on period. They rountinely use progesterone, i would write down all these questions for fertility clinic. I did this first time round and it really helped.

Brandybaby - I am on 100mg clomid cd2-6 this round. I have had some 'stringy' cm today so hoping this means its working. Been having sex everynight and legs stuck up in the air for at least 15 mins with bottom raised.. the things we do.

Is everyone remebering to take folic acid?

Roll call...

AlfieMax CD9
Awen CD12 on 1st round 100mg clomid.
brandybaby CD12
Dawni CD12
Mummycat CD18
Tishb - CD24
clure CD46
Loulabelle - CD50
stac14 CD - Day 6 Progesterone

Is that right??

Hi

Awen you are so organised! I hadn't a clue about my CD day! How long after your due period day will you do preg test?

I've just been to GP and have got my prescription for first cycle of clomid. 50mg on day 2-6. just waiting for period now!

stac14 · 18/02/2009 14:42

Hey millymolly
your gp can give you somethng to start your period, mine did even before I had seen the specialist, do you have a diagnosis as to why you haven't taken a period? Awen and I are both prescribed progesterone tablets as we don't take periods often. As for not taking a period yourself the consultant will still prescribe clomid as they did for me. Awen is right, best write a list for the consultant, makes you far more prepared, I wrote one and forgot to take it with me so forgot all the stuff I wanted to ask lol.

Well ladies the progesterone is making me feel quite low this month, was wondering if anyone else has had this? I may need to speak to the doc again.

XXX

millymolly83 · 18/02/2009 15:39

well stac and awen i ov got no eggs at all so thats why am not haveing a period. hope they will give it to me still

stac14 · 18/02/2009 18:35

Hey millymolly I dont ovulate either, so no periods, they have gave me the progesterone to induce periods and clomid to help me ovulate. Think because you were successful on clomid before there shouldn't be any problems getting it again. Did you see the consultant last time it was prescribed?

Hey Awen brandy dawni clure attila loulabelle mummycat how are you all feeling today?
I was a bit rotten earlier but feeling better now.
How are you alfiemax hope your ok, have you decided your paln of action yet?
xxx

Alfiemax · 18/02/2009 18:44

Evening Ladies,

Sorry I haven't been on for a few days. I haven't really got much to say this month lol.

TishB I hope you're appointment went well today and you went armed with loads of questions. X

Hope everyone else is good and I have been reading everyday and it's lovely to see so much chatting going on here at the moment.

Attila you have so much knowledge of the TTC, PCO and Clomid, have you done alot of research or gained lots of experience? Just wondered as you do seem very informative. It's nice to have that.

So 3 of you are at the same stage at the mo? OOooh it's all exciting isn't it.

BrandyBaby can I ask why you are so intruiged as to when people take clomid and the dosage? I onlt ask as I was wondering if you think it makes a difference what CD it's taken on? I have also wondered this myself.

I am waiting to ov now, it's should be in the next 2-3 days, seem to have had EWCM since the end of my period? Weird body I have. Feeling really low at the moment, wondering if it's a late side effect of the clomid? Probably not and it's just a case of me being a miserable cow. I could really really do with a few days off work but we have just started training for a new job role and I can't have any time off, there is another 3 weeks after this one so no chance for a while yet

Well I'll pop back in a bit. Good Luck to everyone waiting to ov and those on the dreaded 2WW.

BabyDust to all ~~~~~ XX

Clure · 18/02/2009 19:34

Alfie good to hear from you. Really hope next couple of days are positive for you. I'm enjoying half term and having some fund with DD

stac thanks I'm ok just waiting for period. Hope you're feeling better now. I'm doing a half marathon in a few weeks and wondering how this will coincide with everything else. I may not have even begun clomid by then!!

Tish forgot you'd got your appointment. how'd it go?

I'm so appreciating all your support and knowledge on this thread - thanks

Hoping you are all well Brandy, Attila, Loullabelle, mummycat, Awen, milly, Dawni and anyone else I forgot

stac14 · 18/02/2009 20:00

Hey alfiemax
Good to hear from you, I hated the 2ww wait last time, think this time it will be cd21 bloods lol. Did you take the clomid this cycle?

millymolly83 · 18/02/2009 21:06

ye saw the consultant last time. but i was ov one egg and geting periods ever 2 to3 months but they have found this time am not releaseing even one this time so i have not had a period since sep stac. hope they give me something.

