Hi guys
Here is the lovely new thread. Maybe we might get some newbies as well?!?!?

MJIM - lovely lovely photos - your DS looks like such a cheeky cutey boy

My 19-week bump looks about the size of yours did at 22 weeks

Good evening everyone!!

I'm actively avoiding the tennis as I'm sure I jinx things!!

Saw the movie Wanted last night...awesome!! I loved it, but then I'm a bit of a action movie fan, loving Buffy the Vampire, Tomb Raider, Spiderman type stuff...it was a little like The Matrix, but not quite as dark. So much fun. there were also some great trailers, like Mammamia - which I am also feeling the need to see. The trailer looked great!

MJIM - your pictures are great!! Your DS is such a cutey and the bump is looking good!

ceebee74 · 02/07/2008 21:17

MJIM - your DH is an absolute star isn't he? To cook you a lovely meal when he is on a break from cooking hundreds of meals for other people shows he has an absolute heart of gold - you lucky thing!!

bluestarlavender · 02/07/2008 21:23

MJIM - I totally agree with CeeBee!! Your DH is fab for cooking for you guys like that. It's very sweet.

My DH is off playing his weekly golf game tonight and I'm not being the good wife...he has freezer curry when he gets home...

Ok, I'm back and for disappearing. DH is back from his travels and we have been working on joint stuff together (long overdue) and going out a bit. Which basically means I haven't been able to sneak in any MN time . He's taken DS to nursery now so I'm catching up on the thread.

Glad everyone is well. Lovely pics all around. Must look up a pic of this Nadal on google next to see what all the fuss is about. Not a tennis fan, as you can tell!

The peeing is not so bad now. And that's it symptoms-wise. It's just like with DS - hardly any complaints in the first trimester - just hope it stays that way!

Stats:

HumphreysCorner TTC No3 for 3 cycles CD10
Bellie - 9+5 edd 29 Jan
Ceebee74 - 18+6, EDD 26 Nov (have DS who is 2)
Mandy73 - TCC #1 for 11 cycles, CD 17
BlueStar - TCC #1 for 1st cycle, CD 8
Chestercat TTC#2-1st(serious)cysly CD17
Detoxdiva - TTC #2 CD 21 of 1st month
chocolateeclair - TTC#1 CD16 (MC last month after 4 cycles)
Myjobismum - 26+3 EDD 5 Oct (have a DS who is 2y8m)
Wellies - 5 wks exactly

WelliesAndPyjamas · 03/07/2008 08:19

Having re-read my thread I wanted to clarify that "working on joint stuff together" means we have been catching up on work that we do jointly for our company. Not some weird exercise routine for our joints and not a drug problem either!!!

Have checked out Nadal on goggle. Phoar . I approve, ladies.

ceebee74 · 03/07/2008 08:53

Morning

Wellies - now can you see why we are all tennis fans ? Glad you are sympton-free and I hope it stays that way for you (dare I say that I didn't have any symptoms until 6 weeks and then the constant nausea started!)

MJIM - I am of your DH. My Dh wouldn't know a romantic gesture if it slapped him in the face - but I do love him and he does do a hell of a lot round the house so I can't complain (although a bunch of flowers wouldn't go amiss just occasionally!)

Just taken DS to nursery - I walked there with him in the pushchair. It is about a 10 minute walk each way but going is all uphill - the idea is that when I am on maternity leave, I will walk there every day - hah!! It was bloody hard work today so I am never going to do it when I am 8 months pg am I??

Having said that, I am just off to the gym to do an aerobics class - which is just mad really as I can do that no problem but can't manage a 10-minute walk pushing a 2-stone toddler

Have a good day.

DawnAS · 03/07/2008 09:18

Morning All,

Any chance that I can join this thread? I'm new to all this and am right at the beginning of the TTC process.

Scared and stressed which probably isn't helping... Need to ask questions...

Help gratefully received!

