Pinky and Perky are now cartoon instead of the cute little puppets that they used to be.

rowingboat · 24/12/2008 23:19

Noooo! They are puppets! It's wrong!
Mind you I do like the cartoon Noddy, slightly more than the puppety one.
Merry Christmas everyone!!!
Have a fabulous festive season!

rowingboat · 29/12/2008 11:48

Hellooo, anyone about????
We are all iiiillll! Horrible cold/cough/shivery thing. Yuck!
This is day 28 for us. Nothing yet, but am all ready for AF.

FertilityFiend · 29/12/2008 12:26

Hi Rowing - yes I'm here Bummer re your lurgy. I'm currently mumsnetting suffering in bed with a cold as DH is here to do childcare

Hope all had a good Christmas I did, indulged excessively, then had weird stomach cramps in the evening, which was most likely trapped wind or something, but could of course have been a symptom ...

7 dpo here, temp was high this morning, but that would be my illness

btw Andy Pandy's a cartoon now too But he does have an interesting voiceover man, possibly Tom Conti (or did I make that up )

How is everyone else?

rowingboat · 29/12/2008 12:48

Oh yes, Andy Pandy, that's quite funny! Not sure who does that voice, but will pay attention next time.
Oh dear Fiend, that's not good, being in bed ill. I hope you feel better soon.
Rhetorician coined the term 'sphamptoms' for those symptoms real or (mostly) imagined.
I'm not sure that temping works when you aren't well, but you never know. Fingers crossed just in case.

FertilityFiend · 29/12/2008 13:49

Thank you Rowing.

I'm feeling a bit better now actually, having just breakfasted on a handful of Celebrations and a couple of mugs of hot water with a wedge of lime and a teaspoon of Manuka honey [fponce]
(I do hate lemsip)

sussexoldspot · 29/12/2008 22:45

Hello, everyone!

Just ducking in to wish you all a very happy and fertile 2009!

Ilovechristmas · 30/12/2008 13:02

Hi all, hope you dont mind me popping in ? I have posted on some other boards, but unfortunately none the wiser, so thought I would try here. I am 47 and just gone thru the weirdest of times. About 6 weeks ago I started feeling very nauseas especially around food, the mention of food and driving etc. I missed a period and then had the horrid taste in my mouth, my body just smelt pregnant. If you have been lucky enough to have been pg you will know what I mean! I am not going barmy, I have a family already and never wanted to be pg again. I bled for a couple of days two weeks ago, but it stopped suddenly after a couple of days. I then started cramping this weekend and still am losing blood and clots. Yesterday was very painful, today is better but still blood and clots. The symptoms of pg have subsided significantly. The thing is all tests have been negative, including a blood test which also confirms no menopause and organs as normal. I have persuaded the dr to let me see the female dr there who will do an internal next week and hopefully either a scan or referal to a gynacologist. Is there anyone out there who has experienced similar?? xxx

rowingboat · 30/12/2008 13:47

Hi Ilove, I'm sorry to hear that you have been through such a stressful time. I haven't experienced anything like this, sounds a bit like a miscarriage, but I haven't had one so can't really be any more helpful.
Are you TTC?
AF arrived yesterday, as expected!

Ilovechristmas · 30/12/2008 14:18

Hi rowinboat! We werent TTC but with all that has happened are feeling disappointed, one more wouldnt have made any difference lol! I had my coil removed about 18 months ago and due to lack of privacy (kids!!) and my OH travelling alot, never thought it would happen again. I spoke to the dr this morning who I am sure, thinks Im barmy as my hcg levels are normal?? What has confirmed it for me is the lack of symptoms since I started bleeding on sunday. I feel I have no got to get to the bottom of it to prove my sanity!!
We would like to try again, if it happens it happens, which is another reason for wanting to know what is going on with my body. The female dr Im seeing next week isnt a very good listener, but I am going to push for the scan or gynae as I am really sad about it all. It has kind of spoilt our xmas aswell as I was feeling so sick and tired all the time, if it had been a positive outcome, it would have been worth it.
Are you actively trying? xx

FertilityFiend · 30/12/2008 15:43

Sorry to hear about AF Rowing Go for that leftover xmas booze and choc stash big stylee... Are you temping (sorry if I've asked before)? If so do you know what your luteal phase is like?

Hi Ilovechristmas - sorry to hear about the difficult time you're been having. I haven't had a similar experience myself, the only other thing I can think (if you had negative pregnancy tests all along) is that it may possibly have been an anovulatory cycle. That is where (for whatever reason) your body skips an ovulation so your cycle gets messed up. It often results in an abnormally long cycle, at the end of which you get bleeding. If this was the case (and this is pure conjecture on my part) it may be that your body had higher than usual progesterone levels due to the long cycle. As progesterone is high in your body during pregnancy as well as just before your period the effects can be quite similar I think, including nausea, bloating, skin breakouts, constipation, etc, so that could possibly go some way to explaining your symptoms.

Of course miscarriage could be another explanation, but without knowing when you tested etc it's hard to say. Anyway hope the doctor can be more help. Good luck

Curlylox · 30/12/2008 15:54

ok ok an update......a few things holding us back from TTC at the mo

  • credit crunch my DH in construction and things are a little shaky
  • have back probs, had MRI seeing consultant next week for results
  • for sake of my back have been trying to drop some weight

so will keep you posted but good luck to all

Ilovechristmas · 30/12/2008 16:44

hi FF, thanks for the input, certainly worth a google! Would it last for a month though? The problem is I have never actually recorded my cycle, but I am difinately keeping a record from now on! This has completely baffled me. My tummy is still quite large (Im slim so it shows) however in general, I feel much better apart from slight nausea and that taste in the mouth, but that is going. Also (and please read no further if you are about to eat), my bleeding smells like the sort of blood that you pass after childbirth. Im not sure if it does smell like that or is the senses that make it smell like that?? I have learnt so much though from reading up on here and on the net about ovulation! I dont know how I managed to have kids before?? xx

FertilityFiend · 30/12/2008 18:06

ilovechristmas - lol know what you mean, I'm staggered that I ever conceived DD as I knew so little about my body then. But I guess that's the way it's meant to work!

