Hi guys
Here is the lovely new thread. Maybe we might get some newbies as well?!?!?

OP posts:
HumphreysCorner · 03/07/2008 13:55

PMSL at getting DH to finish in the breaks of BB. DH is not to disturb me when BB is on or else! If you look at the top of this page under Useful stuff there is an acronym list which is very helpful. TMI coming up-DH had me semi laid on my dressing table stool which is small so couldn't lay on it after the deed so of course when I stood up it all ran out-gggrrrrhhh!!! Not doing that again. Oh, and I wonder still how these 'accidents' happen when you are on the pill. It has happened to DH's cousins children. Also the mum at school who is now 16 weeks-they weren't trying as this will be No4. Complete accident. DD1 took a year to conceive and I remember DH discussing that there is no point me taking the pill as I don't fall PG anyway! Took a change of job to make it happen-was too busy conentrating on my new role to freak out about TTC hence fell PG the first month of new job

Waffling now.

Love to all

HC

HumphreysCorner · 03/07/2008 13:57

Infact, fell PG with DD2 after I accepted a job but they still let me sign the contract. Perhaps I should get back to work then hey presto, it might happen.

Bellie · 03/07/2008 15:04

Welcome to DawnAS - think you are going to fit in fine round here with all the info you have shared so far am absolutely loving the timing around the ad breaks!! Good luck to you with ttc!

HC - maybe you shoul go back to work as if having 2 isn't work!! Hope you get a +ve tonight!

MJIM - your dh is wonderful! Can he come on here to share his thoughts with my dh . DH is wonderful but sometimes get a bit too wrapped up in his work!
I am seeing the midwife on Monday and my 12 week scan is on Monday 21st July.

Mandy - hope the blues stay away - or are they another sign (bellie lights symptom spotting touchpaper and runs away ....)

Must dash to pick up dd from nursery - wave to all - CE, Ceebee, Majormoo, bb, sparkletoes, detoxdiva, Juanitad and anyone else I have missed

DawnAS · 03/07/2008 16:07

HumphreysCorner thanks for the tip on the acronym list - I'm sure my neighbours wonder why I'm laughing so loud !! (Luckily I work from home - it would be even more embarassing explaining to my colleagues what I'm laughing at!!) .

I just want to say a massive "Thank you" to everyone that's replied to my messages today. I feel a lot more relaxed after reading them!! And since DH and I have been BDing too much, I finally get a break tonight and can watch uninterrupted BB and of course it's Thursday so, Gossip Girl too!!

By the way, totally going off the subject, but I heard on the news today that all the Cast of "Friends" have decided to make a Film - yay!!

Oh well, back to work ....

xxxx

ChocolateEclair · 03/07/2008 16:27

Hi guys

mandy - you're funny, but HC has had me in stitches over the "DH had me over the dressing room stool" line!!! We do lead interesting lines don't we!?!?!?

We decided not to go to the cinema but to stay in and BD!!! Well we can go to the cinema ny week but you only ov once a month so it made no sense! Still no +ve opk here but lots of EWCM and sex drive is through the roof! (mine not DP's!). I have year 7 parents eveniong tonight but might be back on later.

MJIM - your DH sounds fab. I can't say mine is quite that romantic but he's not bad. I do like it when he does stuff round the house though!

Dawn - my cycles are around 31-33 days and I def ovulate around CD17-Cd19 so we kept missing it for the first few months as I wrongly assumed that most women ovulate around CD14! Try to look out for changes in CM - it really works but is a bit gross! You are definetly in the right place here, we're all crackers and a bit TMI obsessed. Well you can't exactly talk to RL people about it can you!?

Will catch up with everyone else later xxxx

Mandy73 · 03/07/2008 17:08

HC PMSL!!!

Dawn PMSL at the BB BD schedule too.Happy you are feeling better about stuff. It's good to share!

Bellie thanks! But seriously, symptom spotting obsessing at 5 dpo or so has got to be 100% futile, surely there is nothing 'there' yet to cause any changes? What say you, oracles with child/children? I am seriously upset with myself for doing this already. Feels like I'm just building myself up for another disappointment. But hey, if you want'em - here goes: Cervix high, soft & open, lots of CM (like fertile kind but white), AF-like cramps & twinges, sleepy, fluey, sensitive to smells, hungry, fuller boobs.

MJIM what Bellie said. Your DH seems lovely.

CE So happy you had a good evening - ride the waves of lust I say !

Waves to everyone. Hope you have a nice evening. xx

purlease · 03/07/2008 17:16

just posted this on a new thread but I think i may get the answers here. Mandy 73 noticed your advice earlier on not having sex every day - not sure DH will be too happy .