I'm 34 and have been on Dianette for 8 years. Got married 3 months ago after trying to find Mr Right since the age of 18!!

I came off of the pill just before the wedding and have had normal cycles since, although when I say normal, they are longer, 5 weeks instead of 4.

Unfortunately I'm really impatient and when I decide to do something, expect it to happen straight away, so already starting on the Ovulation Kits (sorry, I'm sure there's an acronym for this....) which are giving mixed "negative" results but no real "positive" results yet.

Doing the deed every night with hubby, much to his delight - although as it's the first month of properly trying, I'm sure the novelty will wear off. Are we doing it too much? Can you do it too much?

Any help guys - from a complete novice!!

HumphreysCorner · 03/07/2008 10:04

Hello DawnAS-you are most welcome. I used to be on Dianette many moons ago for acne. Congrats on finally meeting Mr Right and getting married. Took me nearly as long and I got married in 2001 aged nearly 32. Am nearly 39 and TTC No3. Had DD1 at nearly 34 so similar age to you. Lots of luck and we are fans of POAS (peeing on a stick-both OPKs and PG tests-well, I am ) so we are happy to help.

Damned OPK was negative last night so that means no BDing tonight on the usual OV day of CD12. Maybe something to do with my short cycle last month. Hope I do actually OV as I can't wait another month before testing.

Off to meet my friend this morning-hi to all.

CE, how was Wanted? (quite fancy it too)
Ceebee, congrats on the car!

Well done with all the sorting. Just had a look at your pics, lovely!
Bluestar, I?m glad you liked Wanted. I?m smitten by the Mama Mia trailer too ? and it?s normally the type of film I?d loath!
HC good luck with the OPK-ing.
Wellies, happy to hear you are doing well!
Welcome DawnAS! You can ask anything here. Impatient I can understand but please try not to be scared or stressed, it?s counter productive. We?re a similar age and DH and I have been TCC #1 for 11 cycles now ? not that uncommon I understand! It?s good that you?ve been charting yourself a bit. When you say ?five week cycles? how many cycle days (CDs) is that exactly? What CD are you on now? Sounds like you may be OVing late. Probably a good idea to do the OPK (ovulation test sticks/pack) but it may end up costing you a fortune so temping may be an option for you? Sex (?BDing?) every day may be counter productive ? 3 times a week or every other day would allow some time for new troups to build up. x

Waves to everyone, hope you?re OK. Had 2ww blues kicking in yesterday ? whacked, fluey, down ? and already secretly symptom spotting (mad) but picked myself up today & decided to bury myself in work to make the time fly by (yeah right).

DawnAS · 03/07/2008 10:21

Hi Mandy73,

Wow, that's a lot of great advice in a couple of short sentences. Hubby will be gutted about the reduction in "BDing" -

My cycle is 35 days (give or take a day...). Hmmm, see which CD I'm on is a tricky one. (I really do feel like I'm 14 again). If I count from when there was a slight change in my usual (I don't know even know what to call it so I find this sometimes works...) "stuff" when I'm due on, then I'm currently on day 19, but if I take it from the day that there was DEFINITELY something there, I'm only on day 14... . I think that's why I'm doing the kits. The change from my cycle on the pill to the one off the pill is quite extreme. Different length, different type of "stuff", so it's difficult to judge.

Are you sensing my confusion?!!

By the way - do you do the "pillow under the hips" thing afterwards? I heard that it works a treat and if nothing else, it certainly promotes laughter - I don't think I've ever laughed so much in my life !!!

xxxx

Mandy73 · 03/07/2008 10:41

Hi again DawnAS,
Sorry about the long cycles - the wait is worse for you. Your 'stuff' we tend to abbreviate CM (cervical mucus). I understand it doesn't matter if it's going pink, peach, blood streaked, lumpy or brown - many people get that in the week leading up to AF and it won't matter - the 1st day of AF ('Aunty Flow'; period) and CD1 is always counted from when you are properly coming on. If I had to guess it could well be another 5 days or more before you OV - if you are OVing this month (frustratingly not everyone does that regularly). Not that BDing in the days leading up to OV isn't any good - it is!

