Anyone coming to join me?

OP posts:
fifitot · 21/10/2008 08:29

Oooooh brilliant news! Well done and fingers crossed for you.

rhetorician · 21/10/2008 09:44

well, AF is here after a slow and peculiar start. So here I go again. Starting to feel very pessimistic about my chances, but guess I will keep trying for a while.

Hope everyone else is doing OK

rhetorician · 21/10/2008 09:46

herb didn't see your post before I posted - I've been wondering how you were getting on - thought that your PMT was rather suspicious. You must be feeling very conflicted, but you can't get to your lovely baby without going through this bit I guess. The best of luck to you!

rhetorician · 21/10/2008 09:50

I have a first response pregnancy test in my bedside drawer and as I am a non-tester unless my period doesn't arrive, I wonder whether I will ever get to use it It 'expires' in 2010!

rowingboat · 21/10/2008 11:05

Herb - OMG! That's fantastic news! You dark horse you!
Rhet - it's lovely to hear from you even though you have have AF. It's rubbish going though all this alone, thank you all for being there!
Daisy - everything crossed. Please let little bean stick! Let us know how you are please!
Sending you hugs and sticky vibes.
Fifi - thank you for keeping me positive.
Fruit - hello again, fancy meeting you here.

xserialshopper · 21/10/2008 13:00

Herbs WOW hope it's a sticky and CONGRATULATIONS absolutely fantastic news

OP posts:
herbaceous · 21/10/2008 13:06

Thanks girls! I can't really believe it. Even keep forgetting about it - madly busy at work, as off on hols tomorrow - which is probably the best policy.

It would explain some odd feelings - the 'PMT' I had a week before period due, huge thirst, general feeling of coming down with something...

FertilityFiend · 21/10/2008 14:10

Hi ladies - do you mind if I join you? I'm currently becoming more and more obsessed by ttc and so have been lurking here for a bit...

I'm 43, ttc number 2. No birth control since DD was born a couple of years back, but have only been 'seriously trying' for about 5 months now. Am completely hooked on FF, cheapy Ebay pee sticks (opk and hpt's) and recently started taking copious amounts of Agnus Castus and Evening Primrose, oh and B6. Currently on CD6.

That's great news Herb - fingers crossed for you.

Tabitha88 · 21/10/2008 16:24

Congratulations, Herb! Sticky, sticky thoughts to you. Enjoy your holiday.
Welcome FertilityFiend. I'm also 43 and going after baby number 1 (and only 1!)
Daisy, hope all is well with you. When things go wrong, it is too much to bear. Our worlds crash in on us, don't they?

daisy5 · 21/10/2008 16:54

herb - fantastic - congratulations - so happy for you

Thanks for all the nice messages rhet rowing tab xerial fruitbowl & fifi. I get my second blood test and scan tomorrow so find out then what the story is. My heart sank when all didn't seem well last week but I really never could have got excited about this pregnancy until I saw a heartbeat, so I am in far far better shape than last time, when I felt the world had been turned upside down. There is still a chance all is fine - but in my heart of hearts I do not believe it and am expecting the worst.

lol

FertilityFiend · 21/10/2008 17:19

Daisy - sorry to hear that you're having such a worrying time - sending lots of good wishes for tomorrow.

cece · 21/10/2008 17:32

daisy - hope scan went well.

herb - congratulations and all that !

rowing boat and everyone else who is feeling down.

rowingboat · 21/10/2008 20:25

Hi Fertility fiend - you are most welcome. This is a lovely thread and very supportive.
Sorry Daisy, I didn't mention the IVF thing. We still can't really decide so might just go with Hungary because the doctor seems very good there and probably three embryos is more than enough to have transferred.
DP and I had a big talk about it last night and he wants to keep trying naturally and keep the money for something else. I was getting all upset because I am fed-up with putting everything on hold 'just in case'. It was very helpful to talk and let off steam a little.
Even if it doesnt' work - it would be nice to have a holiday even though it would be blooming freezing.
It's soo cold today, went out to the library with DS and it was bitter. Brr!
Must get a rough guide to Hungary.
Anyone have an opinion about which country would be better to visit Poland/Hungary for things to do??

roquefortlover · 21/10/2008 22:07

Hi all!
rhet xserial and rowing sorry you are feeling . Rowing, I know nothing about either hungary or Poland I'm afraid although could have helped on the Czech Rep. I think either would be fascinating though, so reckon you should go with your research on the clinics.

daisy sorry you are having a bad time - sending you hugs and fingers crossed all is OK tomorrow.

fertilityfiend, welcome! As rowing says this is a lovely friendly thread and it is lovely to be somewhere i don't feel ludicrous for TTC at 41!

herb, am delighted about your BFP! Have a good - and sticky - week away (hmm, that sounds a bit yuk now i have typed it!)

