Hi guys
Here is the lovely new thread. Maybe we might get some newbies as well?!?!?

OP posts:
detoxdiva · 08/07/2008 17:46

I keep meaning to ask if anyone is using those saliva microscopes to pinpoint ov? I had one when ttc dd and found it very effective (have dd as proof!!). I am planning to get another one (sold the first one on ebay - doh) next month if no luck. Just wondered if anyone has had success with one?

FlirtyThirty · 08/07/2008 17:47

Detoxdiva - any chance you could save some curry for me...? I'm home alone this evening and that sounds perfect!

Mandy - big hugs, darling! As CE said, it WILL happen. And as for adoption, yes, I thought about it even before we started TTC. I have 3 adopted friends and a good one who has adopted a little girl from overseas. If it comes to that, and it very likely won't, there are lots of options out there... BUT, don't think about that just now...you have plenty of time and resources to help you ahve your own child first. Drink a large glass of something alcoholic and focus on yourself tonight!

Flirty x

ChocolateEclair · 08/07/2008 17:48

a what? lol never heard of that and I'll try anything! explain please! ......

OP posts:
FlirtyThirty · 08/07/2008 17:49

detoxdiva - excuse the ignorance...what's a saliva microscope?! How on earth does that work?!
I'll try anything if it does...

detoxdiva · 08/07/2008 17:59

Oh blimey - I thought experienced ttc'ers would know - I'm sure I'm not making it up!!!!

Ok - it's going back a few years now but I think I got mine from Superdrug. I've just checked ebay (as I couldn't remember what it was called) and its a Calista Microscope. You put a sample of your saliva on it every morning leave for 5 minutes then examine it (you do need quite good eyesight as I recall as the lens is reeeeeely quite small.

The pattern determines whether you are close to ov or actually indeed ov. I think you look for a 'fern' pattern. If it's there, basically that's your cue to drag the old man back upstairs

Now, I had been off the pill for 18 months before I fell pregnant so I guess it was only going to be a matter of time, but perhaps using this thing helped psychologically

Worth a try!!

detoxdiva · 08/07/2008 18:01

Flirty - some curry winging it's way to you now. Dh also working late tonight so it's a treat for me and dd!!

juanitad · 08/07/2008 18:28

Hurray, just picked up new car, it is so shiny and lovely....the only problem is I am scared in it, cos I am paranoid something will happen to it, or it will get a scratch or something!! Must be very careful!!

Got to go out tonight (I am not a fan of mid-week going out!), to the school production - it is the first night, when generally the performance is a bit pants, but want to support the kids in my form who are in it! So may log on again later to check in with everyone.

Bellie, so glad all is well.

bluestarlavender · 08/07/2008 18:54

Hi everyone,

DD - I've never heard of the saliva microscope thingy...if you know where you can get one, it would be good to know.

Mandy - rant away!! We're all here to listen and commiserate! It will happen! I had a couple of friends who were trying for so long...both super fit and healthy. It took well over a year and now she's about 4.5 months pregnant.

Juanitad - hope the production goes well tonight!! Are you taking the lovely new car??

Flirty - you never know, this month might ot be a write-off...I'm on the first month TTC too and having been so ill, with so little BDing as DH is also ill, I'm writing this month off too. All I can say is it's good you have short cycles!! All the sooner for another attempt!

MJIM - mmm treats making with your DS sounds like so much fun!! I can't wait to have a little one to making choco chip rock cakes with!

CE - fingers crossed for a boy, but just general fingers crossed.

a big hi to everyone else...

I have to admit that I'm a bit lost where everyone is and who's 2WW is almost up. I'm getting ready to do some cheering when we get another BFP!
As for me, still not feeling great, but better than yesterday. I have what I call 'ovary ache' today, so I think I'm getting ovulation pains...possibly a good sign if DH feels up to BDing

BSx

bluestarlavender · 08/07/2008 18:55

Sorry Flirty, that was supposed to be 'this month might not be a write off'

Where's the spell-checker when you need it!

HumphreysCorner · 08/07/2008 19:01

Evening all

Lol-DH was just falling asleep on Sunday (he can fall asleep in the middle of me talking to him) so I made sure he soon was wide awake.

I have heard about fern samples through saliva. It was something I was considering looking into after my MC but thankfully was PG again 3 months later.

You are very chatty tonight unlike earlier.

juanitad-enjoy your new car and your night out.