Although I'm no expert here, others please jump in and correct me if needed!

Moreover, I found this slightly loopy but informative site really helpful & interesting - you may too:
www.peeonastick.com/

Yeah, I tend to stay in bed a bit with a pillow under my bum, letting DH get on with showering, cooking & cleaning

DawnAS · 03/07/2008 11:07

Hi again Mandy,

Thanks for much for that, so, if that's the case, yes, I think it'll be a few days before I OV.

Unfortunately (for you!), that leads me to another question. If CD1 isn't until AF is properly here, AF only lasts about 1 or 2 days for me. Is that normal or something I should be worried about? . Not that I worry much !!

I usually get my hubby to finish during the breaks for Big Brother so that I've got something to watch while I'm propped up!! . Not that it's worth watching, but I need something to stop me falling asleep in that position and waking up with a bad back - .

I'm sure cavewomen didn't have these problems!!

ceebee74 · 03/07/2008 11:26

Welcome DawnAS

I have been on the pill since I was 17 - first came off it when I was 31 to TTC and then went back on it after DS was born years ago - came off it again in October last year to TTC again. Both times I have come off it my cycles have been erratic to say the least! I had 'normal' cycles of 28 days and then others that went on for 38 days (those are by far the worst as you keep getting negative pg tests and get really disheartened)!! I think it just takes time to settle - I could always tell when I OV though as I always had a distinct change in CM and this tended to be around CD21 so I am obviously a late OVer (iykwim!)

Not sure this answers your question - sorry! It is still early days for you - the average length of time is 6 months you know?

x

ceebee74 · 03/07/2008 11:27

Meant to also say you made me giggle with an image of you telling your DH to hurry up as the advert break was just about to finish

DawnAS · 03/07/2008 11:57

Ha ha ha ceebee 74, I thought it would make people laugh - I knew ad breaks were there for a reason - you start to welcome the 5 minute ones !!!

Believe me, I am VERY early - this is only the first month of trying - so you girls really are with me from the off!! So no doubt I'll be the last one left on here writing to myself.. Maybe by then I'll have picked up so much info, I'll be able to answer myself too!!

I'm just such a worrier though and sooooo impatient. Plus, being 34, I do read all the horror stories about things being so much more difficult at my age etc etc...

Hopefully though, they're all wrong!!

Maybe I just need to chill and continue living for those ad breaks!!

Mandy73 · 03/07/2008 12:23

DawnAS, Much like Ceebee my cycles took time to settle when I came off the pill (although that was 7 years ago). I understand your stress & worry completely - our generation of women often get crap for being 'control freaks' but in fairness I think we've had to be - we grew up with completely different pressures (and positive options, don't get me wrong!) to earlier generations so has had to look after ourselves/find our own way quite a bit, no?
Re. short AF: Since I turned 30 my AF has also changed - it's over in 2-3 days these days but proceeded by 4 - 5 days of pink/brown/blood streaked CM, then a day or so of dryness (sorry, TMI) but GP & online research tells me it's completely normal.

Hey mandy73 thanks for even more advice - it's so helpful to know that I'm not the only one. In fact, it makes me wonder how all the teenagers fall pregnant on their first time .

I've got 3 sisters. My eldest has two children but needed fertility treatment (injections) to have hers. My younger sister thought she may have the same problem and fell pregnant straight away and my youngest sister is only 22 and just been diagnosed with endemitreosis (I know the spelling's wrong - sorry...) after 2 miscarriages - so guessing you can sort of understand my anxiety. . But I'm counting on taking after my Mum as she managed to pop out 5 of us with no problems at all! .

Thankyou myjobismum. Can you help me understand that acronyms with the "D"s, "DS", "DH" etc. Doesn't take much to confuse me....
