TWW at 40 yrs old

A few days into my two week wait now, period due around 2nd of March.

Trying not to get too excited as I'll soon be 40 and I know my chances are lower - nevertheless, I found myself downloading a pregnancy tracking app this morning and looking at all the visuals of what the baby would look like at various stages 🙃

Anyone else out there want to wait with me? Crossing fingers and toes for my November baby!!

First month 🙈 I feel a bit ashamed saying it! My others weren’t this quick at all. My new partner says he’s relieved his stuff works lol.

I'm surprised how faint the line is even with a BFP. I always thought that the line would be a big fat one, like in the movies! It makes me feel better.

So I was fairly in the dark. I started tracking my periods when I turned 35 years old as they went haywire. I was 28 days before then. For the last 5 years I’ve experienced 28-42 day cycles randomly. Had the copper coil so no hormone contraception.

The month before I had my coil out I tracked with a Clearblue digi OV and I got a flashing face on CD20. AF arrived CD28 though so super early.

First month actively trying I got no positives on my remaining sticks, and didn’t record a peak on OV tests either. I planned for another 28 day cycle so made sure to BD on CD13 and 15. Also BD on CD21.

On CD20 I started tracking BBT and got a huge spike almost immediately on CD21, so I think I again OV CD20 and either some hardy sperm from day 15 or my egg lasted a long time till day 21 sex! Thats why I was so shocked when I got the positive. I really didn’t think we’d timed anything right and I had no idea whether I was missing a period or due on.

I’m CD34 at the moment so possibly not even due on my period yet. So the advice I’d give anyone would be to track your temp to check if OV occurred rather than rely on just test strips to predict if it will (my temp has fluctuated but stayed high since then), and to have sex every three days if possible around the time you think OV may occur, even if you’re not sure.

i tracked with OPKs this month but clear blue was always negative. Boots brand showed a positive on CD 13 but we only BD the day before and day after. I assume it’s not enough or didn’t work?! I am still 6 days before AF is due but I don’t feel a thing…

I mean, I’d say you timed it perfectly if you saw a positive OV, and it’s a really common day in a cycle to do so. So I’d keep the hope!

I tested negative the early morning I eventually got the positive, and I was 11-12dpo. A much later positive than with me previous pregnancies so definitely don’t discount yourself even if you get into double figures past ovulation. Crossing my fingers for you!

Oh, and I had no symptoms at all. Maybe increased hunger, but I can be a pig anyway at the end of the month 😂

Now currently in the rollercoaster of bleeding and feeling like my test lines are getting lighter 😅😭 started spotting this afternoon.

I know it might still be okay, and if not people seem to be extra fertile next cycle. And at least it did actually happen. But I really hope it sticks 😭 How long after chemicals do people still test positive on?

Out of curiosity- when does everyone think I ovulated this cycle?
the app said day 12 however my period came on cd23, so looking at that I’m thinking day 9 because there is a dip then 3 higher temps (although not at my baseline I know) ? Any thoughts
my luteal phase has been 14 days for years now so I’m hoping there’s no change to that

Hi all, my period usually starts 12dpo which is today. I’ve had cramps and some brown spotting yesterday (which i never usually get) but only cramps today. Can anyone see anything on these pregnancy tests? I have major line eyes 😵‍💫 am 40, turning 41 in August - would love to be pregnant again after our MMC last year 🫶

I had a not pregnant on a digital this morning so it’s definitely over.

Sorry to ask this group another question. I have had a cycle where I didn’t ovulate at all… had period type symptoms but no bleeding. Has anyone else had this? I’ve had 2 other months in the last 12 months where I just haven’t ovulated. Then I skip a months bleed???

I’ve not ever had anything similar, sorry. But if you are worried about it you should speak to a gynaecologist to see what is happening. It might be something they can help with to take some of the stress away. Best of luck xx

@EmberR have you had any recent blood tests?
Its definitely possible, if irregular cycles aren't something youve experienced before then itll do no harm getting check up as yes it happens . You can start to have irregular periods later in life and you can have periods and not have ovulated and its more common for this age group specifically due to hormone fluctuations as we approach peri/ menopause. Your gp should be able to offer you bloods. I'd also ask for a 21 day blood test to confirm ovulation. This will check for your progesterone levels. Definitely worth just getting the bloods to see if anything can be picked up on as to what's going on? Have you been stressed? Even something as simple as stress can cause irregular cycles.

I did an online AHM test so patiently waiting for the results of that! Cd8 here
