fifitot · 18/12/2008 21:40

I think we will have to do it in the morning before we leave to get there and on return and hope for the best! No chance of doing it there, am hoping OV will be late due to the stress of xmas so that we can catch it later!!!!!

rowingboat · 18/12/2008 21:56

Fifi, we had this exact problem last year, and when we went on holiday with family, it was rather tricky, particularly in twin bed.

xMASserialshopper · 18/12/2008 22:19

Haha Never had this problem myself

rowingboat · 18/12/2008 22:39

When you say you have never had this problem, do you mean you have no problem with having nookie next door to your granny or do you mean it your fertile period has not coincided with the festive season?

FertilityFiend · 18/12/2008 23:16

Fifi - firstly at the Reeses cups, they are my fave, and very elusive in the shops!

Crimbo shagging with the relatives in attendance is indeed a tricky one, good luck with the military timing operation (or hopefully a postponed ov, as you say!)

Hi Grownupbabes - aaaw your tree sounds lovely (and so does the cava)

Rowing - yes, those amateur decorators, whaddaya do with them DD has ruined my red and gold colour theming this year by insisting on rogue green balls, aaargh...

Hi Xserial - re the cervix thread - I know Well it certainly leaves you in no doubt as to what a good stock of ewcm looks like does it!!

BIG congrats Effingnora and Kudu - your pg news is fabulously heartening Everything crossed for smooth pg's for you both xxx

Fruitbowl - hugs to you, lovely that you could talk to your DH.

MsDynamo - sorry to read your news, hope the doctors can do something positive re treatment, keep us posted.

Hi to everyone else - big waves to Rhet, Sussex and anyone else I've forgotten

Well on day 13 here - managed first shag of the month today with Pre Seed... almost certainly too early to be productive, but hey gets you back in the saddle doesn't it. Let's just hope ov kicks in sometime before Christmas Eve or I'll be in the same boat as you Fifi

fruitbowl · 19/12/2008 14:06

Hahahaha! You've all made me laugh. Cheers to you all! Not only will I also be trying to figure out how to conceive over xmas without the rellies around. I'll probably be trying not to think of you lot aswell while I'm doing it - hahaha! More booze please!

Merry happy x

daisy5 · 19/12/2008 16:46

Hello all

Just wanted to say that I've made it to 16 weeks and everything looks good so far, so really happy. Thank you for your support while I was TTC.

A friend of mine conceived on Christmas Day. Her husband and her had sneaked away for a little rumpy pumpy and almost at the critical moment her father walked into the room. Apparently Steve almost hit the roof, and she reckons all 1million or so of his soldiers set off at the speed of light

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas.

All the best.
Daisy5

rowingboat · 19/12/2008 20:50

Hi Daisy, that's great news. Hope you are feeling OK and not too sicky.
Merry Crimby!

fruitbowl · 19/12/2008 23:41

Big congrats Daisy5. Great news. Hope you are managing to relax and enjoy being pg. Love your friend's story!!

FertilityFiend · 20/12/2008 11:16

Good news Daisy - hurrah!
at your friend's story - I think I'd faint with horror if either of my own parents walked in (and the IL's wouldn't be much better).

How's everyone today? I thought I'd do a quick post as I keep not getting around to doing my ttc story - anyway here goes:

Met DH when I was 34 (after splitting from XDH at 32, no kids). We started (very tentatively) ttc when I was 36 - but both of us were very unsure and unconfident about having kids, so in a way it was almost a relief when nothing happened immediately. Just kind of got bogged down in 'career' stuff for the next few years, and adopted a que sera sera attitude re kids.

Got the shock of our lives when I had a BFP at 40 - it was all SO different to now, I didn't even test till Day 36 as I was in denial that it could possibly be happening! Luckily had a very straightforward pg and had lovely DD (now 2) when I was nearly 41. After she was born I was still so much in shock at having a baby it took a long time before I even contemplated another, but then earlier this year started to get a bit panicky about it, hence all the ttc research and current obsession!

Have never had any medical advice/intervention re ttc, so can't give any advice there. Have just been doing lots of reading up on internet. I think realistically we must have fertility issues since (afaik) we have only conceived once in nearly 8 years with no contraception, and we do do it reasonably regularly. My periods returned when DD was 4 months old, and going on the charting from the past 5 months, I appear to be ovulating. When I pluck up courage, I'm going to the GP to see if they can do the hormone tests.

So - currently on CD15 and no definite opk results yet, but ov should be imminent hopefully. Am currently taking 60mg B6, zinc and EPO. Oh and using Pre Seed this cycle.

Better get on, have a good weekend everyone

rowingboat · 20/12/2008 13:04

OK this is my story
met DP when I was 34 and have been together since then. I became pg by accident (used the cap and condoms, but obviously very badly).
Had DS when I was 38, very healthy pregnancy, with good bp and all that kind of thing.
I had a very large fibroid removed after a laparoscopy to investigate and apparently seemed to have a lot of internal scarring. Started TTC properly, as in timing and cm and stuff like that approximately two years ago, and went for investigations after around 6 months with no luck. Turned out DP was fine, but I have one blocked tube with probably damage in the other.
I have an appointment in January for a second opinion on unblocking the tubes with one consultant and later the same day for IVF discussion.
Also have an appointment in Hungary on 22nd January.
At the moment Hungary is looking more appealing as they are a bit cheaper, which means I could probably do more than one cycle and up to four embyros put back.
That's it so far, still TTC naturally. Day twenty something at the moment and don't think I am pg.

grownupbabes · 20/12/2008 13:58

AF has arrived for Xmas.
But YAY!!! DS just got into Oxford... so some good news for the day

Juicylucytoo · 21/12/2008 14:28

Just to keep you all in the loop. Another shagathon, another waste of time. AF arrived bright and shiny on Friday. Merry bloody Christmas!