Alfiemax · 18/02/2009 21:08

Hi Stac,

Nope didn't take it and I'm half and half as to whether I regret that decision or not. I'm glad I didn't as I really do not feel emotionally or physically up to it this month, but in a way I wish I had now because it must be better to be consistant rather than stop start plus I know it def had some effect on me last cycle, though not a wholy positive effect. So yeah a bit up and down really.
But I shall be taking it next xyxle, still at 50mg then will increase the dose the next cycle.
Thanks for asking hun. XX

millymolly83 · 18/02/2009 21:09

hi stac do the forgot to ask do they give you clomid the same time as the thing to bring on a period. and do u take it at the same time

stac14 · 18/02/2009 21:23

Hey alfiemax
I read somewhere clomid has a carry on effect, so can still help on the month you are off it, so you never know you may have a bfp. Think its hard being positive while taking so many lotions and potions, the things we do fo babies XX

Hi millymolly
You take the norethisterone for 10 days or provera for 7 days then you take a period and you take clomid during your period usually cd2-6. I dont ovulate either, I stopped the pill in April last year and didnt take a period until the doc gave me norethisterone in January. Is it polycystic ovaries you have? thats the diagnosis I have, the docs think its been quite recent as I had ds naturally nearly 10 years ago. What age are your twins?

TishB · 18/02/2009 22:10

Hi Stac14 was thinking of giving reiki a go so may as well go n have some reflexology - at least it might help to relaw me a little!!
Sorry I haven't been on, was busy trying to get my list sorted yesterday for todays appointment! Guess what happened, I met someone different under my gynae team and was ready to charge in with my list but was promptly told that they would not be giving me anymore clomid and I am being referred to another clinic as assisted conception is my next best option (IUI/IVF)!

I was stunned! Glad that I am not having any more clomid as 7 months of it and no concieving means that although it has helped me ovulate it's not really worked. They don't want to give me a higher dosage as I was ovulating on 50mg. SO...have we filled in our form for NHS treatment and have been referred to another clinic so will now wait for them to write to us regarding next step (3/4 weeks)!
I did ask how long the waiting list is and nurse told me it's a lot lower now - between 6/8 months! Which I am prepared to wait.

So, I guess I don't qualify for this thread anymore??? If you guys don't mind I'd like to hang around...am hoping that the time between now and my first IUI/IVF treatment will be a lot more relaxed and easy-going and maybe, just maybe things might happen naturally.

Thanks for asking Stac14 and everyone else that replied regarding reiki/rexlexology/acupuncture.

loulabell07 my cousin who has also been ttc for over 5 years spent lots of £££££'s on having acupuncture and chinese herbs to help fertility 0 no luck. It has left me dubious - but I guess different things work for different poeple, just didn't work for her - moght look into it, although not going to go n spend too much on it!!

MamaMaiasaura · 18/02/2009 22:32

Clure - fantastic that your gp getting you started. Are they going to give you anything to induce period if you have negative preg test? Are they going to monitor you? I was on 50mg first time round for ds2.

satc14 poor you, sounds like you are having a hard time on the progesterone but glad you feeling a bit better. Is it another 4 days worth? You can do it xx

Alfie Normal to feel a bit all those hormones are going round the mill. Hadnt realised you'd taken a month off the clomid but it might be just what your body needed.

tishb Glad that you managed to get some clear plan of action from your appointment. Of course stay around, this whole ttc is a tough ride and good to have people to chat to. I used to think that getting pregnant would be so easy.. I was so wrong. x

millymolly doesnt mean you dont have eggs if you dont ov. Just means they arent being released and may need some help.

OP posts:
stac14 · 18/02/2009 22:43

tish thats great news about your plan, at least they are taking positive steps to help you. As you say you may get there naturally while waiting. . Hope your going to stay online for a gab

awen Thanks for the encouragement, ds has been unwell and I have an assessment due for uni which I have no clue about so I may just be putting myself under pressure.

off to bed ladies night to all xxxx

millymolly83 · 18/02/2009 22:47

BrandyBaby · 19/02/2009 06:46

Attila

Actually my doctor thinks I?m putting to much pressure on myself. She says that I?m stressing myself out and that in time I will become pregnant. She also informed me that, because I was on birth control pills for 6 years... That my body needs to adjust and could take 14-18 months to become pregnant. I have had all the proper blood work done and tests, and everything came back good. My husband also had his sperm count and mobility checked and he is all good as well. We tried 7 months on our own, then my doctor gave me a script of clomid. What about you?

Awen

This is month I did: day 1-100mg, day 2-100mg, day 3-150mg, day 4-100mg, day 5-50mg. And I took clomid on days 1-5 this month instead of last month when I did clomid 100mg on days 3-7. Have you ever gotten pregnant from taking before by taking clomid? I have been taking this mucus x stuff (generic brand of mucinex) its 400mg in each tablet and I take one pill from cycle days 7- 17. I also take 2 tablespoons of robitussin from cycle days 7-17.And yes I take prenatal vitamin and that has all the folic acid that is required for each day. (I have done 4 months 50mg on days 5-9, last month 100mg on day 3-7)

Stac

I haven?t ovulated yet (cd 12) well actually today is cycle day 13, but it?s really early in the morning. I ovulated last month on cd 14 & 15. So I am pretty positive I will ovulate around the same time this month.

