Hi everyone, I haven't been on for ages, as I've been trying to pretend to myself that I'm just pootling along, and not TRYING to conceive. And not obsessing about it. But I am, and I am. All I can think about is that I'm 43 and whilst I'm blessed with my lovely DS, he's all I'm going to be allowed to have. Spiral Queen - loved your analogy. You said it all.

Sad to hear that some of you are sad - me too - but so, so thrilled that there's a lovely BFP on here. It's given me hope.

Good luck, everyone.

gonepearshaped · 16/03/2009 08:19

Nanbred that's fantastic, just when this thread really needed a few BFPs you cracked it, well done you!

Spring has definitely sprung (where I am at least) so maybe we can get with the season and knock out a few more BFPS.

Now I'm going to settle down in the corner with a curly wurly and plan this month's campaign!

Still puzzled by my six days late six days early thing - lol at you in the cone rowing!

latestarter2009 · 16/03/2009 11:22

congratulations nanbred am absolutely thrilled for you and i hope it is a smooth sailing nine months ...is this your first? how exciting!

just knew someone had to get lucky soon....so maybe we will have a little run of them now at least this weather is a bit more uplifting

can't help with the clomid fruitbowl...though perhaps you will send a choc orange my way

sorry gps also can't help with the six days, i was early this month, but it didn't look like AF (still not convinced it wasn't a chemical pregnancy) and now I am still spotting 9 days later which never happens..trying not to read too much into it and just focus on this month's 'campaign'

hope everyone gets some sun today

rowingboat · 16/03/2009 12:22

Hi all,
gps was there any other factor that could have influenced your cycle over the past two months - stress?
I'm off to Hungary next Wednesday, so will report back afterwards. Still being quite neutral emotionally, don't want to start buying prams just yet.
My consultant at the local hossy had one of his minions phone me this morning - he was supposed to phone me back on Friday! They want me to go in for another 'tracking' scan on Wednesday this week - to make sure I don't have any more cysts. He thought I might not be releasing an egg some months so it will be interesting to see what he finds. It's all helpful I suppose, for my ivf consultation. I think the more they know the better when it comes to planning the treatment.
I bet it is pouring with rain in Budapest!
Can anyone recommend a good travel insurance?

beamel · 16/03/2009 12:31

Hi All, what a fabulous chocolate fest I see before me !
Is that another chocolate orange there ? yes ? ... thanks ! Oh, and does anyone mind if I pick all the turkish delight out of the Milk Tray ?
Great to see everyone more cheerful, and enjoying the weather !

GPS - I am baffled about the six-day thing. Our bodies do some weird stuff sometimes and I really don't understand some of it.

Fruit - Pretty much all drugs come with a list of side effects as long as your arm. The manufacturers have to cover themselves. Huge numbers of people use clomid and the vast majority don't get any adverse effects at all. Just concentrate on the fact that it works in so many cases !

Rowing - you all ready for your trip ? How exciting !

Got my crosshairs so its the 2WW now for me
Hoping this is the start of a run of BFPs for us !

vonsudenfed · 16/03/2009 13:31

nanbred fantastic news! That's brilliant. More like that, please.

rowing - the scan thing sounds like perfect timing, so that's good news.

latestarter My AF was wierd like yours, three days of tiny spotting before it decided it meant business. It could well have been a chemical pregnancy - the only other times I've had that, were my two MC. Plus last night I burst into floods of tears, and I'm sure that's the hormonal crash. Bloody shite eggs.

I would say mine's a Lindor egg, but i've had a stomach big all weekend... Still, things can only go up from here. I've got a proper BBT thermometer and all (not that I care, you see).

Hope you're all out in the sun!

vonsudenfed · 16/03/2009 13:32

or bug, even. [cack-handed typist emoticon]

spiralqueen · 16/03/2009 13:54

That's brilliant news Nan - cheered us all up.

I'm at day 30 and after six months of 21-27 day cycles apart from a 40 day blip in November. Got quite a bit of back pain this morning but nausea too so trying hard to remember if this feels like the types of pain that used to make me feel like I was about to come on all the time when I was expecting DD.

Still no actual sign of AF is good news as far as I'm concerned even if DH says we need to go another 3mths without AF before he'll get too excited

Juicylucytoo · 16/03/2009 19:59

Wow Spiral could this be our next BFP??

I'm due AF tomorrow, but no signs yet, so will wait and see. NOT getting my hopes up. Boobs are sore - don't normally get this for AF, but it might be nothing. Keep getting wierd stomach action. Could be AF, could be wind

fruitbowl · 16/03/2009 21:48

Hey girls! I've just found some Poppets - remember them? Plenty more chocs here girls help yourselves!

Gd luck Rowing for next week. Soz don't know about travel insurance. I do know that I had to add a clause on to my holiday insurance post D&C last summer to cover any complications relating to that so I suppose double check you are covered for any gynaey / fertility related stuff? Or is this just a consultation? Good luck whichever.

Best of luck Beamel, vonSF, Juicy & Spiral - keep us posted.

