Lol KAT, I'm with you on the cervical thing - I shudder just thinking about it though I'm sure once you've done it, it becomes second nature....
I teach sociology and politics, so def no help with microbiology!!!! I don't envy you in the least!
Have just ordered some natural birth books off amazon ; ok, I am miss epidural, but am curious to see how the 'other half' do it Oh and a question - does anyone know anything about anterior placentas??? Never had one before, so curious to see if it causes any problems with baby's position etc (it's in body of uterus, not low-lying).

ScorpiowithabigS · 01/02/2009 18:44

i had anterior with mimi - all fine

ScorpiowithabigS · 01/02/2009 21:18

My godmother is a microbiologist not me though! When i eventually finish my degree, i would love to start a MSc in Sociology....eventually, more of a lifetime goal than a soon thing iyswim.

Sorry was a little short about anterior placenta before. It made her movements feel more cushioned but apart from that no issue, she was head down from 25 weeks, pooped in and out of engagement, but i htink that is subsequent baby related rather than placentas fault. Placenta delivery all fine, over quickly with injection in thigh.

rainbowdays · 01/02/2009 21:55

Wow, I disappear for a couple of days and you are all busy talking, I will try to catch up.

MrsD - so sorry to hear that AF arrived. I hope you don't ask your dh about trying again, that way he can't say no!!!

Scorpio - the ebay cheapies that I use never show an evap line unless I am preg. But last time it turned out to be a chemical pg. There are several different types of ebay cheap test, which one are you using? It is not over yet.

Diege - natural birth is great. Having had no choice last time, I would say it was definitely my choice for another time. Anterior placent. no problem, just affects the amount of kicking I could feel. The position of the placenta should be opposite sides for each pregnancy, so your second pregnancy should theoretically have been anterior too!!!!!!

Heinz - sorry to hear about your dh being made redundant, is he likely to find another job soon?

I have my parents with me at the moment, so not sure how much I will get online over the next few days. But will try to get back as soon as I can.

Twiglettini · 01/02/2009 22:17

Hi Rainbow - how are you feeling?

Katonahottinroof · 01/02/2009 22:18

I had a very low lying anterior placenta last time and it just meant I got scanned a lot more really to make sure it was clear of the cervix opening. It was and I had a normal birth (followed by a haemhorrage but dont know if that had anything to do with it).
RE natural births - well I had epidurals with DS and DD1, very medical births. With DD2 I had an enforced natural birth (well with a bit of gas and air) due to the fact I was fully dilated when I got to hospital. I was adamant I wasn't going to do it without an epi LOL. I was being quite stubborn, the mw was telling me that I'd done the hard bit myself and I didnt need an epi but I remember saying that I wasn't going to push unless they gave me some drugs at least.
I did push and she was out in a minute LOL. I'd do it again totally although quite like having an excuse to take mind altering drugs such as pethadine....

I'd love a home birth but having had 2 Post partum haemhorrages I would be too scared

ScorpiowithabigS · 02/02/2009 09:24

I had a HB last time with Mimi, had G&A all 3 times, no more. Ask away

Katonahottinroof · 02/02/2009 09:56

Well DH has gone until Friday
Jumped him last night, hoping I OV late though. Think I'm on about CD12 today... who am I kidding, I'll be out this month

ScorpiowithabigS · 02/02/2009 11:29

Kat - don't lose hope, sperm can stay alive for 5 days, so if you are on cd12 it may be enough

cd33 here today, got few days to wait. Think i might just forget about it until saturday, and test then, which will mean im actually late iyswim.

babyblue3 · 02/02/2009 14:44

Wow! I agree with you Rainbow... miss a few days and you really have to catch up in the conversation!

Heinz - sorry to hear about DH. Hopefully he will find something soon, so try not to stress just yet. The Canadian economy is pretty bad too right now. I am very thankful that both DH and I have very secure jobs. We are tightening our belts in anticipation of our little bean's arrival. I am going to need a new car, since neither one of ours will fit the entire family. I worry about that added expense though... sigh...

Diege - I would recommend a natural birth if your pain tolerance is good! I had an epi with DD1 and it slowed everything down. It took 2 hours for me to push her out since I was too frozen and had to wait. Then she ended up having to be pulled out with forceps. It was awful! For DS and DD2 I decided to go natural (with just a few puffs of gas near the end), and they were both born in 4 hours with minimal pushing. Thats how I plan to go with #4.

MrsD - Sorry about AF..

Kat - ick! I couldn't imagine checking my CP! My cervix is sooooo sensitive, that I usually crawl half way up the table when I am having my yearly check up! LOL.. I remember having fertility screening/tests done when I was having a hard time conceiving DD1. It was the WORST experience ever! Everytime the doc would touch my cervix, I would scream in agony!

Scorpio - I agree.. best to wait til you are either due or late. I never really got BFPs before then either.

Twig - DH and I would BD every other day from day cd12 to about cd20. It worked for us. Last 3 pg we conceived on the first shot. We were told by our OB that every other day was best.

I think I have covered everyone . I myself am home today with a killer headache. I had high hopes of getting my house spic and span this weekend. But instead, spent most of the time sleeping off my headache. I am very stubborn and won't take any meds unless I am half dead, so I just lay there with an ice pack on my head and suffer! LOL.. My DH took the kids to a neighbours house to watch the Superbowl last night, so I had the hose to myself to catch up on laundry. It was nice and quiet.... and unusual!!