Alfiemax

You have noticed that I am trying to get everyone information... Because I do feel that the days and dosage does effect ones chances of conceiving and how many month ttc. I have made a list of 30 women that conceived on clomid and what days & dosage they took, and what the outcome was. I just like keeping track. Plus, if someone else is doing something a little different from me and gets pregnant- I want to what and how! We are both on cd 12! We should both be ovulating within the next 3 days!!! I have heard from other women when the month they take a break from clomid... That is the month they get pregnant! So think positive!!!

Clure

Running a half marathon?! Wow... Good for you! I do have to ask... Did you ask your doctor about working out and strenuous activity? Because my doctor told me not to over do it and not to be lifting heavy thing as well. I was just wondering ...

TishB

You definitely need to stay on this thread! We are all in the same boat here! I?m telling you that the 5-6 months that you have to wait on a list... That is when you will get pregnant!!!! I know it. You wont be stressing and it will just happen. Stay positive and just don?t worry now.

millymolly

How many months were you on clomid before you got pregnant with your twins? What dosage & days? My mother told me that there was a drug that was given to mothers that kept on having miscarriages (DES). And there was reports that female babies that were conceived by women that have taken this drug in their lifetime, actually passed down infertility down to only female babies. My grandmother took this drug. So I don?t know if this could apply to any of us ladies on here. I just though I would share with everyone.

Hello everyone
I remember when I was younger and a teenager... I use to think that getting pregnant would happen be having unprotected sex one time. I use to be so terrified that I could become pregnant in high school and college. And now years later I find out that it is actually hard to conceive! We have been lied too... By our parents, teachers, and society. And now that I want a baby, a family... And am ready emotionally, financially, and now that I?m married... Its not happening!!! I just hope that one day I will be able to be a mother. BABY DUST TO ALL!!!!!!!!! AND LOTS OF BABY DUST TO ME!!!!!!!!!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 19/02/2009 07:31

Brandybaby

Realise you're in the US; what sort of fertility doc are you under?. Is it one of these ob/gyn people?. I ask this as some of them seem to only do basic tests and that's their limit. BCP's actually leave the system very quickly after taking the last tablet. (Depo though is another matter entirely). I just wonder why she thought it was necessary for you to go onto clomid if there was indeed definitive proof of ovulation (because clomid can have the reverse effect if ovulation is happening).
That's what I would query with her now. I am also wondering why your clomid dosage is going up and down unless of course you have been medically advised to do that.

The other thing I would say is that any test result done over six months ago should be discounted. Up to date test results on both parties are needed.

I was on BCP's for far longer than six years but my problems were not due to taking the pill (no, no, no!); infact all the pill did was mask the symptoms of the underlying problems. I was eventually diagnosed with both PCOS (that was the first diagnosed) and endometriosis all over the uterine cavity (following surgery). Saw the photos!. Became pg (!) following the surgery I underwent and have a child whose 10. Am not actively ttc any more; am too old now, would need yet more surgery and my body's insides are too shot!!. That's a very brief summary of what happened; does not describe all the emotions for instance (which went all across the board from feelings of failure to joy).

Have had to educate myself re PCOS and endo (had never heard of either prior to diagnosis) and have had many of the tests etc done during my fertility treatment. What I write is based on both fact and personal experience of tests.

If I can help anyone through my counsel (even if it only makes them want to ask their gynae more questions re their treatment) then that's great. Only wish MN was around when I was going through treatments.

stac14 · 19/02/2009 10:52

Atilla I just want to say that what you are doing by helping all of us is a very generous and kinf thing to do. You have answered many questions for me that seemed to be being ignored by the professionals, so thank you for that.

Brandybaby Did your consultant advise the herbal medication? I am just wondering if it is owrth me asking my gp about it.

DS was supposed to be back at school today but he is still unwell, think he is going back tomorrow even if it is Friday lol. It is a lovely sunny day here today so he will be trying to go out with friends later but theres no chance lol.
How are you all today?

loulabell07 · 19/02/2009 10:54

Hi Everyone!

Seems like alot of us have been feeling low lately. I know I am! The stress and the hormones effect us alot in times like this! But we must keep going! Hopefully soon we will all have good reason to smile!!

I'm confused..My AF seemed to start again yesterday but this morning it's gone!?! This has never happened to me before..Does it sound familiar to anyone else? I'm only asking because it meant I had to call my consultants medical team at the hospital yesterday - and they have increased my dose from 50mg to 100mg from today! But as AF has disappeared I dont know what to do! Lol! Any advice welcome!!

TishB · 19/02/2009 20:34

Just thought I'd say hi to everyone and thank you all soo soo much for the kind words n support, I definately will stick around and see how everyone's getting on...

Just got back form work so wanted to just say a quick hello but will check in later

Lots od babydust to all!

PS I have no idea what was wrong yesterday but I threw up like never before last night!!! It must have been the stress of the day - had a hard time accepting the fact that IUI/IVF is the only option left for us!

I think my mum was being over-optimistic and thought it may be early signs of a BFP! I very much doubt it (i'm feeling very down and all doom n gloomy about my whole situation - will explain later.