Seriously, Hope you all have a fab Christmas and at least one of you gets a BP before 2009. Off to family so out of range for a week or so.

rhetorician · 21/12/2008 16:05

hello and merry christmas to you all. Haven't been posting lately, but last cycle didn't work and somehow talking about it wasn't going to help. Going to keep going for a few months yet, but I feel that the time to give in gracefully is coming up fast. But you never know what 2009 might bring - and I hope it brings lots of BFPs for the fantabulous 40s!

Merry Christmas all,

rowingboat · 21/12/2008 16:51

Booo Rhet and Juicy! Rubbish!
It's a hard old slog isn't it!
Rhet would you consider having fertility tests before giving up?
Have a good break Juicy!
Are you broken up yet Rhet? What are you up to for Crimby?
I'm now officially on holiday, this was my first day of annual leave. It's loverly being a slob, slobbing around around.
Where are my choccies?!?!?!

rhetorician · 21/12/2008 21:09

hello rowing (waves holly festively); have had tests, everything was fine, allegedly, so am thinking about seeing about Clomid in the New Year. All done with the students and all their pesky grades (I have millions of the blighters) until 2009. Tree up, mince pies baked (on second batch as guests ate all the pies!!), pressies wrapped, wine ordered (at least I'll be able to drink it...),

have a good one everybody!

rowingboat · 21/12/2008 23:44

Hi Rhet, that sounds fabulous - the preparations. Might drop round.
Did have you an HSG as well - sorry I can't remember:senility!
It's so annoying when there's no obvious reason for FTC. At least I have my [mouths] tubes [gestures at abdomen][feels like Les Dawson with the pinny on and the bandana].
Having a festive cup of tea as I type, whilst DP stuffs face with festive choccies. I have brushed my teeth so can't have one...can I...?

fruitbowl · 23/12/2008 13:26

rowing - you made me laugh with the Les Dawson image - we're all complete Les's on this thread aren't we?? (nudges pinnied bosom conspiratorily) The best thing is that we can all share the reference. I blurted something about "crackerjack" to a young mum the other day and got a right old blank stare!

I think we should all make a point of eating sweets and chocs after we've done our teeth. Let's go crazy!

Have fun everyone x

Tabitha8 · 23/12/2008 17:12

Little Tab still doing fine. Had a listen to her heartbeat again today. That's 16 and a half weeks. Awaiting 20 weeks scan before deciding on an amnio, but "risk" result, after blood tests and nuchal are now 1 in 274.
Good luck to everyone with TTC this month and in the New Year and congratulations to Kudu and Effinora on the BFPs. Hope all is going well.
Still time for Christmas shopping - I haven't bought DH anything at all. I don't think we've been focusing on Christmas. I might have to buy him a box of chocs and eat them myself.
Fruitbowl I didn't know that Crackerjack wasn't on anymore. I suppose Jackanory has gone as well? I'm going to be a very embarrassing mummy.

rowingboat · 23/12/2008 18:18

Tab, apparently the Magic Roundabout finished and the Herbs. Rubbish isn't it!
Great news everything is going so well. I'm not sure of the odds you mention. It sounds OK to me, but what do I know. I remember having a nuchal fold thingy with DS, but that was it, I bet this time it will be all change on that front.
I was laughing about eating choccies after brushing - you are a devil Rhet, then straight off to bed to let the sugar do it's worst. I told my DP that we are all Les's and he thought that explained a lot particularly where conception is concerned, apparently you need a bloke or something.
I think people are too frightened of my manic expression not to laugh at my obscure references to 1970/80s popular culture. 'Oh yes' they say as they scurry. Sometimes I give chase, but not always.

Tabitha8 · 23/12/2008 21:25

So, they've taken off all my favourites? How about Trumpton and Camberwick Green? They changed Pinky and Perky and even Rupert the Bear. I might withhold my licence fee in protest. The last I saw of Paddington, he looked just as he always did. Adorable.

rowingboat · 24/12/2008 00:35

Paddington is my DS's middle name, it was what we called him before he was born.
He is very pleased with his middle name.
Pinky and Perky - I spotted on CBeebies, but we haven't watched it yet. Is it awful?

grownupbabes · 24/12/2008 09:12

Pinky and Perky are hysterical! I had P & P play figures back in 1960thingamybob... oh dear, this really is the over 40s thread isn't it
Happy Christmas everyone, and a Fertile New Year.

rowingboat · 24/12/2008 11:27

I know grownup, it's great isn't it! It's so funny when you can make all these references confident that you will be understood.
I am just off to brave Lidls now, to pick up some wine and bits and pieces. [scared face]

FertilityFiend · 24/12/2008 15:35

Merry Christmas all

Good luck to those undertaking festive shagging - I had a thought about how one might achieve the insemination quotient while avoiding actual noisy, erm sexual relations - which involved a nurofen syringe... (eeeew) I'll leave the rest to your imagination

Won't be on for a couple of days, so hope everyone has a suitably festive time. Cheers! xx
