Hello all, have fun with your DH, MrsD!!
Don't give up hope Kat until AF actually comes knocking at your door.
Rainbow, that sounds really likely, all my fingers crossed for you.

I've got a question: are the ebay cheapies somehow less reliable than the chemist expensive ones, i.e. can they give false positives? I thought that wasn't possible.

Sorry 2 questions: What is an evaporation line and how does it differ from a faint BFP?? Cos if there was a line on KatB's test, then, that's preggers, even if it's really faint??? or have I got this totally wrong. Thanks

Diege · 16/01/2009 12:14

Hello . I'm no expert TWIG but I think an evamporation line is one that develops after the test time limite to read resut is up (usually 10 mins), is colourless (ie, grey-ish as opposed to blue or pink) and very thin. Having said that, when I'm not pregnant I get no line whatsoever, even after several hours. Whereas when I am I may well get a very very faint line after 10 mins (sometimes an hour later when I've returned to the bin , and then turns out if I test a few days later have BFP within time limit.
Hi RAINBOW! That fertility friend site sound mighty complex! Still, you might be onto som, thing with late ovulation. Good luck!
Oh Kat, hope it;s just a blip - would be so cruel if propoer BFN . Still, early days yet, don't give up hope even if it's not to be this month

HeinzSight · 16/01/2009 12:28

KatB, I used the ebay cheapies and they were just as good as shop ones. If the line appeared before 10 mins surely it's a 'proper' line? Fingers crossed

Fingers crossed for everyone else digging for their carrots.

Well I hired one of those ebay dopplers and it arrived today and I heard LOs heartbeat, felt VERY SURREAL to say the least, OMG there's actually something in there.

KatB · 16/01/2009 12:44

GIRLS! You've gone and got my hopes up again !!!

I guess I'll try to wait for a couple of days and try again if no AF.... although read that as tomorrow morning then afternoon then evening

KatB · 16/01/2009 12:48

Oh D, the line I got was faint but as thick as the control line, couldn't tell whether there was colour or not? It didn't come up straight away but was prob between 5 and 10 minutes.... hmm

HeinzSight · 16/01/2009 12:54

I'm thinking it's a positive KatB

Evap lines are normally incredibly faint and thin.

Twiglettini · 16/01/2009 12:54

How lovely HeinzSight - it does seem amazing to hear something in there, doesn't it

KatB, could the two tests have been different strengths? A 10 mg/ml (or something like that) would show a line before a 25 mg/ml test. Do you know what strength were the two tests you did.

I think we should all get our hopes up until the dreaded AF appears. LOL at testing morning, afternoon and evening - you sound like me!!

HeinzSight · 16/01/2009 12:56

Good point Twiglettini, yes I had two different types of strength from ebay.

Twiglettini · 16/01/2009 13:06

Hi HeinzSight, how pregnant are you? How lovely to hear your baby, but how do you know where on your tummy to put the doodah?

Twiglettini · 16/01/2009 13:06

Twiglettini · 16/01/2009 13:08

sorry for double post - let's just blame it on the computer

KatB · 16/01/2009 13:23

Was just looking at the positive tests on fedrtility friend WHAT the Hell am I doing?? Anyway quite a few of the faint ones look like mine.

Still, the BFN this morning has dented my enthusiasm so not getting my hopes up too much.

Saying that, I was hiding in the kitchen as DS was in living room, DD was in shower, DH was in our room and there was nowhere to examine my pee product! SO I might have chucked it a bit too early, def didnt wait 10 minutes.

Heinz! Gz on baby's heartbeat, I hired one when preg with dd2, it's so exciting!

HeinzSight · 16/01/2009 13:47

Twiglettini, I'm 10 weeks today. It took ages to find LOs heartbeat, I kept hearing my placenta. You have to start quite low down and go really slowly from side to side. LO is currently on the lower right hand side of my tummy.

Damn KatB, can you fish out of the bin?

KatB · 16/01/2009 13:57

Hiya,
OK just did another test and got a faint line again! I timed it this time and it came up after 5 minutes, def has a pinkish tinge to it

Gonna beg steal or borrow money to buy a clearblue digital. Worried about line being so faint on CD27.

Showed it to DH who is working from home today but he's rubbish and said it that it sort of thing as it's very faint. Men, they know nothing! But at least he could see it

xxx

KatB · 16/01/2009 13:58

sorry DH said 'is that it'?
NOT it that it

HeinzSight · 16/01/2009 14:00

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'RE PREGNANT!!!!

KatB · 16/01/2009 14:06

What a drama though!!!!

Thanks so much for keeping me 'company' today.
I'm supposed to be writing an essay on 'The role of genetics in the aetiology of cancer' but this is much more fun!! Got to 2000 words now though

Now am worrying about AF type cramps which I always get when I'm pregnant anyway but I get to worry about all that again

HeinzSight · 16/01/2009 14:11

You're welcome KatB! Don't worry about AF type cramps, they're v disconcerting aren't they though! Are you in shock?

KatB · 16/01/2009 14:15

Urm yeah considering it's only been 4 weeks since my mc (at 5 weeks)!

Can't get too excited yet because of mc, think I'll keep it to myself, DH and you guys for a while!

Well, maybe I'll get a little bit excited

sweetkitty · 16/01/2009 14:16

Failsafe ebay cheapie methoe - do two tests together at the EXACT same time, dip one in your wee and the other in water (or better still get your DH to prvide a sample)

By running them both together and looking carefully as they hit the test line you should be able to see any faint positives.

I had the faintest of faint lines on my ebay cheapies, nothing on the water one, the faint line is lying on a rug gumming a toy right now.

I found the ebay cheapies didn't give me a really good positive until about a week after AF is due.

Twiglettini · 16/01/2009 14:16

Kat, that is fabulous news, huge congratulations. Can't remember how old your other children are, good luck with number 4!!!

theboob · 16/01/2009 14:17

congratulations katb xxxx

KatB · 16/01/2009 14:19

'the faint line is lying on a rug gumming a toy right now.'
PMSL awwwwwwwwwwwww so cute! Thanks makes me feel better too. I'll try the water thing as well tomorrow.

Thanks Twig, my other children are (DS)12, (DDs)10 and 5 so all school age - I must be mad!

Diege · 16/01/2009 14:27

KAT I just knew it!!! Wow, another carrot to the bunch, and who knows how many more to follow! Have you worked out a due date yet?? [of course you have!!! ).

KatB · 16/01/2009 14:30

worked out a hypothetical due date about 3 weeks ago
