I've decided to start the new thread

Anyone coming to join me?

OP posts:
cece · 23/07/2008 14:33

Yes I use FF but not signed up for the VIp yet. Is it worth it?

rowingboat · 24/07/2008 14:01

Hi Cece, I have had the VIP trial, but only use the regular, free version. I don't notice any difference when I have the VIP trial, so not convinced.
It is day 10 for us, so must get to bding. Trying to be positive, but it's a bit tricky when it is taking so long to get pg.
I must believe it will happen.
Not sure if I am supposed to tell the doctor to send that letter to the consultant, suppose I had better phone up to check.
Had a smear today, yuck. Some poor bloke had chest pains in the surgery and passed out, so there was a flurry of activity and all the appointments were running late. He kept insisting that he wanted to go home, but was in quite good spirits by the time the ambulance arrived.

cece · 24/07/2008 20:21

I had the free trial. I think you can overlay your charts from differnet motnhs and so on... Not sure whether to splash out or not.... When af is with me I think yes, then as the month progresses I think well let's see if af comes... and so it goes on..

We are trying to do it every other day this month. Last month every day was exhausting and as I OV later I think we ran out of steam iyswim... We did it every day the month we concieved DD btu I was only 34 then!

rowingboat · 24/07/2008 21:46

You go girl!
Not a chance of me bding every other day, or DP (as far as I know).
It is day 10, and we might bd, but probably put it off until day 11. I'm just so fed-up with having sex that is so routine, so won't this month.

cece · 25/07/2008 08:52

well we are off on holiday tomorrow for a fortnight so we shall see

Happy Birthday tomorrow Bun!

rowingboat · 27/07/2008 21:27

Hi everyone, it is day 13 for us and bd'd yesterday, which was nice and not horrible and with a metronome.
Sometimes I feel as if we need one of those drum beaters that kept rhythm on a Roman slave galley.
DP is very busy today so we'll see, but I'm not pushing it, because I feel so fed-up with the routine.
We even talked about taking the month off this month, but instead we're just trying to be a bit more relaxed.
Might take next month off though.
Better phone the GP tomorrow to see if he is waiting for my go ahead before he posts that letter.

xserialshopper · 27/07/2008 21:37

Hi Rowing

I know what you mean about the bding. It's sad but I'm actually glad we cant bd until after my hyscosy etc

Just popping back in to say hi and find some gorgeous ladies who I'm hoping will understand some of my relief that 52 days after my D&C, AF has finally decided to drop in for a visit! We're well known for being late in our family but even by our standards, the old mare took her time!

Thanks for reading. I guess this means we'll have to think about doing the do soon (exhausted even thinking about it icon anyone??)

Keep well girls xx

giggly · 28/07/2008 00:59

I was thinking back to all those early years with dh having loads of sex and hoping like mad not to get pregnant, jump 17 years and to knackered to have sex all the time and hoping that each time we do manage to bd it brings a bfp.
Now on cd 37 and have just got a bfn. I think I may have to bite the bullet and go and see my GP for some advice, not that all you lovely ladies advice is unwelcome.

I just cant seem to work out when I ov, I have used the sticks and I get all sorts of readings.

I may go tomorrow and by a digital monitor which should save me loads in the end.
I guess a common theme going on here is to exhausted/ cant be bothered/ despondent( delete as necessary) for bd.

However have got an image of Russel Crowe in Gladiator from Rowingboats Roman slave post

yes, enjoy this fabulous summer we are having !

rowingboat · 28/07/2008 12:54

Hi everyone,
xserial - enjoy your rest and by the time you are 'fixed' you will be raring to go.
Fruitbowl, I'm glad you have a definite starting point for TTC. I wonder if there is a better name than trying to conceive: one which is a bit less 'trying'. I'm going to think about a name that I find a bit more fun and never mind the trying.
Giggly, good luck at the GP, it can only help and you will feel more in the driving seat if you are fully informed.
Bun that sounds divine. It was so gorgeous yesterday wasn't it. We walked to the beach and DS was sooo excited about the water - probably should have brought his swimming cossie .
This is day 14 for me and got a positive OPK response yesterday which means ovulation is within 24 - 48 plus the 6-12 hours the egg is viable - so that's today and tomorrow, better bd at least one more time.
So far, leaving it until day 12 has made me feel a bit more relaxed, rather than setting myself the goal of bding for 6 or 7 days on the trot and then failing. Bding has definitely been more fun and less stressy.
I haven't given up, but when it takes so long for anything to happen you need a way of continuing without beating yourself up every month. I'm so sick of all the guidelines and theory and timing, I just feel like doing what suits me.

rowingboat · 29/07/2008 18:23

Yoo hoo! What's everyone doing??
Being nosey!

ladymac · 30/07/2008 10:57

Hi everybody.

