...how long did your second take?

Everyone I know has taken much longer the second time and I'm wondering how much I should factor that into plans for #2 - obviously I'm aware it could happen and we'd be prepared for that, but want to manage expectations!

Both mine were on the first go. Did track period / ovulation windows both times though.

SylvesterandTweetyPie · 22/09/2025 19:01

With both of ours, we had a conversation about trying for a baby, and within the month, I was pregnant. We are very fortunate and dont take it for granted. We have been very blessed.

Straightomyhead · 22/09/2025 19:09

Just for balance, with my first it took 11 months and then my second pregnancy it was within the first month but we sadly lost them, and now been 5 months and still going.

MightyGoldBear · 22/09/2025 19:28

Year and a half to concieve my second no idea why. Potentially just stress and exhaustion.
Annoyingly my periods come back After 6 weeks of giving birth each time despite breastfeeding for 2+ years each time.

Lalapopo · 22/09/2025 19:34

First try for both first and second. We were 33 and 36 and then 35 and 37 when they were born (it all happened much quicker than we thought it would!)

duothea · 22/09/2025 19:35

First go for my first, then 4 years and IVF for my second

gingangirly · 22/09/2025 19:42

Immediately the second time too. First was an accident (first time sleeping with new bf) second pregnancy was with husband to be one month before we got married and as soon as we stopped using contraception.

Squishydishy · 22/09/2025 19:43

1st month dc1

9th month dc2

bonus baby dc3

gingangirly · 22/09/2025 19:44

Forgot to add, before falling with my first I tried for 2 years with ex husband. Split up, met new guy, bang!

TheHillIsMine · 22/09/2025 19:45

2 months.

CornflakeGirlsClub · 22/09/2025 19:45

3 months for second

incognitomouse · 22/09/2025 19:48

I conceived all three on first time 😐

Lollystar15 · 22/09/2025 20:30

1st child took 8 months.

2nd child i fell pregnant on the third month but miscarried. We started trying again in January and are still waiting so 9 months now.

Geranium1984 · 22/09/2025 20:33

Four months of trying for my second

Delphinium20 · 22/09/2025 20:45

DD1 was surprise. We had sex once in middle of 4-month span (work distance). DD2 was after second month of going off pill (DH work back then meant I didn’t see him for weeks at a time). DD2 was a one-time „let’s try tonight“. I was 33 and 38 respectively. I consider myself very lucky to have only been pregnant twice with 2 healthy children as a result.

My Dsis tried for much longer so sometimes I think mine was purely timing as I know I have only one working fallopian tube due to an injury as a young teen. I guess that one tube was an overachiever.

Do88byisfree · 22/09/2025 20:45

1st pregnancy 1st month. 2nd was a surprise 7 months after eldest was born. Be very careful!

stargirl1701 · 22/09/2025 20:46

First month for my second too. All 4 pregnancies were conceived in the first month of trying.

stepmumdramas · 22/09/2025 20:48

1st pregnancy 1st time and miscarried.
2nd pregnancy 12 months
3rd and 4th around 6-8 months
5th 1st time

jill5676 · 22/09/2025 20:49

2 months for the 1st at age 30 and first try for the 2nd at 34. I was tracking my cycle very closely both times which may have helped. But it may also just be luck!

Purplemoon16 · 22/09/2025 20:50

It took me over a year to conceive my first, I presumed it would be the same for my second but I was pregnant first try. Now 30 weeks.

Thatpastalife · 22/09/2025 20:51

First try on both.

TimetoGetUpNow · 22/09/2025 21:02

First pregnancy- accidental (miscarried)
Started trying immediately for DC1, took 15 months
DC2 - accidental (ahem, lesson clearly not learnt).

The accidental pregnancies were very early in my cycle (eg day 7), which is probably why I couldn’t get pregnant quickly when actually trying.

RadiatorDrying · 22/09/2025 21:05

SixSeven · 22/09/2025 15:30

Second try first time, first try second time.

Same here @SixSeven

I was 31 first time and 36 the second.

arcticpandas · 22/09/2025 21:08

Both my first and second was conceived after 1 intercourse. I'm not in to sex at all so we didn't have it often that's how I know that it was all it took. Have not had sex since and it's probably for the best since we only wanted two.

Piratejenny99 · 22/09/2025 21:23

First ever time having unprotected sex with my first.

Never conceived naturally again but conceived first try with IVF.
