...how long did your second take?

Everyone I know has taken much longer the second time and I'm wondering how much I should factor that into plans for #2 - obviously I'm aware it could happen and we'd be prepared for that, but want to manage expectations!

3 months for my second.

It took 1 contraceptive fuck up for us to conceive our second.

I took 2 cycles for #1, 3 cycles for #2 and #3 I got pregnant the first month we tried. I think it is just random.

I didn’t get pregnant the first month we tried, but I did the second.

1st time every time for 10 pregnancies, although only two went to term. DM got pregnant first time twice for me and my brother. DD1 got pregnant first time of trying this year. IMO, something runs in the family!

First try both times!

2nd took about a year with 2 mc.

Second try first time, first try second time.

Wow, didn't expect so many replies so fast! Thank you all for sharing, good to see different perspectives. Age is not on my side so I'm a bit worried about it taking ages.

3 pregnancies and it happened the first month we tried

My first took 2 months and my second took 1 month (both early 30s).

First pregnancy age 28 was the first month of trying. Two years later our second child took 6 months to conceive.

Second month
i was 34

1st pregnancy was 1st try (29). 2nd pregnancy was 2nd try (33) (miscarried) and 3rd pregnancy was 3rd try (34).

Go figure! Added my ages above too.

We're not aiming for another try but part of me wonders if it would follow the pattern.

By accident, on last day of period 5 weeks after quitting breastfeeding.

First was one time and we weren’t trying. Second was 1 month, third 3 months.

Ages 25, 27 and 31.

I was the other way round. First took 2 month(28)second was a one hit wonder! 😂(32)

9 months. I was 29, vs 26 when pregnant with my first.

All 3 of mine were conceived the first month of trying (no ovulation strips or anything, just lots of sex). I was 36, 38 and 41 when they were born. But I am now 54 and still having periods. My Mum had a late menopause as well so maybe check with your Mum when she had hers and that might give you an idea of when to expect yours and will give you an idea of how much time you might have.

2nd month of trying for the 1st - 1st month of trying for the 2nd (babies born 18 months apart)

First time (35), first month, healthy baby
second time (40), 7 months, miscarriage
third time (41), 6 months, miscarriage
fourth time (41), 2 months, healthy baby

Same as first DC, first try. Thought it would take longer, ended up not being able to make my sister's wedding as it was several hours drive away, on my due date. Be careful with dates!

First time everytime we didn't actively prevent 😁

Straight away for first, 11 or 12 months for second

9 months for my second and first try on my 3rd