It may be helpful to have a look on Fertility Friend ( www.fertilityfriend.com ) - they have a Chart Gallery section where you can search different types of chart (ovulatory, pregnancy, anovulatory, miscarriage). Some of the anovulatory cycles are over 70 days long (some much shorter). Also some (not all) of the charts seem to show very elevated temps (and therefore progesterone levels). I should stress btw that I'm NOT an expert of any sort (just a psychotic googler on conception for the last few months ) nor am I anything to do with the above site despite my name!

Curlylox - fingers crossed for a much better 2009 for you

Ilovechristmas · 30/12/2008 18:53

Hi FF,none of us our experts (Im guessing?? lol) but it helps to chat about it as you never know there might just be someone who has gone thru similar or my probs may help someone else.
I googled, but it doesnt give any symptoms or say it may mimic pregnancy? I will check the FF site out though as I said definately charting from now on Thanks for the good wishes, I wish I wish you every success in 2009! Im guessing your are TTC aswell or just enjoy the banter of this site? I sneaked in and had a look at the menopause forums, I laughed out loud, the thread was so funny!! xx

rhetorician · 30/12/2008 18:58

hello all (festive wave); second all the wishes for an epically fertile 2009 for all of us. Probably like some of the rest of you, 2009 is my last chance saloon (will be 43 in Feb) for conception - this is really for the sake of my sanity rather than anything else. I know there are some folks still going well beyond that and I wish them the very best. So I shall raise a glass or several tomorrow to all our soon to be BFPs and lovely healthy babes

rowingboat · 31/12/2008 12:58

Hi Rhet Sweetie, who knows??!!
I feel quite positive about 2009, but not entirely sure about what or why? Must just be the sense of a fresh start, plus we are going to be having a crack at IVF.
Fiend I don't temp, but do use FF and have used OPKs and check CM. I'm pretty sure I have a 13/14 day luteal phase based on that lot. I have had two day 21 tests carried out at the beginning of this year and both were normal. I think that means it is a regular LP, but I would be very interested to hear your take on this. [interested face]
I think I will try to temp this time, but am not going to even bother trying to take it in bed, probably just after I get up. I know this is not ideal, but I can't do it first thing because DS is jumping on me shouting that he wants breakfast and I find that rather distracting.
I think my main/only problem is age and knackered tubes, but there could be something else. I am probably too fat as well, because I have been pg twice and both times I was pretty fit and pretty slim.
So will be starting a run next week, when I get over this flu/cold that we all have here.

FertilityFiend · 31/12/2008 17:05

Just a quickie to wish everyone a supremely Happy (and Fertile) New Year!!

Rowing - 13-14 day luteal phase sounds great, and afaik if you're getting clear opk results each month and tying that in with ewcm then that's a pretty good guideline to when you're ovulating. I don't know much about the 21 day stuff (I guess it's progesterone levels?) but that all sounds good too! Oh and if you do temp in the mornings I'd advise doing it well after (or preferably before) bathing/showering as that sends my temp haywire!

Hi Rhet - Cheers and chin up girl I'm feeling pretty last chance saloonish tho' too, tbh I'm not feeling very hopeful now at all given that we're almost certainly not going for interventions. BUT of course you never know, do you... here's to 2009.

ilovechristmas - hmm I really don't know re the pg symptoms, I was just going on the fact that some of the anovulatory charts seemed to show high temps towards the end of the cycle (and therefore high progesterone). But some of them don't... so it's inconclusive really, prob best to just see what the doc says. Did you do any home pg tests? Do stick around for a chat and let us know how you get on

And btw yes, we're all trying to conceive on this thread, though there are a couple having a break at the moment for various reasons I think.

Well AF cramps are setting in here already, so I reckon she'll show her face for NY. Or I could adopt the positive approach and assume they are implantation sphamptoms, at least for now

Ilovechristmas · 31/12/2008 22:47

Hi FF, I will stick around and let you know what the dr says. Still having nausea and the bleeding stopped today. All pg test have been negative. I am going to push for a scan, I need to know what has happened to me these last few weeks, I have had ALL pg symptoms including the horrid taste in my mouth and nausea when smelling stuff etc etc. Anyway, enough moaning, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!XX

rhetorician · 01/01/2009 11:32

ff indeed, you never know...I feel quite cheerful about it really - if it works out then I get a baby, if it doesn't then at least I will know that I tried and that it just wasn't meant to be. I don't think I'll miss the TTC rollercoaster, although I'm sure I will always regret not having a LO.

Happy New Year to you all!

rowingboat · 01/01/2009 23:04

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Upwards and onwards for us all in 2009!
Hugs to all, from me and my packet of resolution shattering biccies!

fruitbowl · 03/01/2009 00:38

Happy noo year to you all from me too. Fingers crossed for good news for us eh? No-one can say we're not TRYING!!

Love and luck to all xx

fruitbowl · 03/01/2009 00:40

BTW - that nurofen syringe image FF - hahahahaha!

Oh, except how would you get the magic stuff into the syringe [ festive puzzled and slightly horrfied icon]

Juicylucytoo · 03/01/2009 23:20

Hi All. Back from the relatives and recovering from 3 weeks of serial colds and coughs.

Have started alcohol abstainance. This is the only other thing I can think of that might make a difference so will stick with it as long as I can.
