This was me @Muddysocks1im hoping in a few days you see a line xx

Obviously I caved and tested WAY too early and then spent half an hour staring at the tests and wiggling them in the light as convinced I saw “something”. I think the issue with easy at home, is you can a very very slightly reflective line where the test line would get colour if positive, which when you’re testing early tricks you into thinking it could be a VVFL. When the light catches it
You see where the line would go and it’s really deceptive!

I totally know what you mean here! I noticed this before I dipped my first PreMom test. I was then very cautious of that little denty test window 🤣

@charlzz hey I'm like you, got a GP appt on Tuesday to have pretty much the same conversation! Are you feeling optimistic that they will give the green light for these blood tests? I spoke to an ex midwife who advised me what to ask for and she said to ask about checking for blood clotting disorders too. I'm feeling apprehensive as I am anticipating being told 'no investigations until you've had 3 losses' which seems harsh but I guess they have their rationale. I also haven't met this GP before but it's a woman so I'm naively hoping she'll be sympathetic!

So I actually filled in the Tommy's miscarriage risk calculator and at the end it said that even though referrals to the recurrent miscarriage clinic usually happen after 3 losses, GPs can do bloods after 2 to start the process and check some basics. So I'm going to mention that if I get pushback. Good to know about the clotting disorders. I'll mention that too! I really want my iron levels and thyroid doing at a minimum, which I think they will as they're pretty normal blood tests anyway that you'd get for all sorts of complaints. I'm less optimistic about them checking my progesterone but if they refuse I'll probably get on online test to do at home on day 21 next cycle as I believe low progesterone is a common reason for early losses. I hope it goes well for you! It seems so cruel to make us wait for 3 losses when it could be something easy to fix causing them - it's just unnecessary suffering and heartbreak!

@charlzz@hollyhocks2best of luck with your appointments! Just wanted to say that my GP has been really proactive. I'm 38 and have been trying for 7 months with 2 miscarriages in that time. They did the basic bloods which all came back fine! And then automatically booked me in for some hormone bloods to be taken between day 2-5 of cycle I think and also got a pelvic ultrasound. I've been very impressed and I hope you recieve the same support from your GPs. X

Ec2808 · 03/06/2025 20:43

A bit confused tonight could use your help if possible…just asked google ai and says there’s a faint second line on my test??? How is that possible? What do you think? Don’t know what dpo because thought i didn’t have my surge yet???

That's so good to hear, it means so much to be listened to by your doctor doesn't it! Did anything show up for you on any of the tests?

I'm obviously holding onto the sliver of hope that I'll be pregnant by next Monday by my appointment, a girl's gotta dream right 😂

I've found Chatgpt to be so inconsistent. It basically says what I want to hear a lot of the time. When I have gone back and said "are you sure there is a second line? I can't see anything." It often comes back with "you're right, on closer inspection there is no second line". It was so frustrating so I stopped using it for this. I can't see anything on your tests but that doesn't mean nothing is there, cameras often don't pick up the start of a faint line x

FlyHighSky72 · 03/06/2025 21:04

@Ec2808havent ever used chapgpt for tests but I agree I can’t see anything on those tests I’m afraid (but agree it doesn’t mean there isn’t one, just hard to see on the photo. Plus if you don’t know what dpo you are it might be too early)

Just to add also my gp has been so lovely! I saw one before who wasn’t very unhelpful, so I switched and I really recommend it. If you see someone who doesn’t listen or you feel dismissed by, it’s worth trying to see someone else.

Muddysocks1 · 03/06/2025 21:24

I don’t know if this shows up once uploaded but it’s like I can see a very slight shadow, and every month I get my hopes up, but I think it’s just the reflectivey strip. I’m only 6/7dpo so it would be very unlikely a hcg line!

I looked into doing a progesterone day 21 test too but saw these reviews which put me off a bit…

https://www.reddit.com/r/TryingForABaby/comments/1anl328/anyone_with_experience_using_proovs_pdg_tests/

I had read this article about how important progesterone is for stabilising your uterine lining - I’m convinced that’s what my problem is, as I have a shortish LP (10ish days) and spotting before period.

And it seems like such an easy fix to just take a progesterone supplement!

The Proov pdg tests are different to the day 21 blood test though. I think the Proov tests maybe have some use but I’ve read a lot of criticism. Even day 21, which is generally used in healthcare is tricky because you’ve got to get the right day, and progesterone goes up and down loads so a bad result isn’t necessarily definitive.
getting an online test (I’ve used Superdrug) is handy because you can do it on the right day (7DPO).
also re progesterone supplementing, there is some debate about its usefulness and a lack of research.. some say low progesterone is the symptom not the cause, so supplementing if doesn’t necessary help, but then it seems to help
Some women! I’m currently on Cyclogest privately though and they said might help and can’t harm!

FlyHighSky72 · 03/06/2025 22:33

Wow @bigbird1234thats a damning thread about Proov! I bought some to use this cycle but didn’t read it properly so didn’t realise you had to test just after your period for comparison - was going to use them next month but maybe I won’t bother!!!

I was recommended this company:

www.medichecks.com/products/day-21-ovulation-progesterone-blood-test

Thanks @Muddysocks1 and @ChaE05 really good to know some GPs are supportive of this plan, def gives me more confidence, like it's not an unreasonable request. Also SO interesting about the info on the tommys calculator. I've not been brave enough to fill that out yet although if it's a troubling result at least maybe a good bit of evidence for GP that tests are worthwhile? Will think on it!

Sorry @Ec2808 I can't see anything there yet, this cycle seems like it's really messing you about! So tricky :( don't lose hope though, maybe all will become clear.

megan345 · 03/06/2025 23:29

Orangelover · 03/06/2025 23:34

I think I was yesterday but just possibly into today. Have all my ov symptoms and have DTD as much as possible the last couple of days. Praying for fertilising/implanting vibes Grin

Two weeks does sound extremely far away...