Just downed my first clomid tabs - trying not to freak out! I'll let you know if I start growing green with bulging muscles like the hulk (doncha just love these retro references??) Speaking of which, I bought a special commemoration Jackie Annual in Co-op today. It's F.A.B - fab! It's a compilation of all the 70s Jackies with Donny Osmond on the front - haha!

rowingboat · 16/03/2009 22:08

That's a good point Fruit, I'm just looking at moneysupermarket and confused.com for insurance, whilst simultaneously eating spaghetti - oops better wipe that off the keyboard. adkfjadofiuaasdkfjoieu - that's it nice and clean again.
Don't forget to keep a spare pair of trousers in your bag - being a hulk makes them all ripped and messy.
Spiral - i'm hoping this means another bfp for us girls.
Beam are you picking out the turkish delight so you can put it in the bin?
Can I have some of that spanish gold tobacco stuff or some pretend cigarettes - puffs pretend cigarette!
VSF, you get that dust off and get back up on your feet [helps VSF up and dusts her off]
Very frightened of the journey to Hungary next week. [wah! face]Thank you all for your support, it's so nice!

nanbred · 17/03/2009 07:52

Thanks for all positive wishes and vibes everyone. I'm returning them in buckets for you all. Would be so lovely to have some pg buddies! Hope you all don't mind me staying on the thread for a while, until we get through the miscarriage minefield anyway? Not that I want to bring you all down, but you folk have really helped me so far, and reluctant to try to find a new home with cyber strangers. Sensitive to those who may feel I should bugger off!

Fruit, nothing could be further from the truth for me, but one can dream! (tossing virtual waves of lustrous brown hair over one shoulder!).

Good Luck for Budapest Rowing, and hoping you get good feedback from your scan tomorrow.

After a great deal of persuasion with regard to reluctant cynical medical profs, I've managed to arrange a scan on Friday as dp away all next week so would like some reassurance before he goes, even though it can only really tell us where the embryo is, and whether it has grown at the predicted rate. Have to say symptoms are very subtle currently so keeping all crossed.

beamel · 17/03/2009 09:56

Of course you must stay with us for a bit, you are our inspiration now ! Best of luck with the scan it's great that you managed to get that sorted.
Any chance of another choc ? Nope, I do actually eat the Turkish delight Rowing, and given half a chance will have all the marzipan out of the Black Magic too !
Fx for you spiral, sounds hopeful !

spiralqueen · 17/03/2009 09:57

Day 31 - Still getting niggly backache that comes and goes but no sign of AF yet. Strangely calm at the moment and resisting the temptation to test. Trying to hold out til day 40 as that has been my longest cycle.

Rowing - have you got everything sorted with the insurance?

Fifi - are you still around? How are you feeling - hope things are improving for you.

Fruitbowl - must dash to the Co-op not seen that annual. My DD kicked for the first time at a Donny concert in the pouring rain in Wales 2 years ago. What a sad muppet I am

tetleytea · 17/03/2009 10:36

Just had to post to say CONGRATULATIONS nanbred!!!!

That's wonderful news! Am so pleased for you.All the best for the next 9 months, and beyond.

tt xx

StarPlayer · 17/03/2009 13:08

(comes out of lurkdom)

CONGRATULATIONS NANBREAD

All the best for Hungary Rowing. Fruit I took clomid 100mg for 1 month and I turned into a very nasty version of Margaret Thatcher I was only supposed to take 50mg a month but thought 'what the heck' when I had to left and gave it a try!

StarPlayer · 17/03/2009 13:11

'when I had 2 left'

(goes off to lurk again)

Oh - by the way -- I was thinking of the following thread titles (not that I have to name the next thread)

Hope Springs Eternal - 40+ and fab

Been There Done That - 40+ TTC

fruitbowl · 17/03/2009 18:45

Nanbred No you will NOT bugger off and leave us as Beamel says - you are like Obi Wan - Our only hope at the mo!! Gd luck for Fri.

Rowing - just think of us holding your virtual likkle handies all the way to Hungary. Good luck. With u on the tokin on sweet cigarettes - they call them candy sticks now - rubbash! Ash! Geddit! OK I'll stop now.

I'm still here, not turned green yet although Starplayer I'm kind of worryingly attached to the iomage of the Incredible hulk / Thatcher combo. Could be a winner.

Spiral yes you've got it bad aint cha? If you can't find the Jackie Annual, I will send you mine - you obviously need it more than me

fruitbowl · 17/03/2009 18:47

forgot to say Spiral - admire your restraint trying not to test til day 40. I had the same thing a while back and had to wait til day 36. Killer eh?

fifitot · 17/03/2009 20:14

OOh thank god someone has got a BFP!

I am still here and still fed up but haven't had time to log in. Annoyed that my fertile time coincides with a family holiday where DD sharing my room so can't see us getting it on at all this month. Boooooooooooooooo!

fifitot · 17/03/2009 20:24

BTW Nan - were you just temping or also using OPKs. I have lost the will to do temping, can't be arsed any more but know when I usually ovulate now anyway so using OPKs only this month and relying on them.

rainbowdays · 17/03/2009 21:26

Nan - CONGRATULATIONS - so pleased that we have a BFP here, don't go anywhere for a while, we all want to come with you!

I am getting frustrated, was expecting af yesterday, but she decided to hide away. Tested this morning and it was a glaring BFN. I am sure it will come tomorrow as I have just started spotting (never normally do this). Got cramps already and just want to it to get going so that I can move on.

Oh and are there any dairymilk chocs around here, or have they all been eaten already!!!!

catsmother · 17/03/2009 21:26

I've only posted once before on this particular thread (but may post more as I become increasingly desperate !) but just wanted to say a huge congratulations to Nanbread, even though I don't "know" you, so to speak.

It's all very well reading about celebs conceiving later on but so much more inspiring when someone real falls pregnant. I'm 44 too so this gives me renwed hope - it can happen - and I really wish you every success as your pregnancy progresses.

Isthisoneforreal · 17/03/2009 21:46

Have changed my name as know some others on Mumsnet and only wanted to share this with you...

Just letting you know I couldn't not test afterall... so... can now join the BFP's!!!

It's really early days and I'm a bit like Spirals DH in that until I'm at least 12 weeks I won't believe it is going to stick.

Can't quite believe it

ITOFR aka JL2

catsmother · 17/03/2009 22:02

Wow, JL2 ..... the Brighton lady ? ..... that's marvellous as well. Congratulations !