Anyway this was my post elsewhere

Need expert views on timing. Despite having one DD and studying science at university I've never really paid much attention to my cycle. But as I am desperately TTC I need to know when I should seduce DH

Had a miscarriage in April, period after this started 21st May. First cycle, I got pregnant again - BFP on the 19th June. Bleeding on the 27th June and a BFN. So I'm back to square one

DawnAS · 03/07/2008 17:36

Mandy, with the whole symptoms thing, obviously I am very novice at all this talk, but my best mate took 4 months to get PG (which doesn't seem long) and knew before even taking the PG test and her next AF visit, that she was. She had "tingly" boobs and just "felt" different within a few days of conception.

All seems strange to me because obviously I've never experienced it, but you may be getting the right symptoms...

So all, sad as it may seem, due to the confusion at reading all your messages, I've printed off the list of acronyms!!

Definitely PMSL now [grin}!! Even ROFL to the complete bemusement of my 2 year old yellow labrador!!

How funny!!

Anyway, DH will be home soon so better go, but BBS.

Mandy73 · 03/07/2008 17:54

Hi Purlease, so sorry to hear about your experiences. OK everyone, sorry about this mega sperm post:

I'm no timing/swimmer expert! But I embrace us having this conversation.
And I'm a fine one to talk, we had lots of it on consecutive days during our latest 'BD fest' (21 june - 1 july, OPK surge detected 28 june). Although we did try to do it at different times as to allow maximum 'build up'. Should explain in the past I'v been kicking myself for not starting earlier & finishing later in the cycle (the released egg lives longer than I knew), plus not simply doing it more often at the crucial time.

BUT: My hobby research tells me some investigations say doing it more than every other day is not great - if sperm count is low (we don't know that). Every other day, however, is ultimate - if sperm count is on the low side.

'Saving up' on the other hand is supposed to be bad if many of the sperm have abnormalities. Am I right in my sweeping generalisations here ladies?

Then, crucially, several men report they feel if they ejaculate too often 'only dribble comes out' after a couple of days. Yes and no - less male mucus & pressure build up for sure. Sheer logic tells us that may have a negative impact though.

I also read an online article yesterday saying american & israeli studies show regular, 'high quality' DB-ing (ie female orgasm crucial) in the 6 days before OV is v effective for conception, much more so than previously thought.

I still think my GP said it best: "3 times a week, at regular intervals, no matter what time in the cycle you think it is. This method, although slightly regimented, can help the couple relax and ensures there is always a fresh sperm supply waiting for the egg, even when it decides to drop at a weird time."

detoxdiva · 03/07/2008 18:06

Hi ladies

Just popping by quickly between collecting dd from nursery and doing the tea!

Welcome to dawnas - you sound in a similar situation to me. I was on Dianette for 10 years (prescribed for acne which I then discovered was as a result of pcos). My periods to 18 months to return so it's great news for you that they have come back already.

The best bit about being off the pill is being able to see the differences during my cycle, so I can have a good idea when I am ovulating - good luck with ttc - hopefully you'll have some food news soon!

MJIM - great pics and what a lovely dh!!

HC - pmsl at the dressing room stool! That'll teach you to be so adventurous

Mandy73 -fingers crossed for the 2ww

Right have to go - dh working late tonight but going to wait up for him as all the signs are telling me this may be a good time .

detoxdiva · 03/07/2008 18:07

food news????

Hey myjobismum,

How cute is your DS?! . Let's hope he remains as excited when the new DD/S steals his toys - !!

Mandy thanks for all the hints and tips on timings. Discussed it with DH over dinner (not sure that's quite the time but anyway [blush}), he's a bit gutted () but I'm sure he'll cope.

One question though, when you say about "Quality" BDing, does it matter if it happens after DH has his fun because we're not lucky enough to get the timing that good to have it at the same time (if you get my drift - )?

xxx

ChocolateEclair · 03/07/2008 19:38

mjim - that's very cute. DP is laughing! Have fun with your friends.

mandy - I am thinking you are now a total fertility expert. You should change your career! How much time do you spend googling sperm???? pmsl I didn't have any symptoms when I got my BFP - I was convinced it would be BFN! However, I was very tired that week so I suppose that was a symptom.

Welcome to purlease - we do it every day in my house! I think you only need to do it every other day if there are problems with sperm quantity. There a 6 billion sperm (I think) each time, so even if you are reducing it a bit, there's still going to be like 4 billion! And as for staying laid down, I read that after 20 mins only the semen is left - any swimmers that are going to swim will be through the cervix by then!

Do you think some of our cycles are coming in line with each other? It's weird that so many of us seem to be ovulating at similar times don't you think?!?!?

I have been asked to host a Body shop party in 2 weeks time at my house! Someone at work, it's their daughter who runs them. Going to have it on a night when DP is at the pub due to hopefully a house full of women! Quite excited but a bit nervous that noone will come! What if noone buys anything? Oooooo!