ScorpiowithabigS · 02/02/2009 19:13

Is everybody snowed in??

babyblue3 · 02/02/2009 19:50

For once we are not! Its plus 2 degrees here... and looks like we will just miss the big storm we were supposed to get here tonight into tomorrow! YIPPEE!!!

mrsdisorganised · 02/02/2009 22:08

Hello all
Just to let you all know that Dh is adament that he doesn't want to ttc anymore...he feels that maybe as it hasn't happened we're tempting fate as it would be my 5th c-section (ok'd by my consultant btw!), so really he's lost his nerve...feel sad, but you never know.....Anyway will check in from time to time to see how you lovely ladies are getting on! Thanks for the support x

Twiglettini · 02/02/2009 22:17

Oh mrsD, I'm so sorry, that must be heartbreaking for you. I do think you are right about '...you never know...' and you are young, you have loads of time for him to change his mind. How old is your youngest?

much love xx

mrsdisorganised · 02/02/2009 22:23

My youngest is only 15 months....and yes I suppose i have time atm...thanks Twig, hope you're ok x

Twiglettini · 02/02/2009 22:25

When I asked about the age of your youngest, I was wondering if he might change his mind when she grows up a bit - wanting another baby??!

also, thank you to everyone for their bd every other day advice, talking of which, better get off mn and get to bed

Katonahottinroof · 02/02/2009 23:08

Aww MrsD so sorry, maybe he'll come round

OK guys, so 10 days ago I had 2 days of bleeding without pain. I just did a test to make sure it was negative, and it's come up faint positive - ebay cheapie style.

It's definately positive, a faint thick line with colour... am v confused... could it be LH that it's picking up if I'm OVing?? Surely if I was 6 weeks pregnant it would be darker?? Ahhhhhh my head is messed up now!!
Should I go and get a clearblue digi in the morning you think??

As I was only 4+6 when I supposedly mc I wouldn't have thought it was still picking up HCG from then?

Katonahottinroof · 02/02/2009 23:20

Line is getting darker... stronger than any I had before - should I get excited???

rainbowdays · 03/02/2009 08:47

KatB - I NEVER got a dark line with ebay cheapies. Have you got a negative test at all since your bleed? I seriously think you had an implantation bleed, and that you are still pg....... so go get a proper test, and if that comes up positive get yourself to the doc's and get them to confirm that you are in fact pg.... come back soon to tell us.

rainbowdays · 03/02/2009 08:55

MrsD - so sorry that your dh is not with you on the ttc. Time may change his mind, I know it has with my dh. I hope you do come back and check on us all like you say. As you are part of our group, we don't want to lose you.

KatB - you are using pg tests mot ov tests, then there is no way that you are picking up ovulation. Also you should definitely not have any residual hcg from an early miscarriage at this point. Therefore I deduce that you are still pg......!!!!!

Scorpio - wow I admire your strength for not going to POAS!!!!

Got to go get dd to pre-school, will check back later if I get a chance.

Diege · 03/02/2009 09:00

Morning! I've tried to catch up but I'm sure I have forgotten most of what I've read!
Gosh KAT you've got me stumped there re: bfp!!! I agree it would be odd to get stronger lines after an (apparent) mc, although you do hear of the cases where the conception had been a twin one and while one mc the other survives?? If I were you I'd go and have a chat and see what your options are. Maybe get a scan to see what they can see? In the meantime I am tentatively optimistic for you
MRSD - I think TWIG has a good point there. It could well be that dh will start to rethink when the youngest gets older. I can understand how disappointed you must be for now though - I would be furious! Please keep in touch xxx
Thanks for info on natural birth. I have had epidurals for all 3 dds (screamed for one like KAT when 8 cm with dd3, despite being told it would prolong labour ), although it didn't 'take' with dd2 so got a (rather unpleasant) taste of what 'natural' might be like...Don't know why the change of heart this time, maybe because it's the last?? I also took several hours to recover from the epidural last time, and would just like to try labouring without being strapped to a monitor flat on my back! I think part of my problem is that my contractions start full strength, 4 mins apart, lasting 30-60 seconds, so I never have the wearning signs or mental preparation of a slower start. I would love a doula, but dh not too happy. He says he would feel pushed out which I'm sure wouldn't be the case (in fact, the opposite) but I think the £500 fee (in the current climate) really decided against for us. I will have to rely on my Sheila Kitzinger instead!
Thanks for the reassurances too about anterior placenta It's odd that the movements seem to be stronger and more easily felt this time - more so than the others with posterior placenta. Maybe I have a boxer in there .
Hope your headache improved BABYBLUE - can't believe you are having it so warm and balmy there is sunny Canada
Hello to everyone else - I will try and keep up today!

Diege · 03/02/2009 09:01

x-posts there RAINBOW!!! Good advice there for Kat

Katonahottinroof · 03/02/2009 09:30

Ok even more confused now, did a digital test with FMU and got PREGNANT 1-2..........

Residual HCG? I need to get scanned really don't I.
I'm worried about ectopic now...

Ahhh wish I'd never bothered!!!

Katonahottinroof · 03/02/2009 09:31

Oh and it's been 12 days since I started bleeding.... Bleeding lasted 2 days with no pain then stopped.

Katonahottinroof · 03/02/2009 09:40

Just made a Drs appt for 10.40... I'll let you know what happens.
Think I would have been happier with a BFN, at least I would know what was going on.