HumphreysCorner-CD17 and no idea DPO. Possibly 3.

Love to all

DawnAS · 08/07/2008 19:10

Hello all!!!

I'm getting on line later and later - although Tuesday is always a busy day at work (although I work from home....) and even though I'm on the computer all day (and am very tempted to be on this site ALL the time ), really thought that I ought to do some work!!

Mandy please don't give up hope. We all thinking lots of good thoughts for you and spreading baby dust all around you - keep your chin up .

CE I'm fine thanks hun. Think I'm on CD20 of a 35 day cycle, so BDd last night and the night before, so having a night off tonight and back to it tomorrow - oh joy!!

So, my Pre-seed arrived today so planning on using that tomorrow. I only ordered it late on Sunday night so quite chuffed that it arrived so quickly. Bizarre though that it's not like KY, you have to actually insert it in - definitely a lot more scientific!! Might have a laugh with it though!!

HC I really think you ought to share your Gooseberry Crumble - I think it's only fair . It might have special baby-making ingredients!!

Hey Flirty, DetoxDiva and Juanitad, hope you ladies are all OK!!

MJIM your lunch sounded lovely and all I managed to get was peanut butter on oatcakes. I'm not quite sure where I've got that idea from, but it was quite nice!!

xxx

detoxdiva · 08/07/2008 19:30

Oh yes, the stats (we def need a recap every week - I lose track so fast!)

Im cd29...just sitting & waiting...[hopeful emoticon]

bluestarlavender · 08/07/2008 19:32

DD - how long is your usual cycle? You're being really good!!

detoxdiva · 08/07/2008 19:36

oh bluestar - cycle can be anything between 28-40 days so not getting my hopes up at all . Can't test as don't know when due - if I get to 35 days then I might be tempted

bluestarlavender · 08/07/2008 19:45

It sounds like 35 days would be a good time to test...it's awful not knowing...I'm sure I am already starting to consider symptoms!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

HumphreysCorner · 08/07/2008 19:51

The crumble was divine and I never put any sugar on the gooseberries and they weren't too sour. Will have to investigate the possible fertile benefits of gooseberries.

soosy · 08/07/2008 20:30

LOL about gooseberries HC, my recollection is that they were the ones hanging around the couples, there might be something it this.....

Mandy don't worry about it most people conceive before having their appointments and fertility treatment does not always mean IVF. But you are way off this, BTW IVF does work. if that is what is needed.

Bellie really happy to hear your news.

Have put in an offer on a house, just waiting to hear, driving me mad. I am hoping it will be tomorrow and then i can get a really cheap rental!

Lots of love to everyone, inc flirty thirty. Dawn let me know about the preseed it may actually help DH's swimmers, which do need armbands (pmsl CE!)

Evening all - you have been chatty today

Have been busy at work and in meetings most of the day so not able to MN - how bloody inconsiderate eh??

Soosy - fab news about the house - really hope it works out for you.

Saliva microscope that sounds fantastic and I think I would have enjoyed using that so much more than taking temps (which I didn't do as it seemed to much like hard work)

Juanitad - how is the car? What colour did you get? MIL has a dark blue one which looks nice. I am picking mine up tomorrow after work - yippee!! I wasn't expecting it until the weekend but it has arrived sooner - have said a very farewell to my little baby Ka - I will miss it very much but I know I am fortunate in being able to have a brand new car so I mustn't grumble!

DS's party(s) are on Sunday - I booked a soft-play area for the morning as I couldn't face having people round/catering/cleaning etc but have somehow ended up with having a family party in the afternoon at our house anyway He has got 11 friends coming in the morning including his best friend from nursery (if you can have best friends at 2 ) - although this best friend was born 2 days before him so his party is on Saturday so a busy weekend!!

Hope you are all having a good evening - am missing the tennis !

FlirtyThirty · 08/07/2008 21:00

Hi lovely ladies...

Thought I'd add my stats: CD 13 (cycle length 25/26 days). I always hated having quite short cycles in the past but now we're TTC I'm actually quite grateful. Funny how things change...

Soosy - good luck with house! that's so exciting...

Dawn - sorry to be graphic...but how exactly does preseed work? How does it help the swimmers?!

Anyone... - am I the only one who finds it impossible to analyse discharge and doesn't ever have OV pains?!

Flirty x

ceebee74 · 08/07/2008 21:01

Oh and for good measure here is some lovely sparkly lucky baby dust for all you lovely ladies