I woke up at 5.30 feeling really nauseous, which wore off by about 9.30. It's CD22 today. Having never experienced morning sickness before I'm just wondering whether this could be it. And also whether I would have it this early on. Probably just something I ate but a girl can live in hope!

We bd'd early this cycle, days 11 and 13 the latest I think, life got in the way of any more attempts after that!

heron22 · 30/07/2008 14:07

hi all, i have been lurking...

hi rowing! it is best to just do what u feel like. makes BDing more enjoyable that way.

good luck all

In France, workman say wonderful things like 'hello most beautiful woman in the world'. It would sometimes really make my day.

It seems a while since that has happened.

Good going belgian bun!

MGMidget · 30/07/2008 16:48

Hi, I'm 42 now and TTC number 2. Have a baby boy aged 10 months so trying to get another one in the oven in quick succession. Its a bit tough dealing with those middle of the night baby wake-ups though and still feeling romantic! My son still goes through his phases of needing his mummy at 3am!

gem2mum · 30/07/2008 21:54

Hi there ladies, yes well done Belgian Bun and daisy5 it would certainly make me feel better to get a wolf whistle now and again. Sadly, its been a while!

Welcome Mgmidget. It seems hard doesn't it to imagine being pg with a little one still getting you up in the night !

Rowing Im with you about getting fed up with the timing thing. I went for a scan today cos I'm on my 4th clomid cycle and I actually didnt know exactly what day I was on Any other month and I would have told them exactly which day and how many hours too. Anyway, I have womb lining of 9.5 and one follicle of 21 or 22 if that means anything to anyone?? She said it looks good so I suppose I had better start tempting DP to a few early nights .

Giggly, I never get any decent readings from any ov sticks either. If you get a digital moniter it would be interesting to see if it works any better.

ladymac · 31/07/2008 12:45

Good luck with your early nights Gem.

I'd obviously eaten something funny on tuesday night as I had no nausea this morning. Does seem strange that I went to bed last night hoping to wake up feeling sick!

Can I ask you all out there what you do about drinking? If you are always hoping you might be pregnant, does that mean you always forego the wine just in case? I really look forward to my couple of glasses of wine with dinner but wonder if I should be giving it up because of the slim chance I might be pregnant.

rhetorician · 31/07/2008 14:45

can I join? I'm 42 and just started my period so another cycle down the drain. That was no. 4 and whilst I know that's not too terrible in the larger scheme of things (which is what, exactly, now I come to think of it) I'm feeling very low about my chances. No children, no-one really knows I'm trying (except DP of course) and know in my heart of hearts that I've just left it too late. FSH was about 9, LH about 6 and CD21 prog about 30; temping suggests I ov every month although OPKs usually don't work for me (v. short surge). So it's also not completely hopeless. Just could do with some mumsnet cheer I think!

rowingboat · 31/07/2008 15:38

Hi everyone
Ladymac I very seldom drink. I don't like drinking at home, only when I'm out with friends at night. These days, I tend to meet friends when I am driving or for coffee before work, so can't drink then anyway. I suppose, if you drink on a daily basis you could always just drink in the first two weeks.
Hi Rhetorician, it sounds as if you have had your day three and day twenty one tests, is that correct? It is a bit of a slog, I find, but it's not too late for you, as there are stories of women of your age and older becoming pg. Look back on this thread, they often pop in to cheer us up.
Four cycles really isn't that many, even couple in their twenties can take up to 12 months to become pg, and it depends on how often you have sex of course. Has your DP had tests run as well?
Good luck with those great results Gem, fingers crossed.
How's it going Bun, did you get some bding done?
We managed days 12, 13 & 14, but 15 was just about impossible, so we'll see.

rhetorician · 31/07/2008 15:59

rowingboat thanks - just what I need to hear right now! And like everyone else I hang on to those stories - good friend of mine just had DC2 at 41, another DD3 at 40 without too much problem (although IRL people tend not to tell you that much!). DP's tests all fine too.And I know 4 goes is just a drop in the proverbial ocean - it's just that sometimes that ocean seems awfully big and scary. Chin up then!! CD12, 13 and 14 sounds hopeful.
ladymac despite a bibulous youth I'm generally fairly good about drinking - I basically keep it very moderate, so the odd glass of wine with dinner, a couple of drinks if I'm out. But I try to keep it to a couple of times a week at most and so well below limits. I look at it as a real treat and something to look forward to. But deffo having a glass tonight