ChocolateEclair · 03/07/2008 19:41

Oh God just read that back and I sound like a sex maniac. I meant "we do it every other day during the fertile time!"

OP posts:

every other day grrrr
Brain is fried!!!

DawnAS · 03/07/2008 19:43

Hey *ChocolateEclair",

Bodyshop parties are fab!! I'm sure you'll get lots of people there . If not, invite us all and we'll have an online party!!

All in favour of promoting Mandy, make a silly face !!

xx

ceebee74 · 03/07/2008 19:48

Evening all!

MJIM - how lovely of your DS

Mandy - lol at your essay on sperm You obviously have far too much time on your hands! As for symptoms, I didn't have any obvious ones that I can remember initially although with DS, it was the tiredness and sore boobs that made me do a pg test - I had started bleeding about the time AF was due so obviously assumed that was my AF as you would but a couple of weeks later when I was still bleeding and very tired and had sore boobs, I figured a pg test wouldn't do any harm - and DS was the result This time round - no symptoms that I can think of until about 6 weeks when the nausea kicked in. But, having said that, the symptoms you have described do sound positive

HC - lol at the 'dressing room table' - what an exciting life you lead

I normally go straight to the bathroom after doing the deed - mainly because I am very prone to cystitis - but when TTC, I used to lie there for about 15 minutes (but not with my hips raised or anything).

DH is off tomorrow (although as he has been at home all week, not sure how I could tell the difference ) so we are planning a lovely shopping/lunch day in Manchester - just the 2 of us! I can't wait tbh - we have no babysitters to use so we can never have an evening out together so we have to make the most of oppotunities whilst DS is at nursery.

ceebee74 · 03/07/2008 19:49

Oops meant to say, CE, that people will come to a Body Shop party and once they are there, will always spend money so don't worry - it will be fab!! I love those sort of things - have been to a couple of Virgin Vie ones which were great.

Bellie · 03/07/2008 19:55

Wow - I am learning sooo much about sperm and I thought that I was becoming an expert as we were starting down the investigation route!
Mandy - I was commenting on here that I had no af symptoms just before I got my bfp. The only thing that happened was that I was tired, and the night before I had my bfp I had the most vivid dream about getting a +ve and I could see the dna forming!! Nausea kicked in about 6 weeks and has started to go now (10 weeks) but sometimes can catch me unawares!

Ceebee - I know what you mean about making opportunities when they are nursery - it definatly came in handy everyso often when ttc

CE - I know if I went to a bodyshop party I would have to buy something as it is lovely stuff! Love the foot lotion - mmust stock up as it is fantastic when pg!

Bellie · 03/07/2008 19:56

Oops meant to say welcome to purlease - sorry to hear what you have been through but wishing you all the luck xx

DawnAS · 03/07/2008 20:06

Hey Purlease,

You're in really good hands here .

Only starting posting messages today and I already feel soooo much better and much more informed.

And they're all great ladies too!!

xx

Mandy73 · 03/07/2008 20:33

Detoxdiva, thanks and fingers crossed for you too, have fun!

CE, thanks - but h*ll no! Body Shop party sounds great, you seem lovely & they have so many affordable things I'm sure people will come & buy!

Ceebee V interesting about your (lack of) PG symptoms, thanks for sharing. I hope you have a lovely day out, it sounds great. Hmm... not exactly too much time on my hands but spot on with the 'essay' - I'm a writer (although I can't spell or anything ) so used to absorb research almost by osmosis & then rattle it off.

Bellie, that's right, I remember now! Seeing DNA forming in your dream, that's amazing, so poetic.

Darling DawnAS you can ask me aaanything and I'll do my best to answer :

"evidence suggests that the female's orgasm after the male's will draw semen up through cervix into uterus" (for more science, click on link 10:11 here; More on this delicate topic than you ever wanted to worry about - you have been warned: www.fertilityplus.org/faq/lowtechfaq.html

juanitad · 03/07/2008 20:39

Evening all,

Another busy day on this thread..ever since mjim got us all to buck up our ideas a few weeks ago, when we were all getting a but slack at posting on here, it's been mega-busy here! Well done mjim! Welcome to all the newbies, fingers crossed this thread's good luck (I think I make it 6 graduates of TTC at the moment!) spreads to everyone else.

Don't know who said that there was going to be a Friends film, but I definitely need to know more! I loved Friends and was sad when it finished (I think that probably makes me a little bit sad though!!)

DawnAS · 03/07/2008 21:23

Hey Juanitad,

It was me that said about the Friends film. I heard it on the news this morning. Apparently all 6 of the guys have agreed to do it and they're starting production over the next 18 months... so keep an ear out..

Mandy, I'm thinking of sending all my NI contributions to you in future - you are the font of all (baby) knowledge and can probably advise more than most GPs!!

Anyway - "Mammia Mia" - The Abba Story is back on now (I really am THAT sad!), so must dash!!