I have been busy applying for new job and have an interview on Friday - yay! I should find out if I have it on the same day .

What makes it more complicated is that I have got a - very early so not getting hopes up - BFP ! Am not even 4 wks yet and no real symptoms except extreme tiredness and occasional dizziness. Given my 2mcs this year I am not letting myself get excited. Also I really want this job !

Anyway if I get it I will start in Jan so will have 5 months or so before mat. leave anyway - that's if this one sticks.
Anyway enough blether - not meant to be telling anyone but had to tell you lot!!

FertilityFiend · 21/10/2008 22:38

Roque - WOW congrats, how exciting!!

Rowing - Can understand your frustration re just wanting to get on with it and not put on hold any longer. Sorry can't help re the location decision - agree with others though that your confidence in the clinic is the most important thing in the long run, sounds like you're doing tons of research in that direction so go with your gut feeling I reckon.

Thanks for the welcomes, nice to be in the company of fellow old birds over 40s

Juicylucytoo · 21/10/2008 22:38

Herb, brilliant {grin]

No news here. Glad this thread is beting so good.

Will keep you posted. Day 27, so not really going to know until the weekend.

Juicylucytoo · 21/10/2008 22:46

RFL - Just seen you got one too

Wow, hope I can join you soon x

Juicylucytoo · 21/10/2008 22:48

Daisy Hope it all works out

rowingboat · 21/10/2008 23:55

Roque - that's great news. I hope this is a keeper for you. Quite right just getting on with it and applying for jobs, things will work out for you.
Are you practising your interview skills?

roquefortlover · 22/10/2008 07:49

Thanks for congrats all!

Yes, am practising interview skills frantically - about 4 years since i had one!! Thankfully am child-free today and Friday a.m so plenty of time to sort things out/prepare portfolio etc (it's a teaching job).

Also getting haircut today - It's a greyish mop atm . It will still be greyish, but hopefully more groomed!

fifitot · 22/10/2008 08:11

All these BFPs!! Marvellous. Good luck.

rhetorician · 22/10/2008 10:21

rfl coongratulations! Very glad about all the BFPs even if I am feeling rather sorry for myself, hope everyone continues to be well.

rhetorician · 22/10/2008 10:43

or even congratulations; and welcome too to fertility fiend (we do like witty on this thread!), daisy thinking of you and sending you good vibes

cece · 22/10/2008 17:50

Congraulations to roque too

rowing boat - not sure what to advise as I have no experience of IVF or Hungary/Poland. Although I do know someone with IVF triplets and she has her hands full!

fertilityfiend - welcome to the thread.

daisy5 · 22/10/2008 17:57

roque - fantastic news - congrats congrats

Thanks everyone for all your sticky thoughts.....they clearly worked as to my utter surprise, all is well with Version 2.1. It was like finding out I was pregnant all over again, as I had cried on Friday and Saturday and been low and was just starting to come to terms with it. I am still flabbergasted....but have picture of 2.1 who is 1.11mm long 7.3 weeks old and has a becoming smile (well, guessing the last bit).

rowing - I spent four days in Warsaw - it does have a pretty park in the centre and some galleries and things, but on the whole not the most attractive city and quite big. You can take the train out to the countryside though. You mentioned a choice of some other towns in Poland - which ones are they? I've been to Budapest 3 times, always passing through. The Danube runs through so there are boat trips and stuff. There is a big palace on the top of Buda Hill with an old town there. I love the Baths in the Park in Pest town where there are many different pools of different temperatures, where you just lounge. Old guys play on floating chess boards and you can book a massage. It is very relaxing. Would it be just your partner and you going there?
